Went for afternoon tea with my wife, we had a lovely time the staff were friendly as always and there was the usual array of fresh fruit and veg, breads and sweet treats. The problem is ( as others have mentioned) the food in the restaurant both quality and presentation isn’t quite what it used to be before the takeover. Additionally, the toilets were a bit shabby in terms of tidiness and hygiene (something that would not of been the case previously). Hope it’s just teething issues, for the restaurant which will be addressed, it’s one of the main draws to the site and the new menu does not seem to be impressing thus far.

Went on a Saturday morning on a bank holiday weekend and was pleasantly surprised how quickly we got seated. The waitress was very polite and took our drinks and food orders. The wait for drinks was pretty bad, our cooked breakfasts arrived before our drinks but I assume the breakfast is all cooked and just put to the plate so this is why it came quicker. When the food did arrive it looked appetising and was quite tasty but one thing that let it down was the temperature of the food. Most of it all was luke warm and butter for the toast was rock solid like it was straight out of the fridge and as the toast wasn't hot it wasn't spreadable. Out of the three eggs we received between the two orders two of them were riddled with egg shells which was not particularly pleasant. Overall I think the breakfast was okay but I have had a lot better locally so that's the reason for giving it only 3 stars, there is quite a lot of room to improve.

Nice array of goods at ridiculous prices....... £36 for a frozen ready meal, £4.10 for a loaf of bread. Don't get me wrong, I'm a chef by trade so I do know a thing or two. The butchery here is quality but again comes with the addition of the Beckworth mark up. On the flip side the restaurant is fairly priced and the food is really good, the service very good too. I'll definitely be returning and I highly recommend a visit. I then moved onto the Outdoor Furniture event. I was particularly interested in BBQ accessories. I had fingers crossed hoping that an establishment like this would stock in particular Kamado and Kamado style BBQ's and accessories. NOPE just the trendy fire pits, and Gas rubbish. When I spoke to the lady advising there she had never heard of Kamado or Kamado style!. However they do carry a nice range of lumpwood charcoal, that I will be purchasing when my Kamado has finished it current supply. UPDATED MAY 2023 KAMADO'S NOW STOCKED.

Not particularly impressed with the food side of things since the takeover. Issues a couple of weeks ago resulted in me receiving a £10 sorry voucher. Today the breakfast was ok but the bacon had obviously been cooked a while ago and the mushrooms were from a frozen packet. Why, when you are in a farm shop and can get fresh. I only went again to please my wife but no more!

My husband and I along with 2 of our friends visited this beautiful garden centre. The farm shop is amazing as are the gift and plant sections. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our main visit was for the glasshouse restaurant (please note that you cannot a reserve table). They have amazing choice of food and drink that includes afternoon tea. We were all very impressed by all the excellent waitress staff. They made us feel very welcome. Our main waitress Holly, she was professional, kind, friendly, sweet and had a great sense of humour. She was very respectful, personable and excellent at her job. The food was excellent and even though they were busy, our food and drinks arrived very quickly. Overall our experience exceeded our expectations and we'll all certainly be visiting again. I highly recommend this beautiful place. Although this is a high end garden centre and restaurant and the prices do reflect this.

I absolutely love Beckworth Emporium, either for a shopping trip or for a bite to eat. The food is always delicious, and the staff are very friendly and generally quick service. Personally, my daughter always finds the cafe here overwhelming as it's very noisy, but I've been with other children who have had no problem here! Highly recommend the afternoon tea, it's delicious and both times I've had it, have had to bring leftovers home with me in a little box! They do gift vouchers for afternoon tea which I love to give as gifts for friends/family. The shop is also beautiful, the produce is amazing and the rest, gifts, gardening or nick nacks... so much to look at and so many beautiful things. Generally a bit on the pricey side but great quality stuff!

We were treated like royalty from the start! What super service, staff very attentive throughout. It is a glorious venue; large, airy and busy, but one never feels hemmed in. Excellent menu choices, especially for veggies like us! The array of patisserie at the cake counter was awesome. Elaine served us and was really friendly, helpful and gave sound advice. A very chirpy person. She was easygoing re me needing to take my shoes off!! My 3cheese scone was delicious as was the chilli jam. A good deal for nearly £7, including a fab coffee(top class beans obviously &v smooth). My friend had jacket potato with home-made baked beans&cheese, which she really enjoyed. It was quite costly at £13+(!), but real quality food. What can one say about the gateaux?! My chocolate&raspberry Italian-style cake was to die for! It reminded me of the superb gateaux such as Opera which I ate when I lived in Paris! That is some recommendation, given the quality and reputation of French patisserie! We had a very relaxed hour there, with Elaine just checking we were OK and chatting amicably with us when she could. Afterwards we shopped and made the most of the 75% off on Xmas items. We did really well. I was very impressed by all the beautiful food in the shop and the quality of other items on sale. Staff at the till were extremely solicitous, given the amount of stuff we'd bought! Thanks everyone at Beckworth Emporium and particularly Elaine. We'll be back! Maggie and Marianne

Ordered chips and these were not as good as on previous occasions. Considering the cost of the food the experience I think is going slightly downhill. Clotted cream served in Rhoda's tubs and jam in little jars is not what you would expect as you can get these in any cafe. You expect something a little bit special at Beckworth. What a disappointment. We have been loyal customers of Beckworth for over 5 years, but that’s no longer the case. We visited Beckworth on 27 October and the customer service from staff in the restaurant was none existent. They had run out of the soup one of my party ordered (this happens) but a senior member of the restaurant staff called across to the table to ask, almost as an after thought, if we were aware. We weren’t and no apology was given, though the table next to us received not one but two apologies. The poor service continued, but I won’t prolong this text when my point has been made. The Beckworth burger also no longer comes with a brioche bun, so fans of that may miss the luxury the burger once had. We were so shocked by the restaurant service that we left a basket of goods we were planning to purchase behind. The food court is still fantastic, but seeing a member of staff crouch down behind the counter to check their phone isn’t quite the standard Beckworth once hand.

Instead of resolving this by covering the vegetarian sign up below it they are waiting for the new menu in a couple of weeks and relying on staff to remember to tell guests it’s not vegetarian…. Not a very clever idea… club sandwich chicken dry as a bone and bread so hard it shreds your gums! The Christmas market area looks “makeshift” and prices seem to be going up, somethings are way overpriced. Disappointing.

Lovely foodhall until you get home and realise you have bought dairy and bread over 2 weeks past the used by date

Price of afternoon tea significantly more. Used to be £25 for 2 people now it's £41.90 and fewer cakes and fewer sandwich choices, very disappointing, slow service.

Must be one of the best garden centres for many a mile, always a pleasure and doesn’t disappoint. It has a large food hall with loads of wonderful bits and pieces , a showpiece very large glasshouse restaurant which serves a superb range of things to eat and drink from an extensive menu- difficult to choose but it’s all very yummy. Has a large outdoor garden section, inside is a sizeable range of home bits, gifts and toiletries etc , one thing that is more minimalist is indoor plants- this is something they are not hot on . Considering it’s out of the way , it seems very popular, has a following which is easy to see why. Along with a large free car park makes for a lovely trip out.

Avoid 4pm as staff not really interested in dealing with you in the restaurant. Poor service and food quality is not good for the extortionate price of £14 for a burger.

Always a good day out. Did a little early Christmas shopping before enjoying an afternoon tea treat with a friend. Staff are polite and helpful. I would have given a 5* review if I hadn't noticed that the teapot lid and the jam pot were both badly chipped.

Quality personified. What isn’t there to love about Beckworth Emporium. A great restaurant that caters for all parts of the day, quality products throughout the store and fresh food counters galore for daily shopping. Special mention to the Delhi and cake counters, just awesome. If you’re in the area, fill your boots 😊
