Applebee's in Southwark

We weren’t specifically looking to eat here but just happen to stumble across it. So glad we. Everything was great from our waiter to food and atmosphere. The scallops and fish and chips were my favorite but the other dishes we ordered was good as well.

Since we were on holiday, we went with our daily clothes. I don't know if it was for that reason, but they tried to arrange a table at the entrance by looking at our appearance. When we asked for a different place inside, they reluctantly helped us. We had much better fish&chips in different restaurants.

Literally the best food I have ever eaten, 6 oysters and a turbot tranche

Excellent in all ways! A uniquely London fish restaurant, nestled under the bridge and in the bustling market. Unpretentious and beautifully lit dining room with friendly, welcoming staff and cocktails to die for. We had scallops and fish and chips - both delicious. Can’t wait to try more from the seasonal menu.

The best Fish & Chips we ate in London! Amazing ! We would also recommend the Pear Spritz and the Rhubarb pistachio dessert! Let's not forget the draft beer which was perfect. The service is impeccable and the staff very kind.

I had an amazing experience at Applebee's. I had the steak tuna and my friend had the fish and chips. We were both very pleased with our meals. It was super fresh, delicious, well-seasoned. I will definitely be back.

The food wasn’t great , very tasteless , very bland & lacked a lot of flavour. I have been to Applebee’s on many occasions and I would class the food as top tier. I haven’t been to Applebee’s for almost a year and went for Valentine’s Day as I speak so highly of the restaurant to my partner she chose there for our Valentine’s Day meal. We had the platter for two seems as it’s changed it used to be in like a tray / larger dish & used to have an amazing sauce that I would dip the seafood in , it’s now served all on a plate. 😞 The food was extremely bland my partner asked for garlic the chef didn’t look too pleased & I heard him tell the waiter that this is the last request. 🤷🏿‍♂️ Not sure to why he uttered that comment but anyway it’s sad to say my best part of the meal was the sourdough bread & the waiters that served me were great other than that , I doubt I will be ever going back.

If you haven't yet visited this family-owned seafood joint, go. It's sublime. The lobster mac and cheese and dover sole were real crowd-pleasers and I loved the twist on the classics like the stuffed sea bream on a bed of curry sauce – an ode to the chef's northern roots. The wine list alone deserves a special mention with various whites and sparklings hailing from British producers in Devon and Kent. The team are also behind La Gamba, a Spanish tapas place on the Southbank, which comes highly recommended.

First time visiting after the relaunch - you have to try the Dover Sole!! The chef really elevated this classic dish with a fresh, contemporary approach and even delivered it to our table personaly. The slick yet warm interior is inviting and elegant, while house-made onion flavour crisps were a delicious snack to pair with a cocktail before starters. Highly recomend this family run restaurant!

Phenomenal food and great service. The scallops are amazing; Dover sole main is definitely one not to miss and as for desserts you have to try them all (especially the pavlova!)

We celebrated our first night out after the birth of our second boy, and boy was it an experience! Memorable bouillabaisse, dry aged (!) sole, perfect octopus skewers. And a rhubarb-based cocktail that I should probably have had much less of :-)

Applebee’s has always been a great restaurant, but they’ve really elevated their game with the re-launch. Really impressed! We started our meal with super tasty taramasalata croustades, beautifully flavoured grilled scallops and easily the best beef tartare we’ve had. We then had the perfectly cooked and delicate Dover sole and the really tasty whole stuffed sea bream with curry sauce for our mains. We finished with the pavlova which is the most gorgeous sticky toffee/salted caramel desert you’ll find. All enjoyed with some lovely fizz, white wine and spicy margaritas, and served by great staff! 10/10

My Wife and I visited the restaurant after the recent refurbishment and absolutely loved it. The restaurant feels more light and warm and the food from the new menu was excellent. I have the beef tartar, followed by the Dover sole which I would absolutely recommend with triple cooked chips and creamed spinach. The sticky toffee pavlova…. You just have to! It is also nice to see so many English wines, something I haven’t really seen too much before. Highly recommend.

Total and completely divine. That lobster mac and cheese 🦞 Hark! Most splendid and heavenly indeed! This noble combination of crustacean and cheese-laden pasta shall forever reign supreme in mine memory as the finest feast I hath encountered. I shall proclaim its glory throughout the streets of London, that all may know of its most excellent reputation.

Incredible evening. First time dining here since they’ve reopened and was extremely impressed. The food was exquisite with a well thought out menu and it felt like we were able explore this kind of cuisine in a new way. Subtle twists and beautiful flavours. Staff were extremely welcoming and friendly too - cracking atmosphere! Will be bringing my wife back again very soon. Highly recommended

Excellent fish restaurant inside the Borough Market. Prices a little high but fabulous dishes. Precise and impeccable service. We particularly recommend the Grilled Octopus and the crab croquettes, a spectacle!

Avoid! Ravioli was awful, really thick pasta, over cooked rubbery lobster with a thin dull bisque. Miso salmon was so dry and overcooked, sides were far too salty, all the fish was over cooked. The only dish that wasn't overcooked was the Scallops and pork belly. The tuna tartare was so bland. Hugely lacked any acidic notes or freshness in any dish. The hake and leek was nice but again over cooked and a bit too salty. Lovely service though, but at best mediocre food. It's was certainly not worth the money - had much better fish elsewhere and very disappointed for a "fish" restaurant. Service was great though! But I wouldn't return. 2 stars - one for the service we had from our waiter, 1 for wine and scallops dish. The only great thing about the day was the company I was in.

From the head waiter to other staff, service is effective and discrete. Fish dishes are excellent. Fresh tasting fish cooked to perfection as per your desire. Side dishes are a good compliment. It was my first time here but not my last. Drinks are well made and plentiful. A great way to relax and enjoy the Borough market area. Recently made a second visit here and happy to say re the above; ditto. Only go here if you want to enjoy good quality fish in a cool atmosphere, being served by staff/real people that take an interest in their occupation. Highly recommended.

What a nice way to spend a chilly December day before Christmas. Our waiter was French and had a great sense of humour. He played along as I suggested we speak only French as my guest came up short in this area (though speaking 3 other languages!) His energy made a good day great. We had the bouillabaisse soup though it was blended as opposed to having whole pieces in - some shell, fish meat and some stock whizzed up made a lighter soup but with plenty of flavour and topped with 3 large crouton with cheese on, adding to the body of the dish. Nice. The tuna tartare was served on bitter lettuce with an umami and sweet teriyaki sauce This combination was fresh and flavoursome. Then on to the mains – The octopus was less charred than it might have been but, plentiful and coming on a chickpea sauce bed. The scallops – 3 of them were accompanied by generous blocks of pork belly in an apple sauce with apple pieces – this subtle arrangement was new to me and it worked. Then there were 4 large whole Argentinian prawns in their shells on – Plenty of flavour and splashed with a stock sauce. We went back for 2 extra starter plates – Crab croquetas – cubes of crab and mush in a breaded crust – nice, and Cod Cheeks in a Spanish tomato sauce with capers – Generous on the cod and tart to the tongue - satisfying. For booze we went for a white Rioja at £40 for the bottle – crisp and dry – it hit the spot. The total with service was £80 per person – Not cheap but decent value for the quantity and quality of food, the atmosphere, and the charm of Stephan our French waiter. Recommended.

Food was delicious here. The tuna steak in particular was exquisite. The inside is nice as well, quite cosy. Service was good but we had to chase them up for seats and service so doesn't get the full five stars, but no complaints outside of that. A good seafood restaurant overall.

In the run up to Christmas I was down in London on business and couldn’t get into my usual eaterie, so chose Applebee’s based on having had their seafood wraps in Borough Market many times. The service was great, the atmosphere was good and the food was good. I had the crab croquetas which were very nice ( I was planning on Lobster Ravioli but they’d run out). Choosing my main was hard, but being on a budget I went for cod and chips. The cod was lovely but the chips could’ve been better. I don’t think they were triple or even double fried. Would I go back? Yes, if I couldn’t get in my first choice.

We have a great time at Applebee's Fish. Wonderful and very helpful Staffs. Will definitely return for more lovely cuisine.

Best seafood restaurant in London. Seafood platter is another level of pleasure

I found this gem through a friend at uni. The experience was totally mind-blowing! Starting with a fresh and delicious raw salmon and tuna with just enough seasoning to make them taste better without hiding their natural flavours. It had been a while since last time I went out and ordered a risotto, after so many disappointments, but I gave it a go, and it was absolutely fantastic. Well-balanced flavours, everything cooked to perfection, and with such a great service, one could only recommend it and say that will be back soon! Ah, don't forget to check out the house cocktails, I had the elderflower spritz which was 👌 Thank you Maria for the great service, keep the good work up. See you soon :)

Fresh and delicious seafood restaurant

Superb fish and friendly service makes for an ideal lunch venue.

Ordered seafood risotto and lobster ravioli. Seafood risotto is average but acceptable. Lobster ravioli - the pasta is very chewy and thick, like chewing rubber-band. The sauce - lobster bisque is ok. Giving a low rating as the lobster pasta is really below standard.

If you like fish 🐟 -> that’s the right spot ! Catchbofbthe das as well as a la carte - very good. Directly next to the market district. Nice Cody place.

This used to be my favourite fish restaurant. I have reviewed it (higher) before. It just seemed to have gone off. The fish portions were smaller than previous visits and both starter (octopus) and main (miso salmon) were slightly overcooked. Not sure miso salmon works as an idea; rather stick to Nobu original miso cod. Anyway, I have always enjoyed Applebee's, but this time felt let down. A disappointment this time.

I had Ahi Tuna & Scottish Salmon served raw (sashimi) for starter and Lobster Ravioli for main. Raw fish was very fresh , generously cut for a sashimi sized appetizer . Ravioli were impeccably tasty, perfectly made pasta and rich lobster stuffing, cooked to perfection in creamy lobster sauce.I had just three of those on my plate, four would be perfect size thought. Both of my dishes are from appetizer/ starter section of the menu . Good and efficient service .Reasonably priced for London restaurant scene .

Our family had a great experience amid the Borough Market madness on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Service was great - especially Natalia. The mussels were perfectly cooked. Sizeable fish and chips. Fresh, juicy oysters. Appreciate the heating and coverage for the outside seating.

Hard to choose what to eat as everything sounded so delicious. The crab on toast with cucumber and radish was fresh, light and tasty. The sauce that came with the beautifully tender Argentinian red prawns was amazing. Plenty of seafood in the risotto, which came with a tasty broth.

I tried the takeaway stall inside Borough market and ordered the cajun fish and prawn wrap. The fish was well seasoned and the prawns were crunchy. Underrated stall, Highly recommended!

The platter is Amazing!!!! I enjoyed it so much but it’s quite pricey. We had 2 glass of wine,water one starter and one platter For 2 pp Total bill about 200£ which is including service charge 20+

Went in for dinner with friends and we ordered oysters and the tuna steak. I must say the oysters were splendid and the tuna steak appetising and our server Irina did a great job recommending us the prefect wine pairing for our meal, on top of providing a very helpful and friendly service all throughout. The place just sits at the entrance of borough market so it was the perfect place to stop by after a day of strolling around.

Entirely deserved high-score for a hard-working team front and back of house, excellent food and considered/curated drinks menu. We arrived quite late 945pm, party of four walk-up. Maitre'd Billel (from Algeria) was friendly and made real effort (shifting tables etc) to squeeze us in this busy spot in heart of Borough Market. There was a bit of a chilly breeze and Billel noticed we were not comfortable, offering us another table by the open kitchen which became available within 15 minutes. Great! Drinks, Food, Service all Great in a buzzy atmosphere. Highly recommend and will go again, ideal for couples and small groups.

Went there with my husband. Very very disappointed. Risotto is too salty. Every bite is like punishment…. The worst risotto ever. Fish and chip - why do you put the tartar sauce all under the fish? That is extremely greasy and disgusting. Can’t finish it at all. When I went there before, the sauce was on the side, but today it is not! By the way, we had to sit at the bar because other tables were reserved. But we didn’t see anybody sit at those vacant tables before we left……

This place is top notch. The service was very good. The food was awesome. My wife and I got several dishes and shared them all. All were amazing.

I took my son here for his birthday and was pleasantly suprised. The fish was fresh and tasty and very reasonably priced. I had the lobster ravioli which was delicious but the scallops and pork belly that my sister had were divine! Tuna steak was perfectly cooked. I would have liked a few more carb options, they only had potatoes and the kids menu offered pasta and prawns but this wasn't available on the main menu. Our waiter was rushed off his feet but he was amazing. Would definitely return!!

I go here at least once a month for the Oysters and Seafood platter. A friend from work joins me and each time we enjoy ourselves tremendously. The service, the staff, the food..... all amazing. We saw the menu on a wander through Borough Market and booked a table ended up going back for the 4 nights of our stay. AMAZING food, service and experience. Would definitely recommend.

We’ve been looking forward to the hot sea food… only for us to get served SALT! Everything was salty , the salad , the sides and the plater and the waiter kept saying I will let them know even though we both knew he didn’t and won’t .

I only have great things to say! We were walking in the London bridge area and wanted some good fish and chips at a restaurant that had a great vibe and stumbled on Applebees after a few other locations we wanted to try had already close their kitchens. Lucky for us we had such a wonderful and memorable time!! The location is accessible with tables indoors and outdoors. We opted for indoor. It’s close to the Main Street and the underground. Food is amazing. Atmosphere is amazing. Staff and Chef are the icing on the cake! Absolutely recommend visiting and trying the fish and chips. The portions are pretty big. The fish is fresh and lightly battered. Tartar sauce was great too. We started with the olives and fresh bread with whipped butter and couldn’t have been happier. Wine was delish! All around great time. Perfect for a date! Super cozy. Can’t wait to go back on our next visit.

The service was top notch. Not only were the waiting staff delightful, but the food came quickly. The music was brilliant, and the volume was suitable so we could chat over dinner. I enjoyed my medium rare tuna steak. It was delicious and perfectly cooked with a bit spiciness of chilli chutney. The bread and butter was a good start, simple but spot on. Chips were golden crisp and flavoursome. The wine selection also good. One of my friend ordered the mussels dish. She had to return the dish because it wasn’t fresh. I had smell one of the mussel and it was smells bad. Should I was the one who having it, it would def put me off. The restaurant located within the vicinity of the Borough Market.

Food was faultless, service was good. Toilet facilities are lacking! Was only disappointed by a request for a piece of bread to mop up some sauce being met with a 5 minute wait and a similar charge.

Strolling through Borough Market looking for a place to eat lunch and Applebee's caught my eye. Very cute little restaurant and the employees were super nice! I had the crab cakes from the appetizer menu with potatoes which were wonderful!

Di fronte al mercato, cucina 100% turistica, purtroppo non mi è piaciuto quasi nulla, dalle ostriche senza alcun sapore, alla tartare di tonno di esigua quantità (davvero forse 30/40gr). Servizio ottimo, davvero gentile. Locale comunque caotico ma a pranzo non può essere altrimenti vista la confusione di Borough Market...... Prezzi esagerati, non lo consiglio.

Food was great buts that's where it ended Too noisy and I could barely hear my friend speak, we were constantly asking each other to repeat But to top it all we were ushered and literally forced out of the restaurant as soon as we had finished eating our last bite - because they need the table. This was at the 1h30m point. We had not even been there for 2h Even fast food restaurants don't rush you out like that. Other people who arrived before us were not being bothered by their rude staff to rush and leave though, so we thought that was very odd. I can't think why they singled us out - two brown women catching up, not drinking any alcohol

Tastless fish, no seasoning! The starter came with 1 block of butter on top :(( And it is also VERY EXPENSIVE!!! We paid 70 pounds for a starter and a main!!!

Everything, really, everything great!

We decided to go after seeing an online post and the restaurant did not disappoint. The staff was really kind and attentive and food delicious. We went for the Seafood platter for 2, and we LOVED it. The seafood was fresh and the tinge of spicy in the sauce just spot on. The chunky chips and the mixed salad, also crisp(y) and refreshing. Lastly, we could not leave without trying desert, and the Tiramisu was just amazing ❤️ A 10/10 Experience.

Had the best meal with a bottle of Chablis and the chef prepared and presented these meals to perfection! 🤩 The team here are absolutely friendly, fun and from what we saw, chef is completely focused 🤣 Everything was served in a timely manner in a welcoming atmosphere and it was divine to dine here. We dropped in just before closing on a cold Thursday evening. We were greeted by Luva and Maria. They both were very friendly and invited us in to warm up by the gas heater while they rapidly prepared our table. My daughter snd I ordered the fish and chips which came out promptly, hot and were cooked to perfection. Quality filet of fish fried in a delicious batter. I would highly recommend Applebees due to the amazing service provided by Luva and Maria as well as the great food.

The BEST meal we had in London. The food was impeccable, and the staff was SO SO friendly. We were lucky to meet Marco, he is amazing at his job and his work ethic is unmatched! I highly recommend this place!! Thank you the whole team! :)

My sister and myself went here for the first time for lunch. My sister is in a wheelchair and they were very accommodating and helpful. The food was very good and fresh. The staff were friendly and professional. We hope to return very soon. Janice and Ursula.

Great service, loved the cod cheeks in particular and lemongrass creme brûlée was divine. We shared our dishes and enjoyed the octopus and anchovies too.

Anniversary meal with my girlfriend. Could not have gone better: the dishes (sea bream & hake) were exquisite. Presentation, taste, quantity & cooking all superb. The service was also top notch. Attentive but human. Pleasant and sincere. More of this! Atmosphere was delightful and our special evening was simply wonderful. I highly recommend and will go again.

Was okay… would I go back, NO. A couple of weeks ago we had dinner here. It was too hot to sit inside and we were placed outside. It wasn’t busy at all, but the hostess didn’t let us choose another table. Meanwhile during our stay half of the tables outside were not reserved and were empty the whole time. The hostess was not friendly at all, she was very grumpy even to her colleagues. We were sitting on the side and had to move the table to even sit somehow comfortably. The waiter was very friendly (middle aged man). The food was okay, but overpriced for the quality. We only ordered two dishes with fish and shrimp including 1 tomato salad and water. We payed 35 pounds per person average.

Good location at the Borough Market/London Bridge. Neat and clean restaurant with a decent sized terrace. Staff (manager Irinel and his team) very friendly and prompt. Top! Great and delicious choice of seafood and fish. Affordable prices. Highly recommended!

A scam in London! Very expensive considering the quality, skill of cooking and potion sizes. Also, there was a scratch on my wine glass. I expected much better quality considering the price tag
