All four family members fancied a carvery but when we arrived at 7pm to see hardly any meats left, we asked the chef was there any more meats coming out if not we will order something from the menu instead, he replied no & threw away what was left of the turkey & said there were only kids meals available on the menu! At this point we left without even having a drink & went for our carvery elsewhere, shame really because we do like it here.

Have been to this pub many times as it is local and great for the kids but the last couple of times have been a disaster. Visited with several friends and kids after school, and ordered a lot of food and drinks. My drinks never arrived, had to chase and finally got them 50 minutes after ordering. My friend ordered ice cream which never arrived and she was told they had no record of her order so she couldn’t have them, she had to show her bank statement to prove she ordered them. My ice creams took an hour to come out and were not what we ordered. Visited again with my daughter, ordered her meal and a carvery bap. Previously carvery baps have been brought out as a normal meal. Nothing came out, after an hour I asked at the bar and was told I should have been given a carvery ticket for the bap, nope, wasn’t given one or told the procedure is now different. Bar told me to ask at the carvery and I don’t need a ticket…queued for 30 minutes in the huge carvery queue to speak to someone, and surprise of course, no ticket no, no food. Went back to the bar, back to the carvery…1.5 hours to get a bloody bap with a bit of turkey and they didn’t even add the potatoes I ordered. Won’t be returning any time soon.

We did not book in advance, and called in on Sunday 7th July hoping for a table for 6. We found a table, but the restaurant was heaving. Queues very long at both the bar and carvery. It seemed to take forever to purchase a round of drinks and tickets for the carvery. The whole place was packed , and the queue at the carvery vey long. Three of us managed to have our choice of meat & vegetables, but the rest of us never did have a Yorkshire pudding. We were told they would be 8 minutes, then it changed to 15 minutes. The carver of the meat (a very hot & thankless task I'm sure) was not bothered, he slammed plates around, and slopped meat across the servery surface instead of placing it directly onto the plate. The carrots were rock hard, other vegetables stewed, and no new potatoes or gravy. The servery area, both in front and behind needed a good wipe down, to clear spillages and slops. We were very disappointed. The only thing in it's favour was that we got fed, and hadn't had to cook ourselves.

Carvery has always been spot on since I was a kid There was a waitress called Lynette who was beyond helpful and constantly making sure we was all seated well nd comfortable definitely giving the 5 stars based on the fact the waitress treated me and the family like this Will definitely be coming back if she’s there!

We come once a month ,I meet up with my 2 friends look forward to the carvery. Had good food on previous occasions. Today was not a good one, my friend had gammon it was so fatty could not eat it. Left it My other friend had the beef it was hard and very thick not enjoyable had to leave the meat. My beef was hard also and thick .had to leave some of it, I found the roast potatoes hard and dry as if they were left overs and put in microwave . Not a good meal today. At least the yorkshires were good.

Overstone Manor has been a regular place to visit with family and friends for many years. This was our first visit since the new management and what a refreshing difference. Happy staff, courteous and accomodating and the food was lovely. Thank you and keep up the good work.

Downhill a long way since previous visit. Over 40 minutes for starters when absolutely nobody else was eating. No communication from staff. Carbonated drinks not carbonated. Mains still not arrived an hour after ordering. Sort it put. Absolutely shocking!!

This is my favourite go to place, never had a bad meal although I do go for the carvery every time. I’ve been there 4 times so far this year and I will be going for lunch again with a few friends this coming Thurs for a friends birthday table booked for 12.30 and again the next day Friday with a catch up with a friend and table booked as it’s Good Friday. Cannot fault it and the staff are always pleasant. Well done everyone and look forward to seeing you soon.

I have visited this pub multiple times over the past few years, myself and family were really unhappy with the quality of food this time! Firstly, we were a big party and would’ve been nice to have had table service instead of waiting at the bar 10 minutes to be served with one member of staff taking orders. We were a party of 11 and half of us ordered a carvery, which was very disappointing! Once we got to the carvery the manager was serving which seemed like she had never cut meet before. No gloves or apron on at all and her keys dangling from her neck and over the food when she lent forward. We then got told that the only meet left was gamon and there is no more turkey or beef when we paid for a carvery we was not made aware of this. The roast potatoes were sat in a dish on the side and were so dry , looked like they had been there for hours and hours. The vegetables too. Slight bit of gravy leftover and no one offered to re fill. If they dont want to offer a good standard carvery on a weekday , dont offer one!!!! The bar service was awful no apology or anything for the way the carvery was. Never again.

This is our fourth visit in three years. The reason being we have never had a good experience. The first time it took an hour to receive our order. The second time they did not serve us for twenty minuits at the bar then again after an hour had to catch one of the servers as the wait at the bar was rediculous. The third time They bought the order out that had obviously been left under heat lights. Sent it back and said we wanted our mony back as we were leaving. After ANOTHER HALF AN HOUR got our money back with not much of an appoligy. THIS last time gave it another go while visiting Northampton. WHAT A MISTAKE !!!!. Walked to the bar to order our drinks and to order two Carveries. One serving at the bar. Two people in front of us waiting to be served. We finally got served after 14 minuits. THe server didnt know where the wine we wanted was and left to find someone who did which was ANOTHER five minuits. Then we ordered a small and medium carvery. WE then sat at our table to have a glass of wine before we went to the carvery. WE looked at our carvery tickets. One was a LARGE THE OTHER WAS A MEDIUM !!!.. NOT what we had ordered. We decided NOT to go up to the bar to change it as after the time we had got served l counted the people standing behind us and there were 9 people. NO WAY WE WERE STANDING IN THAT LINE AGAIN. SO we get our carveries which was not a good amount of meat to start with. Loaded our veg and sat down to eat. IMEDIATLY WE LOOKED AT EACH OTHER AND SAID TO ONE ANOTHER THE VEG IS LUKE WARM. HORRIBLE !!!!. SO Took our plates back to the carvery. NO ONE THERE !!!!! So stood there waiting around 3 or 4 minuits. I put my plate down on the counter and was going to shout into the kitchen door for service. I then called over to a server who had seen us standing there but never said they would get us served and was going to walk away but l asked them to get someone to serve us. EVENTUALLY the server who had originally served us came out. WE told them the food was not hot. They then said they would sort it out. IT was then microwaved which isnt good when you have a roast dinner. Roast potatoes parsnips and yorkshire pudding are not microwave friendly are they. YOU WOULD HAVE THOUGHT.A COOK /CHEF KNEW THAT !!!! It was Bloody horrible after being microwaved. WE left without talking to a manager as it would be a complete waste of our time and we were not prepared to take up any more of our time at this place. I then complained via the green king customer care site. AGAIN !!!! a complete wast of time. It has been three weeks later without a reply or responce. They obviously dont give a flyin flunk anymore. SUCH A SHAME AS ITS IN A SUPER PLACE AND THE BUILDING AND GROUNDS ARE LOVELY. THE SERVICE ON THE OTHER HAND IS AWFUL !!!!. We use a lot of GREEN KINGS BRANDS all around the country and without doubt this place is persistently the worst of all of them.WE WONT BE TRYING THIS AWFUL PLACE AGAIN !!!!. If its the same manager which l doubt but if they are HOW THE HELL ARE THEY STILL IN A JOB. The managers need to up their game as well as the managers above them need too.

A later visit this week…waited a lot longer to be served as it didn’t seem aim many staff were available, but having said that, everything else was great, as always! Staff here are superb; friendly, helpful and polite. Nothing is too much trouble. The lunch was probably the best I’ve had here in a while. Well seasoned today, great choice and very tasty. Not keen on the Yorkshires to be honest (never have been), the cauliflower cheese was just full of watery liquid, broccoli empty and the sauces were empty at the end of the servery but really enjoyed our meal. Roasties were excellent and mash was superb! Red cabbage over sweetened I’m afraid. Please take feedback in the spirit it’s given. See you again soon.

Visited with friends on a Monday evening - booked a table online and was a bit surprised that we couldn’t get in before 20.15 - anyhow got their early to find that the duty manager had kept the carvery open for us !! The food was gorgeous and considering we were the last customers there were plenty of vegetables and a choice of meats and they were all fresh and tasty. Well done to the manager, cooks and staff for being so accommodating and looking after us! We’ll be back again….

The three of us went for a carvery meal Sunday 25th Feb around 4.00pm. Nice and relaxing atmosphere the meal was excellent. On a minor point we did think the veg on the carvery counter could have been kept a tad hotter. However if no-one else raised that issue that day may it was just us! The meal was still enjoyable though. I'm still grading the visit overall as 'Excellent' as on all the previous occasions we've been here recently everything has been spot on. And this is the first time on Trip Advisor that I've done a review for the Overstone Manor. So on balance it was excellent and good value too.

Very very poor all round. WILL NOT BE GOING BACK. We entered and waited over 5 mins to be greeted, they had not read my comments on my booking about having a guest with crutches and needing a table with chairs and room around it,and tried to sit us in a booth. The service at the till was very very slow then they forgot one of our starters so the rest of us had finished before they had even received there's. We then went to the carvery which I was really looking forward to, when I got there it was like leftovers and they still had 90 minutes serving time. No gammon, no carrots few scraps of burnt parsnips, no new potato's, nice new joint of beef did look delicious but was cold. Lumpy bottom of the bowl gravey. Very substandard, Very poor waitress service also as, I was still eating when not only did she start to clear the table but reached across my dinner to get to one of the plates, I was fuming, absolutely disgusting. We then ordered puddings, heavens knows why we bothered, 35 minutes later and they still had not arrived we asked a waitress and was told kitchen was closed,where we advised they had been ordered 35 mins prior, we had to ask again how much longer and if they was not ready we wanted them cancelled Another 17 minutes later they finally arrived the journey home was quicker than the arrival of puddings and we was not local to the area. The poor service did not even stop there we went to the bar to pay, a young lad filling up the beer fridge used the F*** word, admittedly he did not realise we was there lucky we did not have any children with us.I advised I had a blue light card offered the code but server did not take when we checked the bill discount had not been taken off, went back to the bar where I was informed they would have to refund me which can take 5/7 days to return to my account, but I would have to pay again to get my discount hounered. Although the manageress did take some drinks off the bill for the very poor evening we had had enough by this time and it was to little to late. My advice to anyone thinking of going here STAY CLEAR, worst food and service I have had in a very very long time and I am someone who eats out regularly at many many diffrent restaurants.

Absolutely amazing meal and service by all the staff we encountered this Saturday night and they were great with the kids. The food was hot and very tasty and not one complaint from anyone. We had carvery and 2 of the party had meals off the main menu and all was good.

Having paid several visits before today, I was extremely disappointed in the poor service and standard of the meal. (Beef burger with chips and two onion rings). The lettuce leaf was not fresh, meat raw n the middle, and mediocre chips. Given the length of the queue at the carvery I can only assume there is a shortage of staff.

I didn’t even make it to the pub!! I booked for a large group (which they advertise on their website for function rooms and state they can accommodate) for my 30th birthday. This was also explained in the comments. I also wrote to them on Facebook (I had no reply in 3 weeks). It said that someone would review the booking up to 48hrs……..2 weeks later I had an email coming through saying “welcome!” So I thought maybe it must be booked? I’ll give them a call! The lady was extremely unhelpful and unable to give me an answer after being on the phone for 10mins - she asked for my number and said she would ask another member of staff and call me back……NOTHING! This was 10 days prior to the event…. Then 6 days prior to the event I have an email saying my request was rejected 👌👌 thank you for making my 30th celebrations extremely stressful and for being incredibly unhelpful for the process. Can’t comment on the food or the place however I can definitely say I will not even attempt to try and I would recommend any large parties avoiding using their service as they will just mess you around and cancel last minute.

Visited this pub on the off chance as I was in the area with friends, lovely friendly pub, great atmosphere with hardworking staff. One barmaid/waitress in particular - Kiran worked her socks off. So pleasant and professional real credit to the team.

Thoroughly enjoyed my recent visit, definitely not your average green king pub. Had Sunday roast which was great with all the trimmings, on arrival I met the host Simon who was attentive and welcoming. Was all very relaxed and friendly so will definitely be back and would recommend to all.

Lovely evening here for our Dads 78th birthday. We all enjoyed the food and surprise blueberry muffin with candles for Dad. He loved it! Special thanks to Kelly and Elenor for making our visit so enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back.

Stopped off here for a bit of food and a few drinks, class service by the staff. Food was great and staff were very welcoming and friendly. Great place with great facilities. Kids had a great time in the play area indoors too which meant you can even go with the family and enjoy some peace and quiet! 👊🏼

It took 4 hours to complete the meal with a 1 hour wait for both starter and desserts. The food quality was worse than usual, and various items were not as described, such as custard being served with Christmas pudding instead of the advertised brandy...

Your carvery never disappoints! Great service. This place is the one to go for family reunions, birthdays, weddings. Fantastic function rooms with so much history in it. Definitely worth going there and trying for yourself
