Freshly fried chips, lovely staff and great deal on food, bought two saveloy/battered sausages and chips for £12! Thought it would be £16 from the menu! Great portion sizes too! Wonderful place to go for well priced food!

Want to rate it higher but the piece of fish was quite small. Mushy peas had a strange herbal flavor

We had dinner at this place and happen to be the only table for the night. Our first fish & chips with mushy peas in London as this place. The servings was big. The server was very friendly and had a nice smile. The location of this restaurant happened to be at the Jack Ripper's walking tour area so you can see many groups of people crowding outside of the shop. It was interesting to know the shop was somehow involved too (I think).

We were here for dinner at short notice. It was already relatively empty but a few more people came after us. We received our food quite quickly. The selection is quite large. The three of us had an onion flower as a starter, it shouldn't be underestimated, it's pretty good. We then had 3 different fish and chips. Everything tasted very good, but for me personally the items were all a bit too greasy compared to similar restaurants. Like everywhere else in the area, Jack the Ripper dominates the decoration. The waiter was very accommodating and nice. Would come again, just probably order less ;-)

The fish and chips were freshly fried and well served although we opted for takeaway. The portion was huge although we opted for regular size. The roasted chicken with aromatic tomato rice was just nice and huge portion as well. The staff was friendly and very polite when servicing. Overall I did not regret to choose here.

Fish and Chips for £8 is an unbelievably good deal. Also, it was delicious. The guy working there was awesome as well. We ordered take-away and they cooked in on the spot and we left happy as we walked and ate our dinner. Can't go wrong with a to-go meal from here. I think it's a bit more if you sit down and eat as it comes with some sides and what not.

Found this spot on Google maps a few days ago and just knew I had to try it, I can comfortably say it was worth the wait. The cod had a rather unique batter and crust which set it apart for me and given its location, the prices are also very reasonable. I only wish I was here longer to try other things on the menu, but I'll definitely be recommending this to any London travellers I know!

We wanted to try fish and chips a few hours before heading back to France, it was great ! Couldn’t finish cause there was so much in the plate 😂 But the staff was kind and understanding, therefore I recommend going there !

Very delicious food and excellent service

A quiet and cozy place, the portions are good and at an affordable price. It is not usually very crowded so you can be comfortable.

Hands down the BEST fish and chips we had while in London! The waitstaff was incredibly friendly and helped us make our selections (halibut vs cod vs haddock). We had a lovely conversation about the difference between pickles in US vs the UK.. we took the lovely waitress' advice and were pleasantly surprised. You can't make a wrong choice here as everything is fresh and tasty! The portions were huge, the fish was fresh, the chips were crisp and delicious.

If you are looking for an honest place in London, I recommend this restaurant. The meal was fresh and delicious, and the portions were generous. The waiter and the owner were very friendly and welcoming, and they made us feel at home. It was a great experience and I would definitely go back!

I was looking forward to stopping here and Happy Days didn't disappoint. As others have said, the portions are large (I was hungry so it worked out well). The food was great and the service was outstanding!

Tourist here. I’d go back to London specially to visit this restaurant. My kids and mom loved it as well. Very nice owners.

The food was great. Portions were huge. My wife could not finish all her fries. We split a cod and a haddock. I want to thank the waitress from yesterday. We had a walking tour starting from picadilly circus. As tourists we had no idea how to get there quickly in time for tour. Thanks to her advice we made it in time to join the tour (barely). Great spot for fish and chips, very fresh and non expensive. Fantastic people working and great customer service. Not only was the fish fresh but so was the chicken, highly recommend for people wanting to try authentic fish and chips.

Fresh flaky fish. Good sized servings. Chips are not as good to our taste. Traditional chippie for the diehards. The street outside had street food vendors and all the young people go there so the chippie is not as popular anymore. Walls decorated with Jack the Ripper motif.

Fabulous chippy with great service. Had the special which is great value and the cod is so fresh and the batter really crispy and light. Big pile of good chips and mushy peas and a buttered roll. With a glass of wine it was a great last minute decision for lunch. Lovely service and I chatted for ages with the lady who served me who said they had been there for 40 years and judging from the busy lunch time crowd they’ll be there for lots longer. We had a nice talk about how the area had changed since I had worked at the local school in 1970, no more market stalls down Wentworth and definitely upmarket now. Will definitely go back if I’m in the area again.

Best Fish & Chips in London, by far. It's family run for over 40 years and not a chain! It's in an area of London which is great for a walk on a day out around Spitafields and Brick Lane and even has some Jack the Ripper history to it, just ask the team. The food and service was great, fresh fish and great hidden items like the Onion Flower (best onion ring you'll ever have). Great for a quick bite or a group meal.

Friendly service and delicious food. Large portion is quite big for one person, so i recommend to order one f&c with another starter, and it will be perfect for two person. The service charge is not included, but i am satisfied with the overall service so i just round up the amount for small amount of tips.

The best traditional chippy in the area! Having worked around here for ages, I was so happy to find this place and now have the rest of the team hooked as the pricing is so good and portions so geneous. Great selection for everyone and you have to try the onion flower! It's off the beaten track but only a minute's walk from the very busy Spitalfields area! Fish is super fresh and flakey and the chicken is the best I've had for those that don't want fish. It's a family-run place for over 40 years, and it shows they know what they're doing!

If you have not been here, you are missing a lot. Food is excellent. Fish has a great base and plenty of chips to go along with the meal. The smashed peas taste out of this world. I loved this place. Also make sure you ask Michael about the Jack the Ripper story. We were on a visit to London and heard about this restaurant. Being from Ohio I wish we had this restaurant in my backyard because I would be at their once a week. I had fish and chips about 4 times while I was in London, but this was the best!

We went here on a Friday night, we booked via the website. We arrived earlier than the booking and it was quite busy but they found a table for us. We were given a warm welcome and served straight away. We ordered the fish and chips and fish cake, chips and mushy pies. Everything was delicious! The best we have ever had! We have had fish and chips in the south west and in London before but this was really special. The mushy peas were fantastic, I have never really been sure of them in the past but these were really tasty. I really wanted to have desert ( sticky toffee pudding) but I was too full. The portions were a good size, just right and good value for money. The chips were great not soggy perfectly cooked. We had a wonderful time and the service was excellent, helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back the next time we are in London!

Tolles britisches Lokal. Hier bekommt man leckere hausgemachtes Essen zu faireren Preisen. Von außen unscheinbar aber drinnen sehr gemütlich und toll. Wir wurden wahnsinnig lieb von einer älteren Dame begrüßt und sie hat nach einem smalltalk mit der Speisekarte beraten. Jeder dort dort ist einmal das Special Fish and chips Essen. Wir lieben es und wollen die Tage nochmal hin!!! Danke :)

Reliable source of good fish and chips. When going to Norfolk in the evening I always get the Underground to Aldgate and walk to Liverpool Street passing here for supper on route. Has several seats outside in the street for eating take-aways.

Having only tried(and been slightly disappointed by) fish’n’chips in Copenhagen, I can happily say that Happy Days has shown me what fish’n’chips is really supposed to taste like! Food was perfect and the nice lady serving us was very helpful in guiding us through choosing the fish and putting vinegar on the food. Even though I’m really not into vinegar I trusted her and was positively surprised. Don’t let the modest surroundings deceive you, Happy Days definitely deserves its high score!

I'm a northern girl and quite frankly, I don't understand how fish and chips in London are consistently sub par and you pay through the nose for the displeasure. This place was recommended by a friend because I was complaining about chips always being sad and dry and she remembered that this lovely little place had amazing chips... well, not only that, I'm actually in disbelief at how right they got everything. Some places in London charge £10 for fish alone... this was pretty much northern prices (I know, I can't expect them everywhere here, but I'd like not to feel like a chippy was totally taking the p**s). The chips were unreal... luscious, flavourful (I know they're just potatoes but still), crispy in places and soft and squidgy in others... exactly how I like them. The fish was so fresh tasting, soft and delicious and the batter was the perfect thickness and texture. I love a bit more batter but some places totally scrimp on this and I have no idea how. I usually don't like skin on fish (it's not really a thing up north) but this was actually a pleasure to eat. The gentlemen behind the counter were beyond lovely too, what an amazing little find this place is. I can't recommend it enough and it was the perfect way to end a freezing day in March! :)

This has to be one of Londons best fish and chip restaurants - the fish was delicious and obviously fresh and chips perfect. What sets this apart from others is the staff a family run business that makes you feel they have invited you into their home.
