The old fire station in Tower Hamlets

Last winter, I had a relaxed walk from Canary Wharf to the foot tunnel to Greenwich. In the way, we found this interesting Old Fire Station. Enjoyable experience at affordable price!!

Came in for the first time today and it was absolutely lovely. I had the healthy breakfast and everything was cooked wonderfully. My fiance had the big breakfast and it was also very good! The service was lovely and I would highly recommend!

Amazing breakfast for decent price, friendly service, great ambient atmosphere. Got the english breakfast - bacon was perfectly crispy, hashbrown had a fresh and seasoned taste, mushroom were well seasoned and perfect texture, eggs runny as should be, sausage was perfeclty fried up. One of the best english breakfasts Ive had for only 11 pounds

We had lunch here and it was absolutely delicious! The flavours were fresh, and every dish was perfectly prepared. From the starters to the main course, everything was seasoned just right and beautifully presented. The ingredients were clearly of high quality, and the portions were generous. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal. It’s definitely a place we’ll be returning to!

Have driven by many times as my son lives a short walk away and this place always looks busy. Finally found the time to go in and was very impressed. Cracking variety of menu choices, excellent food at sensible prices and friendly efficient service. I will definitely go again.

I can't recommend The Old Fire Station highly enough! The place is steeped in history with a unique charm that blends the old and new beautifully. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a casual day out or a special occasion. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, going above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. The menu offered a delightful selection of food and drinks including cocktails all of which were delicious and reasonably priced. They also have tables outside. It’s a great spot to relax and people-watch or soak up the sunshine on a nice day.

Great local place for a nice lunch - set menu is really good value and plenty of variety. Food was fresh and very tasty. Quirky decor. Only slight downside is the road is very busy.... and noisy when the doors are open .

I don’t usually leave reviews but I was moved to on this occasion, mainly for the free coffee, but not to detract from the excellent food and friendly service. Perfect juicy chicken, delicious arancini. A cool old fire station well reimagined into a restaurant.

Chicken and lamb were overcooked, real effort to cut it. Grilled mushrooms had no salt and they didn’t really have any Turkish desserts. If you’re Turkish, this place likely won’t hit just right but if you’re looking for something lowkey and relatively quick, this is just that. Staff was extremely friendly and good.

After a walk by the river, a lovely evening as always at The Old Fire Station with the air cooling just slightly (only 25 degrees C now). Set off nicely by a glass of Arcano Pinot Grigio followed by the same winemaker’s slightly sweeter Rose, then some of the OFS’s best white wine, Çankaya to finish.

A short stroll from the Mudchute Farm and around the corner from the Island Garden DLR, this hidden gem serves set lunch with a good range of choices We like especially the chocolate brownie with a perfectly right degree of sweetness that came with a small cone of ice cream The vibe is cozy and relaxing especially for tables facing the street

Lovely first experience and good value for money

Wonderful Experience with Exceptional Service from Aleyna Our recent visit to this hidden gem in the area was truly delightful, largely due to our amazing server, Aleyna. The environment was good and the music taste as well! The food was flavorful and well worth the price (hard to say in London). Each dish we tried, except for one, was fantastic. Unfortunately, the chicken schnitzel was a bit dry and didn't taste as fresh as it should have. However, Aleyna handled our concern with professionalism, promptly apologizing and graciously offering us a complimentary replacement from the menu. While we appreciated Aleyna's exceptional service, our interaction with the owner could have been handled better. He approached our table to explain that there was nothing wrong with the chicken schnitzel. Although we respected his opinion, we felt it was unnecessary to be told how the chicken should have tasted to us. Despite this minor hiccup, our overall experience was wonderful, and we look forward to returning. The fantastic food and Aleyna's service ensure we'll be back again soon. This review would have been five stars if not for the dry chicken schnitzel and the owner's approach. Nevertheless, we highly recommend this place.

A hidden gem indeed. Chanced upon this place without any idea it was already popular. And I was absolutely delighted with my experience as well. :) The food tasted like the chef deeply cared about what it would be received like. The portion size was great, the taste as authentic as it gets and the cocktails were wow! I’d lost my interest in cocktails with how diluted they make them everywhere. But here, they were top class too! Thanks to Elena & Miraya for their lovely and friendly hospitality. :)

The atmosphere is great, restaurant is situated in quite street. Grilled salmon is delicious. Waiters, Fede and Aleyna, are really nice and service here is simply great. I will definitely come back.

Layers of marinated grilled Adana kofte served on a bed of thinly sliced bread with strained yoghurt and tomato sauce. Topped with melted butter.Was a new experience, but I’ve been disappointed with kofte , kofte was reheated means not fresh meat, sorry for that but this is the truth

I would give this place 3 stars as the food as was very disappointing, the only reason I’ve left 4 stars is due to the excellent service by Frederica. My calamari was soggy wet and chewy, probably the worst calamari I have ever had, my seafood linguine taste was excellent but consisted of fresh and frozen seafood and the spaghetti was undercooked. The chips and chicken nuggets tasted like they had been fried in months old oil. Very disappointing for such a cool looking place, someone need to have a strong word with the chef who is letting this place down big time.

Cute Turkish restaurant inside the old fire station with a lot of food choices. I had the lamb beyti which was excellent and the homemade lemonade. The hummus appetizer was also super yummy.

The lunch menu was fab with lots of choices including seafood linguine. My husband had Sea Bream and my grandson also had Linguine. This is Turkish but with a varied and fresh affordable menu. Busy but pleasant. Best around here

Dinner with friends here in the beginning of May. Very welcoming staff (A gentleman Ibo Fede served us throughout the dinner, very funny and friendly man) Food are superb! We absolutely love our food even my 5 yrs old. Dog allowed indoor.

This has been our local for the past 18 months, and has been our go to restaurant - frankly far better than offerings from deliveroo etc. Delicious home cooked Mediterranean food and amazing cocktails (strong recommends for the strawberry daiquiri and Efes cask beer). My wife is from the Middle East, and the cooking is a taste of home for her, their aubergine halloumi gratin and Adana iskander are worth a journey alone - not to mention they’re so reasonably priced you might as well be on holiday. Great service, great people, great food

With an American friend who wanted to spend her birthday here after visiting last time she was over. Lovely food wine and atmosphere. Frederica our server was friendly, calm and efficient and really made the evening. We are so lucky to have this place nearby and we should treasure it. Would love it if there were more vegan options though.

Great service even on hecticly busy marathon day. Delicious food too!

I made a reservation online for 7pm a day in advance to celebrate the completion of the marathon. I was notified by email that afternoon because the event ended early and it was recommended that guests arrive at 5pm instead. It was a very disappointing and poor experience.

Bad customer service. My girlfriend arrived earlier than me a) she was welcomed by a rude person asking her whether she has a reservation even though we call prior and they said it is fine to walk in b)nobody was serving my girlfriend when she she arrived. We waited for 10 min nobody came to our table, so we left. Food on the menu is disappointing it is called mediterranean but they offering a mix between Italian (Spaghetti Bolognese) and Turkish food. I am local in Canary Wharf and was hoping to find something new but was disappointed

You could very easily walk right past this restaurant and have no idea what a gem you’d be missing out on. I’ve been to this restaurant several times over the last two years and the food and service are always excellent! the Chicken Iskender is definitely something everyone should try!

A local gem! And a beautiful aesthetic with a great vibe. Lots of history of the ‘old fire station’ it used to be with pictures and books to read. It’s a kid friendly space and a local family favourite. They have offers such as a special menu, breakfast and lunch time deals including a happy hour with 2 for 1 cocktails which are under £10. Food is always brilliant and so is the service.
