Our Plaice in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

I have used this F&C previously and never had a problem. Normally your order is completed when you arrive, but tonight they’d already been done and wrapped and they were in the cabinet, even though I was 10 mins early. Tonight the chips were dry and the batter was well what can I say it didn’t resemble anything that I’d ever eaten before. Very expensive, very disappointing.

Disappointed!! Have been here before and no problem, however, this time I placed my order,(they cook fish to order) after about 5 minutes the person in front of me was being served, the server put salt on the fish, the customer said I didn't want salt as I'm sharing with my son, so I was asked do I want salt and vinegar I said yes and agreed to have that portion, the owner told the server don't put salt on the fish as it makes it stick to the paper, so I thought oh I'm going to get the fish that's stuck to paper, I didn't say anything, as I was in a rush and didn't want to wait any longer, then when my fish was ready both pieces were given to customer in front of me, one free of charge, (because they were thin apparently and curled up)! So 2 more fish were put in for us, the owner said I've put 2 more better ones in for you, didn't look any different to me really but hey ho, so after waiting over 20 minutes now i finally get my order, at home and although cooked on the outside the batter was under cooked on the inside and soggy, put me off so fed it to the dog, fish and chips is a treat for us so bitterly Disappointed.

Lovely chippy, my favourite chips in Cornwall. Fish is lovely too. Lots of choice on the menu but for fish and chips this 😋

Asked for a large fish. Unfortunately the fish was what I regard as a very small portion. Flavour excellent but I was left hungry. I would not return.

It has lost its spot as my number one chippy in Cornwall, just not as good as it was. Which is such a shame, I will leave it a while and try again.

We cannot recommend Our Plaice highly enough, the best chip shop we've ever been to! The service was very good, our food was tasty and I was able to get sweet potato fries! ,The potions were generous and there was a great selection on the menu, Very good value for money too!

This is by far the best fish and chip shop in Cornwall. The owners are so friendly and so passionate about their shop. It was an absolute pleasure to eat here. 10/10 best Cod we have had x

We always enjoy coming here on Friday evenings the food here is amazing, the staff is so friendly and we always have a good chat and a laugh while we are waiting.My little boy loves coming back here on Friday evenings, not just for the food ,the staff are so fun and always cheerful. We never see them having a bad day, even if they was they never show it. We don't have anything bad to say about this place. The shop closes at 8 but they will stay on longer if they still have customers coming in through the door they never turn anyone away. If anyone is driving pass and you want fish and chips I recommend to stop here. You won't be disappointed and you will want to come back for more. They always make you feel welcome. We always come back on our Friday evenings without fail. Good food and very friendly staff.

happen to be in chasewater to spot this fish and chips on my way through considering a quick visit. there was one gentleman already in there waiting for his food… as the lady scooped the chips a rather large man came from behind and stuck his hands where the chips are kept and progressively stuffed his face whilst licking his fingers. I happily skipped my trip to this chippy and recommend you do to.

What a lovely fish and chip shop , really friendly people excellent food , kebabs was to die for ,10 out of 10 for service , price, cleanliness, etc could not rate this place any higher ,

pale dry no crunch chips ..and thin soggy batter on the fish, barely any salt and vinegar and a big price tag for the privilege wouldn't recommend and will not be returning.

i didnt enjoy this one bit . a terrible fish and chips and it cost way more than needed for this type of food. very dissapointed

Best fish and chips I’ve had in Cornwall, and I’ve tried a few. From Penzance up to Bodmin, Perranporth to Falmouth. It is the best by far. Friendly owners as well. Couldn’t wish for more.

Haven't cleaned the fry oil in a while can taste it in thr fish and chips. Everything seems microwaved wasn't nice at all. I completely left mine, will not be returning and don't recommend

Fab fish and chips. Cooked fresh and we sat in to eat. Huge portion and tasted wonderful with perfectly crispy chips. We were made incredibly welcome and the owners clearly take huge pride in their business. Forget the fashionable overpriced places like Steins and support local people when you holiday - you won't be disappointed.

The fish is really fresh and so white. Beautiful quality and cooked to perfection. Very well priced as well. Lovely couple who provided a great service as they were kind enough to cook us fresh fish just before they closed. The fish was large enough for Arnold and like him….. we will be back!
