We’ve been to this restaurant so many times and it’s always 5/5! Ambience and service is always fantastic Food is always delicious and fresh with lots of variety Drinks are really reasonably priced All in all love it and we’ll continue to come here!

The most authentic Italian pizza I’ve had in England. Fantastic and friendly staff that were very happy to let us customise our order for dietary needs and were very friendly with the young children of our group. Highly recommended for individuals and families

Great small independent restaurant. 1 man serving the whole restaurant and 2 chefs in the kitchen. Service was very attentive. Food came as we had ordered. Starters of garlic bread and meatballs to share as a family and we were even given small plates each. Mains we ordered 1 pizza for our children to share (no specific kids menu available) and they cut in half so each child had their own plate which saved us the hassle of doing it at the table. All food was hot and delicious. The whole experience reminds me of being in Italy.

This is a wonderful authentic restaurant and this was my third visit. It is such a change from the Italian chain restaurants to have the chef and his family preparing and serving - we've tried everything from the exquisite meatballs to the calzone and chicken in mushrooms and gorgonzola. All perfect! Just looking forward to our next visit.

Restaurant very small and feeling squeezed close together. The food was good but there was only one waiter for the entire restaurant. I had the seabass served with chips and salad. Very big portion of food, very delicious.

First time visiting and was quickly taken back by the unpleasant welcome! Not even a smile from the man who seemed to be in charge. No hello, good evening or anything. I asked what he recommends as I like to know what the workers think and he quickly suggested the most expensive thing on the menu! I asked about the past dishes and his reply was “pasta is all the same”! He had no desire to talk about the food at all. He was rude, miserable and arrogant.

First time trying this restaurant and ordered pizzas for Saturday night. We were very excited about the range of menu choices and the pizza was truly amazing, authentic Italian dough base and have to say the best in Reading ! Highly recommend and will be ordering more and dining in !

Been a few times and is the best in Caversham and Reading. Fresh food, always cooked to a high standard and the pizzas are amazing. We used to use a different restaurant in the area but not anymore this place is a rare gem. A meal for 2 with starter, main, desert and drinks is about £70

Had a lovely meal at Papa Gee on Tuesday 25th October 2022. The staff were super friendly. Great pizza for my husband and yummy risotto for me.

I was really disappointed, pizza at papa gee isn’t Italian at all, not even the pizza maker for sure and if it’s not so, for sure he never worked in a real Italian pizzeria. We ordered 2 pizza Margherita Which is the classic and most popular pizza and we weren’t satisfied at all, it didn’t looks as a pizza margherita is meant to look and the dough was quiet chewy and too salted. Not the taste you expect from an Italian pizza. Conclusion, if you go there for a pizza don’t expect it to be Italian’s way. NOT RECOMMENDED.

Came here tonight, haven't been for a while but usual faces serving iis and really top quality food. We booth had the 'new' items from the menu, meatballs and spaghetti and tagliatelle with chicken and chilli, will have these again, there are really tasty.

Un sábado por la noche justo después de Año Nuevo y Pappa Gee's estaba ocupado, animado y acogedor. Informal pero bien organizado. El servicio fue excepcional: enérgico, servicial y atento. Las pizzas eran de alta calidad: bases delgadas y ligeras, coberturas generosas, frescas, calientes y perfectamente condimentadas. Casa roja era deliciosa y excepcionalmente buena relación calidad-precio. Esta fue nuestra primera visita a Pappa Gee, pero espero que no sea la última.

Raramente revisaría una pizzería, pero este lugar fue excepcional. Pequeño por muchos estándares y decididamente acogedor, ya que es un lugar concurrido por una buena razón. Las pizzas fueron algunas de las mejores que he probado (incluida la mía), el personal amable y el ambiente excelente. La más joven lo recomendó (claramente estaba buscando una comida gratis) pero puedo más que respaldar su recomendación. Sin embargo, reserve: pequeño y popular significa que necesita hacerlo. La casa roja también es excelente.

Dopo aver letto le recensioni su Trip ho convinto mio figlio ad ordinare on-line 3 pizze magherite da questo locale. Abbiamo ordinato, come detto,3 pizze margherite che sono arrivate in perfetto orario. L'aspetto è stato quello tipico della pizza Napoletana soffice e alta sui bordi, gradevole in generale per me il sapore (meno per mia moglie in quanto troppo bruciacchiata sul fondo) con buoni ingredienti ma troppo bruciata sotto, sinonimo che il forno non è stato pulito a dovere. Per quanto riguarda il prezzo, il solito elevato prezzo Inglese, quindi pessimo il rapporto qualità prezzo. Mangiano proprio male questi Inglesi per questo gradiscono il cibo originale Italiano.

We hadn’t booked but popped in on the off chance on Saturday night. The restaurant was jam packed but the lovely staff got a spare table and chairs from the hallway to accommodate us, which we really appreciated. This place has a warm, cosy atmosphere , the staff are great and the food was delicious. Spot on.

Il cibo è buono anche la possa mi è piaciuta forse il pomodoro potrebbe trovare una qualità migliore ma la mozzarella era buona anche la carne non era male, il locale lascia un po’ a desiderare avrebbe tanto bisogno di una rimodernata! Second time I’ve been and still very impressed. Great wine, satisfying courses!!If you want good Italian food & drink, a good atmosphere and good times come here. It’s fab to find a local independent restaurant that offers you something different from the local chains. Will be back again!!

Platos principales era igual de bueno (pasta de mariscos) y filete especial. Unos pocos lados y mis pantalones decían alto. gracias comida maravillosa de Papa Gee y personal atento muy atento. Te veo de nuevo pronto .

My partner and I came here last week for a midweek dinner. Our waiter Ihor was very friendly, fun and helpful. We tried a pizza bianca and a pizza rossa - both were delicious thin-crust pizzas. We would definitely like to come back again.

It’s so great to walk into a pizzeria and actually eat real authentic pizza! All the toppings were fresh and tasty! The pizza base was just how a real Italian pizza should be!!! So yummy will make sure when I’m back in the area I will drop in! Even our 4 year olds loved it!!!!

My first visit here, friendly and welcoming with good banter. Great menu with lots of choice of both pasta, pizza and more traditional Italian mains. Opted for pizza - delicious. Also it was massive so have brought some home for tea tomorrow. I think they are used to this, as a box is provided. Prefect crust and lovely toppings. A really lovely atmosphere and very good value.

Papa Gees has moved into Caversham, but is still the best pizza in Reading. Parking is still awkward, but achievable. Restaurant is nicer than before.

Comí aquí con mi esposo un sábado por la noche, por suerte habíamos reservado una mesa porque estaba ocupada. El personal era muy amable y acogedor. Hubo un zumbido encantador en el restaurante. Un signo de su popularidad fue el número de conductores de Deliveroo que llegaron durante la noche para el servicio de entrega. Tuve una pizza de Quattro Formaggi y una ensalada mixta - la masa de pizza era muy ligera y crujiente y la ensalada era encantadora y fresca. Mi esposo tenía el pez espada especial: un gran trozo de pez espada servido en una deliciosa salsa de tomate con una gran porción de papas salteadas. La casa roja era muy fácil de beber. Tuve la cassatina helado para el postre - ¡mmm! y mi marido tenía un café macchiato, muy agradable. Fue una velada encantadora - ¡gracias!

We ate here with friends, their turn to chose the restaurant, and we had a really good meal and wine and was really good value for money. We shared platters to start with, and then 3 of us had pizza and I had the al forno. All the food was freshly cooked to order, good ingredients and very tasty. The restaurant doesn’t pretend to be anything fancy or upmarket but concentrates on good, honest , well cooked food. Our entire bill came to just over £100 for the 4 of us, which was exceptional value as we had 2 bottles of wine. Staff were friendly and pleasant.

This is just what a neighbourhood Italian should be like, this place doesn't try to be anything it's not, it's just fantastic pizzas - simple as that. Beer was good, very welcoming, good atmosphere, not too expensive! 6 clean plates!

Had a fabulous meal. Staff really friendly and helpful. Owner Odete really makes you feel at home. Food home cooked and delicious. Pizzas are homemade and lovely. Finished with melon cello and pistachio ice cream for dessert - absolutely delicious.

We went for a belated Valentine’s meal out together here on Saturday and as always enjoyed every moment. The food is delicious and well presented and the staff always friendly and welcoming and we always feel we’ve had value for money hence it’s our “go to” place for a treat. Last summer we popped in occasionally for takeaway pizza to take home and enjoy in the garden and even then the staff were welcoming and gave personal service.

Me and my boyfriend went here for dinner on a Friday evening and it was pleasantly good! The staff are lovely and welcoming, they accommodated to my weird request of having potato on the spicy pizza! It tasted delicious and was very filling. We had fried calamari for starter to share, it came with fried courgette which was my favourite part. We didn't have any desserts as we were quite full. Would love to visit again and try the pasta dishes!

Este es mi primer viaje a Reading y me encontré con Papa Gee por si acaso. Estoy muy contento de haberlo hecho ya que es la mejor pizza que he comido, el personal y la administración fueron muy amables y no pudieron hacer lo suficiente para garantizar que disfruté estar allí. No pude terminar mi pizza, así que me dieron una caja para llevar. La próxima vez que esté en Reading definitivamente regresaré

He comido en Papa Gee dos veces este año. La primera vez fue con amigos en junio, todos comimos de la junta de especiales y disfrutamos mucho de nuestras (diferentes) comidas. La segunda visita fui solo, esta vez me decepcionó la pizza, dado que el lugar se describe como una pizzería; La base no estaba crujiente. A fin de cuentas he ido con 4?.

Ella nos dijo que esta era la mejor y más auténtica comida italiana que ha tenido desde que se mudó a Inglaterra y no nos decepcionó. Buena comida, personal encantador y un entorno agradable. ¡Bien hecho!

The food here was pretty good, maybe not the best Italian I've ever had but tasty and fresh. What really makes this place 5* and well worth the visit is the staff. Run by the family, we interacted with what appeared to be two girls and their parents, and they were all just so lovely and friendly. It was my daughters first birthday and they helped make it special and made us feel happy to be there with a little one. Fantastic atmosphere, i'll be back soon.

The pasta and pizza were great, with plenty of choice, and the service was friendly and efficient. It is, however, a small restaurant and very popular (book!) so it can be quite noisy. But we will go again, probably during the week when it is less busy.

I have visited Papa Gees on several occasional and honestly I can not recommend it enough. The food is delicious, staff are friendly and attentive and it is great value for the high quality food that you receive. I love Italian food and after spending time in Italy I often found Italian restaurants somewhat disappointing once back in the UK. Papa Gees however, provides an authentic experience with food as delicious as you would find in Italy.

So happy I have finally tried Papa Gee. The pizza is incredible! So very similar to the pizza we had on our recent holiday to Puglia. The staff are super friendly too which adds to the authenticity of the place. We had the arancini to start which were delicious and we shared a bottle of the house red - also tasty. We will be back!

Small, friendly, simple service, reasonable choice, with well cooked pizzas and pasta, just what you'd expect from a privately-owned Italian restaurant. Much better value then the plastic chain-owned variety.

Very nice italian food, have only been to the new restaurant location it's nice but feels more like a day time cafe rather than a romantic dinner restaurant. My favourite thing about this restaurant is the pasta is HOMEMADE! Have literally been looking for somewhere that's makes it's own pasta in Reading for a while. Very impressed. Pizzas looked delicious too myself and my partner only had the starter and pasta dishes.

Papa Gee has become a bit of a "thing" in Reading since lauded local food blogger EdibleReading gave it a stellar review. I only started reading EdibleReading a little after I first went to Papa Gee, and I actually first found out about it through a reccomendation from a friend, who had been particularly impressed by the pizzas. I'd been whinging that Reading doesn't have a decent pizza place (this was before Firezza, Franco Manca, or Thirsty Bear opened, though that makes no difference now as Firezza has closed, Franco Manca isn't that much cop in my book, and Thirsty Bear is just dire) and he directed me to Papa Gee.

This is a local place for us at the moment: we are moving house soon. We were not expecting anything fancy, this is a family operation and as such, welcoming, friendly and a good atmosphere. Saturday was busy with 2 large groups in quite a small space but that did not spoil the meal as they were not noisy, a pleasant change!

I finally found the real authentic Neapolitan-style pizza just like the one I use to have back home! If you wanna get serious about it, don’t miss Gaetano’s lasagna! Just like mama would make it!

I was at Papa Gee with a group of friends from Reading. As an Italian and a lover of pizza, I must admit that I had one of the best pizza experiences of my time in UK. The dough was perfect and the toppings very tasty and genuine. Even the starters were really nice, from the bruschetta to the arancini, crocchè etc. Good choice of dessert: we took tiramisù, ice cream and a typical neapolitan cake. Moreover, the service was always extremely kind and professional. Highly recommended!
