Papa John's Pizza in Brighton and Hove

most bland pizza I’ve ever had, the dough is tasteless and needs salt and same with the sauce, and the pepperoni is not fatty or flavoursome it’s just chewy. Even after salting and putting some olive oil + hot sauce on it was still bad…

The service is absolutely disgusting, every one is super rude, there is this specific lady with a hijab and red top, out of the 6 people working there she has the nasties attitude in the whole shop, I wouldn’t recommend anyone buying from this shop specially if you have darker skin and come from Anywhere in Africa or the Caribbean. Although no matter where you are from chances are you will still receive the worst service of your life. I have seen people walk in with a smile and leave infuriated.. AVOID THIS SHOP

Driver either stole my order or gave it to the wrong address. No way to contact them and I have to email head office to ask for a refund. Never ordering from this store again.

Resorting to 3rd party delivery drivers who refuse to deliver. Was a good place when they had their own drivers but obviously "cost saving" has forced them to stop that.

Pizza's are good but service appalling. Obnoxious, ignorant, rude, blarsê. Could hear server on phone while I was waiting to be served then she came out with phone talking to friend..... I had to keep opening and closing the door so the buzzer would go off in order to annoy the server to actually come out to acknowledge me.... A big dirty look when she did come out.....

Driver stole our order & the shop didn’t think that was worth telling us. Had to call them to find out. Staff are really rude and honestly useless. Took emailing customer services to get a refund.

Placed an order on Uber eats at 1PM. It's now 5PM and still no food. Phoned up Papa Johns, the manager was rude as anything. The User driver must have ate the food on the way or something, so re-ordered the food.. Was undercooked, and was manky. Not ordereding from here, used to be a good place, not anymore.

The food was stone cold. The driver went to FALMER before even coming to me. This is disgusting.

The pizzas were delivered cold had to warm up in the oven before we could eat them, had to order from you as you were the only pizza place open and you could not get our order right

Wrong house I ain’t got my food

Charged for 2 large pizzas got 2 small pizzas for £27 . Pizzas weren’t great either. I don’t think I’ll come back !!! I would advise others not to go here

Food is dry and not tasty. Garlic Sticks are over cooked and same with Cinnamon sticks, same as Garlic bread but just topped with a spice. Instead of ordered BBQ wings they brought chicken nuggets again dry and not tasty. Disappointed, dissatisfied and will never order again. In the past it was really good place, but now completely disgusting.

The delivery guy was delivering the order at the wrong address. Earlier I lost another order like this, for which I have been denied the refund. It is really sad that when I provide my phone number to contact me, they choose to not use it and prefer to deliver at the wrong address.

I present to you, Papa John’s infamous “double pepperoni” pizza. Succinctly burnt with extra chewy inedible dough, a wonky shape akin a stroke victim, and the haunting unanswerable question, “how little pepperoni would there be on a normal pepperoni pizza?” All of my pizzas and sides came in a similar menacingly overcooked and poorly thrown together format - so much so, I had to throw away more than three quarters of my order. This is my first time trying Papa John’s as well; lucky was I to have not had this experience up until now, I miss those blissfully ignorant days already - unaware of how good I had it.

Ordered a collection. The pizza was well made and tasted delicious and fresh. The staff was very polite. Top marks!

Got my order completely wrong waited hours for the wrong pizzas to arrive stone cold and tasted stale and disgusting, called and complained, manager promised refund as she said it was too late to send out a new order, kept chasing and chasing every week, and everytime they said it would be paid in 5 days, it’s been 3 months now still no refund, now a new manager has come in he said “it’s not his problem and won’t refund me” was very rude on the phone tried to remind him that’s not how consumer law works in the UK and he can’t just refuse to refund something which has already been agreed by the same company, kept interrupting me and said it’s not his problem go online and complain (which I have with no response) then eventually hung up and won’t answer the phone. Will do a charge back through bank anyway but they’ve just lost a load of customers (used to place orders for corporate firm) but I can see from the other views this place is worse than ever now with appalling management that are too lazy to even speak on the phone let alone make good pizza.

Delivered on time but both food items where cold/look warm and missing a 1.5ltr soft drink but still charged, very unhelpful on the phone and rude

Pizzas do not look like in other papa johns . Like no effort put in to it. But it was edible.

Waited an hour to be told the pizza oven wasn't working properly. Then every five minutes the guy kept saying "ready in two minutes". This went on for twenty minutes, he lied.

Worse takeaway I have had in a long time. As a treat for my child’s birthday we ordered a takeaway supper so disappointing. The order was wrong, we ordered a pizza with the onions taken off and they ignored this completely and it was covered in onions, so this went in the bin. Paid 59p each for 4 dips and they were all wrong and not the ones we had ordered. The food was over cooked and Luke warm. The pizzas boxes looked like someone had been sat on them for the journey. There were burned bits on everything. The garlic bread was so dry and chewy it was hard to eat and didn’t taste like there was any garlic on it at all. Waste of money I would never order from here again and the thought of having food from here makes me feel sick, never again.

Ordered a pizza and some sides, my order arrived an hour later, missing the extra dips I paid for and the vegan pizza I ordered came with bits of pepperoni on it. Called to try and get it sorted, was told the manager is busy and will get back to me, it’s been 4 days and nobody called. Next time will be ordering from domino’s, at least when they make a mistake they amend it, at least from my experience.

So disappointing - I highly suggest to order from elsewhere. The tracker never updated to let me know food was on the way - I had to call twice and my food finally arrived 2 hours later and stone cold! Shocking. Staff seemed friendly enough but are seriously letting themselves down with their levels of service. There are plenty of other delivery choices in Brighton so this Papa John’s branch really need to buck their ideas up!

Hard to review food I haven't received however 2 hrs after placing my order I'm furious. No food, no answer on the phone, no update on their tracker. Do I go elsewhere and risk not getting a ref at some point in the future... I daren't I can't af this. Utterly useless!

Absolutely terrible - took our order, it looked to be progressing, via on line updates, but nothing ever arrived. I don't mind if you're too busy to take the order, but why keep us hanging on, for over 2 hours, for an order your not going to deliver?

I find myself wanting to save you all the heartache and bother. This is around the 3rd time of complete failures from this store. The last attempt I shall make using this service. I ordered a pizza 7:05 last night. I ended up going to bed. I see at 22:19 it was completed. Yet no delivery as proved on the ring doorbell. Again. No call this time. No cancellation from them with no warning. Just took the money and never delivered. Shocking awful store. Don’t waste your time or money. Go to somewhere you will get food.

Dreadful service, pizza ordered at 5:30 for a 7:30 delivery - not arrived 40 minutes after scheduled time, phone not being answered - customer lost

DONT ORDER FROM HERE!! Took 1 and a half hours to arrive so everything was stone cold, received the wrong drink and all the quality seals on the boxes were open and torn. When I tried to get compensation they were closed because they took so long to deliver it, and so now I'll have to wait till Monday. Absolutely terrible, never ordering from here again!

Waited 3 hours Tried to call no response, accept its busybut shoukdnt give a 1 hour time limit. Food arrived cold, all of it. Paid with card that was a mistake. Had no choice but to wait. Won't use again. Read reviews to see if it's worth it!!!!

Order is over an hour late and they aren't picking up their phone, just order from dominos or pizza hut.

Wasn't the best Papa John's we've had, the new stuffed crust pepperoni, well the cheese inside wasn't melted, wasn't even warm so picking a slice up it just opened up and fell out like dropping a sandwich. Also the garlic breads I never find taste like there is any garlic on there, I have raised this with staff many times but unfortunately customers aren't listened to. My partners fav is the WORKS pizza its the only one he likes and even he was disappointed this time round.

Was having a really rough day recently, morning the loss of her majesty the Queen, god bless her soul, and decided to treat myself to some pizza. I went to collect my food and got talking to the woman at the counter who instantly cheered me up, asking me about my day, and even offering condollences for my loss, it made my day. The pizza and sides were fantastic, it completely filled the gap left in my heart left by that tragic, awful day, and instead left me feeling whole again. Thank you, 5 stars.

Absolutely awful service. Ordered from them just to get an email after waiting an hour to say there was a problem with the order. When called they said the kitchen was closed and had been since 10pm. Refund will take 3-5 working days so cannot get another takeaway tonight. When you are closed why are you able tk Rob my money? orders should not be able to be placed. Disgusting. Avoid at all costs. Happens time and time again. Constant disappointment and unhelpful staff. When the person on the phone went to get a pen and paper they left me on hold and never came back. Such a shame.

I'd rather give up pizza, than order from here again! The last 6 months, we've ended up in a shouting match because we live (in the same road!) somewhere that doesn't come up on THEIR map. We have had cold, smushed up food and, missed items or delivered wrong items. Tonight is the last straw. Not only did it take nearly 2hours to get to us, but the driver (a deliveroo driver at that), told me the food we ordered was sat at the pass for so long, they had to remake it, and then proceeded to tell me that he is was sent to the wrong address. Enough is enough..........

Walked in 15 mins after closing and they were kind enough to let us order and made us our pizzas there and then. Thank you for great customer service :)

This store is RIDICULOUSLY slow without fail. The average wait is at least an hour, today it’s 90 minutes and still no word. Complaints make no difference Honestly, avoid, even if you’re starving – get a Dominos! Edit: 3 hours later, my pizza never came and it took a fortnight to get a refund. Don’t go here!

They were using a different delivery driver to usual, who caused confusion. But I have to say Mikka was so so lovely on the phone and so helpful. She went above and beyond to put it right. Thank you!

Cancelled our order after waiting for just under an hour and after the tracker saying that our order had been made and was being quality checked. Had a missed call from them so tried to call them back 7 times and no answer. Shocking. Don't waste your time.

I don’t take time to review places i go to but I had to make an exception for this “so called” restaurant. First things first, the waiting time is bloody horrible. They could give you a heads up but they don’t which is an issue. Secondly we got to talk about the overall experience being bloody dreadful. However i was famished and i was able to eat a very nice juicy pizza that i enjoyed. I have been to many places around the world and this one is decent but lacks creativity. Peace out everyone and stay healthy!

I drove down to collect 20 minutes after placing the order and the employees hadn't even started the order. There were not even any customers as it was 1.30pm on a Wednesday. The staff clearly have no idea what they're doing!

No sign of food. Rung at least 15 times, no answer. Why does this place continue to accept orders from Uber or just eat if they are struggling to keep up with the demand? They can’t even service customers over the phone. Avoid this place like the plague. Seriously horrendous Update - team in the store under a lot of pressure. Not enough drivers to facilitate deliveries. Senior management give your heads a wobble.

Twice now we’ve placed an order online just to receive an email saying “there has a been a problem” and to call the shop. First time there was no answer on the phone despite multiple calls and we had to wait weeks for a refund and the second time they answered eventually but told us that they were just too busy. Won’t be ordering again.

Going back to try Domino's after my last 2 experiences. Hour + delivery(1.5), cold/luke warm and toppings much less than a while back.Shame, I always gave it 5 *

Ordered food 2 hours ago, no update. No answer on the phone. Place is useless , happens every single time and they don’t do nothing about it. Sometime lucky to get a refund in 6 weeks!! Plave needs be shut down. Still awaiting my food and 99% sure won’t get a refund again. Usless EVERYONE STAY AWAY

High turn over of staff means none are trained to do the job at hand, lack customer service skills, seriously understaffed. Rude, missing orders, delayed .. just boycott!! Only one member of staff turely deserves praise I don't know his name but his underpaid and overworked, he was very polite, apologetic, seems like he would go above and beyond. Without him this branch would be closed. Generally, food is alright 👍

Can’t believe I’ve ordered food at 8.30 and now it’s 11clock with still no food I been trying to call back to get my money they don’t answer the phone

Ordered a dairy free pizza and it came with dairy cheese. My wife is dairy intolerant and fortunately we spotted it wasn't the right cheese before eating as she would have become very ill indeed. It seems that this branch has gone massively down hill in recent months. The staff on the floor seem like they're doing their best when I spoke to them but they're clearly hugely over stretched and the management has very little regard for them or the customers. The staff told me that the management would arrange to speak to me at a later date but we never received a phone call. A real shame and a health and safety nightmare waiting to happen.

Had to wait 45 mins for them to even start proofing the order. I called to ask what was happening with my order was passed to the manager. He told me they are very busy and my order would be done when they have time and they have no delivery drivers so are waiting for a third party to be available to deliver. I asked to cancel and was told to contact customer services who were closed at that time. He then said when it turns up cold I would be able to get a refund. I couldn’t believe what he actually said. How ever a few minutes later the app said my order was in the oven. An hour and half later it arrived sausage and pepperoni pizza with no pepperoni. The Greek pizza with very few toppings except cheese. Contacted customer services told the store would be in contact but no contact. Followed up with customer service who still haven’t been in contact. I have used Papa Johns more times than I should of and the service from other stores has been very good however this store has something very very wrong with it. Would avoid at all costs.

Terrible terrible terrible. 2 and half hours after ordering my pizzas they arrived cold. I live about 5 minutes walk away from this premises. Did they walk them over? Hungry people are not to be played with. Do not offer services you cannot literally deliver. It's probably best for you to be a Collection Only pizza shop. Judging by all the other similar comments.

It used to be good and now you have a 50/50 chance you’ll even get something within 3-4 hours. Don’t ever order for delivery. They obviously have staffing issues but I don’t understand why they accept orders when they can’t fulfil them. An independent takeaway would never get away with it. Staff seem aggrieved that you would even question why the pizza hadn’t even been made yet 2+ hours after ordering, and annoyed you would call them. Anyway I’m really ill, no food in the house, but jokes on me for thinking I’d get an “easy” dinner in; when I have been left with nothing at all.

The worst 2hours 35 minute wait to be told over the period of an hour and a half it was just down the road that's probably cost the shop is just down the rd. I cancel my order to be told I can't get a refund. The staff are rude and in helpfull Have these people never heard the line the customer is always right. Guess not . So I've now been charged 30 pound for food we didn't receive and refused a refund.

Terrible service. Waited 2 hours and then called to ask where it was I was told they had called to cancel as no drivers. I explained no one had called me. Manager was adamant I had been called. I was not. No sincere apology or offer to compensate for no food. I would not recommend this place.

Really lovely employees, very understanding and compassionate after me making a mistake that was my own fault.

Unfortunately I did not get to eat my pizza due the fact it contained dairy cheese instead of vegan cheese. I have a dairy allergy and could tell immediately when I saw the pizza it was dairy cheese. I phoned the Lewes Road store immediately to ask for them to collect the pizza and issue a refund. Initially the staff member refused to do either. He claimed he was unable to issue a refund and said he would call his manager. He apparently could not get in touch with his manager. They did eventually collect the pizza. However I do not have a refund. I was waiting for the store manager to get in touch today. This has not happened. The Lewes Road store was totally unprofessional. The attitude of the employee was not one that was conscious or respectful of allergies and dietary requirements. The lack of follow-up today is very concerning. They now have my pizza and my money. I definitely won't be buying from Papa John's again.

Garbage. Food late, cold and poor. Customer service abysmal. Don't touch. Regarding the reply from Papa John'sbelow - I have already tried three times raising this with "Customer Service" which are on record and the review was posted only *after* their abysmal response ( including both from the store *and* customer service by email. )

This place is terrible. If you place an order they either get it wrong and have to resend it. Or they don't deliver it at all and make out they have. Food is good if you're prepared for their mistakes.

I only gave 1 star as 0 stars wasn’t an option! Ordered on 2nd October as had family round. Placed our order at 20:30 and was told it would be delivered between 21:15-21:35. Rang at 21:50 to find out where it was, to be told it was on its way, even before we’d given any details as to who we were or what order we are calling about! Clearly this place is so useless they give the nonsense excuses right from the get go! After calling another two times, we finally cancelled our order at 22:30, a full 2 hours since we first ordered! Will certainly never waste our time with this absolute joke of a pizza place. This review applies to this Papa Johns specifically, we have used the one in Hastings before when we’ve been over that way, and it is a world apart from this shower of s***e! Avoid at all costs, or go to bed hungry/hangry!!

Terrible customer service, the manager was rude over the phone. defo would not come here again. tried to order a pizza and they put me on hold for 30 minutes. the worker was terrible an i had to speak to the manager who was lazy and hung up the phone half way through. Offering students 'free' pizza as long as you spend £13 on delivery.

Ordered from here for the first time. Pizzas were really good, was delivered within half an hour of ordering and delivery driver was polite & friendly. Will definitely order again!

Always great pizza. Good selection of toppings to choose from. Loads of deals and earn points every time you order on the app towards free pizza or other yummy treats. Quick on delivery and collection.

Quite nice pizzas - very expensive unless you opt for a deal - there are several. Student and collection discounts. There are better value and tastier independent pizza places in Brighton & Hove.

Just called the store to complain about my rock solid, uneatable cookie I ordered to be told it's just 'like that' and that they weren't going to send out a replacement...terrible customer service.

very poor service...food delivered after 1 hour 30 mins. then got wrong order had someone else's! when did eventually get our order was cold and not cooked properly! phoned them this morning...been up all.night with upset stomach!! for a rude response from worke4 there saying everything is cooked properly! well I'm afraid to tell you it's not always the case. not sorry!! no refund!! no nothing!! so won't be getting my service anymore!

Service is fast and convenient the staff are great and will always try to give you realistic time on how long your pizza is going to be. If you live close they deliver the pizza by hand to your house so listening out for the car pulling up isn't always the best.

Love them! Always lush fresh pizza! Polite and easy staff... quick and on time delivery! But my dips have been wrong a couple of times. But cant fault them!

Can’t fault the staff at the store, always friendly and helpful, because I live at the back of the house in a separate build I always call and request the delivery driver calls as I won’t hear the door. I had the driver call me and was very abrupt and said he had knocked 3 times and I stated I had requested a call back for that reason, no apology from the driver, nothing.

Had pizza delivered tonight. Both pizzas burnt. Called up and the chap I spoke to was helpful, apologised and said they would remake. Great service. That is where the good customer service ended. The delivery driver who redelivered the pizza was ignorant and incredibly rude. His whole manner and conduct was appalling. Complaint made to PJs head office.

Ordered from here plenty of times, very rarely a mistake or late. Pizza tastes amazing and is well made.

Pizza is quite alright, but look out for discount codes as these can make your order much cheaper. Use a browser extension like Honey to do that. Only real gripe with the food is the truly disgusting buttery garlic dip they give with the pizza. Literally every other fast food pizza place in Brighton does a better (creamy) dip.

The corn on the cob was tasteless a dreadful colour dry over cooked but the pizza was fine but far too expensive

Just had pizza delivered,so unhappy pizzas were cold,crushed and not good at all, no cheese? Could off rang up complaining and got replacement but been at work all day kids hungry needed feeding couldn't wait,thank goodness for microwave's would never order from the Lewes road branch AGAIN!!!!
