Hawksmoor Spitalfields in Tower Hamlets

We had a great experience at Hawksmoor Spitalfields for Sunday lunch. We were there as tourists to London for my wife's birthday. The food was amazing. Service was top class (friendly and attentive) - thanks Scotty. The staff made a fuss of mywife on her big day, which was lovely. I would highly recommend this place for a special occasion. The ambience is very welcoming.

Nice atmosphere, food was delicious. We went for the Sunday roast, my husband liked it but I left hungry, there was no vegetarian option.

Service was a little slow this visit, probably 45 mins between starters and mains. Tbf that's unusual, but you're only as good as your last meal as they say. I'll update the review next time i return.

Famcu advertising not so fancy food. I do write this as not a steak diner, however the other two in the party were and the staeaks are ok, but not a great as their marketing. Food just par with most mid range restaurants, however being in the city prices don't match the food standards. I had the veg wellington, it was ok and the desserts aren't up to much.

Good restaurant, not the cheapest and very noisy but food was well presented and cooked. Staff service was excellent.

Marvelous starter, stake, and side dishes in a fine dining restaurant. We have ordered scallops, 950g prime rib, beef dipping chips, macaroni, creamed spinach, hawkmoore Caesar side, add marrow, peppercorn sauce, and bone marrow gravy with Pulenta Hawkmoor. All are so delightful and tasty. This was a good meal indeed.

Hawksmoor is a special place indeed. The service and staff is exceptional, always have a smile on their face and say how they love working there. This flows into the food which is out of this world, the sharing steaks have unreal depth of flavour and sides complement perfectly. The last word is for the cocktails, the bar staff make magic and all I can say is get down there for dinner.

A Monday night meal in Hawksmoor. Food was good as usual, ambience better than expected - restaurant was quite busy. An enjoyable experience.

Fabulous roast beef dinner, beef was amazing. Arrived early and enjoyed a drink at downstairs bar, then seated in lovely room upstairs at back (would recommend, as great atmosphere)

The food was exceptional. Steak was cooked perfectly and all the additional sides were delicious. Service was good. Overall, the experience and evening was memorable.

Been there twice, had the rib-eye and the fillet, my friend had the fillet twice, the second time was better than the first time.. is it the best steak I ever had, not exactly, but it is very good still and I would recommend it. The cream spinach and the baked sweet potato are strongly recommended too. The star of the show is by far the sticky toffee pudding, it's wow-ing in that place, you should definitely try it. The service is a bit slow sometimes, we had to wait for about 50 min before we got our food.

Hawksmoor Spitalfields is our all-time favorite restaurant. The steaks and food taste amazing, and they have a great selection of wine.

E' stata una cena interessante , il cameriere che ci ha servito è stato molto gentile e paziente e ha fatto di tutto per rendere la nostra cena perfetta. E in parte è stato così, vorrei fare solo una piccola critica. Mi è dispiaciuto che l'hamburger non fosse disponibile per cena, l'ho trovata una mossa strategica per costringere la gente a spendere di più visto che i tagli della carne così pregiata sono molto costosi. Altra cosa che non ho apprezzato è la mancanza di birre alla spina

Very nice restaurant overall and lovely staff but consistent with all my experiences at Hawksmore both our steaks were significantly undercooked. Medium well came out medium rare and medium came out rare, which kind of kills the entire experience. Happened in Edinburgh last week as well.

Lovely and friendly staff. We were served by Jennifer she was very polite and professional. She had a smile on Her face throughout the service. Nice food it was really tasty we enjoyed it. Thanks also for the birthday chocolate. Well appreciated.

Sunday Lunch a great experience- food, drinks and service set this apart…

Non alcoholic moctails were terrible. Scallops were good. Steaks were okay, over cooked. My favourite thing was the chips, best chips I’ve ever had. I’d probably skip the bone marrow next time wasn’t flavourful and added nothing to the meal.

Everything was cooked perfectly. Leave yourself time to check out the bar downstairs. What a lovely spot to enjoy a beverage.

Absolutely incredible meal — but paled in comparison to charm, thoughtfulness and attention to detail and general excellence of our waiter, Scotty!

Staff were friendly, helpful and very accommodating to my partner's dietary requirements. Food was beautifully present and tasted heavenly - the bone marrow gravy is stunning!

Food and cocktails were great, highly recommend the cherry negroni and Mac and cheese. Best part of the evening was the service, this was our second time back in a week due to the outstanding service. Kudos to all the staff.

From the lady on reception, to the French wiatress, all of the staff were fabulous. The food was great although its very dark, so you need a torch to read the menu.

Came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary, we had a lovely warm welcome as soon as we came in, and we were a little early for our booking so were invited to have a drink at the bar. Our server was so attentive and helpful, and our food was simply divine! And we loved the gift of the chocolates. We had a small issue with something on our bill but it was very swiftly resolved. We had a fabulous time and are looking forward to returning to try more things on the fabulous menu. We highly recommend dining here, the bone marrow is chef's kiss perfection.

This restaurant serves up a great experience not to mention very good food. Service is impeccable and wine selection great. Have the sticky toffee pudding with Chantily cream. Top it off with port it is a great way to end a great food experience. Well worth the money!!!!

I’m English and have had many “Sunday Roasts” but this really was the best I ever had

We really enjoyed our Sunday lunch, my husband and son-in-law had steaks and they said it was possibly the best meal they have had at Hawksmoor. The side dishes and gravy were top-notch too, I particularly liked the celeriac mash and the stuffing. The waitress, I wish I had noted her name, was really great – she helped make the experience special, as we were celebrating my husband’s & son- in-law’s birthdays (We ate on Sunday 22/09 at 1:45) Thank you again, for a really lovely time. Countless business visits over the past 5 years since Goucho lost their way, but I have to say that I fear Hawksmoor is heading in the same direction, not for the first time, tough ribeye meat, full of sinu, overcooked when it should have been medium rare - don't let your standards slip HKSMR, competition for business meals is fierce, and >£350 for lunch for 3, x2 glasses of wine - brutal.

Booked a Steak and Salad experience and was only offered the business lunch express menu. Good took too long to appear meant we were rushed as we were on a lunchtime. Hence 4 stars. Food was good but not exceptional, price for Processor was quite steep.

Service was great - but I will admit I was disappointed with the food. There is a clear difference between this one and other chains

I’ve had great experiences in the past, but I think the food standards have slipped. The plain vegetables and roasties were only saved by the gravy. Obviously the meat was cooked perfectly but the rest of the meal was a let down. Excellent service and atmosphere though.

Great food and drink. Service was great, our waiter who looked after us was fab. The restaurant was very busy as it was a Sunday but we weren’t rushed or anything.

Sunday roast review - 3.30 booking Food we had tasted amazing, however was a bit luke warm and not enough gravey (never is). The biggest disappointment was the fact that they just stopped serving cauliflower cheese for some reason. For the prices and hype of the venue, I expect nothing to run out if I'm booking in for a roast, it's not like a small independent pub who literally only cook what they can afford to?!? Pretty poor...the beef did taste sensational though. Staff were excellent and lovely, I dined with partner and 1 year old, and they were very gracious, caring and understanding to any and all child based needs, and our own. Atmos...was busy, was pretty nice, just felt a bit squished in I had to walk around 2 other table to get to the seat of my table, which was a bit random, but I do usually like those sorts of places, but guess it's a hassle for some. My other big issue with Hawksmoor is their EXTORTIONATE price of drinks, particularly bottled beer (they don't do draft...pretty poor). Cheapest is their own Lager (which isn't usually brewed at high quality) and although it was actually pretty good, it still felt like having my wallet fucked, at £6.75 a 330ml can .

I had the Sirloin steah with Beef Dripping chips and two eggs and side salad. The staek was outstanding which I ex[ected - However, the Chips were the star of the show along with two perfectly cooked runny eggs. We have no complaints whatsoever and will definately be going again very soon.

Truly amazing food, drinks, service and ambiance. Try the “Shaky Pete” drink with gin and beer. The steaks are as good as anywhere. Yorkshires, sticky toffee pudding are a must get. Service is above and beyond!

The staff here were so helpful and accommodating for my brothers birthday. They went above and beyond the 5 stars I have given here. I can't express how grateful I am to the chef and the rest of the staff involved in making my brothers birthday so special, you made his day! We had a great dinner and reminisced about old memories that the special Rib sandwich meal reminded us of. Oh and the boozy banana milkshakes went down a treat! In fact we had to improvise later on to try to recreate some more! You have a customer for life here! Can't wait to be back. I can't thank you enough. Ron

Great meal at Hawksmoor. We ordered the Sunday roast, ribeye and chicken. All were great!

There are not enough superlatives to describe Hawksmoor. We've done all of the London ones, and Manchester and Spitalfields is our first and favourite . We are frequent visitors but came this time for the 'ribwich' which was spectacular, as was the accompanying banana milkshake. Best restaurant in town. Especially since Odette's is no more (not over it).

The food and Service was very impressive. Unfortunately tables seem very cramped and was sat next to a group of loud drunken work colleagues.

Although our experience was lovely, I was somewhat upset with the quality of my main meal, my rump steak was very gristle bound ,for which we weren't charged and the english vegetables brought warmed up salad to my mind , however our service was excellent.

The overall experience at Hawksmoor was great. The ribs and smoked salmon starters were lovely. We both had Fillet steak for our main meals and they were cooked to perfection, with some very nice side dishes. Overall we had a lovely meal and a nice touch of some chocolates at the end noting our anniversary.

our visit to Hawksmoor in Spitalfields yesterday lunchtime was exactly what we had wanted for a belated birthday meal. Our waitress was delightful and couldn't have done more to make our visit special. The chateaubriand was spot on and with an excellent wine to match, well, our day was everything we wanted - thank you. We'll be back!

Hawksmoor surprised me on a repeat visit after a longer absence with their detailed memory of preferences. Amazing customer experience from that end. This coupled with the outstanding food quality and friendly and efficient service team makes Hawksmoor a favourite for a great meal. Highly recommended when in London

My son and his partner gifted my wife and I a voucher for Hawksmoor. We chose the spitalfields restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The whole experience was delightful from beginning to end. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. The Devon crab on sourdough toast was exceptional as was the Chateaubriand cut of meat. I was nudged in the direction of the sticky toffee pudding by one of the staff who said it was the best in the world. I couldn't argue with that. Sublime! My wife's dessert included a piped chocolate message wishing us a happy anniversary. We will be back soon!

Quite empty up the back and felt a bit isolated

It's a really, very pleasant Hawksmoor in a very busy part of London. The ambience is great, and the service for our lunch was perfect. Very extensive wine list from affordable to eye watering - something for anyone! Choice for vegetarians was very good. The steak, of course, was fantastic. Great chips, BTW.

The quality of the food is exceptional and the steaks cooked to perfection. I do feel the prices for the main courses are expensive and cost more than other restaurants I have been to in London.

Wonderful meal - Spitalfields is the best Hawksmoor in town, making it the best value steak in London. Service was incredibly friendly and personal, as always.

We had the lunch deal, rump steak and a side. Everything was fabulous. The steak was cooked to perfection for all 3 of us, 2 medium rare, one medium. The value for money of the lunch deal is exceptional given the quality of the ingredients and the cuisson of the beef. I cannot wait to go back. We are trying a different branch next week, just because it is closer to home.

Only four stars as we felt the table we were on was “in the way”. Sadly we were knocked a few times by passers by, both customers and staff. Everything else was up to the excellent standards we’ve come to expect from the best steakhouse in town.

Steak was amazing. Even the chicken was amazing. Our server recommended great wine to pair with the meats. Sides were delicious!

Meat lovely taste, veg lovely taste, roast potatoes dry, Yorkshire pud dry, all food Luke warm, really expected better from this establishment. Ordered cauliflower cheese as a side this was hot woohoo !! had a sticky toffee for dessert this too Luke warm but nice taste. The waiting staff were fabulous very on the ball for a busy restaurant, however food let it down. Would not return, went as part of my husbands birthday 60 celebrations this was put on our booking but nothing special done for him, so why ask if you are going for an occasion ??

On the day we went it was a perfect venue for a good quality and fairly quiet Saturday lunch. Steaks are as you expect from this place....cooked exactly as requested, and quality of beef high. The service for us was the best - served by a number of people, all externally happy to be working whilst we stuff our faces with expensive meat. But one in particular shone - a Scottish guy...(apologies for not having his name). His interactions with my 18 y/o nephew really added to a special day. Thank you.

Excellent experience for my son and me. Booked reservation for two easily and had a fantastic meal. Steak cooked to perfection for both our tastes and the service was beyond top notch. They accommodated his food allergy with ease and everyone was warm and pleasant. The neighborhood is beautiful and great for walking around before or after your meal.

I opted for the lunch special at a superb price £19. for Steak & Fries . The service was super friendly and uber efficient. The steak medium rare was delicious and thoroughly enjoyable... I highly recommend steak with these guys... Thank you

Sunday lunch was delicious. Staff helpful and friendly. One point that let it down - the accessible toilet is literally behind a table where I had to have the awkward experience of asking two people to move so I could get in and out of it. Really doesn’t make disabled people feel that welcome because we are made to feel like an inconvenience (and I felt so bad for interrupting other people’s dinner) - would be nice if the restaurant could consider this and perhaps not block it just to add an extra table? Because of this, I wouldn’t go back to this particular branch but I would try another, as the food was lovely.

My mum and I had been to Hawksmoor before but wanted to try the famous Sunday Roast. We absolutely LOVED it! Previously we had been to the Canary Wharf branch but much preferred Spitalfields, it’s true that the original usually is best. The staff were all really lovely and helpful - Jacob was brilliant. Food was delicious and we thought great value for what you got / in comparison to other roasts at similar level restaurants (all the people moaning about the price.. if you want cheaper go to Toby Carvery!). We both had the beef roast and for dessert the sticky toffee pudding was incredible. Drinks were excellent too - we had red wine and pornstar martinis. Will definitely be returning!
