The food was exceptional, with the beef cooked to perfection. However, I was informed over the phone before booking that it would be their ‘pound-an-ounce’ day, only to discover upon arrival that this wasn’t the case. Unfortunately, the service was horrendous. We waited over an hour for our mains, and the preparation of a few small desserts took nearly as long. While I cannot fault the quality of the food—it was delicious and expertly prepared—the poor service completely ruined the experience, leaving us disappointed. Sadly, we won’t be returning.

Our 1st time here on recommendation, Sunday 29th September 24. Busy 14:00 table. Roast beef M/R lunch & the steaks we ordered were all excellent, cooked to perfection, 1st class accompaniments, all seasoned nicely, with a tremendous shine on the jus. Great presentation. Also noticed the specials boards with some excellent offers. Our compliments to the Chef. 2 large tables with in a tiny room meant the volume was deafening but will return soon. I’m sure. A great village local with some excellent beers & wines. Many thanks Adams.

Visited yesterday (Thursday) when by chance they have the Chateaubriand on special at lunch for £30 for two people. An extra for £4 two portions of chips and the same for some cauliflower cheese. We what a superb meal. Cooked to medium rare the meat melts in the mouth and is full of flavour unlike so many restaurants. £8.50 for a 250ml glass of delicious Shiraz on the side and we were good to go. This place is fantastic no two ways about it. We ate a lot of other things which we absolutely didn't need. We are just greedy people 😱 bu that beef will long live in the meal. The best beef I have ever eaten. Well you know what, just maybe! 😋

We visited here for the Ounce steaks £1 per ounce on a Wednesday. We thought the deal sounded too good to resist so had to visit. The steaks and parmesan chips were very nice. You could tell they were top quality cuts of beef and had been cooked very carefully. The only let down was the creamy leeks and broccoli sides. They sounded really good on the menu, but when we started to eat them we found that they were undercooked and hard. I regret not ordering the mac and cheese, as that looked yummy!

We visited Ounce for Sunday lunch in May and had a lovely time with great food. We asked for extra gravy and were supplied with it immediately with no charge. The waiter was also very friendly and helpful. On our return visit in June for Sunday lunch, the food was still great. However, our waiter was the not the best and insisted we had to pay an extra £5 for a tiny jug of gravy. The gravy that was on the meal when it was bought to the table was minimal and I am fairly sure most people would have requested extra. Although the food was as good as the first time the charge of £5 for gravy and the unhelpful waiter have put us off from visiting in the near future.

My partner and I, along with my son and his partner, had Sunday lunch here last week. Unfortunately, it was not a great experience. The food was OK nothing special and if you order the beef be aware it says medium rare on the menu but comes rare and bloody I would have sent it back but the main issue was not the food and drink but some of the the other people/family in there. There was a large family group spread over several tables with young children that basically were running riot sliding around the floor, running around shouting and making a real nuisance of themselves. The parents couldn't care less, and the staff said and did nothing. Hence, the reason I didn't send my food back as all I wanted was to finish and get out as soon as possible. On a final note, the cheesecake I had was a very small portion, very dry and definitely not worth the price. In all, it was a very disappointing experience after hearing such good things about this place, and my son and his partner have been several times and had a lot better experience such a shame.

Awful experience. Had booked a table for 7 people for 5pm to celebrate a family birthday. We were 10 minutes early so grabbed a drink at the bar and sat outside to wait, as the waitress mentioned our table wasn’t ready for us. Thirty minutes had passed to find out that our table still wasn’t ready as the people before us were still eating their pudding, and would probably be another 15-20 minutes before it’d be ready. Unfortunately we weren’t willing to wait, and potentially sit down to our table 40 minutes later than booked. We won’t be returning.

Ate there last night. Was my fourth time at Ounce in Bishampton. The previous three occasions I ordered medium and got rare so, for the first time ever, last night I ordered medium- well done and it still came out rare and fleshy in the middle way too undercooked for my liking. Went for a meal on a Saturday night. Booked ahead, but it wasn't too busy, so it may be possible to get a table without booking. The service was pretty good; as we were early we decided to have a drink by the bar before going to sit at the table. Once we were seated we were left for maybe a little too long with the menu, but we were in no hurry. Once we had ordered everything went very smoothly. We opted for just one bread and jus for starters which was a delicious precursor to the main meal, the bread toasted nicely on the outside and airy enough to soak up the delicious jus superbly. The steaks were fantastic: Dexter Sirloin was large and tender and cooked perfectly (medium rare as requested) and the fillet likewise - the latter a bargain compared to usual restaurant fillet prices and the 14oz larger than most I've seen. The sides were a little underwhelming; the chips soft and oily, although the truffle and parmesan version were tasty nonetheless, and the tenderstem broccoli could have done with another minute, and maybe a bit less parmesan melted over it (in fact, maybe a dry parmesan/breadcrumb mix would be better on both this and the chips, it was a bit melted cheese overload), but they were OK accompaniments to the main stars, the steaks. The steaks really are fantastic. Not being a mushroom fan, I left the flat mushrooms that come as standard, but I had some of the tasty tarragon oil from the top of them which makes me think I need to try the Bernaise sauce next time. There is a small but varied - and reasonably priced - wine list to choose from, plus all the usual bar drinks (again, decently priced). Nice espresso martinis! I'll happily go and eat there again. In fact, I will! (I might try and leave room for a starter and/or dessert, too). A tiny bit more care on the sides and this would be the perfect meal.

My first visit here, a shame that it's 30 miles from home. It was for my sons 40th birthday celebration. Wednesday night so it was exceedingly busy, all tables taken, so booking essential. Food was taking about 20-25 minutes to arrive but as it's all cooked to order, that was acceptable. The offer of £1 per ounce for the Butcher's cut is a winner to keep this place packed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The meat served is so tasty and succulent. The side of Cauliflower cheese was sufficient to share and perfectly cooked,no hard veg here!!! Chips are crisp and flavourful and served in a metal container so they keep hot. The staff were friendly and efficient, all young, possibly students. Car parking behind the pub and across the front was full when we arrived so had to park on the road. I hope the local residents appreciate having a successful business on their doorstep as the parking might be an issue otherwise!!! My husband tried the locally brewed Ounce lager and said it was a good pint. My blackcurrant cordial was pretty average (!) but turned up a notch as served in a cut glass tumbler, never had such a beautiful glass in a pub or restaurant before! Well worth a visit ,they do other special offers in the week, so check out if you're a steak lover. Otherwise the menu is pretty limited. There's also an Ounce on The Tything in Worcester. One of our party has a fish allergy, she was impressed when the waitress advised her that the peppercorn sauce had Worcester sauce in it which contains a trace of anchovies , she cancelled the order and avoided any reaction. We'll done to the chef for being on the ball even on a busy evening. All together a pleasant evening, good to see this relatively new venture doing so well in difficult times. Access is up steps or a ramp.

For our main course, I had the butcher’s cut steak, cooked bleu, it was cooked as it should be, delicious, and fantastic value at £1 an ounce. Hubby had the Pichana steak cooked rare, and it was beautifully tender and succulent. The creamy peppercorn sauce and the sumptuously rich butcher’s jus were the perfect accompaniments. Our starters (fillet carpaccio and Spanish gambas) were also packed full of flavour. Our compliments also go to Charlie, our server. I'd like to say some of my visit here deserved 5 stars, sadly let down by a few things that really should be easily rectified. My Mum and partner took me here for an early 50th birthday celebration. The manager who greeted us was extremely welcoming with a gentle sense of humour and explained our table was nearly ready and served us drinks at the bar. That was the beginning of very good service throughout the night so definitely no complaints in that department. Then the food. Me and my Mum's partner had chateaubriand as it was Thursday so it was £30 rather than usual £72 on other nights. This was the star of the show. The chef had cooked it to perfection. A glorious medium rare. Absolutely bursting with beef flavour and melt in the mouth texture. A newborn baby with no teeth would have no problems eating this. Sadly all the chefs skill stopped whilst they made a bearnaise sauce. What I recieved resembled and tasted like an unseasoned tarragon butter. I'm an ex-chef so know what a bearnaise should look and taste like. I'm not sure how he managed to get that texture. The lack of seasoning was quite a disappointment considering how well the steak was done. The biggest disappointment of the night was my mother's salmon dish. For two reason. It was the fish option and my Mum has been 3 times and says it's always been a salmon as fish option. Does the chef not know how to cook other fish. My suggestion would be tuna or swordfish steaks to fit in with Ounces love of all things steak. The salmon on that night was cooked nicely but came with so many new potatoes and broccoli stem you could barely see it. The pesto was an underwhelming brown concoction not bright green as a fresh pesto sauce should be. Again poor sauce implementation ruining a dish. She left most of it and I would have done the same. Her £10 prawn starter also dissatisfied her as it was one really nice shell on king prawn and then 4 translucent under cooked peeled prawns drowned in some bland oil. I advised her to squeeze all the lime on and put lots of salt and pepper to the oil which helped a little. For £10 starter I'd expect much more than that. My pigeon starter was actually very tasty albeit I needed a microscope to see the actual pigeon breast. Again £9 I'd expect slightly more generous portions. Overall I would go again but only on the nights they offer special offers. I wouldn't want to pay full price. The chef needs to learn sauce cookery and how to season. Also ounce should offer a more varied fish and vegetarian options. I get the whole beef vibe but in this day and age in every group and often couples now not everyone is a massive carnivore. Cater for everyone not just for beef. Tuna and swordfish also can be measured in ounces, Ounce.

Make sure you go on a Thursday as the best cuts are half price, chatubriand for 15 per head is a real steal, flavour was mind blowing presented simply allowing the quality to stand up for itself.

Had the Full Toast for brunch, which was delicious and well cooked. Although the black pudding wasn't the typical type and had a grainy texture that I suspect may have been quinoa. It was less meaty, crumbly and bready than usual and more grainy and crunchy. Otherwise fab though, great atmosphere and good service 👍

Very disappointed with the food. The burgers were soggy and flavourless. The slaw was simply cabbage doused in soy sauce. The chicken wings were the worst of all, mushy and tasteless - we sent them back!

This is a cracking little pub and will certainly visit again when in droidwich. The food is excellent and the landlady has a great sense of humour

We have been a few times in the past. Previous visits would have been 5/5 star, but the last visit was utter disappointment. The beef burgers are an utter joke. I am not even sure that they should be called a burger. The patty was so thin that I think there was more lettuce than beef. The description should have been "salad with a slither of beef". Patties the thickness of a 1 penny coin. That isn't even a joke... Probably our last visit.
