We ate here prior to seeing the excellent production of Blitz in the adjacent Union Theatre, and a great expereience it was too. The food is all freshly cooked and comes after a minimal wait, so what's not to like? We arrived early to be sure of getting a table as there is limited seating, and the place was, as usual, buzzing.

We stay in the Travelodge on Union Street and go to OTR for breakfast and other meals as well as a glass of wine in the evenings. We have been using OTR since it opened at this site, and when it was much smaller at it's old site. The food is great and not overpriced. The staff are a very friendly bunch and we are looking forward to going back in the summer.

OTR is a fairly new restaurant, a pub, really, and it is in the same building as the Union Theatre. We had tickets for 'Tom Brown's School Days' and decided to have a meal before the show. You are given a menu and once you have made your selections, you order at the counter, pay, then sit down and enjoy the pub atmosphere, chat, or check your email until your food is ready. It's brought to your table along with napkins and utensils. I had fish and chips which were excellent. After finishing dinner everyone who had play tickets (the majority of customers) was asked to enter the theatre through some heavy drapes separating it from the pub cafe. Very laid back and friendly staff and the atmosphere is jolly. I noted that there are breakfast, lunch and drinks menus so I saw that the place opens at 7 a.m. and remains open until late in the evening.

On our way to the Tate Modern, we grabbed a coffee. It was really good, the staff was nice, what else!

Five of us had some great coffees at Over the Road Cafe. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The lighting was quite dark which I liked. It was really busy on a Wednesday evening which is a good sign! I definitely recommend and it sounds like the food is great too from others reviews. A bit tucked away but worth finding!

Popped in for a proper breakfast instead of fried food buffet offering in the hotel- had eggs florentine & a 1st class latte. Would easily go again - nice vibe & trendy feel

Stumbled across this little gem tucked away behind the UJ. Had smashed avocado and egg on rye bread which was fresh, tasty and a generous portion. The full English is also excellent with good quality ingredients. Highly recommended for a leisurely Sunday breakfast.

As the food franchise at the back of the union street theatre this is a great place for simple wraps and hot sandwiches. This is not a corporate chain and is all the better for that. The food is hearty and wholesome and the staff are hardworking and friendly. This is a great alternative to the trendy but hollow restaurant chains which now populate the Southwark area.

Over the Road is just a few minutes walk away from Southwark underground station and very close to the Travelodge hotel should you be staying there. It is an unusual sort of place with bench-style tables and plenty of casual atmosphere. I was given a very warm welcome. Vegetarians can eat well here but prices are not cheap. They do a full veggie breakfast for £9.50 and a veggie platter for around £15.00. I was here on this occasion for coffee and snacks but would definitely return and try a full meal.

Hash in borough market was well worth the visit. The queue moves quickly and the food is worth the wait. My hubby had the pulled pork burger which was fresh, delicious and messy to eat, but soooo worth it! I had the mac'n'cheese and fried chicken - omg, amazing! It is street food, no place to sit, so just grab and go, eat while taking in the atmosphere of the market.

Drinks at room temperature are one thing better than potatoes placed in a bag without any container and the hamburger could also be better not recommended.
