Palmers in Tower Hamlets

Fourth visit to Palmers in about a year and a half. It’s fast becoming my favourite restaurant in London. The menu is different every time so there’s always something to discover. Oysters on ice, lobster, rabbit, steak tartare, monkfish - if you’re a foodie you’ll love it. Gorgeous staff too. Long may it prosper!

Unbelievably good local restaurant. Always wonderful and brilliant value for money. Scallops and morcilla tonight was fantastic, followed by cod with puy lentils and fennel, finished with panacotta, all utterly amazing. Fabulous waiter. Can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. You must go there.

First visit to Palmers on recommendation by my daughter. Had a really lovely evening. Food was exceptional and enjoyed a lovely friendly evening.

Palmers was so nice Nice atmosphere & ambience Food was lovely, we both had their sirloin steak which was beautiful, their chips are to die for. Both starters & deserts were so nice as well. Nice service & I like a restaurant where customers can see the chefs at work cooking in the kitchen, will definitely be returning...

All their food is amazing, but we particularly look forward to their fish which they excel at and honestly is some of the best fish we’ve found in London

Went back again for Sunday lunch. Really enjoyed it - had the roast pork belly with all the trimmings. This is our go-to local restaurant. It is good food, close by, nice people who run it, and the menu is well thought out, but not extensive (3-4 choices for each course.). I recommend the margaritas. This is no fuss dining at a reasonable price and worth supporting.

Welcoming and friendly staff, small menu which was different to the online menu - reflective of the menu being changed to provide fresh options and it was gorgeous - we didn’t have starters and all our main courses were so tasty. The cocktails and wine selection was varied and lovely. The sweets were delectable, finest baked cheesecake on the planet!!!! All in all, it was a fabulous find.

Went for a family meal on a Sunday afternoon. Sunday roasts were the best we've had in London and not too expensive, and it was good that the rest of the menu was also available so we had other options too. The plaice was perfectly cooked. Nice selection of wines. Buzzy atmosphere, good service and nicer ambience inside than it looks like from the street! A hidden gem, we will be back.

We went for dinner here and had oysters to start, steak and burgers for main and cheese and icecream for dessert. The food was unbelievably delicious, service impeccable and it didn't break the bank. I can't recommend enough. Fantastic wine selection too. A hidden gem!

KAREN IS AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. We love this place for the food, but the staff is horrible and I won’t be going back. She walked away in the middle of my friend ordering because it wasn’t happening fast enough, and went to the back to mock her and complain to another employee. She THEN HAD THE AUDACITY to blame my friend instead of apologizing when I called her out on the behavior. She is terrible and rude and I’m unsure how she still has a job. Takes much more effort to be terrible than it does to be nice.

Great food, very fresh and amazingly well cooked. Very good service. Impressed by this unassuming local family run restaurant, We will definitely be back.

First time out with friends after lockdown. Very quiet as expected but very covid safe. Food was nice and my steak lovely. Friends sea bass was small and just ok nothing special. Prices too high for what you get

Our New Year’s Eve family meal at Palmer’s was the perfect welcome to the new year. Everything from the quality dishes, including fresh oysters, to the warm ambience and welcoming team created an absolute brilliant experience. This restaurant is a hidden treasure. Thanks team.

We come to this local restaurant all the time and have done for years! It’s a part of the local landscape; run by 3 lovely brothers and provides amazing food with warm welcomes. Tonight I took my family for a pre- Christmas meal. We had cod with a girolle ravioli, smoked salmon with beetroot and grapefruit and an amazing Moroccan lamb, amongst other dishes. The service was (as always) warm, relaxed and friendly. If you’re local then you must visit. The food and experience is fantastic. You won’t be disappointed.

The worst experience of my life. Incapables. I called the restaurant twice at 7pm, one time to check availability for six people and another one to confirm the table for 8pm. When I arrived there - obviously in six of us - after waited for an hour the staff lost my booking. There were non table or any space for us so the staff ask them to go. Incapables!!! I’ve never been treated like this in all my life. This is a not service. I wasted my time and spoiled our evening. I recommend to don’t go there if you don’t want to feel nullity.

Visited Palmers for a Friday evening meal with family. On the whole the food was fine but nothing to write home about. One of us had the lamb which was a little fatty/tough and the vegetarian option (usually a risotto) is a little boring and could do with rotating more with the rest of the menu. The steaks were good however and the chocolate pudding was very tasty. The atmosphere was a little glum and we were sat directly next to the kitchen which has no proper door over it - eating in a darkened restaurant but having bright white light and noise flooding at you from the kitchen ruins the atmosphere. Service was fine but not sure the service charge justified this. On the whole, the meal was fine but not a place I'll be rushing back to when there's so much other choice.

I don’t think I need to say any more than the title. Been here a few times now, all with different friends and they are all so impressed by the food.

Wonderful as always. One of the best ribeyes in London. This is a hidden gem in Bethnal Green/Bow. Worth a visit.

Superb restaurant. We have been going since it opened and the consistency and quality are remarkable. For us its the best Sunday Roast in East London - even surpassing Hawksmoor.

Went for the first time to this restaurant slightly off the beaten track. Attentive service and warm ambience. We enjoyed nice cocktails to start. The roasts were fantastic and probably the best I have had in years with very generous portions. We will be back!

Really really fantastic Sunday roast and cocktails!

Our food was well cooked and beautifully presented. The butternut squash, spinach and goats cheese tart I had was really delicious, with mouth-watering flavours and melt in the mouth pastry. The service was friendly and attentive but not overbearing. I will be visiting Palmer's again very soon!

The restaurant was excellent for food and service and the price was reasonable, unfortunately even though they had seating outside they had no ashtrays so people had to throw their cigarette butts in the street.

I went here with the girls last week. Firstly, let me just say that the service was good/excellent in fact. It's a nice little location and very, very clean with nice toilets (a plus). The guy who served us was really friendly too. What I had an issue with was the level of salt in my food.

You cannot beat Palmers. Whilst the setting and the ambience may not be its selling point, the food is ALWAYS amazing! I go to fancy places for work and always leave disappointed, thinking ‘it would be so much better at Palmers...’. The Sunday roast is simply the best!

I had eaten here quite a while back but just hadn't had the chance to re-visit. All things considered the Sunday Roast is simply amazing for the quality, taste and value. I had the crisp roast belly pork and it was delicious - exactly as it should be, tender meat and crisp, crunchy crackling. Although we were completely full with just the main course, we succumbed to a panna cotta dessert shared between us. At the risk of me not being able to get a table easily in future, I recommend Palmers as an absolute must for the best roast on a Sunday.

Great experience at Palmer's. I just wish more people knew about this place - it should be booked out every night. Excellent food and really good service. Superb for wheelchairs too.

Vale la pena un desvío para platos bien preparados desde un menú con gusto. La lista de vinos es corta pero contiene deliciosas opciones, astuto. Precios Moderados y espaciados mesas añadir a encanto palmeras" que merece un reconocimiento más amplio.

A pesar de que el resto del restaurante estaba lleno, tuvimos absolutamente un gran servicio y la comida estaba muy bien preparada y presentada. Todos en nuestro grupo era exaltar el lugar por el tiempo que a la izquierda. Gran cosas.

Palmeras es un pequeño tesoro. La comida siempre es buena y el servicio es amable. Es nuestro 'ir a 'lugar para cenas relajado con amigos. El pescado y la carne son siempre de alta calidad, el menú siempre tiene una buena opción para vegetarianos y las porciones son generosas, pero no demasiado. Mi única duda en escribir esto es que tienes que empezar a reservar una mesa!

Have lived in the area for many years and finally made it to Palmers this evening. Really lovely staff and the food was delicious. I'm always wary as a vegetarian when I only have one choice, but both my starter and main were delicious. My bloke's steak was big and had great flavour. So well worth the wait and hopefully we'll be back soon.

Tonight our party of 6 was treated to an excellent three course meal, with wine and cocktails for less than £42 per head.

Excellent night out. Food was tasty, well cooked and good portions. Service discreet but spot on. Menu was varied and all the options looked delicious. A real gem in the East End.

Great food, the Sunday Roasts are exceptional with Yorkshire puddings nearly the size of the plate! Very good food, reasonably priced and excellent friendly service make it a place we keep coming back to. Would highly recommend.

A strong favourite for many years which has never failed us! Family run & independent the service here is excellent & always friendly - ask for what the brothers recommend that day! Wonderful home style cooking full of flavour with fresh ingredients. A shame these guys don't open Mondays as they'd be the perfect start to the week.

My son has just moved to Roman Road so we chose to visit Palmers for my birthday lunch. There wasn't a huge choice but everything was lovely. I started with steamed clams with chorizo and it was delicious, the others loved their starters too. We all opted for a roast, 2 beef and 4 belly pork which we all thoroughly enjoyed. None of us had room for a dessert but we shared an interesting cheese board and as it was my birthday I had a fabulous Espresso Martini!

Friendly service, good menu choice and excellent food. Recommend all but especially the Sunday roasts. Will definitely visit again.

Went for early dinner so we were only ones in restaurant. Bream and poussin were both delicious though the haddock was less so.

Hemos estado yendo a palmeras durante 7 años y siempre he tenido consistentemente excelentes comidas allí. Los asados del domingo es fantástico, delicioso y bien de precio. Pero, sinceramente, todo lo que hemos comido allí de bistec, arancini, pasta, caldereta de pescado, han sido increíbles. La ubicación y la decoración puede no ser Mayfair, o Soho, pero siempre me encanta mi comida allí. Altamente recomendado!

The food is consistently excellent and very reasonable. We have our book club there every 6 weeks and it has always been brilliant.

Went here for dinner (right near our flat and have always noticed it). The food was simply excellent, we had steaks and they were huge and very very good (the accompanying sauces really good also). There was a great selection of cocktails also. Having been past a few times we've noticed the menu also changes regularly so gives us a reason to plan another visit soon!

We visited Palmers for Sunday Lunch with friends who had been before. The Food was scrumptious and the service was excellent. Three of us had Sunday Roast one of the party had fish. The Desserts were delicious.Overall enjoyable and good value .

This was our 3rd or 4th visit to Palmers. Not local & have only been therefor lunch (Saturday and Sunday) when in the area. We had heard Sunday lunches there were very popular - very busy but great food and service. Would certainly recommend and return. Some different dishes with a twist & excellent sauces. Family business. Wish them well.

Fred and I went to Palmers for Sunday lunch on January 15th. We had booked for 1 o'clock and there was a slight hesitancy when the waiter could not find our reservation. This was quickly resolved!We have been to Palmers before, and had a good idea of what to expect.We started with a raspberry gin and tonic for Fred, and a Brumby for me ( a concoction of gin and apple with a blackberry liquer). Very nice too.For starters we both chose the smoked haddock and bacon chowder. If you have ever wondered what chowder should taste like; this was it.We then made our choice from the Sunday roasts: Fred having roast beef, with the pork belly for myself. We selected a bottle of Chinon as an accompaniment.Both of our main courses came as large portions, with cabbage, carrots and parsnips, plus a large Yorkshire pudding with some well flavoured gravy.It was during the eating of my main course that I encountered a problem. A large, hard rosemary twig ended up in my mouth and proved difficult to remove.I showed it to the waiter and he said "rosemary! I will show it to my brother, whom we assumed was the chef". He returned and again said "rosemary" but with no apology.That is the reason that we did not top rate Palmers.We had desserts. Fred opting for fruit strudel wit ice-cream, whereas I had the lemon and cardamom pannacotta. Both very nice and a good finish to our meal.We did not have coffee or further drinks. Our bill came to £105 including 12.5% service which was not bad for such a good quality restaurant.Such a pity that the issue with the rosemary was not better handled.

Shame on me for not sticking to Palmers on 3 different Sundays . I thought I might try some of the "top reviewed" Sunday Roast eateries on Time Out..and the result was bitter disappointed. I cannot believe that these would even make an entry, let alone a 'Top 10" list!! Palmers gravy, (which has no thickeners by the way) takes 8 hours to make and is the most delicious and satisfying I have ever tasted. The meat is tender and the chicken literally falls off the bone ..the service is discreet and professional and the atmosphere relaxed and comforting. If you are looking for comfort, taste, quality and satisfaction, you are in the right place.

We come here very regularly my brother and I. We simply love it, the service is perfect, the food is great, the cooks are nice, and it is a very good deal.It is simply my favorite restaurant in London. You should go without hesitating a second.Thanks to the Palmers team!

Food was very good. Portion size was very good. Service is friendly and good. An enjoyable evening with friends.

We've been 3 times to Palmers now for the Sunday Roast. It's very good and comes at a good price, especially given the quality of the ingredients. Most pubs around would charge more than £13 for a roast and would not even come close to this quality. The beef is tender and tastes great with the homemade horseradish sauce. The vegetables and potatoes are not soggy from an avalanche of gravy as they use mainly jus from the meat, which makes the roast lighter and tastier. I don't like Yorkshire pudding but according to my partner it is really good (and gigantic) in there. Highly recommended. You might want to book on a Sunday as it's quite full (but never noisy).

Sunday lunch at this neighbourhood restaurant. The mood in the half-full restaurant was cosy. The decor tries to be slightly above basic, but with stock photos on the walls it's no design paradise. Service was friendly.I didn't go for the Sunday roasts, which seemed to be thing on Sundays, but took the only vegetarian option, deep-fried cauliflower, instead.The cauliflower was fine, nicely crunchy and cooked right. The menu, however, said that it would come with cucumber-radish-coriander salad and yoghurt sauce. Instead, it came with slightly vinegared cucumber-watercress-pomegranade salad and mayonnaise. Greasy mayonnaise wasn't what I'd expexted and coriander would have really worked with the dish. Too bad. Nevertheless, many other people looked happy with their food, so I guess I just ordered the wrong dish.

I was here for the Sunday roast on the bank holiday weekend. Very tasty including giant Yorkshire pudding and lots of vegetables. I had the roast beef, which was very tender. There was a choice of three roasts plus half a dozen or so other mains. I did not need to reserve. Nice friendly staff. The tiramisu served in the little pot was very nice as well. Service was good as well. Roast, dessert, soft drink and service came to around £22 so excellent value and better than the gastro pub competition.

we've been coming here for many years and every time we dine here we are always impressed that, without fail, the food is excellent. Interesting combinations and very good value.

My wife and I had a very good meal at Palmers last week. It is in Globe Town just 2 minutes from the canal side at Victoria Park where we moored up and then looked for somewhere to eat. The restaurant is in a modern building and the décor inside is clean and simple. The menu is short but with a selection for most tastes. The food was fresh and well cooked and the portion sizes were generous. The owners were very welcoming and service was attentive without being over fussy. We would definitely go again.

The food is up there with the best that you will have in London. I feel a bit ripped off when eating in a London high end restaurant, knowing that I can have as good or usually better at Palmers. Difficult to beat in my opinion, do yourself a favour and book. Pleased to report that the rather off putting 80's pictures have now been replaced with some great local scenes, well done for doing that boys, it makes the space much more pleasant.

Returned to Palmers recently - my favourite local restaurant. Still as good as ever. Imaginative menu, lovely food, generous portions. Good cocktails too. Service excellent and all in a peaceful, attractive atmosphere where you are not sitting on top of the next table. What more could you want?
