Oysters in Surrey Heath

My first time to try now that Jack's of Bagshot has gone. Promising start - Ordered on app and ready within 10 minutes; large portion of Haddock and HUGE portion of chips - enough for 2 or 3. But not cheap at almost £13. One end of fish seemed good, but it became drier and a bit less fresh at other end. Also I had around 5 bones in a haddock fillet. If it had been my wife, she would have given up there and then. Staffed by youngsters; not sure who is in charge. Will give it one more go sometime in November.

I wouldn’t bother. If you arrive at 1845 you don’t expect to be refused service because they are “too busy”. Staffed by idiots who couldn’t run a bath, let alone a business. Symptomatic of everything that is wrong with local business. I am cooking my own-time consuming unfortunately, but it will be better than what they usually serve here to be honest. Will NOT be going back.-unfriendly, inefficient and might as well close.

The meal was luke warm. Complained to Lightwater shop later that day. Their response was negative and rude. Emailed Head Office who were supportive of the shop manageress and dismissed our complaint. What has happened to "The customer is always right"? Never buy food near the end of a lunch time session Will never go to Oysters again

Wow! This place has gone seriously downhill. I’ve been double-charged by the app twice now. Tonight I placed an internet order. I arrived at the scheduled pick-up time. They hadn’t even started to cook it (only 2 others in the shop). Waited 15 min. When back at home discovered that the fish was off (semi-liquid). The onion rings were underdone and the mushy peas were basically pea soup. Poured the soup down the sink. Discarded the fish and onion rings, ate some chips and then went for a pizza elsewhere. Awful.

Came again here, similar timing last year, nice batter and quality still being upheld, try the seafood basket, it has everything!

Why can you not use my review. disgusting the price of a portion of chipe and the fish is mega expensive, never ever would i visit not only oysters but any other fish and chip shop in t future

Gav and his team did a great job supplying us with chips after a run for 15 people in Lightwater Country Park. They made sure that although they close at 9.30pm that they still had chips for us. Sophie was our contact and she was friendly and helpful.

Great (and great big) portions of perfectly prepared fish & chips. The restaurant was crowded, which was a good sign, and we didn’t have to wait all too long. But the wait was worth it!!

I thought I would try this takeaway for a change, although living in Farnborough, I thought it would be worth a try. So drove over there, on getting there it was quite busy, which is a good sign. However, it seemed to be like uncontrolled bedlam behind the counter, which was worrying, there was a slightly longer wait to be seen by the counter staff : part of the problem seems 2 B the streaming of delivery services & online orders, so the takeaway customers get the rough end of the stick. Anyway, down to the quality of the food, very nice, freshly cooked & tasty. I think I will stick with Kim's in Frimley though, as it is nearer & appears to have a better functioning system working in the shop. Well done though Oysters.

Fresh seafood, nice batter, clean. Exceed our expectation, yes a but more expensive, but high standard. Highly recommended!

Fantastic fish and chip shop. Quick service from friendly staff with good advice about the fish, the haddock was absolutely amazing. Well decorated and clean. So glad we stopped and will be making beeline for Oysters in the future. Try the fish cakes!

Plaice & chips takeaway. Two mouthfuls & into the bin it went. I will not be going back. Enough said.

Decided to have cod and chips for dinner, called in on the off chance. Virus protection very good, unfortunately the cod was terrible. It was thin and the batter hard and chewy. For £5.20 I would not have paid a £. It was not enjoyable in any shape or form. The chips where ok. In future Bagshot will be the chippy for me.

This Fish n chip shop a year or so ago was poor. Grey thin fish and soggy batter. Around 8-10mths ago we tried it again and could not believe it was the same shop. The fish was white much thicker with a lovely bubbly batter, and plenty of chips. We returned quite regularly. Sadly we have since had it again since the issue with Covid and whilst I applaud them for carrying on we have noticed the standards have slipped considerably and we are back to poor quality grey fish with a soggy batter. What a shame as this will put off repeat customers. Very sad.

Love this plaice - excuse the pun! :) Outstanding, without a doubt the best fish and chips in the area. Fish always fresh and good quality, perfectly cooked, never overdone. I stop here every Saturday after football and it never disappoints. We have a UK top 10 chippy in Guildford, but this far exceeds anything I’ve had from there. Top chippy!

Popped in for an unplanned lunch. Fish cooked fresh on all orders which made a nice change from most places that will batch cook. The batter looked a little undercooked but was perfectly thin and crispy. Fish was large and perfectly cooked, flaking easily. Chips were proper tasty and a perfect combination of crispy edges and soft fluffy insides.Happy days, I’ll be back again soon.

Good food. Ok value for money if you get one of their deals. Service varies, good-mediocre and back, never bad! Good overall.

Really good fish and chips but the chicken nuggets seem processed. Jacks in Bagshot have real pieces of chicken, much nicer.

i went to this fish about 3 weeks ago then came back last night, i realised that it has gone uphill its food quality has got far better(i had chicken nuggets) they ddep fry every thing so not the best for a person who is on a diet but i would reccomend this fishshop to anybody who hasnot ever had fish n chips

A few months ago we found Oysters had gone downhill, tried them again at the weekend and they appear to be back on form! Perfect meals all round. You have a customer back!

As somebody who can't eat fish, it's seriously annoying to see young serving staff pick up my wife's fish and then use the same tool to pick up a meat pie, sausage or piece of chicken I've had to wait 5 minutes for to be deep fried. I remember the days when chippies spit roast chickens!!!

Rubbish service. We asked for one adult portion of chips and they gave use cod and chips but then they took away cod leave us with only a really small amount of chips what wouldn’t fill up a child. So we had to go back in again to ask where is the rest of chips. They did put more in but no where near the standard amount what I normally get. I won’t be going there again. PLEASE AVOID!

Stopped off here by chance last night.. thoroughly surprised at how good it was. Ordered chips, chicken nuggets, battered sausage and curry sauce. Portion size was big, chicken nuggets cooked to order.. chips were lovely and the curry sauce probably the best i have ever tasted :) super happy with order and will go back if passing for sure.

Very disappointed used to be a very good takeaway shop but last Thursday we had a chippy and it was stone cold 😳 won’t be going back in a hurry

Never seen so many people moaning like little girls , Food is always great and they always put in big big effort into what they do , food and service in my opinion is awesome !!!!

It's an ok fish and chip shop, not outstanding. One issue is the lack of training for the young servers. I'm allergic to fish, wife isn't, so I rely on sausages or meat pies. Ive watched them several times pick up fish and then a sausage or pie using the same grabs. I've had to pull them up several times.

So what’s happened to this local chippy that used to be 5 star? Has it changed ownership? They never have enough pies, the curry sauce pot is only half filled with tepid goo and the chips seem to be largely made up of shavings and bits. Perhaps I have been unlucky on the last 3 visits but unless there is a serious improvement I shall be off elsewhere. Considering the premium price they charge it is not good enough.

First visit here and the cod was lovely and crisp, not greasy at all, and the chips were also good. Nothing to complain about thank you

Oysters is always consistently good fish and chips. Great portion size, fresh fish and the batter is always crisp. You can't go wrong here.

Had a portion of chips here last week and have never eaten anything like it. Some were undercooked which does seem a common problem here. Most of them thou were clearly re heated left overs and were crunchy and chewy. Really unpleasant so after about 6 like that I binned the lot. What has happened to this place?. I have been here loads of times because it was always excellent.

Generally the fish and chips from Oysters is very good but my last visit was not the case. Undercooked fish and a soggy batter mix. They need to pull their socks up. I sent them a facebook message as I was so disappointed but they have totally ignored my feedback. I will try them one more time but if I find their quality to be substandard again it will be my last visit.

Visited on the off chance and was not disappointed.... freshly cooked fish and nice fresh chips..pleasant staff and clean premises....

some years back, this chip shop went downhill. However, in recent years its has improved a lot and offers all the usual optopns you would expect!
