Hawksmoor Spitalfields in Tower Hamlets

My husband booked dinner at Hawksmoor (one of our favourite branches) to celebrate something wonderful. We're never disappointed with the food at Hawksmoor, it's always delicious and cooked with love. I have to say though it was the staff who made the evening really special. They were so kind and so welcoming. Enriko in particular was an absolute darling when we told him what we were celebrating, he gave us such a kind gift to take home. It was so generous and really made us feel special - thank you so much! We cannot wait until we can come back - it really is such a lovely place.

Meal out with friends, amazing steak with top service. Certainly not your everyday meal out. Above average prices but with food and service to match. Highly recommend.

Came straight here after a 13 hour flight Hawksmoor did not disappoint, the 3 of us had the marrow, scallops and asparagus for starters. 2 large format bone ins, my favorite, bone in prime rib and a porterhouse. Sides of chips and Mac n cheese. Request was for the meats to be done medium. The prime was perfect. Porterhouse was unfortunately well done. Service staff replaced it without any hesitations. Wrapped things up with desserts It was an amazing service recovery by hawksmoor, led by Enriko who came to us after the meal. We were already fans after the great food, the above and beyond service really sealed the deal. Well done Hawksmoor!

Great Steaks, yummy cocktails, atmosphere was just right. Sides were fresh and delicious.

Nice atmosphere, good service, however the mixed grill for 2 people was disappointing. And paid £175 for 2 people (one desert, one glass of wine). Coming back on my review above, to share that I was contacted by the restaurant after my posting. They were genuinely interested to understand what went wrong and offered to make it up for it. I highly appreciated the care for customer and attention to our satisfaction! And sticky pudding - a no miss, by all means!

Really good steak and wine - thoroughly enjoyed it. Fries and veg portions could do with being a bit larger. Sticky toffee pudding was awesome. Really enjoyed it.

The Hawksmoor leaves you with an authentic classic New York style steak restaurant. If you're not a meat-connoisseur, the staff are ready to guide you. We went BIG and ordered the Prime Rib (1,2 kilos). Sides: beef dripping fries, and the mash and gravy. Sauce: Peppercorn and bearnaise. With the size of the Prime Rib in mind, we decided to skip the starters. The Hawksmoor has a big variety of starters and main menus. Instead we started off the evening, with a couple of cocktails and some cold Riesling. Our waitress told us, that it would take about 30-45 minutes to cook our meat We waited 40 minutes, so all was good 😊. And with a couple of cocktails, the wait didn't seem that long I have to say, that the meat was really well cooked and tasty. The mash and gravy to die for, and so was the peppercorn and bearnaise sauce. The Hawksmoor did deliver and we're definitely coming back....

Slow service, we waited 45 mins for food. Food was good but overpriced. When we saw how small the portions were we wanted to order more but didn’t due to the long wait.

Attended this branch as Hawksmoor Wood Wharf wanted to redeem a negative experience that I had at their branch previously. Hawksmoor Spitalfields did a great job. Top ribeye steak and stuffing. Very tasty chips and salad. Great service.

Great experience. Isn't cheap but the steak is as good as you're going to find anywhere. Thoroughly recommend.

Nos reunimos con la familia y decidimos comer en Hawksmoor porque habíamos visitado el de Edimburgo anteriormente. El restaurante Spitalfields es mucho menos formal que el de Edimburgo, supongo que porque están en edificios muy diferentes. Me gustó la forma en que el personal estaba casualmente vestido, pero no se deje engañar. Nuestro camarero Scotty era muy profesional, muy bien informado sobre el menú y los vinos y nos hizo grandes sugerencias para usar mientras elegíamos qué tomar. La comida estaba muy bien presentada, servida profesionalmente y las verduras y salsas que la acompañaban estaban bien cocinadas y condimentadas. En general una muy buena experiencia. Lo recomendaría para una ocasión especial ya que es en el mercado de precios altos. Pero no te decepcionará.

Came for Sunday Roast and had a nice experience. Staff were friendly and helpful as we found the menu quite confusing (items and prices on the menu and the black specials board). We opted for the shared option which was good value as you can select your own cuts. Meats were cooked well, roast potatoes were perfection but the Yorkshire pudding was a big let down being very dry and slightly on the burnt side. Overall, prices are definitely on the more expensive side as it is a nice environment for friends or a celebration

I went for the Big Matt burger. They did a great job making it smell and taste like a Big Mac with fresher ingredients. Unfortunately there were a couple of bones in the patty. One of them long and sharp. If I pay £30 for a burger I expect better. If I pay a third of that i expect better. It's dangerous. What if a small kid choked on it? Do better. Both myself and my friend had the same issue in our patties. Not recommended Do better.

Really great experience here. We went for Sunday roast for my birthday. Service was great from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, but there were some points I think they could have been more attentive. For example, when we wanted to order dessert, once we had the menu no one came to take our dessert order, so I ended up changing my mind and didn't order dessert. Also, when we wanted to bill to leave. It took a while to get anyone's attention. While this might be minor, it did dampen the otherwise fantastic service. The food, wow! It's simple, but to perfection. Every item was spot on, not too busy on the plate, perfect portion. The roasted garlic was a great touch! It's pricey compared to average Sunday roasts, but honestly you pay a premium for quality, so it's completely worth it. I only wish I had a dessert just to see how good it might have been. Would highly recommend Update: came again for dinner on a Thursday evening. Service was lovely, and steaks were perfectly cooked. The desserts were delicious. Will certainly come again.

Chain mediocrity at premium prices. Food took an hour to come. Rib eye steak was overcooked and contained lots of fat and gristle. Portion of chips was tiny and the ‘spring vegetables’ was a pile of anemic looking cabbage. Service was good and our waitress was nice - she actually got my steak refunded after I complained about it - but I would rather have just had a decent steak in the first place because I left the restaurant still hungry. We visited this place a couple of times in 2022 and really liked it, but this time it was an underwhelming experience.

Steaks as good as ever perfectly cooked to medium and medium rare as requested . Sticky toffee pudding is also very good. Service from Scotty was impeccable i.e the right mix of friendly informative and efficient. Do however have to mention the NOISE .. Atmosphere was like a very noisy London pub as opposed to a somewhat expensive restaurant .. large groups of very noisy people with the food being a passing interest . Admittedly I'm sensitive to noise but it was only the quality of the food and the service that kept me from walking out. So be warned!! it really isn't the place for a quiet meal out

We went for Sunday roast and this did not disappoint the steak was so tender and juicy, it was so flavorful and was really nice! The gravy was the icing on the cake it was the best gravy I’ve ever had and went perfectly with the steak and potatoes! The cherry sorbet was so nice and tangy it was incredible! The server was so kind and the food was out fast. The atmosphere was so cool we sat downstairs and where we sat there was copper over our heads and the walls were teal! So amazing this place is a MUST try!!!

Went to try the Big Matt (top quality version of the famous McDonald's big mac) and it did not disappoint! The two patties were perfectly cooked, the buns were perfectly golden and the beef dripping fries that came with the burger were excellent. I highly recommend! (This burger is on the lunch special menu, not served on Sundays)

Tuve la oportunidad de cenar en el restaurante, ya que mi amigo había reservado amablemente una mesa para celebrar su celebración antes del cumpleaños. Booked a table for my Birthday. We were seated in a corner under an air vent which was blowing out enough cold air to disturb our napkins. We asked to be moved but were then seated adjacent to the disabled toilet that was behind a large curtain. I don’t think it’s appropriate to have a toilet within the seating area of the restaurant. The food wasn’t anything amazing for the price (£275.00). Overall a disappointing experience

Absolutely great steak. The staff is very helpful if you don't know what you should order and can make great recommendations. The scallops were really nice but the pudding is very sweet

We got the Chateaubriand for 2 medium well and it was PERFECT! The Macaroni Chese and the beef dripping chips were also great. Good service, good cocktails and one of the best steak places we've been to. Hawksmoor will definitely be seeing us again!

Came here for my birthday meal. Service was excellent and the food was great quality. The fillet steak was perfectly cooked, and I enjoyed the beef dripping gravy. I also appreciated the free chocolates I got as it was my birthday. The only downside was the atmosphere. It was very noisy in here, I could hear the conversations of every table around me, and the tables were tightly packed together, resulting in space being invaded every time someone got up or placed a dish at a table. The starter options also leaned heavily towards seafood which I don't eat so there was only a few meat options to choose from.

Oooh amazing!! We are here for our wedding anniversary and we are being really looked after by Jaro who's been super professional and absolutely lovely! And the steak....omggg...and the dessert...omgggg it was a chocolate and caramel tart...heaven!!

Here 2/20/25 and it’s busy and dinner was lovely. We had two prefixe meals and upgraded one fo filet for £11 extra . We added a sauce and spinach side and with service it was £92 so it isn’t inexpensive however it was delicious and Jennifer our server was professional and lovely and the pros fixe can also include dessert for only £5 more. The food is always good and it’s a lovely crowd. Ok dinner was wonderful. We had a filet and a sirloin and ordered them rare. We added spinach and fries. Monday night they allow BYOB for £5 which is just a deal. We had Moet Champagne which went perfectly with our steaks. Service was wonderful and food hot and delicious. Ran after to west end for a play. It was a really nice dinner

Food outstanding - we chose our wine but our waiter gave us a sample of his recommendation which was very good indeed and cheaper than our selection! This is not cheap but the quality is outstanding - very highly recommended in my opinion.

Absolutely FANTASTIC service from a range of different servers. It was my partner's birthday, and they really made an effort. Top roast as well of course!

Legendary Steak House in the heart of trendy Shoreditch. Pricey, but worth it for a birthday or other special occasion/celebration or if ya minted! Starters are amazing desserts are delicious and steaks are melt in the mouth superb. Staff and service is excellent. Highly recommend this place

The service was brilliant, however the food was a little bit of a let down. 3 of the 6 dishes were brilliant, however the remaining 3 were a but of a disappointment. The steak had very clearly been sitting under the heating lights for a while whilst all the other food was cooked so it could all be brought out at the same time, and the fillet steak for the surf & turf was completely over cooked. Overall, a great time was had, but it's just such a shame these small things went wrong, especially as the prices aren't cheap - everything needs to be spot on.

Food was lovely staff very helpful and attentive but not overly so.

We have noticed since our last visit which was at the Guildhall venue, the quality and portion of the starters and sides have gone down but the prices have increased. We will not be coming back anymore.

Had the best time! Food amazing, service even better! We had our 7th anniversary meal, they were more than accommodating! Even giving us a special gift with our dessert!

This visit wasn’t the same as my previous experiences. Although the staff were polite, helpful and resolved my issue around a small complaint around the final billI left there feeling slightly distraught and judged for challenging the bill.

Our steaks were amazing - beautifully cooked to the correct temperature. Really surprised they do not serve mushrooms and the chairs/ seats were not the most comfortable. That said we all left very happy and satisfied!!

Booking via OpenTable was a breeze! I love Hawksmoor for their steaks. It was lunch time so was very busy. The food is always top-notch. However, after our starters, it took half an hour for our mains to arrive. Very unlikely so when I asked the waiter, she said that there was a delay. Finally when our food arrived, we loved it. To compensate, they didn’t charge for the sides.

Another great meal with a friend. Service was brilliant as always and no rushing you from the table for the next sitting.

Outstanding and generously portioned steak as usual. The other diners had the roast and it was apparently fabulous. Special mention to the caramel rolos.

Had the lunch and drink special (rump steak and chips and Tunnock's old fashioned) which were delicious, and service was great !

We had a lovely meal in January at Hawksmoor, very good value. We were given the wrong items originally but we explained we'd ordered something else and they rectified it quickly.

Very good food and service. The rump steak was surprisingly good for £20 but cost of drinks etc. we're a little steep. Overall very enjoyable

Made to feel like I’m the most important person!! Hope they read this, your location is perfect been to a few other locations and the reception by a few members of staff made my dad not want to go back, this spot as got everything right staff are friendly and happy. Went into the kitchen with my dad to say hi to the chefs and even though they were working hard they took the time out to say hello. Management perfect, front of house perfect, other costumers were smiling and in good sprites, mum and dad loves this place and I can see why food was premium quality decorations perfect. This place is unbelievably good. I must have left a review last year when a steak we’d ordered wasn’t quite to our standard, because when we arrived today a note had been placed on our account and most of our meal was complimentary! Such a personal touch. The Sunday roast was a delicious birthday treat for me and my family. We are patrons for life!

It was ok. The meat was lovely. The rest mediocre. Maybe it was an off-day, or just a January lacklustre experience. We’ll see. I’ve had better, I’ve had worse. But for £30 for a basic roast, you’d want more.

Staff were excellent as I’m Coeliac and they helped me with the menu items that I could have. Disappointed that I couldn’t have chips or roast potatoes. Question is why are roasties being done in a fryer? Anyway my food was a special order and was great just sad I couldn’t have the whole menu. Biggest problem was my wife and son both had the roast beef which they both said was very fatty. The dog did well when we got home. Another question is about the roast potatoes again. If I cook them at home everyone wants them super crispy, however Hawksmoor put them inside the Yorkshire puddings making them soft. If I’d had them I would have been really disappointed that they went soft. I’d say staff 100%. Food nearer 50%. Sorry Hawksmoor were disappointed

Ambience, good Food, good Dessert, good Service, good Cocktails, not so good

Every aspect of Hawksmoor was great. My only gripe is the pricing. We were made to order a steak which weighed 500g. No option of a smaller piece. Each 100g slice cost nearly £16, that is a lot for steak in this current climate. I cannot fault the rest. Staff were amazing as was the ambience.

The food was delicious and well presented. The service was exceptional. We started with scallops that were tender and succulent. Our main entree was ribeye and the steak was cooked to perfection served with creamed spinach. We concluded our meal with apple pie and cream and my wife had a sticky toffee pudding that was so delicious. We were visiting London from USA and this rivaled the best steakhouses in NYC.

Took the wife after rave reviews from my daughter. Food definitely five stars Unfortunately, customer service was a little disappointing, our plates left uncleared way too long , even though our server saw we had finished. This disappointment was redeemed by the genuine polite and friendly service by french server . Will definitely be back with the family.

Fillet steak was very overcooked. Yorkshires were very dry and tasteless. Puddings were good.

Great service even though we came in just for dessert!

This was my 5th time here (Spitalfields), and the first 4 were meals I would talk about for a couple of weeks. today however, 18th January 2025, was one to forget. The Rump steaks we all had was chewy to a point some parts the knife would not cut it, and I had to put several mouthfuls in a tissues as I could not chew no longer. We asked for 3 medium rare, 1 rare, and we got 4 rare. Sadly, we are all hesitant to 'complain' so 2 just ate it, 1 was happy with theirs all be it chewy, and I would have said something if asked as I left half of it, but I wasn't so just left it. To conclude, we will go back as this is the only negative experience in 5 visits, so possibly ' a bad day'.

Außerordentlich zum Geburtstag meines Mannes- es war von der Begrüßung bis zum Abschied ein toller Abend. Aperitif und Vorspeisen perfekt, Fleisch top. Wunderbar!

The staff are just lovely but my husband and I were served with our food quite a few minutes apart. My medium rare steak was blue and when I commented as much this wasn’t picked up. In summary I liked the cherry negronis and not much else. The £19 deal was £169 for 2 so no deal.

Everything is good but no halal or vegan option like tofu salad or something like this but the food was avesome especially sunday roast

Went for the steak, was fine but very overpriced and not as good as Flat Iron which is like half the price. £5 for a small coke and £4 for a sauce is a bit much. Everything was fine but I’d just go Flat Iron next time

What a great roast dinner! We had the rump roast and it was amazing. We also decided to get some sides and I cannot recommend the stuffing enough! Service was so friendly, our server (I think she was called Ashley?) was super lovely. We will definitely return!

I attended with my partner on the 5th and we ordered the shared roast. Our booking was 1:45 and we ordered by around 2:10, we did not get our food for almost a whole hour and the steak came out cold and so did the sides for the roast aside from the Mac and cheese. Our waiter was very attentive however people around us that arrived after us had even been served food long before us. For almost £200 and considering all the food was cold even after taking an hour I wouldn’t attend this branch of Hawksmoor again.

One of the best meals my boyfriend and I have had in a long time! Went as we had received a voucher for our Christmas present but honestly I would go again paying full price. Our server Harry was lovely and answered all the questions we had about steak size and weight, and which sides best went with them. 10/10 experience!!!

Having been to their other branches, we were sadly disappointed. The Chateaubriand was dry and over cooked. Sunday Roast was tough and hard to chew. Though the appetiser Fillet carpaccio was delicious. Came hungry, left with a bitter taste in our mouths.

Dined on 31st December for lunch, we are a family of 4, with two young children, so were seated next to a noisy table of 8 when the rest of the tables in the seating area were free - why? I really didnt understand the rationale behind this. We all had fillet steak, the portion sizes were not great, my son's steak was stringy. The Brussel sprouts portion was small, tasty but not an adequate portion size. I couldnt fault the service, the waitress was very attentive. On the whole, an ok'ish experience, not good and definitely not great for nearly 400 pounds.

It was our first visit, for New Year's Eve dinner. The starters were very good; we had the beetroot salad and the Devon Crab on toast. For our mains we had a Sirloin and a Fillet. Both were cooked perfectly as we like. The wait staff was very attentive. All in all a very good dinner.
