What an unwelcoming, miserable place. We stopped en route to Berwick but it was so grim looking we had a change of heart before even getting out the car and drove off. Later that day on the way home we were desperate for a cup of tea and having read the reviews which said it's not as bad as it looks, we decided to give the place a try. We arrived at 3.35pm having checked the website and Google for opening times. Both said open until 5pm. We walked into the shop, not a soul to be seen but voices from the back could be heard. We coughed , said hello a couple of times but no one came out. We walked through to the next room adjacent to the door into the tearoom. All in darkness. But I spotted a lady through the window of the door into the kitchen and she spotted me but didn't move. She was too busy talking to her colleague. She looked at me 3 times before finally coming out and when I asked if we could get a cup of tea she said they'd stopped serving at 3.30pm. It was 3.40 at this point. All we wanted was a cuppa. Appalling service, not a smile or an apology in sight. And no information online with café opening times. Businesses like this don't deserve to be in business.

What an amazing place , doesn't look much from outside, but ignore that. Small menu, but what they offer is brilliant. Took my mum and dad as they were driving me around at the minute due to a broken wrist. We all had the Oxford soup lunch Soup and half a baguette Fruit or cheese scone Homemade meringue with cream Caramel shortbread Tea or coffee . All for £8.95.

We popped here for some PYO strawberries. Fantastic price and the strawberries were lovely. We all stopped for coffee & cake at the wee cafe afterwards. There isn't a massive choice on the menu but plenty for a wee afternoon snack. In our party we had meringues, scones, chocolate crispy cake and lemon drizzle cake. All said they were lovely! We also bought their own meringues and some biscuits from the shop to. Lovely little place and hopefully we'll be back for pumpkins in the autumn!

Called in today for lunch, looking forward to a home cooked mince and dumpling and apple crumble and custard or similar as we have had quite a few times on our annual trips to Berwick. We have previously given this place 5 stars despite the dilapidated appearance and calling itself a farm shop when in reality they only sell jam and meringues as we have enjoyed good hearty food at reasonable prices. Not to be today though as we were told they no longer serve hot food. So after looking forward to a hot lunch a scone was not really going to tempt us to stay, we up and left for pastures new.

To advertise this place on the A1 as a ‘farm shop’ is misleading; when I arrived, I wondered whether I was in the right place. The ‘farm shop’ seemed to comprise of a small, untidy side room near the entrance with a fridge full of biscuits and meringue cases (why in a fridge?) and a couple of shelves with jams and chutneys. There was nothing on sale that you would normally associate with a farm shop, such as fruit and vegetables, hams, cheeses, eggs, deli products and bakery goods. The whole place had an air of neglect about it, with a car park full of weeds and rusting caravans. I didn’t bother with the cafe, which I suppose might have been the redeeming feature, because I could see no other reason why anyone would want to visit this place.

A super cafe, with delicious & very reasonably priced food. Yes, the menu is limited but this is more than made up for by the excellent quality - and quantity - in each "menu option". We opted for the menu choice of lentil soup & crusty bread, followed by a choice of scones; and finished with meringues & cream, plus a wee millionaire's shortbread. This all comes with the choice of tea or coffee. Our tea came in a proper china pot, with a jug of milk and a pot of hot water alongside. The soup was superb (pun intended & fully warranted) and the home-made scones & cakes were first class. Our cheese scone and fruit scone were freshly baked & perfect! The similarly perfect meringues are made there, and can be purchased in the shop The service from the cheery lady who also works in the small shop, was excellent. Unbelievably this entire feast cost well under £9 each. (After our lunch we bought the farm's home-made raspberry jam and one of their chutneys.) The café itself is small with an old-fashioned feel, but it's delightful. There were customers of all ages while we were there, from babies to pensioners. Locals obviously love it. Parking on the premises is easy & free. What a find! We'll return when we"re again in this area. Recommended!

On the A1? Tired? The Oxford Farm shop is a proper job - not stuffed with trinkets but loads of jams/chutneys and the best meringues ever! There's a great view from the conservatory as you wok your way through soup with bread, fruit or a cheese scone, a meringue and cream and caramel shortbread and with one of the best pots of tea I've ever had outside of home. Not fancy, but clean and honest.

We decided to stop here for lunch and to browse the farm shop, after seeing the brown tourist sign on the A1, but we were very disappointed. The “farm shop” may technically be labelled as such because it sells some items on a farm, but in reality this isn’t a farm shop when compared to other examples such as Chatsworth farm shop. Apart from fresh raspberries, a small assortment of jams, and some biscuits and pavlova there really wasn’t anything here. The venue was dark, uninviting and in need of a refurbishment. We didn’t stay to eat at the team room due to the overall impression from inside the shop - we didn’t want to take a chance! How this establishment got a brown tourist sign I don’t know. I wouldn’t recommend a visit.

Well my first visit to this "farm shop'. People who give it 5 stars clearly are easily impressed by a mediocre experience. The tea room itself was cold and uninviting but I had stopped by the shop to buy local produce. Well useful if you like some home baking and jam etc but little else. Compared to the premier farm shops on the A66 this was disappointing. A revamp and some imagination in marketing could turn this into a little gem as North Northumberland could use a decent farm shop ideally placed by the A1.

We expecting better after seeing the brown tourist signs on the A1, however as soon as we entered the premises it felt like you were dropping in unexpectedly on your ageing grandparents. Decor reminiscent of the 70s (badly painted over peeling wallpaper) ingrained stained tables and the most basic of menus. The coffee was of the cheap instant variety (probably Aldi or something) and you could have it either white or black. It tasted so awful, water would have been a better option. The farm shop wasn't much better with very little choice, so unlike a normal farm shop. Avoid.

It isn’t a farm shop, it’s tired, run-down, a bit scruffy, and not appealing from the outside...BUT, if you’d like some reasonably priced, homely food, albeit in a slightly tired location, visit. You won’t be disappointed. The food is lovely, excellent tea and coffee, lovely scones, and the food coming out of the kitchen looked really nice. It’s not expensive, but don’t be put off too much, it’s like going round for tea at a friend’s house, good, honest food. Yes, it could be decorated, yes, it could stock a full range of artisan cheeses, meats and deli items, and yes it could be made to look swanky...but maybe, just maybe, the owners don’t want that, and just want to serve good, honest food at reasonable prices. Eg. Scone, lemon cake and a drink for £3.95.

We visited the tea room for lunch last Sunday, wish we hadn’t bothered! First impressions - The place is filthy and in desperate need of refurbishment. The floor was disgusting, the walls covered in thick cobwebs, the bathroom was revolting, still had the dirty potty as mentioned in a previous review and a baby changing mat on the grubby floor. This has become a regular lunch spot on our annual visit to Berwick. You need to see past the shabby untidy exterior and inside could do with updating but the tables are kept spotlessly clean. This place serves delicious homemade fare, large portions at very reasonable prices. We had mince and dumplings with mash and 2 veg and jam sponge pudding with custard and coffee and roast beef sandwiches served with side salad and chutney followed by a fruit scone with homemade jam and a large pot of tea for £14.00. The food was freshly made and very tasty and the waitress service was friendly and quick. The small farm shop sells a good selection of jams, cakes, biscuits and meringues but not on your usual farm shop scale. Perhaps it does not warrant the large brown tourist sign on the A1 but please give it a try.

Nevertheless what remained available was excellent both in quantity and quality. First visit was for Sunday dinner, the door sported a 'Full up' notice but luckily we had booked beforehand. The 3 course dinner was well cooked, well presented, and well filling! Unfortunately the reasonableness of the meal was offset by the amount my wife spent in the farm shop (still reasonable prices but that doesn't matter when you leave with enough shortbread to justify a low-loader!).Second visit was for the soup and scone lunch midweek. Wanted somewhere for a quick cake and a cuppa and saw the signs for this place. Once we walked you could smell the home made chutneys been made in the back. Place is a bit tired, could do with a freshen up. All staff really polite and quickly looked after us. I had a cheese scone and my partner had a fruits scone both really tasty and plenty of tea with extra boiling water. Bargain price too. Would recommend ...

We only stopped for tea and scones and almost changed our minds as the exterior doesn't impress. The adjacent car park/aged caravan resting place also fails the ambience test. BUT, once inside we found friendly and efficient service, very generous pots of tea with extra boiling water supplied without need to ask and lovely big fruit scones. The jam was delicious and very fruity. The menu shows a range of what seems other great value combinations. Toilet facilities reduced to only the disabled one but it was clean and functional. We'd go back!

I only stopped for a cup of tea whilst at work, so can't comment on the food, tea was nice, hot, lovely clean cup and table. However the chintzy old fashioned style would have put me off stopping longer, it needs a kick into this century, the setting is lovely, and easy access just off the A1.

Good value three course lunch with various choices. Not great surroundings and much as others have said it could do with a bit of paint here and there. However the food was super and the sweets particularly big portions. The staff were friendly and efficient.

We have been going to Oxford Farm tea rooms for years and have introduced many friends too. It is a great end to an afternoon following a walk on nearby beaches and countryside. Oxford tea is especially recommended and the family and staff there are very friendly.

a missed opportunity here. Could be lovely but unfortunately it's dated, a bit dirty and frankly, an eyesore. I didn't want to eat much - just as well, as little choice for vegetarians. Service was a little dour. There is so much local produce they could sell. And it needs a complete overhaul. The outside is appalling. Weeds and rubbish. I am amazed they are still trading to be honest.

During my latest visit to Berwick-Upon-Tweed, I had a very tasty meal at the Oxford Farm Shop and Tea Room; this was my second visit. Yes, I agree that the car park is an absolute eyesore; however, in my opinion, the food and value for money more than compensate for the lack of ambiance. The portions are extremely generous; after recently lunching on a very filling bowl of soup, scone, and large pot of tea, I could eat no more and asked for a slice of cake wrapped "to go". The service I received was friendly and efficient; the price was very reasonable. Just as a book shouldn't be judged by its cover, so shouldn't this tearoom be judged by the scenery!

I've given this two points because we didn't actually eat anything, so I guess there should be some room for doubt. The car park is a sump-smashing wilderness surrounded by caravans. As we approached the buildings we got a cryptic warning from some other retreating potential customers. Undeterred we advanced through the dog dirt towards the entrance (well, it's a farm we thought). Inside there was nobody to greet us, just a few other customers who looked like they had made a mistake. There were staff audible in another room; they appeared to be having a jolly time. We seated in the crumby conservatory, trying to ignore the gross stains on the carpet and the neglected debris beyond the windows. We opened a menu, but the dead earwig in its poly sleeve gave us a clue. Fortunately the staff were too engaged with themselves to notice us so we made a retreat. Careful driving from the car park left our car's underside intact.

We drove down here one afternoon in search of the card making supplies we thought they stocked - sadly they no longer stocked them but ant disappointment quickly disappeared as we tucked into a scone and lemon drizzle cake (both home made and delicious!) with our afternoon cup of tea (at a price that would normally not have bought a piece of cake). On discovering they did Sunday lunches we booked in for the following Sunday. The lunch was excellent, home cooked, large portions and hot food served piping hot. The service was friendly and efficient.

We were on holiday and visiting Berwick on Tweed. On the way back we saw the misleading signs for 'farm shop and tea room'. Nothing of the sort - grubby conservatory with no food for sale. We asked for a drink and as we had the dog, could we drink outside. We were told no, the cups cost £6.50 each and we might break them so no, we could not drink outside. Could we take the dog inside 'no the other people would complain' we were told. There were no other people to be seen - so the attitude was very unhelpful and very unfriendly. Very disappointed and the sign on the road very misleading. We will not be visiting again.

We stopped by chance at The Percy Arms for a drink and ended up eating an amazing meal-Wednesday afternoon and very quiet but the food was delicious and the service excellent. The soup was very tasty and the steak cooked to perfection - we will return!

I’m so sad to see this lovely place closed. It had great staff and atmosphere and a fantastically good smoked haddock chowder. I wish its people all the best and I thank them for all the great visits we’ve had here. I really hope that there might be a replacement cafe of such quality. We’ll watch with interest.

Our introduction to this country pub was to a spacious, comfortable, immaculately clean bedroom, with stunning views of the fells. Next dinner and cooking of Michelin quality. A highlight was the scallop with belly pork, a brilliant dish. Next morning breakfast, again flawless in every respect from the service to the produce. Any prospective dining pub owner/chef should come here to see how it's done.

Generous portions of tasty pub food and some excellent local cask beer. The warmest of welcomes for me and Razzie the border terrier and a special shout out to Adele for looking after me so well!
