Good but many things not priced so nightmare when at till waiting for people to go check prices, some items show price but till charges different price, customer service desk is by tills but the till operator will only attend when everyone has been served ,fine but if you have been over charged you dont want to wait 10,12 mins until others are served as you have spent you money and a till mistake makes you wait ! Food, cakes veggies excellent variety.

Sorry for having to leave this review which is hoped to be well received. The whole Emporium is a delight to visit with high end quality goods, food and homewares. However there is a distinct lack of disabled shopping trolleys to clip onto wheelchairs, and I find myself laden with goods in a basket which becomes unstable. The food section is great with a fantastic range of fresh produce and butchery section. A fantastic cafe with delightful cakes and pastries. We so look forward to our regular visits, which also has an affordable clothing selection for ladies.

Waited 45 min on a Monday. There was lots of empty tables available. Service was extremely awkward and staff need a little bit of coaching on how to speak to people if you want to have the name you do. I hadn’t been in 5 years and definitely won’t be back for another 5. Menu was dull and food was dull. Not how I remembered. Only giving an extra star because my friends omelette wasn’t bad. Went to pay and staff had to clear plates before I could pay, yet we were sat there with the cash. The cake in the deli was dry as dry. Just not a good experience and don’t understand all the great reviews as there are so many better places for a lot less money and waiting around.

Really disappointed with the afternoon tea, the quality has declined since my last visit. We were seated on a tiny table to then be presented with very precarious stands which proceeded to collapse and I spent the entire time worried someone would walk past and catch their coat or bag on it! The table was far too cramped and small for the service. The quality of the food was much lower than previous visit. Sandwich fillings were sparse and bland with the bread having gone a little stale, and an awful mini lemon cake that I couldn’t eat. It was far too dry and sickly sweet with no tangy lemon flavour! I don’t think I’d bother again. It used to be a special occasion going to Beckworths for afternoon tea, but it feels as if they expanded to make more money; squeezing in tables and lowering the quality of the food. Such a shame we’ve lost what was a little local gem!

We went to the Emporium, which is very impressive, for afternoon tea. The large restaurant is comfortable and the service excellent. The afternoon tea was flawed. the sandwiches were all white bread and sliced too thickly. the cakes looked appetising and we took some home. Stunning place, Luxury Garden Centre if ever there was one. Plants indoor & outdoor, beautiful gifts, clothes etc. The restaurant is Great (No Bookings allowed, walk-ins only.) However, you get a buzzer to let you know when a table is free, so you can wander around the place, as it’s almost always full. No wonder, the food is delicious & plenty of it. Good choices too (I’m vegetarian) No room for cake sadly, however, on your way out, you go through the food hall/market. Fresh fruit & veg, with cakes & treats to take away. This place is well worth it. Staff are so friendly & a real credit to them. Well done Beckworth, well done ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon, if you time it right and the rest of the surrounding villages haven’t made the same choice. We got lucky with our visit and were seated straight away, whilst I don’t think how busy a place is, is their problem, they do need to work on a possible booking system. Food and refreshments were lovely as always, venue itself is clean & tidy and staff are friendly. Prices are a little steep for what you get, but worth it as an occasional treat.

We're mostly just interested in the farm shop, I could blow hundreds in there with ease, the produce they have on offer is good and they stock unusual things which are fun to try. If you visit, I recommend getting a sausage roll or two from the deli counter, they're something like £4 a pop, but they're easily worth it.

Clean tables, well mannered staff and good service. Food wasn’t so great. We had the Beef Bourguingnon which was incredibly salty and the French Beans greatly overcooked. The chef did oblige in swapping out the mash for new potatoes. One of us had the chicken burger without the bun and felt the chicken was bland so all in all not great food but great service. Worth knowing that this is no longer a private business but part of the Blue Diamond group and has been, in my opinion, over extended and spoiled. Even the shop stock is no longer special or different.

Didn't even make it into the restaurant as we were told it would be a 75 min wait so gave up and went home. When money has already been spent on a voucher (afternoon tea for 3) it's really disappointing that there's no way of booking in advance. Total waste of time and an hours drive for nothing. The response I got from staff was "come midweek" ..well obviously we would if we could.

It's a little hard to review as it's a destination of three quite different parts, so ive broken it down then averaged across the three. 1. Food Hall - This has a good selection of good quality independent food and drink. Can't really fault it. 5* 2. Garden Centre - as a garden centre its a bit meh, it's not the best but it's okay-ish. 2+* 3. Cafe/Restaurant - Quite a frustrating place, if you get there when its not too busy and when they have stocked up its pretty decent, the food is okay, a solid 4* I'd say. Often there's a queue for 45+ minutes just to get a table (no idea why, its decent for a garden centre but we aren't talking a fine Italian restaurant here). For me running out of menu items is their biggest issue and its not related to arriving after busy hours, you can go pre-rush on a mid-week morning, and they've still run out of your first three options! If you have a somewhat limited diet (i.e. don't eat meat, etc) then those three options are quite probably your only options, you are perilously close to being forced to drop into the dreaded cant-cook-wont-cook jacket potato menu section. If I see a queue know I just jump in my car and nip over the road to Manvell Tea Room who never disappoint. So, could be decent if the stock was managed better, but it isn't so a frustrating 2*

The place it self is interesting. We had a nice lunch and everyone is very friendly. Now for the two stars , we bought three slices of Victoria sponge cake £10 to take home from the fresh cake stall, so not cheap. It was the worst dryest cake I have ever had. Stale dry and the supposed butter cream tasted of the worst synthetic goo . Never again. It’s a shame because it’s a nice place.

I used to love going there. Food was good and a nice environment to eat. However, I believe it's now in the hands of a group. The food was poor and it wasn't reflected in the over inflated prices. I ordered a panini which looked like it had been sat on. I ventured around the outdoor garden area and the condition of the plants was bad. Pots and plants lying in the walkways and no obvious attention given to the health of the plants. The second star was only given because the staff are pleasant.

Disappointing lunch at Beckworth with my friend today. (31st December). Turkey dinner was not available, so I had the cheese and ham quiche. The ham was inedible, tough, grey and with an unpleasant taste. I had to pick it out. The potatoes were also quite unpleasant tasting. The quiche was dry and there was only a tiny amount of dressing on the salad. The lady who served us was nothing short of miserable, bordering on rude. She ignored us initially, taking orders from the neighbouring table who were seated after us. When we asked to order, she turned and just stared at us. We gave the order. My friend asked for no salad dressing. I saw she had written ‘no salad’ on her order pad, so pointed this out. The look she gave me could make hell freeze over. Still she said nothing. After the meal, we asked for the bill, again to be greeted with silence. The bill never came, so we went to the desk to ask to pay. I told the person seating people how unpleasant and unhelpful the server had been and she apologised. This is not my usual experience of Beckworth and is extremely disappointing. I won’t be going back in a hurry. With hindsight, I wish I hadn’t have paid.

Must be one of the best garden centres for many a mile, always a pleasure and doesn’t disappoint. It has a large food hall with loads of wonderful bits and pieces , a showpiece very large glasshouse restaurant which serves a superb range of things to eat and drink from an extensive menu- difficult to choose but it’s all very yummy. Has a large outdoor garden section, inside is a sizeable range of home bits, gifts and toiletries etc , one thing that is more minimalist is indoor plants- this is something they are not hot on . Considering it’s out of the way , it seems very popular, has a following which is easy to see why. Along with a large free car park makes for a lovely trip out.

What a disappointment the winter garden cafe was today. We only wanted coffee and cake so made the decision to go here rather than the restaurant, big mistake. We asked for a plate for our cake but was informed that as it was only a "take away"" we needed to use a cardboard box and our coffee was to be served in paper cups. They have tables and chairs so don't understand that statement!! We wished we'd waited at the main restaurant and received cups and plates. It felt as if this was just a money making exercise. Some people were having afternoon tea, which again was served in cardboard boxes, although the tea pot etc appeared to be pottery. We personally will never use that facility again, and would advise others not to use it either. Would rather wait for the restaurant. Beckworth used to be one of our favourite places but not sure that it will be in future.

I have been a regular visitor to Beckworth for many years and I have always found it fabulous. However the last few times I have found it no where near as good. The last 2 times there have been many empty tables yet a member of staff has been stood there with the buzzer and a list to add your name and both times a 45 minute wait! Today I arrived at 10.55am yet they couldn’t accommodate myself and a friend for 45 minutes even though like I said there were many empty tables. I asked why and apparently there was a lead time in the kitchen of 45 minutes . I explained this never used to be the case. The woman said yes it has I’ve been here 10 years! In fact it never was like this in the past, it used to be much more efficient with all the tables filled. You can’t book either. In my opinion the buzzer is to get customers trailing around the shop hoping they will spend money. Not great for the elderly, disabled or people with babies and children. Beckworth is not the place it used to be and there’s plenty of amazing places I would visit before here in the future. Apart from the abrupt woman dishing out buzzers the staff were lovely.

Xmas Cream Tea - VERY disappointed! Some basics that you'd expect are just not there. You get a boxed set of sandwich fingers (which were drying on edges), miniature sponge and rock hard scone. All on a picnic table (which x4 boxes don't fit on) alongside a small teapot for 2 people to share (literally 1 cup each) - oh and milk is apparently self serve as after waiting we went to ask and were told - "there's milk on the side, I'll get you a jug". Honestly - you'd be better get the £8 take away cream tea and not getting robbed with the £20.95 Xmas Cream Tea.
