First time here and really enjoyed it. The garlic bread and pizza were very good and the waiter was friendly and helpful. Definitely would go back

Really great atmosphere and polite service. Only ordered a pepperoni pizza, but it came really good. Good with kids too! Will come again to sample more of the menu.

Ordered food for delivery, was so delicious and pizza was still hot on arrival. We will definitely be ordering from here in future. It finally seems like a replacement to Franco Manca has arrived in Reading, we both said it was tastier than FM. The pizzas are a little thicker than FM which means they hold the toppings better. The dough seemed really fresh too and the tomato base was so flavourful, you could tell from the first bite!

We have been meaning to come here. Fantastic Mediterranean starter and mains. The carbanara was stunning and the chicken milanese with spaghett was the same. Its fantastic that we have another option of beautiful food in Tilehurst. Go again .... definitely

Honestly driven past this place 1000s of times and always looked busy. Booked for a birthday , Saturday night and OMG absolutely blown away , one of reading's hidden treasures, a pleasure to eat here and staff very friendly amd even thou busy nothing was a trouble , reasonably priced for very nice food , I don't ever 100 % recommend as always someone gets let down or has a bad experience BUT here we go , get booking and enjoy ! Ps really really surprised when we got bill as well

Totally delightful service - polite, cheerful and welcoming. Decor is tasteful; so lovely to have an individual Italian eatery in Tilehurst. Food was very flavourful - my Fiorantina Pizza was delicious and arrived promptly. Slightly expensive?? (£15 ish) but will certainly return. Thank-you for a most enjoyable evening.

Good size, perfectly local Italian restaurant for all of Tilehurst and surroundings to enjoy. The staff is always very helpful and service minded. Instantly feel like home when entering the restaurant. And did I say the food is great?

I have visited this new trattoria many times now and taken friends at different times of day. Always excellent and friendly service. Offering a personal and adaptable touch when needed. Reasonable prices and superb fresh food. Open throughout the day and evening which is very useful and convenient for me as an online working teacher with fixed times. Can be a bit noisy with children or large groups but I thoroughly recommend it.

Our first visit with the children and cannot fault the service or food, we did order one dish that just wasn't to our liking but that was personal preference. Other than that, I would highly recommend Vesuvio. Great to visit the childhood area and enjoy somewhere with my kids. Can't wait to visit again. Already recommended to a few friends.

Like the idea of local Pizzeria so had to support it. Restaurant nicely done with an authentic family feel. Great service and fast, but over priced for average food. Was disappointed with the chicken Milanese dish as the sauce had no taste and the breaded chicken was overcooked and dry. My partner had a chicken dish with salad and expected a side I.e. potatoes but there was no side but she enjoyed the dish. We spent around £46 for 2 mains and a beer and a glass of wine, so if this is to last, they need to look at their prices remembering it’s out of town plus getting in a real Italian chef if trying to create a proper Italian styled restaurant.

Been twice, very nice food. First time had a pizza 👍. Last night had a seafood pasta dish, very nice , an expensive and tiny plate of food, 3 mussels, 3 small prawns, 3 small clams, enough pasta for a 4 year old and a nice tomato sauce . Left the restaurant still hungry 😧

Ordered a Prosciutto Funghi pizza the other night and it was absolutely delicious. A real treat in Tilehurst. Will definitely be ordering from them again/will pop in for a meal. Service was super quick too and the driver was lovely.😁

Popped in on the of chance for a meal for 6. They managed to fit us in. Friendly staff, good service and great food.

Being local it's well placed for us. Generally we were pleased but found it rather noisy, lots of hard surfaces didn't help. The menu has a reasonable choice but could be more specific, i.e. it states seafood, you could ask but prefer the menu to state exactly what seafood being used.

Thank you to Shannon and the team for a lovely evening for my Son's 18th Birthday meal, we had actually previously visited back in November for a quick drink for the first time and were impressed with the service and friendliness that we decided to book this family meal which we had booked with a larger chain in the town centre but decided to cancel and book here - we were not disappointed! The food was lovely, everyone enjoyed their starters and mains (12 of us, kids & adults) the staff were attentive and helpful. The little touches of the banners and balloons were also very much appreciated. This restaurant is a nice addition to the local area & we wish you every success. Thank you again we had a great evening & will be back again soon x

Judging by our lunchtime experience, I wouldn't go here in the evening; the noise must be terrible. But then, that seems to be the norm these days. Food was fairly good, nothing special. Service was a bit tardy, but polite. Value for money seems very poor for the location. I could name a dozen places that serve better for the price in west London so in Tilehurst it's unfathomable.

Delicious and very welcoming restaurant we have been served my Augusto who is showing outstanding customers service I will definitely be comming back for more food. We had pizza and spaghetti and both were delicious!

Went here with two friends for the second time and it didn't disappoint! Our meal was outstanding. Beautifully cooked and probably the best lamb I've tasted in a very long time. The service was friendly and helpful and we had a lovely evening. Will definitely be going again very soon!

The manager Augusto made us so welcome, and seated us inside, our meals were fantastic and the service was excellent, staff friendly, lovely warm atmosphere, great to have such a lovely restaurant in Tilehurst we will 100% be back..

Just perfect, I had a lovely evening here last night and the food, service, setting was fantastic. Cocktails are so good and oh my goodness that vesuvio cake 🤤 definitely going again.

Very disappointed with our experience at Vesuvio this evening. We’d booked a table for 7pm & on arrival was told the table was outside.. in the middle of November? We explained this isn’t acceptable so after a 5min wait the table plan was shuffled so we could sit inside which was good. The cocktail was poor, very quickly made which wasn’t blended properly. The starter was lovely, but as the evening went on more & more people arrived. To which, so many people arrived there were around 20 people standing around our table whilst trying to eat. We had to get up to let people past our table whilst we were eating the starters. In fairness they had 3 large groups in attendance to celebrate birthdays. But when the mains arrived it just got worse. Very high amount of Parmesan cheese on both of our pasta dishes which completely ruined the dish (we weren’t asked if we’d like Parmesan, which is usual a given). We both couldn’t finish our meals, also couldn’t wait to leave. We swiftly asked for the bill and got out of there.

Wow! What a fantastic place to eat. We finally visited this place after months of promising to do so. Why did we leave it so long. The place was buzzing when we walked in at 6pm and positively bouncing when we left just after 7:30. The food was fantastic! The staff are engaging and friendly. They treated us like royalty. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend it as a place to eat in Tilehurst.

Fantastic authentic Italian, reasonably priced, extensive menu and willing to go off menu.The food and the dessert were extremely delicious, the wine was so good and the service was excellent and even though it was busy, they were fast. Highly recommended 👌

Hubby booked as a surprise birthday treat, place was packed on a Wednesday night and the only table available was outside ☹️ BUT heaters were on and we didn’t feel cold at all! Starters were spot on 3 dishes between 5 of us. Then the mains were even better. Very attentive, quick service, exceptional food….I’ll be going back for seconds!😁

Had a table for eight for a friend’s get together. The service was 1st class, staff were very engaging and efficient, never rushed us at all. Food was excellent, hot and well presented. Will definitely visit this restaurant again.

Went for dinner last night. The restaurant was really busy and most of the tables were full . It was however so noisy, it was impossible to have a normal conversation with people sat across from you. So if you want a quiet meal out, this isn't the place for you and certainly not on a Saturday night. The food was basic and somewhat bland, definitely overpriced for what it is. On a plus point the staff were welcoming and friendly.

Visited with a number of friends. Most had a garlic bread starter because it was the cheapest at 4.50 although if you wanted some mozzarella on it it was an extra 2.50 so 7.00 in total. For mains most had a pizza of varying types...

We had a really lovely meal with our toddler. We were impressed with how child friendly this place was- they had highchair and server brought us crayons and the kids menu was thoughtfully done with lots of options. We came on a busy Friday night when it was clear we should have booked but they managed to kindly squeeze us in. Food was great and I had a really fantastic cocktail! Hard to find nice cocktails in Reading. I also popped into bathrooms and was very impressed by how clean, fresh and high quality everything was in there. We will be back, we will bring more family, we will tell friends.

A little bit frustrating experience. Their dysfunctional website is a disaster, some of the writing is so small that it’s practically impossible to read. Wanted to check their menu online, but it simply did not work. It's disappointing that a restaurant in this day can't maintain a functioning website, which is a basic necessity for customers.. My wife tried before reaching out to them on messenger about reservation matter, but there was absolutely no response. It’s clear that they need to step up their game when it comes to customer communication and their online presence. Tried the food few times, but nothing really impressive, pizza and pasta you can find many places. Nice interior around.

Our Book Group decided to have an evening out together. Reservation made, we had heard great reports of the food at Vesuvio and it was local. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table. The menu and wine list were varied and extensive. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The food was delicious - carbonara was tasty, pizza- best ever tasted, mushroom chicken casserole - superb. We didn't have room for dessert. When the bill came, we agreed it was not the cheapest but good value for good quality One down side was the noise - Yes we were there on a busy Friday evening,but as there were no soft surfaces to absorb the noise, we often couldn't hear the person across the table or from one end to the other, between five people.

Visited this lovely little Italian restaurant as soon as it opened in Tilehurst after a couple of reccomendations. The food is superb with a good menu for both adults and children - The atmosphere is welcoming, especially in the evenings with the music in the background and in the warm evenings sitting outside. Comfortable seating - excellent service from very friendly staff. Its worth a lunchtime visit too with friends for a coffee (or wine) & light snack, easy to wander to if local or using bus service as bus stop is a few yards away and plenty of parking around the corner. Just what was needed in Tilehurst Village!

My risotto was creamy & very tasty. So nice to have a good Italian restaurant in Tilehurst. We will definitely be going back.

Wonderful food, good atmosphere with attentive, friendly and helpful staff. They even put up some balloons for my sons birthday. Enough options (including Vegan) so that everyone in our group could have something nice.

Walked in last night and was greeted with a friendly welcome although we had not booked, 3 adults 2 children. Great food and chef was obliging with our request. They soon filled up on the terrace, this place will get very popular so booking is probably best advised. Great to have a local independent restaurant, will definitely be back.

Wow. Service, food, attention to detail. Went with a friend for a late lunch. Nothing was too much trouble, we had some lovely chats with our waiter about everything and he gave us lots of space to choose our food and drink without rushing us....

This new restaurant is deservedly popular as it serves tremendous food. The pizzas were really excellent, with thin crusts and very nicely-cooked toppings. It was really busy when we went and there are some service wrinkles to be ironed out, but the staff were super helpful and friendly. It was also quite noisy, even outside, which made it hard for our aged ears to hear each other. However, highly recommended and 5 stars when the service gets better.

Pizza was excellent, so was the starter and the cocktails. Everyone enjoyed their food and we will be back!

We have been to this place for the first time today. Big table of 10 adults and 7 children. We ate very well, the staff was lovely and very kind. Also fast service. I am very pleased to have this place in tilehurst so you don’t need to go to town centre to get a good night out with friends. Recommended

I think the intention is definitely there, the staff were very good, but could have been a bit more conversational. The food was ok, but for £150 for four of us, it needed to be much, much better. The manager was already aware of some of his issues, which, was a little disappointing. Knowing you have some issues means you need to sort them asap. If you are charging to rate prices, then you can’t serve ok food. The food wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t good enough for the price being charged. I will go back and wish them success, hopefully they will have either upped their food game or reduced the price to match the food standard. Good luck.
