Ordered potato 65 as starter with veg biryani. Food was simply superb. This is the best Biryani I had it after a long time. Great service. Mango lassi and Gulab Jamun was really great. Highly recommend. Must visit with family and friends to enjoy

The food is absolutely amazing. Service is also top class, Pardeep in particular. You are made to feel very special, and that your custom is appreciated. The chilli paneer is my absolute favourite, delicious.

Popped in before the Luton v Brighton match. Wanted quick vegi/fish dinner as trying to be healthy. Shared vegi Manchurian (sticky vegi balls delicious), bhindi kurkuri (indian okra tempura) and chilli wala prawn (huge juicy prawns tossed in a spicy spring onion). With naan. Plenty to eat. Very tasty, great flavours beautifully cooked. Nice decor music and friendly staff. In and out in less than an hour and a reasonable price. Don't miss this place it rocks.

Flavours, textures, choice, quality….. Simply one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve been to. Previously unaware of it and it’s been in Milton Keynes for ten years. Well worth the drive out.

We ordered the food online and we liked the food. Plus point was that Indian food was available for lunch. Taste and quantity were both good.

After 30 min delays of delivery , I have received enough food to feed a cat for only £27 ,I didn't expect to to be this way

I haven’t used this place for a while, got disappointed with it over the years. Thought I would try it again tonight, only to be disappointed. The price for a take away for 3 people was roughly £80, if the food had been good I wouldn’t have complained, however, all the dishes came in a plastic pot, almost half the size of there foil ones of old! One of the curry dishes had 4 small pieces of chicken… disgraceful. I will not be returning, the taste was still good but value for money very poor.

Fantastic food, we had the new wings flavour (Tamarind wings). Excellent service. We also tried a variety of the menu for a wedding meal; Vegetable Manchurian, Chilli Paneer, Potato 65, Tamarind chicken wings, Chicken Chattinadhu, Rajishtani Laal Maas, Tadka Daal. All the dishes tried at the restaurant were as good as when served at the wedding venue; Ravi, Ajit and the team were spot-on with the service. I would recommend Papa J; you will be satisfied.

We have visited this restaurant around 10 times since opening and have seen a few ups and downs. You can always be guaranteed very tasty food with some unique flavours and the best nans around. However on this visit we were surprised how small some of the main course portions have got. We will be back as it’s only a short walk away but hoping for better in the future.

Not a good experience at all! The "tapas" were massive and good enough in size as a main meal. Ditto the rice portions. I feel that the waitress should have pointed out that the amount we ordered was excessive, but I guess the management of this place put profit above customer experience. The dips with the poppadoms were very "runny" and hence NOT dips. EVERY starter and EVERY main course was over seasoned with chillis / hot sauces, to the point where 2 out of 5 of us left starters and a different 2 out of 5 of us sent main courses back. Don't get me wrong, we ALL love a good spicy curry, but this food was obviously cooked by a chef Intent on making the food inedible to customers. Worst curry experience EVER and will never go back there 😒

I have been here twice now and have been meaning to write a review. This place is a gem, if you are looking for good authentic Indian food full of flavours, I would recommend this. It isn't fancy as other places but when it comes to the food its one of the best in MK. I would recommend!

My first meal post lockdown and it was awful. I had food poisoning for having this chicken wings. Was unwell for days with terrible nausea and vomiting. I wouldn’t recommend. It’s sad because I’ve dined with them before albeit only ever ordered vegetarian food with them before

We ordered for pick up. Had to wait in the queue outside for a bit but that's understandable due to the demand of this restaurant and the safety of their customers during lockdown. We ordered just starters but the food was excellent. It was full of flavour. If there was one fault, I would say the food was overly spicy (and that's coming from an Indian). But I know for next time to ask for the spiciness to be toned down a notch.I will definitely order from Papa J's again, and look forward to trying some of their other dishes.

We have eaten here as a restaurant many times (at least 20) so tried a takeaway via deliveroo. It arrived 30 mins late and stone cold. Very disappointing experience and won’t do a takeaway again.

Tried for first time on 7th Mar 2020. First impression was noisy & chaotic. Took several minutes to get someone to take us the table we'd booked. No menus provided so we had to take some off another table. Ten minutes later our drinks order was taken, but only one of the drinks was delivered. My wife had to go and fetch someone to take our food order after we had been waiting for ages. Our food finally arrived one and a half hours after we entered the restaurant after we'd chased the manager twice. The actual food was fine (although the chilli paneer was badly overcooked and chewy). The manager offered a 10% discount because of the poor service but whilst I was talking to him one to one he completely ignored me and started playing with the card payment machine which I thought was incredibly rude. Massively disappointing evening and an experience that I will definitely not repeat when there are way better alternatives available in MK.

Went tonight with family, 2nd visit, food was brilliant. Lamb literally melted in my mouth. Flavour of Murgh Kalimirch was amazing! We went for dinner on Saturday night, we got there soon after it had opened, we were sat near the front of the restaurant, and the staff can quite quickly to take dinks and poppadum order. That came within a few mins. The restaurant by now was getting busier, we order our starter of the vegetarian platter, which consisted of kachori, samosa’s, spring rolls, masala mogo and chilli paneers the starter took nearly 45 mins to come out and the food made in the restaurant was lovely the paneer and mogo was really nice the samosa, kachori & spring rolls were not great average frozen type taste so not impressed with those. We then ordered some peanuts and wanted to order a couple more things, we stopped 2 waiters and both were running around as it was full with people. In the end after 25 mins of waiting for the peanuts and no one taking a mains order we ended up leaving. Service and kitchen is quite slow. In 2.20 mins we were there we only managed to get poppadums and starters. We weren’t looking to wait another 40 mins for the mains so we gave up and left. Which is a shame as we would have loved to try them. So if you are planning on going there make sure you have enough fine to sit and wait around for the food. Or just have to order the starter and mains together to make it quicker.

I always make sure to bring my out of town friends to this restaurant, we were served by Mo and Nas last time who were very hospitable, they made sure to check on us. The food was great, I can always rely on good quality, which is why it's my go to restaurant in MK for dinners. All of my friends who have visited have only ever had positive things to say, and so, often it's the first option suggested when we go out for dinner.

Was served by Safi tonight. Brillaint food, excellent service. No idea how he knew it was my birthday but he surprised me with a dessert and candle at the end of our meal. Definitely recommend! Sharv

Went in ordered quick, drinks came quick, that was about it. Ordered just before 7pm, walked out at 7.55pm with no food, manager gave me £20 off to take it as a takeaway as it was now ready. Got home and food had more oil than Saudi I almost thought the US were going to invade it. Saag paneer was bright green and full of colouring with hardly any Saag (pictured). Chicken tikka masala bright red and full of colouring with hardly any flavour. Not worth the £65 bill or even the £45 discounted bill. Would expect this type of food from one of the crappy £20 takeaways with the 1star food hygene rating.

10 of us turned up on recommendation from a colleague. Fantastic food. We went with the vegetarian tapas. Generous portions and the veggie balls and paneer with peanuts were sublime! Mo was our waiter and did a fantastic job. Very attentive. Thoroughly recommend.

We went in for a family meal (group of 7) and left happy customers. The Restaurant was fairly busy and yet the staff were attentive. The gentleman that served us (receipt said Habib?) was very energetic and showed a passion for the menu and food concept, and explained well, giving lots of recommendations. I'd have probably tried all of them, because they sounded amazing, but unfortunately I am on a medical diet for IBS and as such, am quite strictly limited in food options, my major triggers being onions and garlic. I made the waiter aware and he didn't sound too optimistic, because, an Indian restaurant couldn't run without onions and garlic, but nevertheless he kindly went to check what might be suitable. Amazingly, he came back with a separate allergens menu with a 'no onions/garlic' section. I was astounded. Now, it wasn't extensive, and only had one curry, but I couldn't blame them at all. I went for the paneer butter masala and jeera rice, and upon receiving it, was quite pleased. The rice was lovely, and the paneer wasn't bad at all (first time trying it). I assume all the meats are pre-marinated and none are kept plain through service, as I would have loved some plain chicken in it instead, but this was an okay substitute (I'm not fantastic with dairy but can handle a little bit). The sauce was a little salty for my liking, so I only ate half, but otherwise the flavour was delicious. The food my family had looked a lot better, and smelt heavenly - they seemed to thoroughly enjoy it. Lots of wonderfully marinated meat, that appeared well cooked and well presented. My sister did find a chicken wing that was a bit undercooked, but upon alerting our waiter, this was swapped out without issue. The manager was a great help, and apologetic. Fantastic service on all accounts, and happy customers. In all honesty, I'd probably not come again, as my choices are so limited, but that's not the fault of the restaurant at all. I'm not one for eating at restaurants anymore, outside of special occasions. If I wasn't so restricted, I'd order half the menu quite happily! If this is the choice of family for birthdays again though, I'll know I can attend with options for food, which is all I can ask for. Thank you!

We were looking for an Indian Meal on Saturday night, but wanting to try somewhere new for a change. Checked out the reviews on here and elected for Papa J’s. We knew we had made a good choice upon entering, warmly greeted and very attentive service from the off despite a very busy restaurant. The food is not your stereotypical Indian/Bangladeshi offering. The menu offers an eclectic twist on meat, fish and vegetable choices. It’s all cooked fresh to order and it’s not quick, but worth the wait. We had a fabulous meal it’s well worth a visit.

So this place has the most unique delicious flavours I’ve ever come across. It’s hard to believe it comes with the affordable price tag that it does! The service is on point as the staff are actually people who care about their jobs and the enjoyment of their customers. In mine and my fiancé’s time at the restaurant we were lucky enough to have Mo serving us, he told us his recommendations and also had the decency to tell us when he thought we had ordered enough as we were unsure on portion sizes! We will definitely be back with our friends and family, with the combination of the food and service we would be stupid not to return!

First visit to this restaurant. Authentic dishes cooked to high standard using fresh ingredients. Excellent staff. Quite refreshing that we were asked if it was our first visit and what we thought. Highly recommend squid, lamb curry on the bone and chicken wings. Definitely return.

A return visit after quite a while. It’s fifteen miles from home! We were delighted to find it was just as good as before. This time we took two tapas style dishes as shared starters: crispy lamb and chilli wala prawn. Both were hot and delicious and very different from each other. They are unlike typical high street Indian starters which is a hallmark of Papa J. The same was true of Hyderbadi Lal Mas. Rich & unctuous with beautiful meat served with a flaky buttery lachha paratha. My son had Chettinadu Chicken with an Urud Dal - the dal being his highlight of the night. Set in a local shopping precinct, the restaurant lacks a little ambiance but the friendly service makes up for that.

Came to Papa Js for dinner with my fiancé last night and was not disappointed! We were served by Nas who was really attentive and informative, little things like noticing when our glasses were empty and remembering what we were drinking was a lovely touch. Nas’ recommendations did not disappoint! We decided to go for 5 different tapas, chilli paneer, wings, crispy lamb, vegetable ‘meatballs’ and crispy prawns - everything was delicious! The portions were very generous and we ended up bringing some home, next time we should order less but won’t because it’s all so good! Will definitely be back soon, thanks for a lovely evening.

My husband and I had lunch here today. We do not eat a big meals these days so having a tapas bar element to the menu was just right for us. We chose chicken delicious which was off the bone chunks of chicken marinated in a garlic sauce.and sheik kebab, we shared a nan bread. It was all truly delicious. The nan bread was very light which was refreshing as in some places the nan can be heavy and a bit stodgy. There is also an extensive menu of curries, for meat and vegetable lovers alike. The menu helpfully denotes whether the dishes are suitable for people with certain types of allergies. This was very handy as my husband is Gluten Intolerant.

Arrived for lunch and it looked quiet but we were so glad we did. On entering, we were greeted by a warm smile and a hello by the waiter Connor. What a nice young waiter. He knew everything about the menu, suggesting what to have and how much to have between the 4 of us. The food we had was superb. Tasty, authentic and fresh. The suggestions that Connor gave us were amazing. Filled us up comfortably. We will be back for more

This was our first visit to Pappa J’s off the back of a friend’s recommendation and we were not disappointed. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. We are vegetarian and there was plenty of choice. Our waiter Nas helped us selected a few dishes from the tapas menu and a couple off the main menu. His recommendations were spot on. Every dish was well cooked, full of flavour and a good portion size. We hadn’t tried or come across many of the dishes on they served before, it’s much more exciting than your typical Indian restaurant.

I can honestly say cooking and eating a lot of curries I’m often disappointed but the flavours were sublime . Everything we had was truly a delight to the taste buds . Staff were lovely although I live a good 30 minutes away I will definitely be back excellent .

Haven't been to this restaurant in a few years so decided to visit on new years eve with a friend for dinner. I called in the afternoon to make a reservation and was asked to call back after 5.30 to confirm it. After spending nearly an hour trying to call back in the evening to confirm my reservation, I was told my reservation for 8 pm will need to be pushed back to 8.30pm, I agreed as realised they would be busy and I would rather go half an hour later and be served. on arrival we were sat at a table, but were not given any menu's!! after 10 minutes of waiting I decided to help myself to the menu, as they were on the window sill right next to my table! about 15 minutes later someone came over to take our drinks order, we also ordered some water. Again we had to wait ages for the drinks to arrive, my friend had to get up and go to the bar to see where our drinks were, finally after another 5 minutes wait our drinks arrived. Then a waiter came over to take our order, and advised that our starters and mains would all come out together as that is what they were doing that night!! We agreed as just wanted some food as it was getting late. Again we waited some 30 minutes or more for our food. My friend again went over to ask one of the waiters how long our food would be. To my surprise my friend and the waiter came back to the table and then there was a massive confrontation between them!!!! The waiter was so rude, hostile, and confrontational and completely out of order taking all his frustration out on my friend saying things like: "I don't know what you ordered" "I didn't know you were sat there" "I don't know you" "I have never met you before today" "we are really busy" "we have a backlog of phone orders with a two hours wait" and more!!!!!!!! He had totally lost the plot!!!!! He was totally out of control, I have never encountered such behavior and will not be visiting this establishment again. This establishment is very unprofessional, and the food is nothing to shout home about either!!!!

The food at Papa J's is incredible- it never fails to amaze. The food is always cooked to a very high standard; the chicken 65 is delicious, tender and full of flavor. The chili garlic mogo was crispy and very well seasoned. The tandoori prawns were succulent with the flavors from the marination coming through with every bit. The lamb curry was exceptional; the meat pieces were very tender melting in your mouth. The mushroom rice and the dhaal were good accompaniments. Finally the matka dessert served in a stylish pot was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. We were served by Mo who took excellent care of us - making sure we were topped up with drinks and was very attentive during our visit. Huge thanks and see you again!

This place is amazing!! We came all the way from Austin Texas to visit friends in Northampton and this is one of the places that they brought us. Everyone of the 8 different dishes we tried was better than the next. My favorites were the lamb dishes, especially the chops!!! I’d book a table ahead of time, the secret is out on Papa Js.

Impromptu family dinner out. Food was tasty and atmosphere was great. Good, attentive service. We were "surprised" with the look and taste of one of the dishes we received which the kids did not like at all the staff and management were fantastic and resolved the issue with no fuss. I really love Papa J’s and have been to both Milton Keynes and Luton many times and have never been disappointed, the food is always exceptional. Just popped in to Papa J’s for the first time to get a midweek treat takeaway. The waiter was delightful and he encouraged us to try new dishes. Everything is cooked to order. Quite simply, this is the best Indian takeaway ever. The food is fresh, flavourful and delicious. I would say this was a case of maybe ‘eyes bigger than my belly’......couldn’t eat it all but loved it.

Lovely meal ,was only our second visit , but won’t be our last . We where served by Mo very polite nice guy , . Maybe some softer lighting and table feature would be nice .

We had a wonderful time this evening, staff very accommodating especially Mo and Helen who served us throughout our evening meal.

Had a terrific lunch here at the end of Oct 2019 - superb value and the staff (Mo and Helen) were fantastic. Would thoroughly recommend !!

Having been to Papa J's with friends recently, I was so impressed that I managed to convince my husband that we should go together and that it wasn't just a restaurant serving only curry, which he is not a fan of, unfortunately. He loved the whole experience as it was so different! The authentic blend of flavours, freshly cooked dishes, presentation, choice and service, just lovely. So I am looking forward to going again except that next time, he is taking me.

Delicious Indian food with great ambiance in Milton Keynes.I recommend this restaurant for all nationals.

We went to Papa J's Milton Keynes this evening and as expected the food and service were excellent. This is the first time we have visited for dinner having visited a couple of times before for lunch. We were served by Mo who looked after us very well. We like Papa J's because they have a comprehensive vegetarian menu as well as a non veggie one. We had our favourites of Potato 65, Chilli Garlic Mushrooms, Veg Manchurian and the Chana Masala which were first rate as we have come to expect. We will definitely be visiting again.

Great food and service, would highly recommend...Went there for my wedding anniversary with family... Everything was perfect. Such friendly staff and they even brought the cake out for me and played a special song for me and my wife. The kids enjoyed the complete experience too. Special thanks to Mo who took good care of us. Will definitely be coming back soon!
