Nice and quite location close to a small lake, good choosing of menu with popular prize, large parking outside

Had a Great Sunday Lunch here today, with friends. Have to especially mention our waitress, whose name was Audrey. Very welcoming, helpful, polite and jolly. Enhanced our experience thank you.

Visited today for Sunday lunch with friends. Good was great and our waitress Audrey was super friendly. Runners need to remember to check on sauces etc, but other than that we had a great lunch.

We had grown tired of the Quays over the last few years as the menu never seemed to change and nearly all of the small plates available tasted exactly the same. Also, food was very mass produced and the same sauces, sticky coatings and mayonnaise were on every dish (it seemed like anyway). I’ve been back to the Kingfisher on the quay three times over the last few months and each time have had a pleasant and improved experience . Yesterday the staff were noticeably more polished and attentive . In our last visit, Evie was particularly good, very attentive and made the time to speak with us and engage with us as customers. Had a roast dinner and the plant based burger, both of which were very nice . Roast could’ve done with being a little bit hotter with more gravy but when I asked for additional gravy, it arrived piping hot moments later which was great! Small plates are still looking a bit mass produced and repetitive so we avoided those on this occasion . Would be good if they could get those sorted. All in all, a pleasant experience, although quite pricey . Two drinks each and one main course each for two was £65. Keep going though. It’s nearly there and we will be back again soon 👏👏🙂

Except from the very nice food and service the design of the restaurant makes a unique atmosphere and makes it very cozy.

Evie was amazing!! Her service really made the evening, she was so hospitable and the food was incredible. A great night!

My husband and I had lunch there today, and were particularly impressed with our waitress Beth she was attentive friendly and very efficient. The good and atmosphere was also very good

Food was great but portions quiet small.

You could always be sure to get well cooked pub grub, but by our experience today that’s no longer the case. If I had been paying all the food would have gone straight back, potato’s not cooked,pork overcooked and very little pork, vegetables soggy and puddings warm. If their aim is to get as many as possible through the door then they are succeeding. I will not be helping them to that goal in future. Come back Derek

What a lovely evening we had a this Restaurant, they have created the perfect atmosphere and vibe to allow us to unwind and enjoys an evening with friends. The food was impeccable and portion sizes were generous too, and the service couldn’t have been any better. Our server was friendly and attentive and gave us helpful recommendations when we were at a loss of what wine and desserts we wanted. The Manager Alex came over to us to check that we were having a good evening and spent some time telling us about some of the exciting changes being made. We are particularly looking forward to the live entertainment in December and have booked already. Alex and her Team clearly know what they are doing to create an amazing customer experience. Thank you so much! Ps. Top tip- Grab a blanket and a Baileys and head out on the decking that overlooks the stunning lake! It was lush!

Excellent service, food we had was very good.

I have eaten there many times and always enjoyed the experience. This revue is more of a warning to the owners than anything else. The food is fine for pub style . I understand prices have risen but the Quality must be maintained if a business is to survive. We both had fish and chips and I have seen more fish in a fish finger. The chef should be ashamed to pass this to customers. I regret not taking a photo. Value for money is the watchword and there was little value in this visit. What a pity. Will I return? Not sure.

We had Lolah as our hostess and she was brilliant. Enjoyed a lovely girls dinner recently.

The Kingfisher is a family favourite whether celebrating a special occasion with friends or for a quiet family meal out. We always receive a warm friendly welcome and the food and service never disappoints. We love the cosy atmosphere especially on a cold wet day. We were particularly grateful to the team today who went the extra mile to get the fire going for us! The menu is varied and there is always something to suit everyone's taste. Today I enjoyed the delicious Sunday roast of pork belly followed by an equally tasty hazlenut creme brulee. As always the service was excellent. Thank you for another enjoyable and top rate experience at the Kingfisher. We very much look forward to our next visit.

This is laid out really nice here, but the food is very average don't get me wrong it was served to me just fine but definitely average. I will probably be back here because it is a lovely setting and the service was good on a summer day. This place would be fantastic to sit outside.

Lovely place to relax and have a meal. Great vibe, love the atmosphere and decor. The food was excellent, our waiter was so attentive and accommodating. Overall, this was a great dinning experience.

A huge thank you to Alex and her team for hosting our reception lunch yesterday. Everything went perfectly, and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. They got out over 40 meals most efficiently.We've had lunch here several times in the past and the food is excellent. I particularly enjoy the modern takes on traditional desserts, like the tiramisu, which is wonderful. Thank you so much for a wonderful day.

A quieter night, which the waitress claimed was busy despite 75% of the tables around us being empty. Food was good, but a bit quick, all felt very rushed. Was trying to enjoy an easy relaxing anniversary meal with my wife and we were in and out within an hour. Service was particularly poor, waited over 20 minutes for two glasses of water but took less than two minutes (1:52 to be precise) for the bill to arrive. Fairly clear that their only interest is taking your money and not at all focussed on the customer experience. Disappointing as a previously good local restaurant but now I won’t return.

We went on the spare of the moment as it was a nice day. We walked in the the gentleman asked us if we had a reservation and we said we hadn't. He told us that wasn't a problem as he wasn't fully booked so he took us outside and sat us right down the far end of the outside seating area. I asked if we could sit on the nicer seats up on the decking and not in the corner out of the way and then also my son could watch the people paddleboarding etc. He told us we couldn't sit there as that's for people who are ordering food and having lunch. I said to him that we will be ordering food and having some lunch and drinks. He told us that's where we need to sit and walked off. I asked one of the young ladies if we could move she said she had to ask. The gentleman came back and said No you can't move as your not having lunch and walked off. I ordered a kids meal for my son and we only had a drink each as I was put off by the service. Such a shame as it was a really pleasant afternoon and could have spent a few hours there relaxing

The Kingfisher was a fairly last minute change of plan but we definitely made the right choice Parking was easy. Service was good & the food excellent The only shame was that, with the earlier nights, we didn't get the same lovely views over the water we got last time But you can hardly blame them for that!

We went on a Sunday at 19:30, I have to say the menu was not extensive by any means. There was nothing I fancied from the main menu other than a steak, and I was not hungry enough for that. So although we were not really considering a Sunday roast we decided to go for that and both chose the pork belly. The first thing they said was that they only had one left and they had also run out of chicken and beef, so my wife decided to go for the lamb. I kid you not the meals arrived within 3 minutes, so obviously had not been cooked to order. Although my Wife’s lamb was satisfactory, my pork definitely was not, as it had obviously been on the warming tray all day. In fact all the veg had been sitting around a while as the roast potatoes were rock hard. The meat side of the pork was dry and hard, and the crackling side was so hard I think it would have stopped a bullet. I complained and after apologies was asked if I would like something else, so I chose the lamb only to be told they had run out (my wife apparently had the last one). “Would I like something from the main menu”, no I wouldn’t as it was a choice of fish, steak or a burger - and only one variation of each. So I persevered with the almost inedible pork and the manager knocked 20% of the whole bill. Fair enough that the restaurant did all they could in the circumstances, but I would sooner have had an edible meal rather than a discount. In response to the reply from Kingfisher on the Quay I can only add ‘In your dreams’, I will never be returning and will dissuade all others that I can.

Our experience today was excellent. Our server, Jenny was amazing, she’s only been there for 1 month I believe, however as frequent diners she excelled herself and showed great knowledge of the menu and history of the restaurant. The food and new menu were great, much improved Sunday roast and we loved the dessert and cocktail option 😊 Thank you to the whole team, we’ll be back again soon.

I met some friends for dinner and we had been to the Kingfisher's before and knew it was a nice place. However I made the mistake of ordering the seasonal salad with roasted roots vegetables with kale and barley. Admittedly, it’s not typical pub grub but it was a big disappointment as the portion was small - I thought it was the starter size when it was given to me - I could barely spot the barley and even though the vegetables were nicely roasted, there were no other flavours or dressing. It was all a bit watery and left me feeling dissatisfied and hungry. To me, it was not a main course. Furthermore, it was expensive for what it was (£14). I added some extra prawns to add to the protein intake and paid an extra £5 for 5 small prawns. So overall not worth the money and disappointing. I did order a mini pudding which was nice. The service was good but we felt rushed and felt like our table was needed for someone else when the pub was far for being full. So even though the Kingfisher on the Quays is a nice location with nice views and decor, I will not go there again to eat.

What a great place tucked away! The food was lovely, the service was great (Alex is brilliant!) and the restaurant is quirky. Well worth a visit. We went Sunday evening, and roasts had run out unfortunately, but it's hardly surprising as they are known for great Sunday roasts, so if you want one book early

Hi there, I’ve just dined here for lunch and thought I’d get a thoroughly well deserved good review in quickly. The food was very well prepared and delicious ( market fish of the day with baby potatoes, lovely green vegetables and an amazing lobster bisque sauce. Our waitress (Beth ) was equally great. Very pleasant and professional. A real credit to the restaurant I would say. Well done to Beth and the rest of the team.

A great experience, as always, at this lovely venue. Never been disappointed. Fabulous food. A particular mention for our waitress Lila who gave truly exceptional service - very efficient, lovely manner - commented on by the senior members of our party - who have particularly high standards! We took our family here to celebrate my Mum’s birthday. It was such a lovely experience from the welcome we received, to the food and beyond. An absolutely fantastic experience. A special mention to Thomas and Lila for being so happy to help, cheerful and attentive. They are a credit to the team. A lovely venue and we will keep going back!

We visited the Kingfisher as it's a regular for our monthly reunion, and the venue is ideally situated between us all and has the lovely surroundings and lake. The restaurant itself had great atmosphere as always and despite a minor hiccup with our booking time, it was perfectly handled by the staff. Food wise was great and we kicked off with a sharing platter whilst waiting for the rest of the party to arrive and again this wasn't an issue. The table was fabulous and they catered for the 4 legged friend in our party as well. What really turned this visit into 5* above our other visits was our waitress Caitlin (hope I've spelt that correctly). She was phenomenal. Nothing was too much trouble, she checked in with us regularly, recommended suitable menu items, especially the sticky toffee with custard that was scrumptious but above all her charming smile and interaction with the table made it a visit that we were keen to repeat to the point we have attempted to reserve the same table, food and waitress for next months visit so hoping she's working the night of our next visit.

I went for the Tapas style meal and I was very impressed. Everyone at the meal tucked in and the food was good. Service was excellent, attentive without being pushy. Young lady who’s Brother also worked there. The surroundings were quirky but had a certain something. Overall an excellent meal and good value.

Visited Kingfisher on the Quay for Sunday lunch and couldn’t fault it! Beautifully decorated indoors with beautiful views over the lake outdoors. We all had the roast pork and it was plentiful and delicious, as were the desserts. We are also really impressed with the friendly and attentive service. Really hope we will be back!

The new menu has a variety of well prepared food and a reasonably priced wine list. All served with a smile!

The food was out of this world and I don't make these comments lightly. Food was served to perfection, presentation was amazing and food was served in under 10-12 minutes per course! Wendy (our server) was a breath of fresh air! Friendly, professional, accommodating and all round just a wonderful person to meet in general. Takes pride in what she does, and delivers a service which makes you feel homely. If I had a restaurant, I'd hire as Wendy in a heartbeat. Good food and friendly service.

Lovely atmosphere, we were there on a busy evening, so service was sometimes a little slow, but not too bad. Food was good, not massive portions, so in my opinion, a little expensive, but nice for a 'once in a while treat' . Staff were friendly and helpful.

Our waitress Micheal was excellent & the food very good. You made my mum special as it was her 89th birthday. Very impressed.

Ive been here a couple of times and it’s always such a lovely place for lunch lakeside. After renting kayaks next door it was perfect having the roast for £18 here. The service is very accommodating as well.

I recently dined at The Kingfisher in the Quay, and while the overall experience was pleasant, the food itself left something to be desired. Most of the dishes were just okay, with many of them tasting quite bland and lacking in flavor. The desserts were the worst, I ordered a tiramisu and a cheesecake but it was not at all good in taste, and it was not even a tiramisu or a cheesecake it was something else, not sure what. That said, the ambience of the restaurant is really nice, providing a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The service was good, and while the staff was polite, they didn’t stand out as particularly attentive or memorable. In summary, the food could use improvement, but the atmosphere and service make it a decent spot for a quiet meal.

Absolutely loved my dinner here - great food, accommodated us despite no booking, excellent service and friendly staff - a little hidden gem! Would recommend the Pan Seared Duck and Cherry Pie.

Food was disgusting. Looked and tasted like a Wetherspoons microwave meal slopped on the plate. See photo. Ordered prawn linguine. Kids portion size. Total embarrassment of a main course. We won't be going back.

Beautiful location overlooking the lake, full of happy staff giving great service. Having tapas style snacks coming out on a board was a great way to share food with the family. We had a high chair outside and the dog with us, such a welcoming environment 10/10!

Three of us went to the Quays for lunch today as we have birthdays within days of each other. We had Charlie looking after us and have to say she was so helpful and friendly! We enjoyed the whole experience. Many thanks and we will be back soon! Thanks Charlie

Nice and relaxing pub with good food

Great location, it's a fantastic place to meet friends and enjoy a lazy afternoon or balmy summers evening

The ambience has improved a lot since my last visit and is relaxing and not too noisy. However the food wasn't quite up to the standard of the Heron on the Lake ( I had fish and the accompanying veges lacked something). The service was good and everyone else enjoyed their food.

Aeryn was amazing! My dad was in need of quick food due to be diabetic and she was quick to serve and help us from the start and then also through the night. We didn’t have to keep looking for her as when we needed help she had her eyes on her tables to help! Amazing service 🤩🫶🏽

This is the third time we have booked and turned up to find it closed, twice saying a power cut and once because staff had Covid, no phone calls to cancel, won’t get my business again, other people turning up and no phone call, really poor show

Went last night for a birthday meal with my family. The seating was excellent as was the ambience of the restraunt. It was busy however the service did not reflect this as the food was served promptly . The waitress was attentive. I would recomend it.

I left this off here before but I have been told they still have this awful mindset. I will never return here. I went to have a quick drink a few years ago early evening - We had time to kill before a cinema screening. I was turned away because I had a vest on. I was told it was because I have tattoos (for context, my tattoos are not offensive, they are non symbolic patterns that have no meaning or significance to anything) I then looked inside and questioned why the person sat having dinner was allowed a sleeveless top and to have their tattoos on show and the staff member explained it was because she was female. I felt embarrassed and uncomfortable. Tattoos or not, male/female or any gender, you shouldn't single people out.

First time back here for many years. Very impressed. Excellent food and excellent service from charming Edward. Will definitely come again.

Nice location next to the Blackwater Watersports in Mytchett. The decor is very nice. The staff are very attentive. The GF menu was quite comprehensive which was good to see. The food I felt was nice but nothing special, that said we were only eating lasagne and burger and chip dinners and I feel it was a little overpriced for what it was at £170 for 4 of us.

Popped in for lunch with dog after paddle boarding next door , busy but seated swiftly & our server Aeryn was brilliant. Attentive & easily chatted with us plus brought fresh water bowl over for the dog . Atmosphere good with quirky decor . Highly recommend!

What a lovely restaurant! We had a selection of the starters but they weren't the best, a bit tasteless to be honest. The camembert had no taste and yet it was supposed to have rosemary and pecan flavours, quite disappointed. The nicest thing we ate ,by far , was the chicken crackling and jue starter, that was amazing. We will go back to try some of the mains and give the food one more chance. 🤞. The service was great though and the atmosphere was nice , I loved the restaurant itself, decorated SO nice it felt like we was on holiday.

I discovered this restaurant during a hard time, when my mother was ill. We had a beautiful meal there on the lake front- the view is stunning and the outside ambience of the restaurant is perfect- relaxed, not too crowded with tables and a nice green space for kids to play. We then had a family gathering after my mother had passed, in doors. The indoor decor is lovely- perfect for summer but I imagine also very cozy and warm in the winter with fireplaces and blankets. The staff are fantastic- very accommodating and friendly. We had Dawn serving us, who was so empathetic of our family loss. We were checked on regularly for extra drinks and to make sure we had everything we needed. We had to change our orders for some of the kids and the additional dishes were brought quickly with no hustle. The food is very good quality and clearly made using fresh ingredients. The lasagna is perfect- one of the best I’ve tasted. Highly recommend this place!

This is a super place, not a pub but more like an exclusive restaurant with good old fashioned service and with a bonus….. the staff actually smile at you ! There is a full bar area but I feel most would come here to eat too. The menu is extensive and there are many excellent dishes created by the in house chef. Personally I was surprised by the level of service from the lady who appeared to be one of the senior staff, she anticipated all our questions and suggested perfect food and wines to suit our tastes. It was October and nice weather and so we sat outside and the view across the lake was stunning. I felt as though I had been whisked away to Switzerland or Austria. It was so outstanding we have booked again for Christmas lunch. I couldn’t fault this experience. Very special. Well done Kingfisher.

Such a quirky place to eat!!The decor and art work makes you feel like your in the heart of London without having to trek down there! Even the toilets had a cool decor, it felt like I was abroad for a spilt second! Hats off to whoever designed this place! Food was delicious , though the the portion could be a little bigger. I ordered fish and chips and my fish felt very thin. Though it was delicious in taste. I was also very pleased with the quality of the kids meal for my son, they actually make effort for the kids which I find rather rare these days. Vibe was so chilled and staff were friendly too. The only reason I haven’t give it 5 stars is due to the fact that staff can get a little too relaxed and so I found myself having to get my own menu , ask for cutlery for my meal, and keep getting up to ask staff for smalls things like Mayo. But it wasn’t too much of a bother , once I approached staff they were helpful .

Staff are great, location is great. Food was a bit of a let down to be honest. In particular the parmesan chips which were terrible. I tried to message them about it before leaving this review but unfortunately they ignored my message. Avoid the chips.

A disappointing visit this time. After I'd taken a mouthful of steak I was told it wasn't actually my meal. However, as the other person's steak had a sauce with it I decided to keep the steak even though it wasn't rare (as previously requested). It wasn't particularly tender either. Also the presentation wasn't as expected. Previously the 'frites' were served in a small bucket, my chips on this occasion were just put on the plate with some greenery. Not very enticing to the eye.

The staff were outstanding and helpful at every turn! Specifically; accomodating of our requests, patient and understanding when we made a mistake, quick to assist us and frankly too apologetic for non-issues! Food portions were small for the price but that is to be expected of a place like this and we were not disappointed. View of the lake was great especially with the sunset and moon rising afterwards! Beautiful and great experience overall <3

My partner and I visited on Wednesday and had a lovely meal and we were met by Wendy who is a gem, she is very friendly and she knows her job inside out, we have met her before over the past 2 years and she is always the same, very smiling and nothing is too much for her. We were looked after by Ed, and a what a delightful young man very polite and again helpful, when we return from France 🇫🇷 we will be back. Food is always very good and the choice of menu is good. The surrounds are perfect.
