I just wanted to give a big shout out to those who made our Birthday Lunch last Sunday so enjoyable. I can't speak highly enough of our dedicated server Chloe, for whom nothing was too much trouble. We booked the Bait Box a few months back for a 90th Birthday get together, and from the outset both Adele and Alex have been amazing. They have quickly responded to any questions raised and happily accommodated the tweaking of guest numbers etc, making the whole process unbelievably stress free. So thank you again for making it such a memorable day!

Chicken Milenise was under seasoned and over cooked

🍽️ Food: Good options like pasta, red meat, and chicken, but limited vegetarian choices. More healthy and gluten/dairy-free options would be great. Menu changes in April 2024 made portions smaller with fewer green options. 🍵 Tea: Limited variety; more options would be nice. 🏞️ Ambience: Warm, cosy atmosphere with large windows and a lovely mini-lake view. Service is great with complimentary bottled water. 🍖 Lamb: Delicious with gravy, 8/10. 🐟 Fish & Chips: Small portion, 6/10. 🍝 Pasta: Good but could use more flavour, 7/10. 🍔 Hamburger: Poor ingredients, cold onions, unmelted cheese. 🍰 Dessert: The blueberry and lemon Eton mess is a great deal at £5, 8/10. Coffee was fine, but berry crème brûlée was disappointing, 4/10. 🛎️ Service: Slow due to lack of waitstaff. 🐾 Pet-Friendly: Only in some areas. Great experience, but room for improvement.

Chloe was excellent waitress. There was 38 people everything was spot on.

I found the food enormously improved compared to last time I visited (last summer). The atmosphere remains fantastic and amazing was Rob our waiter. Extremely attentive and kind!

Terrible rude manager !!!! Usually love this place and always recommend and bring family who live out the area ,due to the lovely position of the restaurant and quirky decor! However after mentioning we loved the burgers to the waitress but unfortunately the Gammon Was over salty way saltier than usual and the chicken burger was inedible and burned !

I have been going for a good couple years. I did start to feel as if it wasn’t as good as it used to be. However tonight… the food was unreal I couldn’t give you a single fault. Our waiter Wendy was incredible, she was checking on us making sure we had everything we needed. The food came quick and was amazing. Really enjoyed the experience. Definitely recommend, and hope you get Wendy.

Had a lovely family meal at the Kingfisher this evening. Wendy was so lovely, giving great recommendations on food and was very personable and attentive. Delicious food and great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend a visit for any occasion and ask for Wendy!!

Amazing place with a lot of quirky charm. As always food and drink were excellent. Our waitress Mia did a great job keeping us happy on a busy Saturday evening. We will be back soon !

Lovely feel to the place and staff were lovely. Unfortunately the chicken burger I had was truly disgusting. In hindsight I really should have sent it back but I really didn't want to cause a scene. My husbands lasagne was 'ok' but a pretty small portion. I came here in the summer and had a much better experience with the food, not sure whether it's a change in management, different chef or what? It's so local to us but unfortunately won't be returning.

I had the market fish… it was the smallest meal I have ever had at a restaurant. Fish was a tiny square, one mouthful of kale (no spinach) and a few new potatoes … nothing like the photo on the website. Absolute only one star and that’s more than deserved. Left restaurant still hungry … worst meal I’ve had there, will not be coming back.

We have been coming regularly at least once a fortnight for years(!) However, recently we feel that the food quality is slipping. The portions have been getting smaller for some time (eg the fish and chips), and I have had two weeks of poor meals - the escalop milanese was cremated, and the steak and stilton pie had one tiny brocolli and a minute amount of kale... Pity as the service and atmosphere are still great/

Really disappointed, we booked a table for 4pm on Sunday, went to place my order, they didn't have the IPA beer, they didn't have any Calamari and no roast chicken left, they only had 1 chocolate cheesecake sphere left. I ended up ordering the buttermilk chicken Milanese 🥴 - was that a mistake, a dry piece of chicken on some skinny fries.

We attend kingfisher's almost on a weekly basis for their Sunday roast. The food is always tasty and the service is also friendly and quick. We will keep coming back as long as it stays that way. Visited for the first time again in several months and quality of food is still great as is the service. Update: This place has changed a lot. The Sunday roast is almost half the size of what it used to be a few months ago. The prices also have gone up, while the portions have gone down. I don't expect we'll be returning any time soon.

We attended today at lunch time for our managers 50th birthday lunch, and the food was lovely! Our waitress was Wendy and she was attentive, and very welcoming and engaging whilst we were there. Thank you so much!

I had the Wagu burger very nice, but the plate looked empty, but with a bit of garnish would have made it look nicer.

The food portions were too small and therefore overpriced, however the quality was excellent and flavourful. The staff were very friendly and accommodating while the restaurant had a great atmosphere and decor. A characterful find and lovely location beside the lake.

My wife and I have been to this restaurant several times for lunch and have always been impressed with the service, particularly when served by Wendy. There is a good choice on the menu and the prices are reasonable, and represent good value.

Charlie was very friendly and helpful. Always making sure everything was okay throughout our visit.

Charlie is always amazing. She is so welcoming and friendly. She remembers my allergens and is always accommodating in ensuring what I can and cannot eat. Charlie is fantastic member of the team.

We had a lovely time and Alfie did a great job of looking after us. Would recommend if you are bringing children and dogs for an early Sunday tea

Found this place by chance when my daughter and I met half way for lunch. Absolutely perfect and love the quirkiness of the decor. Although it is very big, it is sectioned into smaller areas, which makes it intimate and cosy.

As always, what a lovely experience we had! We love the character and atmosphere of the Kingfisher. Wendy, who served us definitely went the extra mile, tending to our requests. Thank you Wendy. The chips are to die for! I will not recommend the Steak Frites - quite a lot of gristle. Wendy graciously replaced the dish with another order.

Gorgeous little hideaway on the back end of Camberley. Quirky little shanty hut with a don’t judge a book by its cover look. Stunning interior and beautiful in the summer and spring to sit deck side watching the watersport activities on the lake.

Visited here for a drink and lunch mainly to catch up with some friends/former colleagues. We all agreed the ambience, food and drink was excellent, but most of all the service from our server, Wendy was brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble and she was so friendly and helpful - a real asset to the place! Can't wait to return.

We had gone for Christmas dinner with my colleagues. We had pre-booked and definitely will recommend pre order. Restaurant was full and beautiful interesting interior design. I had duck , green peppercorn and orange terrine as starter, roast turkey for mains and Christmas pudding for dessert. It was definitely worth the visit, satisfying meal and maybe little too much for me 🫣. Would definitely come back in summer to see amazing view of quayside.

What a great night on Friday 20th December with a few friends at Kingfisher on the Key. Being around Xmas you expect a sort of mediocre experience with with both food and service where ever you go. However nothing could be faulted at the Kingfisher, the atmosphere was great, the food was excellent and plenty of it and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Much appreciated team at the Kingfisher, thumbs up all round. Cheers

Had a lovely family birthday meal. Even had a decent menu for my gluten free husband, which makes a change.

Quirky restaurant with lots of character. Had a lovely Christmas menu & was very impressed with the dairy and gluten free options! We prebooked our table and meals with a deposit. Staff were very attentive. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. Plenty of parking, although we went on a stormy day and there were large craters and deep puddles in places.

Wonderful food, atmosphere and incredible service for a large party of nearly 40 persons. Our hostess Aeryn was simply outstanding and made us feel special. We will be returning at the soonest opportunity. Thank you all.

Had a pleasant business dinner in November, both myself and the guests have been superbly attended by the staff which made sure the our glasses were not empty, overall dish quality was medium.

Great food, with a great atmosphere and very friendly and professional staff. Our favourite place!! Edited!!! Booked a table for the 02nd of December for my birthday, left stood for minutes without anyone greeting me even though they had staff walking around. The food arrived before the drinks and way to fast suggesting it has been prepared in advance and therefore it’s not fresh. Everything was a rush around and even the birthday cake was brought to our table without anyone asking for it. We really felt we were being pushed to get out and they spoiled our evening by doing so. We did left a tip which was more as an obligation than a suggestion for a good service, which it wasn’t. It’s a shame as this used to be our favourite place for a night out, but I don’t think we will go back.

On my fifth visit recently they had increased the prices across the entire menu and what a disappointment with the food I ordered. I ordered fish with baby potatoes and wilted vegetables. The fish was nice but it was a simple piece of steamed cod for £17 The potatoes were awful …. how can you not cook a potato…. the portion of vegetables were tiny and not wilted but soggy and overcooked. I have very little appetite but the portion was. only fit for a child. The quality overall was poor for a simple dish and an extremely high price. The prices for the Christmas menu are exorbitant either ALL Christmas menu starters at £10 before you’ve chosen a main or dessert. Such a shame the food has gone downhill and the prices have been highly inflated.

Visited today for Sunday lunch with friends. Good was great and our waitress Audrey was super friendly. Runners need to remember to check on sauces etc, but other than that we had a great lunch.

We had grown tired of the Quays over the last few years as the menu never seemed to change and nearly all of the small plates available tasted exactly the same. Also, food was very mass produced and the same sauces, sticky coatings and mayonnaise were on every dish (it seemed like anyway). I’ve been back to the Kingfisher on the quay three times over the last few months and each time have had a pleasant and improved experience . Yesterday the staff were noticeably more polished and attentive . In our last visit, Evie was particularly good, very attentive and made the time to speak with us and engage with us as customers. Had a roast dinner and the plant based burger, both of which were very nice . Roast could’ve done with being a little bit hotter with more gravy but when I asked for additional gravy, it arrived piping hot moments later which was great! Small plates are still looking a bit mass produced and repetitive so we avoided those on this occasion . Would be good if they could get those sorted. All in all, a pleasant experience, although quite pricey . Two drinks each and one main course each for two was £65. Keep going though. It’s nearly there and we will be back again soon 👏👏🙂

Except from the very nice food and service the design of the restaurant makes a unique atmosphere and makes it very cozy.

What a lovely evening we had a this Restaurant, they have created the perfect atmosphere and vibe to allow us to unwind and enjoys an evening with friends. The food was impeccable and portion sizes were generous too, and the service couldn’t have been any better. Our server was friendly and attentive and gave us helpful recommendations when we were at a loss of what wine and desserts we wanted. The Manager Alex came over to us to check that we were having a good evening and spent some time telling us about some of the exciting changes being made. We are particularly looking forward to the live entertainment in December and have booked already. Alex and her Team clearly know what they are doing to create an amazing customer experience. Thank you so much! Ps. Top tip- Grab a blanket and a Baileys and head out on the decking that overlooks the stunning lake! It was lush!

You could always be sure to get well cooked pub grub, but by our experience today that’s no longer the case. If I had been paying all the food would have gone straight back, potato’s not cooked,pork overcooked and very little pork, vegetables soggy and puddings warm. If their aim is to get as many as possible through the door then they are succeeding. I will not be helping them to that goal in future. Come back Derek

Excellent service, food we had was very good.

I have eaten there many times and always enjoyed the experience. This revue is more of a warning to the owners than anything else. The food is fine for pub style . I understand prices have risen but the Quality must be maintained if a business is to survive. We both had fish and chips and I have seen more fish in a fish finger. The chef should be ashamed to pass this to customers. I regret not taking a photo. Value for money is the watchword and there was little value in this visit. What a pity. Will I return? Not sure.

We had Lolah as our hostess and she was brilliant. Enjoyed a lovely girls dinner recently.

The Kingfisher is a family favourite whether celebrating a special occasion with friends or for a quiet family meal out. We always receive a warm friendly welcome and the food and service never disappoints. We love the cosy atmosphere especially on a cold wet day. We were particularly grateful to the team today who went the extra mile to get the fire going for us! The menu is varied and there is always something to suit everyone's taste. Today I enjoyed the delicious Sunday roast of pork belly followed by an equally tasty hazlenut creme brulee. As always the service was excellent. Thank you for another enjoyable and top rate experience at the Kingfisher. We very much look forward to our next visit.

This is laid out really nice here, but the food is very average don't get me wrong it was served to me just fine but definitely average. I will probably be back here because it is a lovely setting and the service was good on a summer day. This place would be fantastic to sit outside.

Lovely place to relax and have a meal. Great vibe, love the atmosphere and decor. The food was excellent, our waiter was so attentive and accommodating. Overall, this was a great dinning experience.

A huge thank you to Alex and her team for hosting our reception lunch yesterday. Everything went perfectly, and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. They got out over 40 meals most efficiently.We've had lunch here several times in the past and the food is excellent. I particularly enjoy the modern takes on traditional desserts, like the tiramisu, which is wonderful. Thank you so much for a wonderful day.

A quieter night, which the waitress claimed was busy despite 75% of the tables around us being empty. Food was good, but a bit quick, all felt very rushed. Was trying to enjoy an easy relaxing anniversary meal with my wife and we were in and out within an hour. Service was particularly poor, waited over 20 minutes for two glasses of water but took less than two minutes (1:52 to be precise) for the bill to arrive. Fairly clear that their only interest is taking your money and not at all focussed on the customer experience. Disappointing as a previously good local restaurant but now I won’t return.

We went on the spare of the moment as it was a nice day. We walked in the the gentleman asked us if we had a reservation and we said we hadn't. He told us that wasn't a problem as he wasn't fully booked so he took us outside and sat us right down the far end of the outside seating area. I asked if we could sit on the nicer seats up on the decking and not in the corner out of the way and then also my son could watch the people paddleboarding etc. He told us we couldn't sit there as that's for people who are ordering food and having lunch. I said to him that we will be ordering food and having some lunch and drinks. He told us that's where we need to sit and walked off. I asked one of the young ladies if we could move she said she had to ask. The gentleman came back and said No you can't move as your not having lunch and walked off. I ordered a kids meal for my son and we only had a drink each as I was put off by the service. Such a shame as it was a really pleasant afternoon and could have spent a few hours there relaxing

The Kingfisher was a fairly last minute change of plan but we definitely made the right choice Parking was easy. Service was good & the food excellent The only shame was that, with the earlier nights, we didn't get the same lovely views over the water we got last time But you can hardly blame them for that!

We went on a Sunday at 19:30, I have to say the menu was not extensive by any means. There was nothing I fancied from the main menu other than a steak, and I was not hungry enough for that. So although we were not really considering a Sunday roast we decided to go for that and both chose the pork belly. The first thing they said was that they only had one left and they had also run out of chicken and beef, so my wife decided to go for the lamb. I kid you not the meals arrived within 3 minutes, so obviously had not been cooked to order. Although my Wife’s lamb was satisfactory, my pork definitely was not, as it had obviously been on the warming tray all day. In fact all the veg had been sitting around a while as the roast potatoes were rock hard. The meat side of the pork was dry and hard, and the crackling side was so hard I think it would have stopped a bullet. I complained and after apologies was asked if I would like something else, so I chose the lamb only to be told they had run out (my wife apparently had the last one). “Would I like something from the main menu”, no I wouldn’t as it was a choice of fish, steak or a burger - and only one variation of each. So I persevered with the almost inedible pork and the manager knocked 20% of the whole bill. Fair enough that the restaurant did all they could in the circumstances, but I would sooner have had an edible meal rather than a discount. In response to the reply from Kingfisher on the Quay I can only add ‘In your dreams’, I will never be returning and will dissuade all others that I can.

Our experience today was excellent. Our server, Jenny was amazing, she’s only been there for 1 month I believe, however as frequent diners she excelled herself and showed great knowledge of the menu and history of the restaurant. The food and new menu were great, much improved Sunday roast and we loved the dessert and cocktail option 😊 Thank you to the whole team, we’ll be back again soon.

I met some friends for dinner and we had been to the Kingfisher's before and knew it was a nice place. However I made the mistake of ordering the seasonal salad with roasted roots vegetables with kale and barley. Admittedly, it’s not typical pub grub but it was a big disappointment as the portion was small - I thought it was the starter size when it was given to me - I could barely spot the barley and even though the vegetables were nicely roasted, there were no other flavours or dressing. It was all a bit watery and left me feeling dissatisfied and hungry. To me, it was not a main course. Furthermore, it was expensive for what it was (£14). I added some extra prawns to add to the protein intake and paid an extra £5 for 5 small prawns. So overall not worth the money and disappointing. I did order a mini pudding which was nice. The service was good but we felt rushed and felt like our table was needed for someone else when the pub was far for being full. So even though the Kingfisher on the Quays is a nice location with nice views and decor, I will not go there again to eat.

What a great place tucked away! The food was lovely, the service was great (Alex is brilliant!) and the restaurant is quirky. Well worth a visit. We went Sunday evening, and roasts had run out unfortunately, but it's hardly surprising as they are known for great Sunday roasts, so if you want one book early

Hi there, I’ve just dined here for lunch and thought I’d get a thoroughly well deserved good review in quickly. The food was very well prepared and delicious ( market fish of the day with baby potatoes, lovely green vegetables and an amazing lobster bisque sauce. Our waitress (Beth ) was equally great. Very pleasant and professional. A real credit to the restaurant I would say. Well done to Beth and the rest of the team.

We took our family here to celebrate my Mum’s birthday. It was such a lovely experience from the welcome we received, to the food and beyond. An absolutely fantastic experience. A special mention to Thomas and Lila for being so happy to help, cheerful and attentive. They are a credit to the team. A lovely venue and we will keep going back!

We visited the Kingfisher as it's a regular for our monthly reunion, and the venue is ideally situated between us all and has the lovely surroundings and lake. The restaurant itself had great atmosphere as always and despite a minor hiccup with our booking time, it was perfectly handled by the staff. Food wise was great and we kicked off with a sharing platter whilst waiting for the rest of the party to arrive and again this wasn't an issue. The table was fabulous and they catered for the 4 legged friend in our party as well. What really turned this visit into 5* above our other visits was our waitress Caitlin (hope I've spelt that correctly). She was phenomenal. Nothing was too much trouble, she checked in with us regularly, recommended suitable menu items, especially the sticky toffee with custard that was scrumptious but above all her charming smile and interaction with the table made it a visit that we were keen to repeat to the point we have attempted to reserve the same table, food and waitress for next months visit so hoping she's working the night of our next visit.

Visited Kingfisher on the Quay for Sunday lunch and couldn’t fault it! Beautifully decorated indoors with beautiful views over the lake outdoors. We all had the roast pork and it was plentiful and delicious, as were the desserts. We are also really impressed with the friendly and attentive service. Really hope we will be back!

I went for the Tapas style meal and I was very impressed. Everyone at the meal tucked in and the food was good. Service was excellent, attentive without being pushy. Young lady who’s Brother also worked there. The surroundings were quirky but had a certain something. Overall an excellent meal and good value.

The new menu has a variety of well prepared food and a reasonably priced wine list. All served with a smile!
