Castello Lounge in Wellingborough

One surly and rude waitress ruined my visit today - after I’ve been telling people how nice, unusual and what great meals the Lounge at Wellingborough was. We waited at the bar to order and there seemed to be only one person serving. I get that. I was happy to wait. Then another lady came along to a ‘till’ just 4 feet away from us. I started to ask for something and was stopped by her. She raised her hand in a stopping motion and said, ‘ come here in front of my till’ I looked at my son , just arrived from Los Angeles for a family funeral, and we couldn’t understand why she was asking that. Dutifully we took two steps in front of her. Then she said ‘don’t shout over the bar and I won’t either. Then it will work out better for the both of us.’ The waitress didn’t smile. The next sentence ‘What do you want?’ In a flat and dismissive tone. Having just arrived, we’d not seen the menu. Anyway … let’s just say this ‘bad apple’ of a waitress let the side down. Visiting the town, I’ve been to the Lounge a few times and had nice coffees, brilliant breakfast and nice lunches. The other staff are more than helpful. This just shows how one person can ruin the reputation of a very good place to go. PS I had a word with the manager and others. This unsatisfactory experience should not come as news.

Been here 3 times in about a month and it's been consistently good. Staff seem happy and provide good service. Food decent.

I don't understand why companies offer a food service if they can't afford to provide it. Anyone who has travelled to other countries will know that the UK in general will not be remembered for its food. But the overpriced, tiny portions that are offered in this place beggars belief. (Congratulations on the smallest portion of chips I have ever seen!) I try not to eat out in the UK because home-cooked-food is almost always superior, but we were doing a Sunday walk around Wellingborough and we were tired and hungry and decided to treat the kids. Yet again I have to report that we were left disappointed with the food offered in another unimpressive English eatery.

The entire restaurant had a strong smell of old burnt oil; I had to put my clothes in the washing machine and take a shower after returning home because everything reeked. The chicken fried in deep oil was burnt. The cheesecake resembled something from Aldi or similar, with just a bit of marmalade and cream on top. I used to really enjoy going to Castello in the past, but for some reason, they stopped offering what they used to

Honestly, I had low expectations. I don't know the area, and we found this place between a vape shop and a run of charity shops. But it was excellent. Clean and bright inside. Staff were really friendly. We ordered from our table via the QR system which worked faultlessly. We had 6 small plates of tapas dishes and they were all excellent. There were good beers on tap and non-alcoholics on the menu. If I'm ever in the area again, we will definitely go back here.

Food was very good and staff were very good. Just a tad pricey hence 4 not 5 stars. Recommended though

It was very good, would recommended.

We came on Valentines day as we had met here, got engaged and even married here and our night didnt start very well as was having issues with a gift card that we had. However, Sophie the manager had sorted it all out and even gave us free drinks! We had such a lovely amazing night, food was AMAZING as always and the service was PHENOMENAL. Sophie and staff, thank you all so much youve made it the best valentines ever🥰 we will be coming back as always!

Been to a few of these lounges 2 in Bristol and one in plymouth. Thay are all very good but paignton one seems to stand above them. The atmosphere and friendly staff make this place that bit better. Myself partner and dog had a lovely lunch here food was good and so was the service. The day we were there thay did a photo shoot of cocktails and lucky for us the manager chose us to drink them. Thank you. We own a hotel in paignton so will definitely be recommending.

Lovely food and service but music is way too loud

Warm welcome on entry. Directed to seating upstairs. Quirky interior. Lovely ambience. Usual menu. Order from table. Lounge eggs delicious. Perfectly cooked. The service is prompt and polite. Cappuccino could be a tad warmer but still tasty. Quality food overall and has always been a splendid experience. Would happily return.

I met a friend for coffee and the atmosphere was relaxed. The tables were laid out well and there was enough room for a toddler and a pram. The area was clean and tidy and the staff were friendly. Our only gripe was that there wasn't a great selection of small sides or pastries for breakfast/lunch - at least not on the menu we saw.

Castello lounge is comfortable and homely. "Central Perk" but with better service. 🙂

Castello is our go to place when we would like to treat ourselves. Very polite staff, free water (same for dogs,) fast service, artistic atmosphere. Everything is an absolute 5 stars. Thanks Castello :)

Excellent service, nice ambience but food quality not very good. Had a large lounge breakfast. Beans in a cup were cold, portion size on the mushrooms extremely small, bacon was rubberized, sausages cold. But service ladies were lovely but didn't ever ask if the food was ok.

We had been in the Lounge in Prestatyn before and saw rthis one. Yes from the same mould. On a Sunday mellow environment great food, great service, reasonable prices, Recommended

Sausages were pink. Top of eggs slimy. Waiter wore shirt with offensive wording on it. Won't be recommending this place

My first and last visit. I visit many cafes in and around Wellingborough and Northants. Very disappointed by the food and the coffee. Firstly clean table and friendly staff. I ordered a black coffee and a bacon sandwich. Coffee tasted awful, the quality is the worst I have tasted. The bacon sandwich was again the worst I have ever had anywhere(see photos before and after). I was given a bacon fat sandwich with half a slice of bacon in one half. The young service guy came over and I told him no way was I eating that and he took it away. The second sandwich arrived., and again half a slice of bacon just bacon well done and again not best quality. Drank a third of the coffee and half a sandwich. Overpriced poor quality food. Only popped in to try today because the best cafe in town was packed and I was starving. The Rice Krispies hit the spot when I got home. So, just doing an update - as you can see had a reply from Costello`s with regard to my poor experience, and they asked me questions, which i took the time to reply out of courtesy and was wiling to go back and re-review, but after taking the time to reply, i have had nothing from them, so the management team is as poor as the food they serve. Do not waste your time and money here folks, overcharged for very poor quality food - look at the state of my bacon sandwich !!

Aged 73 & 67 we were treated like young lovers, it was quite nice actually. My lunch tasted lovely but not what I expected. Empty plates all round. Will go again.

I go to Castello Lounge regularly and I always receive good service here and the food is always lovely! They have a lot of variety on the menu and everything I've tried on there, I've really enjoyed and the staff are lovely!

I visited with with a friend recently, we didn’t book as it was a Thursday night. The decor is cosy and intimate and it fits with the ‘lounge chain’ brand. The menu is extensive with brunch options (served all day), sandwich and burgers. We ordered off the app, as we both feeling pretty lazy after a day at work. The drinks and food both came out very quickly and were brought over to us by a friendly server. The food was served piping hot. It was decent sized portions, for the price you pay, and above all - it tasted good! The toilets are upstairs and they were clean and tidy but there’s also a baby changing and disabled toilet on the ground floor. Overall, a lovely meal, enjoyed by both with friendly and efficient service, would definitely come again.

Excellent service and delicious food. Beetroot and feta flatbread and Lebanese falafel flatbread both lovely. Side of fries was too salty though. I’d ask for no salt next time. Varied drinks including low and zero alcohols. Service was really polite and friendly and we were checked in on. Been several times and always splendid. Glad it has stayed so. Would happily recommend. App works a treat. Drinks arrived in minutes. Food not long after. Lovely ambience.

Great burgers! Pleasant staff. This is a fantastic place to grab a bite to eat while in town shopping or out of an evening. A lot of time, money and thought has gone into the decor and theming of Capello Lounge. I like it.

Went for brunch, my partner got the big full English which is very big and good value for money and I got the tapas which was lovely. Very good food. Really attentive and lovely staff. Overall really good experience and would highly recommend!

Order at the table using the QR Code and website. Drinks come out quickly and the food itself is tasty and the staff is friendly. The place itself has a homey feel to it so it is quite a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy while eating the food.

Overall enjoyed breakfast here but would be nice if they toasted both sides of the bread (which we did tell a staff member at the time) 😜

I was very disappointed I ordered the Mexican Superbowl. However when it arrived it was not as I imagined. The rice and beans were clearly microwaved and just bad quality. The salsa tasted awful like it was made from some tomatoes they found in the back of the fridge that they forgot to use last week. And then there was a tiny pot of guacamole in the middle. Deffo came out of pot from Tesco or something. Considering that everything was microwaved I’m also very confused as to why it took over 25 minutes to come out. I paid £10 for this meal and it was defiantly not value for money. Don’t buy this meal it is not worth it.

In a town largely devoid of funky, tasty places to eat this is an utter gem. We often return here as it offers up such tasty treats in a welcoming environment. Service can sometimes be a little slow, but they are always battling staff shortages it seems, but always polite and friendly. I hope it stays here for a long time!

Decent little place to go for food and they have quite a good range of drinks. Good service and very friendly staff.

Great meeting place when out on a Friday

Very efficient & food was lovely.

The WiFi is terrible, ordering through the app takes forever and our orders did not go through. We ordered drinks during happy hour that never arrived despite us being charged. We inquired with management who were rude and ultimately told us to order again without expectation of a refund and at extra cost as it was outside the happy hour period. Terrible service.

Foul house red wine , when queried it staff were bolshy , food was not what I expected , greasy , best thing about it was the halloumi fries all 2 of them £5 won’t come back should of just gone to the Hungary horse

Brilliant service, very speedy! We had tapas and it was delicious and great value for money. This was our first visit but will definitely come again.

As the adventurers, Sam, Harry, and Sophie, descended from the peaks of the majestic Peak District, their weary bodies yearned for food. Whispers of dining excellence drifted through the cobblestone streets, heralding the legendary Costello Lounge as the epitome of culinary mastery. Little did they know, these street murmurs were a gross understatement, for what awaited them within those hallowed walls would surpass their wildest gastronomic dreams.

Great location with friendly staff and tasty food. Food and drinks are quite pricey considering we are in Wellingborough.

I like the place. Ordered a teacake and a pot of tea. Huge teacake. Tea took ages. Menfolk arrived and ordered coffee. That took time to arrive. Not heaving busy. Teacake had fruit peel in One server wearing a crop top. Saving grace was the server who noticed my bank card on the table.

Ordered a takeaway from here this evening for our family of five for the first time and was extremely happy! Was nice to see a decent gluten free menu, which I ordered the pulled brisket chilli from. The staff were friendly and welcoming, our order was ready on time (took 20 mins, which is very reasonable for the quality of food), the food was hot, well presented and delicious, will definitely be returning! Lovely place. Quite a limited menu for fussy eaters. Good range of drinks, though some favourites removed from the new menu. Easy to order from the app and it is brought to your table. Nice range of cocktails. Tapas is good here.

Visited here several times during March 2023 as our son had recently moved to Wellingborough. Great location, good food and certainly consistent in quality and portions. Well stocked bar and great staff... When in town, Castello Lounge will be our number one go to venue. Keep up the good work everyone.

Nice place for a breakfast. Though its looking bit shabby these days and could do with a refit. Its still good food and service.

Good and varied menu, especially for breakfast. Not just the run of the mill bacon and eggs, although they are available to. Staff attentive. Always busy so usually a good buzz around the place. Very clean washrooms upstairs are a bonus.

My girlfriend and I popped in for some lunch before the theatre. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and after eating 1/4 of it came across 2 long hairs 🤢

Best place to eat in Wellingborough, the staff are so friendly, the vibe in Castello's is fantastic and is my go to place for coffee in the day, and delicious food in the evening. Try the Tapas, you will not be disappointed. Added bonus is it is dog friendly.

I recently visited this place. The decorations were beautiful and made me feel like home. Spacious so you could have your privacy if you wanted, service was quick and friendly. I liked the order system with which you scan a barcode and order online. Members of staff run food and drinks at your table. Prices were decent and overall I recommend it for your next visit. Nice coffee, polite and pleasant staff.

This place has an alternative menu to other chain places. It's a refreshing option to have different choices. The dishes are freshly prepared so you can change bits you don't want. I chose the vanilla milkshake to drink for £3.odd it seemed to me like a pint of milk with vanilla flavour added, I'm sure it probably wasn't but that was the impression I got. Also the paper straw wasn't tall enough over the lip of the bottle

Food was good, but it's annoying that you have to provide an email address for ordering and then you get evaluation mails... I just like to eat and move on.

Nice environment fir lunch. Staff were nice and helpful. Some slightly weird food choices on the menu as well as the classics. Food was tasty and served hot. We ordered and paid via the app which although functional, would benefit from a bit of a UI improvement for a better UX. I can’t comment on value as I didn’t even look at the prices on the day. We will return again soon

Visited Wellingborough for the day and really enjoyed our brunch here. Lovely, attentive staff and tasty food. I sent back my shakshuka as it was a bit cold, they were super sweet and returned me a fresh, hot portion with fresh poached eggs and it was delicious. Good cocktails too. Recommend 👍🏻

Lovely place to take the family. Informal friendly setting and great staff. Food very good and reasonable prices with plenty of choice from burgers to tapas and vegetarian dishes. Would recommend .

Lovely vintage Parisian atmosphere . Warm, cosy and friendly. Really enjoyed relaxing on the sofa upstairs with the family. It’s a favourite now.
