Chicken looks very bad in both biriyani and in starters

Excellent Indian Tapas! Today was my 101st visit to Papa J's for a collection of our favourites. Even though I don't live in Milton Keynes anymore, I still regularly pick some up on my way to to Northampton to enjoy at home. We've enjoyed their food for a number of years now and will continue to come back. (picture below is of my previous visit)

Great place, good food and great ambiance

Terrible service. We ordered a takeaway. When I arrived for collection the bag was already made up and ready for collection. Luckily I checked the items in the car as the bag felt lighter than expected and we had stuff missing from our overall order. I went back into the restaurant and highlighted it & staff member advised he will get those items sorted soon (no sorry or timings advised). When we got home and tried the food it was cold and some items were meat based so didn’t feel right eating them as weren’t sure if they were cooked correctly to relevant standards in the rush they were produced post complaint. Didn’t fancy getting food poisoning! I don’t understand how the restaurant has room to get stuff wrong when it’s always dead quiet in there? There’s no rush across the entire restaurant, yet stuff is going amiss in orders and food was utterly cold upon receipt. The staff seem so unbothered when you highlight missing items / issues. I would not recommended.

One of the finest south Indian restaurant in Miltonkeynes serves a wide variety of dishes from the heart of Telugu states.

Ordered their Veg biryani and Veg Manchurian multiple times. Biriyani is very authentic and Veg Manchurian is also good. Their Saturday brunch buffet is good as well.

Food is amazing,we went for Sunday buffet. It was too busy but they still managed it very well.

We went to Papa Js in Milton Keynes after a long time and were amazed at the quality of food and the service was nothing short of outstanding. Pradeep the owner has fantastic standards of customers service and looked after all our food needs and made the evening a thoroughly enjoyable dinner. I would recommend the cocktails, Mongolian paneer and the malai methi mattar. For a vegetarian the dishes are phenomenal. Thank you Pradeep for an amazing evening

Absolutely lovely place this is. We celebrated birthday party here and staff was really helpful and would go miles to cater your needs. Food was mouth watering and all guest commented on both food and hospitality of staff. Well done team Papa J's

We went on a Sunday, where there is a buffet available. Atmosphere was great and the staff were very friendly. We were able to enjoy a mix of vegetarian options along with some chicken dishes as well, all for a very reasonable price. Would definitely recommend going here with your family!

We’ve tried several restaurants in Milton Keynes, but none delivered the authentic Indian flavors quite like Papa J’s. The taste truly stands out! Their vegetarian options are excellent as well as service, and we absolutely loved the food. Highly recommend!

We had a dinner here and it was great experience. We ordered tapas and quantity and taste of good were amazing. We missed out on mains because of portion size of tapas and we ordered 3 b/w two. Service was amazing because of friendly staff. Definitely coming back soon.

We are regular visitors here as it has the best authentic food and the service is first class. Always made to feel very welcome and the food never disappoints. If the venison curry is on special it is amazing.

We have been to this restaurant several times. Each time the dishes are fresh, delicious, rich in original flavours, something wonderful! We had the pleasure of being served by Gayatri and Wasim, both were helpful in explaining the different dishes each time. Wasim is professional in every way. Gayatri with her smile will make anyone feel better :) I would definitely recommend yhis place because of the quality of the food and the service.

We've been there already a several times. Everytime the food was perfect, fresh and delicious. The customer service is one of the best I've ever experienced across the whole Europe. Wasim - manager, always smiling, kind, great recommendations. Gayatri- our favourite waitress, such a nice lady. Highly recommend this restaurant for all Indian cousins fans, also for beginners. The staff will explain everything and recommend the best choices.

Amazing local food, my mum loves the Paneer!

Ordered the family pack chicken biryani as a takeaway for dinner, expecting a satisfying meal. However, once we started eating at home, we noticed the biryani had a strong burnt smell, and the chicken pieces were charred. The entire dish tasted off and was clearly overcooked or reheated poorly. I called the restaurant immediately, and the owner admitted the biryani had been prepared earlier that morning. While he apologized and offered to refund the money, I declined—it wasn’t about the money but the overall experience. When you order food, especially from a place like Papaj's, you trust it will be fresh and enjoyable. Instead, it turned our dinner into a disappointment. Serving burnt food in a takeaway order shows a complete lack of care for customers. If they think they can get away with duping people for quick profits, they are mistaken. Avoid this place at all costs for takeaway!

Amazing food and the staff is very kind. The waiting time could improve as there were only two tables apart of us, but we had to wait a little bit long before the food was served. It was worth waiting tho. Highly recommend. It was my second time here after 2 years and the food is still very delicious.

Amazing dinner Super good service Delicious Food

Been going to Papa just for years and our last visit the food was not nice. This evenings food was back to its best, very tasty and very flavoursome. The service however was quite poor. Waited quite sometime for our drinks order, needed to go to the bar to get more drinks and Waited for ever for the food to be cleared once we went to the bar once again. Need more staff or more vigilant staff to pay more attention to the customers.

We’ve been there for dinner with family and the food was excellent but the service was horrible! We had to wait for the starter more than 30 minutes,other tables were served quicker who came to the restaurant after us,they forgot about one dish we ordered then again had to wait for the main more then half n hour! Asked for the bill and again seemed to be ignored till we stood up from the table and was getting our coats when finally we could pay. Its a shame as their food is delicious but the service was much much better with previous management.

Excellent evening from walking through the door to when we left. As a Friday night, we booked for an early slot (1815) and was surprised how quiet it was, but as the evening progressed it did become more busy, so if you are looking for later it is advisable to reserve a table. We ordered 4 tapas - chilly garlic mogo, paneer Mongolian, tandoori chicken, and crispy fried prawns. The mogo has always been a favourite as have many paneer dishes, the batter with prawns was a little soft- not soggy by any means but not as crispy as expected but didn't complain as they were amazing still! Large juicy prawns full of flavour as was the chicken, hubby found it a little too spicy but as he said, it's personal preference but still ate his share! Unfortunately, we forgot to ask our waiters' names, but full marks for courtesy, professionalism, and friendliness, another reason why we had such a lovely, relaxing evening and why we will be back soon. If you like excellent food, attentive staff and a nice evening out, Papa J's is your place.

Great food, quick service, kind staff highly recommend everything especially paneer butter masala and butter naan best thing that I ever tasted in my life they also give you discount vouchers for dry cleaning at the restaurant. Overall great location and there is always parking.

We were greeted with the floral smell of incense sticks and A beautiful idol decorated with garlands. As we entered, we were embraced with the warmth of the spices. The food was spectacular; the starters were ordered were sizzling hot and filled with flavour, while the main course was delicious. The staff were quite friendly and welcoming and treated us to some dessert as well! My family loved the food and the overall experience, and we would definitely come here again!

I tasted Papa J's food in a local event and quite liked it and am regular at there restaurant, I definitely recommend to try there Hyderabadi biryani and mirchi bajji in starters

The biryani here is almost like the real thing, full of flavour and cooked just right. The brunch options are also really good, with a nice variety of dishes that are well-prepared. A great spot for both biryani lovers and brunch seekers!
