I had chips from here last night and chicken wings which tasted awful they were burnt from being overdone in the batter not pleasant. Tummy isn’t feeling great this morning.

So disappointed. The chip size is actually an embarrassment for the price, won’t be purchasing again, last 3 times we’ve tried the chip portion has been laughable.

Normally a good chippy, have used for many years but …not tonight though. Chips over cooked and Luke warm, fish mainly skin and batter and mushy peas appeared to have been microwaved for 10 minutes, a solid inedible lump, straight in bin. Very disappointing.

My local chippy is Knaphill , happened to be in Lightwater so gave it a try today at lunchtime . Dear oh dear. If those chips were not from yesterday I will eat my hat, very oily and stale. The battered sausage had so much oil in it that it was completely uneddable. Oh well, gave it a try, not sure I would again tho

National Fish and Chips Day, came down to Oysters this afternoon to celebrate national fish and chips day with my family, the service from start to finish was top quality and so was the food we ordered, quick and efficient service and amazing quality food from the team at Oysters, service with a smile and created a real atmosphere on the high street, fish and chips is struggling with food inflation and in decline, however these guys at Oysters are somehow bucking the trend, Fairplay to them.

I hate giving a negative review and We normally love Oysters fish and chips. However part of our order last night was very disappointing. One of our orders was for a kids fish and chips. The fish portion was really tiny and very dry and there were very few chips. Also the drink was missing. At over £5.00 we would have expected more. Really disappointing as we’d told our friends how good it always is.

Usually very good, sometimes when it's busy I've noticed the quality dips a bit but generally it's the best fish and chips locally. I really appreciate the haddock is apparently line caught. Mushy peas are ok but pea fritter is the bomb! Huge potions. Nice and crispy batter, slightly oily, very indulgent

Only fish and chip shop I've ever found not to sell a large portion of chips (regular only). The chips were OK, nowt special. Calling their portion size regular is a bit of an oversell, I'd call them a small portion at best and at £2.80, it seemed pretty tight to me.

Battered sausage was OK, went for some salt and pepper chicken wings as they sounded really good. Was very disappointed when I opened the box to which they looked burnt. They were tiny, dry as anything, and we'll over cooked. Not what I was expecting and at and terrible for the price. In fact the worst I've ever paid for. Should of taken them back!

Shocking! This place is so hit and miss but tonight the cod was so oily. Def cooked in cold oil to start off. It was terrible. Tge batter was soft and oiky. The chips 100% reheated, dry awful. I asked for a gerkin, paid for a gerkin and when i opened the bag was less than half of a gerkin. Not going to return. Very much depends who is cooking but is not acceptable at the prices they charge. I do not recommend

Food was cold, chips were undercooked. Not good value for price. Will not purchase from them again.

Genuinely lovely fish and chip shop,it’s of other options too, have tried most and have never been disappointed, everything cooked fresh to order give them a try you won’t be disappointed :)

Why oh why do you reheat left over chips, anyone with taste buds can taste when chips are reheated and not freshly cooked. The fish is hit and miss. Sometimes it’s lovely and sometimes very thin and grey. It is such a shame because if it was all cooked fresh and the fish was white thick and flakey it would be lovely. You can do it as I’ve had it in the past, and it has been really nice. You then seem to penny pinch and let standards slip and spoil it, which puts me off and others have stated the same thing. I have rung and complained but my complaint is clearly ignored.

Ordered a portion of chips, 2 sausages and curry sauce £8.30 not bad. However the curry sauce in a very small pot to start with was only half full at best. Absolute joke.

We've tried the rest, this is the best! Freshly cooked, thin batter, always our first choice.

£2.70 for a just over a handful of chips. Next time I’ll go to the supermarket and buy sack of potatoes for £2.00 and make them myself.

Asked for a large chips. sausage and chips £5, good sausage, but only a small bag of chips. Put more chips in :)

Disgusting service. The man at the back was so rude and all I could hear was him shouting at staff and they were just, what I assume, young teens. Very unprofessional atmosphere. My order was totally wrong, undercooked and chips were stone cold. Definitely would not recommend at all!

Much better than previously. It was going downhill a while back but they now seem to have pulled their socks up and the freshness has improved. Recent orders have been freshly cooked rather than off the shelf which is vital for this type of food.

best fish and chips ive ever had ......

Ordered on line arrived at time stated. Told to wait. Waited 15 mins. Went back up to the counter, only for it to be taken off the top off the range where it had been sitting for the whole time I had been standing in the shop. A board or something to show internet ones that are ready might be an idea!

Consistently good delicious food. We especially like their fried Haloumi. Cannot recommend it enough. Not my local chippy by far, but worth the extra drive each time. Polite staff too.

Great chips and fish was nice enough although a little small. I ordered a gherkin pickle which, on opening my paper wrapped meal, initially thought was a small jalapeno pepper. The smallest pickle I've ever seen. Disappointed somewhat.

Great food , friendly efficient service

Service was good fish cooked whilst I waited. The food was great we had haddock, chips, sausage and mushy peas and all was lovely will definitely be going back. Reason for only 4 stars not 5 is that the app wouldn't work. The app sounds like a great idea particularly at the moment so hopefully it will work for me next time and I can give 5 stars.

Chaos, app orders sitting for an age, it would seem no real system in place or if there was no one seemed to know, over 17 quid for two scampi about chips with tartar sauce, 10 bits of scampi in one, 9 in the other plus one small empty shell of breadcrumbs. Returning after a while after going elsewhere but a bit disappointed.

We came to oisters lightwater yesterday i ordered sausage and chips chips very good sausage was hard must have been left over from the day before. Also ordered a pucker pie but the pie was not fit to eat the lid was solid & dry like cardboard inside not much better.

02/05/20. Ordered online as suggested. 2x cod n chips, mushy peas,gerkin and battered jumbo sausage. One cod seemed been sitting around a while as overcooked n batter cold n hard. Second not much better, chips also seemed to have been sitting around and cold. Not usual standard. Very disappointed. Think best to order in shop to be assured of fresh product.

It should of been open last sunday but was not .nothing on door to say why.when it says 5 to 9.open .very rude well thats it lost my custom and rest off my family

Asmed for cheese burger, got a plain burger, checked befot3I took it home, the chips were cold again. Why can't they get it right? It used to be great bere when the women owned it.

Usually enjoy the food, but a few times recently I have gone before closing only to be told they are shut, or they have stopped cooking. If you close at 9 but the door is locked at 8:55 I find that frustrating and poor service

A rather decent fish and chip shop, always busy, which I love, rather wait a little while and have chips straight out of fryer, and lovely crispy batter on my cod. Only problem for us is its just a little to far from home, and a 10 min drive means meal is cooling of by time we are home. Probably best to have it to eat now, and sit outside the shop and eat it there and then.

Mostly good chips and choice of Fish. Can get a little hectic early evening on Friday and Saturday. Till staff always polite .

When approaching the shop for the first time, queues out of the door are always encouraging and yet the staff had food in our hands within 10 minutes. Amazing quality of food, very welcoming staff and left us very full.

Terrible service. Placed an order for 22 children and when the order didn't arrive, they denied all knowledge of ever taking the order. I was made to feel like a liar and despite placing the order in person 48 hours previously, the same person that took the order stood there denying it. Will never use again.

I love their "gluten free tuesdays". I wish they did it more often! The food is always excellent and the portions are huge.

AGAIN I've been served undercooked, raw chips. Fish portions are getting much smaller too. I wont be going back again anymore, its really gone down hill in the last couple of years. Staff are always wearing dirty uniform too. As a positive, the shop itself does look clean.
