Agree with the other reviews. This is an unlikely place to find at the end of the world. We felt welcomed and in the main enjoyed our stay. The only downside was the cost for the 2 of us. £200 for a snack, breakfast, plate of curry and a bunkhouse bed with no shower and a outside toilet seemed breathtaking expensive. To put this into perspective, we go to a nice hotel each year for a winter break, that's more than we pay per day at the hotel with vastly more civilized amenities. I do understand there are logistics involved at Cape wrath. However for an 'ordinary' local Scottish person I'd be looking to stay at sandwood bay and make a lunch trip to the cafe as I simply can't justify the cost/value. However, it is altogether improbably situated and a must experience if you are doing a long walk. Just be prepae your expectations.

Loved our stay here after walking the Scottish national trail. John welcomed us with comfortable beds, heating, amazing food and of course beer and wine! We felt completely at home and couldn’t have asked for more. Thanks for an amazing stay, we can’t wait to come back!

Great place to end the Cape Wrath Trail, was welcomed with a massive plate of beans on toast, big mug of tea and a beer. John was a great host and we also saw him the next day on the ferry to Durness where he kindly gave us a lift to the camp site. Top notch, thank you!

The most memorable place I visited in Scotland. Coffee, food and service were wonderful. Location is the end of the country and it takes time to get there. This makes it a special place. Unforgettable.

Really wonderful cafe. It’s amazing what you can get here given how remote it is. We had sandwiches and hot chocolate and cake which was very welcome after the long cycle to get there. As we could not get a ferry back that day due to high winds we stayed over and also had an evening meal here of macaroni cheese on toast which was very nice. Very welcoming and awesome that they are open 24/7 and can rustle up a meal in such a remote spot. Great visit and would highly recommend.

John and Angie were very welcoming to their remote home on Cape Wrath and we enjoyed tea and delicious cakes from the Ozone Café. You can also buy postcards there with a special Cape Wrath postmark. Thank you John and Angie!

All things considered this place is awesome ….. it’s remote, actually can’t really be anymore remote on mainland Britain, and it’s not easy to get to at all … The food selection is pretty good. The service is charming and efficient. The sandwiches were fresh and tasty And we were delighted to have the choice of oat or soya milk in out coffee …

After a fairly brutal two day hike over rough moorland, my mate and I almost kissed the ground on reaching our long dreamed of destination - Cape Wrath and the Ozone Cafe. Sitting outside in the sun was Angie Ure who greeted us like we were old friends. Very quickly we found we had a shared love of cats (5 live at the Cape with Angie and her dad, John Ure). Within minutes of arriving, John had offered us a plate of beans on toast and a mug of tea each which we were seriously grateful of. We ended up staying at the Cape for 24 hours, during which Angie and John went above and way beyond in their quiet friendly, helpful hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble. I was truly humbled by their kindness. Thank you Angie and John. I truly mean that. For hikers and bikers this cafe is really a haven, especially in adverse weather conditions. Being the end point of some epic long distance trails, you can savour the moment with hot drinks, food and even a bed for the night in the bunkhouse. John is a welcome host with all the local knowledge after 13 years there. Take Cash. When people say this is remote, they are not exaggerating. No vehicular access unless you book the minibus using the single 11 mile track. Mile markers start at Cape Wrath, so you can count down from the Cape Wrath Ferry. This is just a small boat run by Malcolm the Ferryman, like his father before him. Parking is just by the jetty. Otherwise, access from the south along the coast hiking or hikeabike is a good days walk or more from the nearest road, south of Sandwood Bay.

We took the mini bus trip upto Cape Wrath and what a wonderful surprise the Ozone Cafe was! Angie was so wonderful and welcoming. She made a brilliant filter coffee and some lovely sandwiches. Just what we needed after are long trip from Inverness! They sell some great tokens and souvenirs for your visit to the most north westerly spot on the UK mainland. Definitely looking forward to our next visit, thank you Angie!

What a gem! We weren't expecting to find any facilities at Cape Wrath lighthouse - much less a great wee cafe, serving coffee and hot soup on a cool, misty day!

My friend and I arrived here after dark upon completion of the Scottish National Trail. We'd heard that John had opened the cafe on the principle that no one should ever arrive at Cape Wrath and not be treated to a hot bevvy, and we were not at all disappointed! In fact, after making sure we didn't need any food, he led us into the bunkhouse he'd installed in the lighthouse, with drying racks, a heater, and cozy beds with clean sheets. After more than a month on the trail it was truly heavenly, and we had no idea it was even there. Honestly, when we finally dozed off after sitting by the heater for the better part of an hour wondering whether we were both having the same hallucination, I can't say that I've ever been more comfortable. The next morning we went out to actually look at the cape for the first time (it's seriously beautiful, and literally the next closest land to the west is North America, which is staggering. When we came back inside, John was cooking us breakfast. He placed heaping plates of a full Scottish breakfast and steaming cups of coffee in front of us, and we relaxed under the lighthouse and learned the fascinating history of the place. Tourist buses come fairly regularly, so it's easy enough to get out of the MOD range to the fairy and then catch a ride to Durness (or you can come that way to the lighthouse if you don't want to walk it, but why wouldn't you?). An absolute must for a visit to the Highlands. The walk from Sandwood Bay is amazing; starting in Kinlochbervie may be a bit too far to do in a day for a lot of people, especially in weather.

Cape Wrath is definitely a place to visit if you want a very different experience. Firstly the physical fact that looking west the next stop is the North American continent, look north to the Pole and beyond to Canada out here the elements are very real... Secondly John Ure and his daughter Angela welcome you to the Ozone Cafe for a warming cuppa and snacks, they are welcoming and patiently answer questions about living so far from 'civilisation' Thirdly, detox yourself from the 21st century. Stay in the clean and surprisingly cosy bunk house recently opened by the family. No internet, no phone signal, no electricity, no running water......live as your great grand parents did without the things we all take for granted. We stayed overnight in the bunk house after finishing the Cape Wrath Trail, Angela cooked us a lovely candlelit meal, with wine, whilst we watched the sun sink slowly in the west. A very memorable experience, enhanced by wonderful hospitality.

Couldn't fault my experience getting there and being there. Worth the 2 hour wait for the ferry at Durness. Stuart the driver was magic, the cafe perfect, sandwiches, coffee, cats, friendly lady who I'm sad to say I didn't ask her name, busy talking about cats me. The views were incomparable to any photo or picture you'll ever see, absolutely stunning every inch of it. Thank you to everyone including my fellow passengers. I was camping at Durness and at night I could see the lighthouse, I'll never forget it. Hopefully will be back God speed.

Stay at the Ozone. Built into the old lighthouse buildings, overnight at Cape Wrath feels great, watching the sunset out to what must be Greenland. Finished the Cape Wrath trail here to excellent Large and Tasty dinner. Tops. Do not underestimate the Cape Wrath trail. Unless you are a confident navigator and can carry a full pack 20 miles a day over 12 days, don't do it.

We completed the Scottish National Trail last Thursday at Cape Wrath. We started this leg from Ullapool and as the Ozone Cafe run by John Ure now has a bunkhouse we were able to travel light without tents and sleeping bags which we planned to use at Sandwood Bay but instead made a longer day heading straight to the Cape. However we struggled to cross rivers in spate and had to make big diversions to get across and decided to head eventually for the road to the lighthouse. We didn't arrive till 8.30pm but John opened up the Cafe and made us toast and beans and tea and we had a celebratory bottle of wine. The man is a hero compared with some of the 'hospitality' along the way. He lit the gas fire for us in the bunkhouse, very welcome as we had five hours of rain. There are 6 bunks. In the morning he made us a cooked breakfast as we waited for the minibus to the ferry. John was a great host and of course full of stories about the lighthouse and his role in maintaining and improving the buildings there.

Stunning landscape, friendly cafe at the Northern most point in Scotland- great to find wonderful homemade chocolate and hazelnut brownies at what feels like the edge of the world. Either a very, very long walk to get there or the lazy option ferry from Durness and mini-bus on unmade road with on board entertainment from driver - worth the money.

We stayed at Taigh Ailean for our trip to Skye. We also had the opportunity to eat dinner there (Breakfast was included with our stay.) The dinner was so delicious! The view is lovely as you can see the loch from the windows of the bar. All the staff is fantastic and so friendly! I had a great dinner and I would describe it, but the menu changes to suit what is in season and available from the sea. Whatever you get, I guarantee it will be the best! Make sure you call ahead and get a reservation as it fills up quickly. I know that they also have live music, which would be great, but we didn't have any while we were there.

We had some really delicious cake and tea. I would definitely recommend the banana chocolate cake and the apple caramel cake. The service was really nice and I would definitely stop there again.

Visited Annie’s bakery whilst visiting up visiting family in Thurso. Amazing value for money alongside fabulous savouries and sweets. So much time and effort put into each. Transported plenty of goodies home to North Yorkshire, we will be back!! ☺️

Food was nice and service was, for the most part, friendly. One server seemed to be having a bad day. Brusque and barely civil. Very expensive for what was served.

Your restaurant came highly recommended and the food and wine was absolutely superb. Unfortunately this is where the great experience ended as we have never been made to feel so uncomfortable in a restaurant by the people serving us, to the point that we couldn't wait to pay the bill and leave! We were the first table in the evening at 5pm and were seated right by the bar but we struggled to get eye contact with the staff who were either chatting behind the bar or staring into space. At no point did they ask us if everything was ok or if we wanted another drink. We tried to engage them in some chatter when they served us but to no avail. I don't know if in someway we offended them but we really could not work out what we had done wrong to be treated this way. Unfortunately we will not be returning, which is a shame as the food is excellent. Fortunately our evening was not completely spoiled as a visit to the local community centre in Nairn found us invited to a Ceilidh and a very warm welcome and fun evening.
