Horrendously pink chicken. When I called to report this, they advised that they would call back 'when less busy...' Horrific food and horrific customer service.

I had delivery twice this week i no im to old to use these words but that was lush 😅lamb was delish tandoree perfectly cooked cant fault theses guys i will b ordering again soon 👍

Great takeaway on a Sunday night. Delivered fast, food was hot, tasted fresh and full of flavour. Exactly what you’d hope for from a classic Indian takeaway. Delivered with a smile as well!

This place was so good a few years ago but has now gone completely down hill. I thought they might of been having an off day but it’s been rubbish three times in a row now!!

We have moved to Newport Pagnell recently and are discovering places to eat in and takeouts on offer here. Yesterday we ordered two naan breads and chicken tikka passanda and methi. It was absolutely delicious. Passanda nice and sweet and Methi full of flavour. Staff was very pleasant. Will definitely use again when we get craving for Indian food. 😉🥰

popped in here on recent trip to newport pagnell had booked a table but the restaurant is seriously busy on take aways which is always a good sign and the restaurant part was sadly empty unfortunately the premises dont have an alcohol licence either and only soft drinks were available saying all that the food itself was excellent, staff were really friendly too but obviously with no one there but ourselves the vibe was somewhat flat opted for the onion bhaji which was one of the best i'd had , girlfriend had the chicken chaat which was also very good for mains we went for chicken dupiaza and chicken karahi both of which were excellent and the breads too overall it was an excellent culinary experience, just a shame about the alcohol and lack of customers in the restaurant not sure i'd return for the sit down experience but i will certainly use them for take aways

Delivery was a long time coming…we found out that the Just Eat driver’s vehicle broke down. Restaurant staff brought food themselves to us in a taxi. It was fresh and hot and absolutely delicious. The best biryani and best king prawn bhuna we have had in many years. First time we’ve ordered via JE from Kolkata …from now on it will be our “go to” Indian. From first nibble on fresh, crisp, light, non-greasy poppadum I knew the meal was going to be good. Nothing disappointed. The meat samosas were immense! Thank you A&S Middleton

Their "rogan josh" looks like oily fried onion relish with whole cubed tomatoes thrown in after. No idea. Tandoori chicken was dry and bitter. Hygeine rating of 5?? Cant be. Plates had dust on it. Glasses were just rinsed and presented. Ho2 juice had expired in march 2023. Website looks fabulous. Old fridges in dining area. I made a mistake sitting down.

Fantastic Food !!! Went for a dine in and had the chicken rogan Josh & Rosun Chicken - 10/10 . The man serving our table was super helpful, great service. Would definitely come again next time! Very friendly atmosphere!

Great food again from Kalkata. Tonight though the food was late and therefore tepid by the time it got delivered and we were charged £1 for delivery (I know it’s only a pound) when the website says free within 3 miles…. Come on Kalkata…. Despite these things we will be ordering again and very soon.

We have used the Kolkata most weeks for very many years both for dine in and take away and have always had excellent food and great service. Unfortunately, it seems as though it has been taken over and the current staff are totally clueless. We have recently had two take aways that were extremely poor, tiny portions of tough lamb that were served in a watery, tasteless sauce and both times the chicken tikka ordered has come as chicken Tandoori with more bone than meat. Even the special rice was tasteless and the only half decent dish was the brinjal bhaji side. Avoid as there are two Indian restaurants in Newport that are light years ahead of the Kolkata in its present incarnation.

Been having a takeaway from the Kolkata for years. Best in Newport Pagnell to now. quality of the food very disappointing,much smaller portions,more expensive.What a shame.

Mohammed provided us (a group of six) with this guarantee in relation to his cooking. He was right ! This is a small scale family restaurant. The prices are really favourable which means (whisper it quietly) you can order two starters where you may have ordered just one in another restaurant. The food quality was amazing and we really enjoyed our meal there. Well done Mohammed !

Received an order today and not the same quality as previous orders from here. We have been ordering from here for over 10 years(previous review was 5 stars) Was informed it is now being run by different people and we could certainly tell the difference, not only was the food not the same quality, but the order was incorrect and had missing items. The missing items and incorrect order were sent out after we reported it. Looks like we need to find a new place to order from.

As frequent customers, really let down by constant orders having items missing and also encouraged to place orders on website for 20% discount if 2 hours notice given - what they don’t tell you is the 20% isn’t for that order but you’ll get a code for next time - again this is hit and miss!! No customer service given at all despite all the missing items and issues with website. Last order which included tandoori mixed grill did not come with salad, mint dip and naan bread and no offer to rectify this

I went in last night to order my takeaway and I order incorrectly, when I got home I had a Prawn Patia not a Prawn Puree (my mistake), best mistake I have made for years it was lovely, I will be ordering that again, no matter what I order it always seems to hit the right buttons, give them a try if you live near Newport Pagnell, they really are the best in town.

Just ordered 2 Chicken Jalfrezi's as part of a larger order, food arrived, the Jalfrezi's had hardly any meat in them, tiny miniscule pieces of chicken in both dishes, rang in straight away to politely complain, the gentleman on the phone was totally uninterested in our complaint, because of this we will not use them again.

We have used the Kolkata over the years and honestly, it never disappoints. Very good size portions and delicious, especially some of the speciality dishes to make a change. Cannot recommend highly enough

You know that thing where you have a good curry delivery and then the next time it all goes a bit flat. Well, Kolkata have been consistently superb for quite a period of time.

A few months ago, our go-to Indian restaurant closed down, and the next one we tried didn’t quite match. This evening, however, we tried the Kolkata, and wow! The quality of a Biryani is our measure of a restaurant, and the Kolkata Biryani is soooo delicious - probably the tastiest we’ve ever had. Mourning for our lost Indian restaurant ended today with the discovery of the Kolkata.

Amazing food, good value for money and always arrives hot and fresh. Would not go for any other takeaway Indian in Newport Pagnell.

We normally dine in the restaurant, which is small, but has a good atmosphere, with friendly staff & excellent food. We highly recommend this restaurant, as the food & service never disappoints.Due to the Coronavirus restrictions the eat in restaurant service has been suspended, so we now use the takeaway service, where you can order over the phone & they either deliver free, or you can collect direct from the restaurant, either way the food is always good quality & hot

The telephone ordering was polite and efficient. The online menu had been clear and informative. The free delivery arrived on time, and was piping hot, with a friendly driver who carefully observed social distancing. But most important of all the food was excellent, amongst the very best Indian food I have had in the UK.

I visited the Kolkata recently we went into order for takeaway greeted by a very helpful and friendly chef as the host was away from the desk, we sat down to order and were offered a table to do so. We asked for poppadoms while we were looking and waiting for our order and the chef offered them for free along with a soft drink for myself. The food did not take too long to arrive and we found a few Indian cuisine books to browse while we waited. Used to always go to Moza but since moving they have really let their standards slide Kolkata definitely my new fave!!!

A small restautant and does not sell alcohol but the food is fantastic. The chicken Hari Murchi is absolutely the best. We have a drink in the Cannon first and then have water with the meal. You then do not have to pay inflated drinks prices like in other restaurants.

Been our Indian take away for some years , food alway excellent, would highly recommend . Easy to phone through order and collect , but they do deliver .

We visited the restaurant based on Trip Advisor comments. It was situated beside a large Indian restaurant and we were unsure if it was just a take away as you walk straight into a shop. We were greeted with the remark that no alcohol was served which did not make much difference to us. It was a Friday night and we were the only people there. The restaurant could only seat 16 people, was tired and unkept with mismatched pictures. We ordered Diet Coke which must have come from a large bottle as it was flat. We ordered two Balti chicken curries, Bombay Aloo, rice, Naan. It was the first time I have had a complete half cooked tomato in mine, but it tasted okay. Nothing spectacular as we were expecting just pretty average. People were coming in for take away and as the place was small you could hear the conversations clearly. When I went to the single ladies toilet there was a bottle of washing up liquid for soap. Staff were pleasant and we really don't mind quirky places, but this just felt as though they were not prepared to spend money on the restaurant side probably concentrating more on the take-away business. So would not go again.

Always great service here. When I ate in the restaurant I found it a bit cramped, and I had to wait a while for the food. Prefer ordering their takeaway service. Great food either way.

I have eaten in the restaurant twice before a couple of years ago, after recommendations from a friend, lovely clean restaurant. 5 food hygiene rated. Now back In NP, used the delivery service after phoning in my order, saying that am a vegan, the advice given was knowledgeable, clear and understanding. My order arrived exactly the time I asked for delivery, and I got a free meal as quoted the offer on the website...Delicious, full of good food superbly cooked and flavoursome, and a great price wonderful place. Saturday night takeaway for one. Despite a long wait, started at 45mns ended up being an hour, the staff were accommodating and helpful. I wanted a Balti but fancied a spinach variation. Not on the menu but willing to make one for me. Delicious and worth the wait.

Don’t often leave reviews but this place is a gem. Staff are incredibly attentive and the food is amazing.

My partner and I visited this place last evening and we were absolutely delighted with not only the superb food but also the excellent service. We can highly recommended this restaurant.

The workforce are always friendly and the food is great, especially when you eat-in as its literally from the pan to the plate and is really delicious, as good as any expensive restaurant, really.

The meal was absolutely delucious and The Poppadoms were amazing, no grease at all & they were crunchy. The man serving us was very friendly & helpful. They were having a busy night with takeaway orders, but still made sure we were looked after. A thoroughly wonderful evening.

First time eating in. Its a small but perfectly formed restaurant, I liked the fact that it was alcohol free, good selection of soft drinks available. Food and service was exeptional would definately visit again.Make sure you book in advance as spaces limited, don't want to miss out.

Whenever I'm in the Milton Keynes area, I try to stop by or get a take-away at this fantastic little gem. Consistently good food - we've tried about half the menu, from mild, spicy to hot meat dishes and about all the side dishes. Never been disappointed! We usually get the Banquet Night deal (just 9.99/per person) or the 2 for 3 mains take-away deal, but even without those, it's such a wonderful, SO affordable, soothing treat! We always order rice or naan (to die for!) to accompany the mains, and we rarely finish the food. However, the friendly waiter will wrap leftovers for us, so we can enjoy another superb lunch next day. Tastes just as good re-heated. Highly recommended!

A good place for a great meal have been coming here for a few years now so just doing an updated review as have tried other places none are able to match the meals here have tried most of the items on the menu and have found them all to be of good quality always freshly cooked so you have to wait for your meal but I am happy with that best food around by far will be eating here for some time yet

The best and maybe the only place to have the Chicken Hari Mirchi....floating fresh green chillies.in a hot but flavoursome sauce...I'm not a great fan of masala but my family swear by this being the best locally. Kolkata is only a small restaurant but is all about the food and customer. Give it a try.

Absolutely outstanding curry house with a great range of dishes and probably the best naan ever. The takeaway is really good but going into the small dining room and eating the fresh dishes from the kitchen, is the better option. They don't sell beer but the food more than makes up for it.

Tiny little restaurant in Newport Pagnell but quite possibly the best curry I’ve had and that’s saying something because I’ve pretty much travelled the country sampling Indian restaurants. The wait times can be long but they are always honest upfront. The food is well worth the wait!

Great Takeaway. A really good curry. Cooked perfectly and ready to go spot on when they said. No messing around, just a great standard curry. Cant go wrong here. Will have to come back and dine in next time.

I've eaten in on 2 occasions and had numerous takeaways and the food is always great. They have no drinks licence but it certainly makes a pleasant change not to feel totally bloated out due to too much lager consumption after the meal!

We had a takeaway for a birthday celebration and were not disappointed. We tried the new Kolkata special which has a masala flavouring but with less sweetness. Always love the Hari Mirchi and veg riceHighly recommend

Don't let the small dining area fool you, no the fact that they don't serve alcohol. The gentleman who greeted us was very friendly and welcoming. The food is fresh, well presented and lovely flavors. It is one of the nicest curries I have had in a long time.

It was a pleasure dining here.In a very short notice the host was able to make seating arrangements and feed 17 people with fantastic indian cuisine.He treated all of us as any typical person from indian subcontinent would treat his guests.Thanks a lot for the fine dining experience.

The food is absolutely lovely, very well presented and full of flavour. The staff are attentive but not intrusive. Very reasonably priced and a good range of wines available. Would highly recommend.

Nice food, very attentive service and good decorative order. However I like very saucy dishes, so if you are looking for a Madras/vindaloo or something similar, I am afraid you will not find it here.

We usually use Arisia Lounge for all of our Indian cuisine needs but if we want a cheaper takeway we usually use Moza. Decided to try Kolkata based on reviews and the first time we had it the takeway was really good. Returned last night for a takeaway after work. Ordered at 19:20 and was told 30 mins, arrived at 20:10 to find a queue of people waiting for takeaways. Finally got home at 20:50 after sitting there for 40 minutes. The Masala heavily loaded with coconut when it doesn't mention it on the menu, my Vindaloo tasted like a Patak's jarred Vindaloo. Rice was dry and clumpy.Really poor experience.

Normally lovely food but have recently gone too heavy on the chillies.Great choice of food and although the décor does not look great the food has been amazing on occasions
