Fab chilled bar, the bar tender luke is always friendly and helpful and makes THE BEST cocktails in town, his zombie is delicious!

What a lovely and warm welcoming. We came in on Thursday night for some tea and the young girl and the gentlemen behind the bar were very warm, welcoming and chatty. We have brilliant service and lovely food.

The staff at ottos are absolutely incredible, especially Luke, Charlotte, Amy and Sylvie. Always a pleasure to have a drink in this beautiful place. Great vibes, delicious wine and lovely food. Definitely try the pulled pork tacos if you’re thinking of visiting! I will always recommend ottos to anyone, they are dog friendly and just a lovely local business.

Visited with 2 friends at lunchtime. Waitress with brown bob style hair walked past us twice without even acknowledging us. We eventually had to stop her and ask for a table for 3, we were told I don't have one, you can have a small round table near the door - but there were not enough seats for all 3 of us - the waitress made no effort to find extra chairs we had to go and find our own. We ordered 5 dishes from Tapas list, 2 of which were so salty they were inedible ( Korean Lamb and some sort of BBQ Pork). We reported extremely salty food to the waitress who cleared our plates - the pork and lamb dishes were barely touched as they were so salty, she didnt apologise or offer to refund or discount the inedible meal. Never would we return again - it was awful !

I came to TripAdvisor to see if I was being unreasonable with my views…turns out I’m not. Every single time I’ve visited Otto’s, the food has been fantastic. It’s a shame the same can’t be said about the staff. The female, who I assume is the manager is by the far the rudest member of staff I’ve come across in the restaurant industry. Her general attitude and demeanour is abhorrent and her arrogance is overwhelming. It’s a nice bar, in a nice village and its people like us that visit that keep the place afloat, that's worth remembering. On my most recent visit a couple of the younger lads behind the bar have also been a little arrogant - I wonder where they get that from? Apparently now you can’t have a tab, despite having food. The gin glasses were filthy and the menu’s could do with a wipe down. I’ll finish this review off with expressing how much I have enjoyed the food every time I’ve been, it’s just a shame that the food is the only good thing about this place. Top tip for this place - read the reviews on here… they’re all saying the same thing. Make the changes and then watch your reviews become 5*.

Met a friend here for coffee. As i arrived first i went inside and ordered a coffee, i was asked which table, i replied i will be sitting outside, my reply to that was a very curt "i need a table number" so i went outside found a table number and told her, hoping that no one took the table while i was inside. Throughout the 2hrs i was there, the same middle-aged lady was rude and disrespectful, she needs to learn some people skills. Yes, I am aware we were sitting outside, but the whole 2hrs we had to listen to yapping and barking dogs, if I'd wanted to be amonst that sort of noise, i would have gone to a zoo. Really not the sort of place you want to return to for a relaxing coffee/lunch with friends.

great place if you want kids running around you not supervised at all inside or out… just what you want when your paying £8 for a medium glass of wine!! Needless to say will not be returning

Got to Otto's after 10am for breakfast. Was told no hot drinks at the moment, strange time to clean the machine! We sat down and waited, no one came back to tell us hot drinks were now available, it was only because we could hear the coffee machine working again that we realised hot drinks were now available. So my friend went to order and the older waitress who served was quite rude and made the ordering process unnecessarily difficult. This lady had been difficult/rude on a previous visit. When she brought the food the table, she proceeded to tidy the the table as well, we had not made a mess but obviously didn't like where we'd put the menu. Not great experience, probably won't go back. Other people on Google have also mentioned rude staff member, I think this lady needs to be spoken to, whether she's the owner or not, attitude needs work.

Food and service faultless. Called in as we were passing, so glad we did. Food cooked perfectly and service with a smile.

Went for dinner at ottos on Tuesday night. A group of young gentleman we’re sat outside while we were sat in the restaurant area. Shortly After one of the gentlemen had came inside, a man, who I can only assume was staff as he had been in and out behind the bar, followed him back outside. He closed the door behind himself a proceeded to shout and swear at the people outside. The man then kicked a chair at one of the gentlemen multiple times and stormed back inside. To say the mood was ruined for the night is an understatement. I expected this place to have higher standards as I have been here many times before. If staff are treating customers like this I doubt anyone will be returning. It’s a shame as bar staff were lovely and drinks are fairly priced. Food was slightly cold but otherwise tasted great. Such a shame!

We stumbled on this restaurant and bar when diverted by "Waze" from the A1 due to an accident. This was a great find. A good variety of excellent food and friendly service.

If you are a female do not visit this place if you want privacy when using the toilet facilities, the head chef walked into a LOCKED disabled toilet whilst my partner was using it having seen her walk into it no more than 1 minute earlier from a chair he was sat on approx 6 foot away, he never apologised, the bar staff were blasé to say the least and when a complaint was made she was told the lock was faulty but no signs were present...DISGUSTING

Visited mid-week for a catch up with friends, booked a table online and glad we did as there wasn’t many tables left when we arrived. There only seemed to be 2 bar-men taking orders, delivering food and cleaning tables…so despite no-one being at the bar, it took us ages to get served and then had to wait for our drinks, our order got mixed up but they resolved straight away. Glasses were dirty but again they did change it for me. Food was lovely and the place had a nice atmosphere it’s a shame there’s no table service though! Also parking is a nightmare!

Visited with a couple of friends for a catch up meal. Busy place and had thankfully reserved a table. Great food well presented & very tasty. Lucky enough to have the addition of some live music.

Shocking service, arrived as a group of cyclists 8, all of us wanted breakfast buns cake and coffee was told half way through ordering that he couldn’t take any more coffee orders and we’d have to wait 20 mins, our table of 4 all got our breakfasts but no coffee, he wasn’t even making coffee, what this place needs is organising and a manager to run the front of house, it’s shocking we all ended up with refunds, several other people walk out. Shame foods was really good and it’s nice inside too.

Don’t waste your time; extremely rude staff who just do not want you to visit. Has gotten worse and worse over recent weeks, and today was the final straw after being a regular customer for the last few years. Attempted to walk in for breakfast...

Lovely setting inside and out. Very good food , especially their chips, gorgeous. The menu has something for everyone and a I am definitely trying the kebabs next time. The drinks menu is large and the staff are friendly

I visited yesterday with a friend for lunch our booking was for 1pm. It wasn’t busy and there were plenty of spare tables when we arrived. I ordered food & drinks for both of us at the bar & paid with my card on ordering....

This is my second visit recently and another really nice meal. BLT sandwich with amazing chips. I’d go back for the chips alone. Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely inside and outside dining areas.

Never in all my life have I been spoken to so incredibly rudely!! The manager (I believe her name is Jackie) was vile. For context, here is how the conversation went... Me: "We've booked a table for 2" Jackie: "Where do you want to sit?"...

After 3 hours in the car heading North we were in need of sustainance and Otto's delivered in spades. The English and small English were amazing. The service was good and it beats a motorway service station any day.

£4.20 a pint of Amstel. I ordered a chip butty to go with my pint. I was charged £2.00 for a small bread cake plus £4.00 for a standard portion of chips. Total £10.20. Does Danny know he’s ripping off his local customers??? I guess...

Well we got there early for a few drinks be for are table was ready 730 pm.but only to be moved to another table before are table was available. Sat at table 15 minutes late,the had to ask if we could see the menu but...

Went on Saturday night for the first time the service was rubbish food was awful would not recommend to anybody this is not the place to go if you like good food the staff are rude and very slow don’t no what they are doing...

Chips are soggy pizza and garlic bread are cold only got 1 drink for my kids would not recommend this at all

Nice place with friendly service. You have to write down your details even if you check in with the NHS app. Could do with a menu. Free wifi. there are heaters at some of the tables. expensive. i paid 9.80 for 2 latte's and a pint of Amstel

Turned up on spec for breakfast and managed to get a table outside. The waitress said it would be warmer indoors and got us a table inside. I ordered a small breakfast which was sausage , two eggs, mushrooms, bacon, cherry tomatoes, toast and beans. It was delicious and tasty local fare and a generous portion. My wife had eggs florentine , which was two large eggs on muffins and great value. All covid precautions were in place and advised before we sat down. This is the first time I have been for breakfast and based on this experience, it won’t be the last.

We went for breakfast as my hubby loves a full English but I much prefer something different like eggs benedict so its nice to go somewhere that excels at both. Hubby had his favourite full English & it was lovely, with top quality sausages, vine cherry tomatoes & flat cap mushroom. All well cooked & top quality. I opted for eggs floretine with an extra side of mushrooms & OMG it was by far THE BEST breakfast I've ever had! It was perfectly cooked, great quality, delicious, fantastic.... I cannot describe how fantastic it was. I can't wait to go back! Thank you so much, this place is a gem. Highly recommended.

Go here regularly but usually chance an outside table. As we were meeting friends we haven't seen for a while we booked a table inside for 4pm. At no point we were told the booking was only for two hours (not even on confirmation email) it was only when we were going to order a bottle of wine we were told we had to vacate the table at 6pm. Very disappointed.

Booked a table for food and drinks with friends, wasnt made aware that we only had a 2 hour time slot before we had to leave. We was only made aware 30 minutes before we have to leave. Utterly ridiculous!!!

I understand we are living in unusual times but, whilst the service from the young waitress was as good as can be, the app is a complete farce. By far the most complicated, stressful & slowest app I’ve used during this pandemic.

Lovely food and wine with friends. Tables inside have to be book. Outside is based on first come first served. All orders have to go through the app which can be difficult to navigate through and doesn't always work to its full potential. Pizzas are particularly good and even have gluten free bases which was brilliant for my friend

Excellent service! The service was fantastic with my mother in law who was short of breathe. They moved us to a lower table so she was comfortable. Lovely food was great very impressed and would return.

Me n my friend came for lunch . Was gave 3 course menu we chose the lunch instead she had a sandwich I had halloumi Kebab it was to die for I would def order it again for sure . Service was very very slow on ordering drinks etc even though it was half empty. Had the 50%off and was worth every penny .cant wait to go back again .even paying full price that meal was worth it .

There were many issues with our evening as a whole. First of all we arrived on time to a very snotty unwelcoming staff member, maybe a shift manager? Who was so unhelpful throughout the night. She asked for all my friends IDs which we had no issue with, it was the way in which she asked this, it wasn’t welcoming at all and was patronising. We got seated on our table.. well, We were told our group of 7 had to be split which was fair enough but 10 feet apart? Especially when they had a contact number that could have been used to inform us about this seating issue, A joke! My friends were on bar stools and my group was in a booth! We were closer to touching strangers than my own group. Secondly they told us it was app only when 4 members of the group brought cash which wasn’t an issue again it was the way in which it was relayed by your staff , we were not told this at time of booking. We proceeded to order starters mains and deserts through the app which in itself is a sh*t show! As we were seated they told us there was an hour wait for food so we said that was fine- 30 mins after we ordered they told us some of the starters had ran out so we needed to choose something else- but the issue with this app is you pre pay! So we had already paid so there was no apology it was just, change your starter thanks. Overall we were there from 7:30 until gone 10:30.My order went through 15 mins after everyone else’s due to the app logging me out twice.Here’s where the real issues started! Two starters from one table.. another couple 5 mins later to my table, everyone’s came before mine, mine arrived as my friends mains were being brought out so one of my group asked Really nicely if my main could be brought out pronto because she didn’t want me eating on my own, as you would. The waitress told the woman (Who we thought was shift manager) who proceeded to come over in a snotty manner and inform us that my order was placed late so no they can’t because they were “busy” well a restaurant wants to be busy when we’re in a recession and it’s 50% off!! Put more staff on if you know your going to be busy! The night got continually worse, they’d cleared all my friends plates away and I was sat waiting still, after a further 20 minutes a pizza got brought out and shock! It was wrong. I ordered chicken and mushroom and they brought out one with spinach on. We then realised that my friend on the other table had eaten my pizza and they’d brought me hers out but she’d already eaten it half an hour before! Imagine if she was vegetarian eating a pizza as when they brought it they just said “pizza” not the topping as they should. So I sent it back after the waiter said “well what do you want me to do? Which I thought was rude in itself. 15 minutes later the waiter brings me back a pizza which still has spinach on but just chicken sprinkled. I then said to my friends I’ll see if they bring my side order...nope ! They forgot it so after 10 mins I asked for it and the same waiter said “oh god sake I’ll get it now” so off we went and then ANOTHER 10 mins later he brought me my side dish. At this point my friends were all wanting desert so we asked for take out deserts and one to eat in and I asked for take out boxes for all my food as I wasn’t going to finish it there I simply wanted to leave! To top this awful night off.... they ran out of brownies!!! So one of my group had a brownie and the rest didn’t. We got one cookie and one Bakewell which we didn’t rate either.To sum it all up we left extremely unsatisfied and will not be returning any time soon. Appalling service from start to finish. No apologies nobody asked how our meal was. Nothing! We were really looking forward to it and it really ruined our night. The food was average but service was awful.0/10 for Ottos.

Oh DearThe only way to order was via their APP - so job no.1 was trying to install it on our phone without their wifi password being visible anywhere (and we all know that due to their location some phones do not work too well.To be granted the discount you have to place separate orders for everyone in your party so a bit frustrating.We ordered the 3 course deal - and around 30 mins later someone came out to tell us one of the starters we ordered was no longer available so did we want to order something else. I asked what else they had and the waitress couldn't answer as wasn't sure. (so I ordered the same as my friend)Starters came out 15 mins later (and were really nice to be fair!)Then waited another 40 mins after finishing for our mains. Both had pizza - and although OK - not a patch on what they were before lockdown)After this we tried to order our desert (of the day - no where does it mention what it is) - harder than you think. Every member of staff have mastered walking around without looking at a single customer. I shouted excuse me to two members as they walked passed - but they weren't really interested in anybody. (although the second lady did actually stop and tell me it was 'Bakewell tart - is that OK?' well I've paid so it will have to be).The place was busy (but it is small - and there was plenty of staff) - however it was total chaos in there. Plates piled up on the bar - glasses piled high - and no one really helping any of the customers. I'll admit there was one lady running around (still not really engaging with anyone though) - but was totally unhappy, and even mentioned to one customer (I assume she knew them) that she had to try to smile because she'd had enough. What with the COVID worries as well - all the staff were eating nibbles off the bar (including the manger - who came out of the kitchen later in the evening, lifted her visor, put nibbles in her mouth and then put her visor back down. All then handled glassed without washing their hands. Not very hygienic!!Pizzas (main course) were OK - but not a patch in pre-lockdown and desert was OK (but no choices - it was Bake-well tart or nothing)As neither my friend or I had no plans - we were OK - but it took an age to be served (3 hours from start to finish. To add insult to injury - some people were in fact coming in and going up to the bar - and a couple of tables had ordered via the staff and paid by credit card - even though we were told we were not permitted to!!

The afternoon didn't start well because once we'd been seated it was over half an hour before any came near our table. We had to call the only waitress over to ask for a drink only to be told we need to order on the app. Having not been told this we were getting frustrated that we had now been sat over 40 minutes, no drinks or menus.In the end we were given menus. It took over 4 hours to get and eat lunch!Thankfully no one was in a hurry and we soon realised there was one waitress front of house and one waitress bringing food. They were running round constantly. The inside and outside areas were packed.Come on management surely these girls could have some help? You must have known you would be busy with the bookings and government scheme.Lots of frustration amongst the customers too.Nonetheless the food we had was delicious. The chicken was succulent and tasty, fresh salad and wonderful chips. The brownies were chocolatey, crunchy on the outside and gooey in the middle. Nicest brownie I've had.Massive well done to the 2 waitresses today between 12 and 4pm. You both deserve a pay rise and some support!!!

After lovely day out as a family we were looking forward to finishing it with a nice meal...However having arrived at Otto we were shown to our table and proceeded to place our order via the app. Three orders placed separately so we could receive the discount. A bit of a pain but we did it.40 minutes later after placing one of the orders, the waitress advised that one of our starters wasn’t available so we ordered something else. A further 15mins later two of our starters arrived but not the third. So me and my daughter proceeded to eat ours, whilst my hubby sat and waited. Whilst eating my starter of chicken skewers I noticed some of the pieces of chicken were not quite cooked, so I warned my daughter who had the same. Which resulted in her having to spit out one of the larger chicken pieces as she said it was like eating raw meat.My husbands starter still hadn’t arrived so I asked the waitress. She went to kitchen to chase up. It finally arrived 10mins later( so he had been waiting an hour for his) when he bit into the first skewer he said the texture was strange and when he looked the meat wasn’t cooked. He dissected some other pieces only to find some other pieces of meat had raw bits too.By this point enough was enough we just wanted to leave. As after an hours wait to receive uncooked food is simply not on.Therefore I asked if we could cancel our order and we left having been refunded our money.So back home now..starving .after what proved to be a disastrous meal out. Which honestly has ruined my day... gutted.

We visited yesterday for drinks with friends. You have to download and order from the app which is not great, wi-fi is not great and it keeps going back to details you’ve already inputted. AmVery stressful and time consuming, last week when we went they were taking orders from the table using contactless payments but this time we weren’t offered that service. Surely contactless payments is better , not everyone can use the app or wants to.Wasn’t that busy yesterday and I wonder why.I understand they have guidelines but customer service was poor and I feel the staff could have been more helpful.

Well what a shambles you've set up no bar service that's fine but surely a better way of communicating this that the abrupt manner. The so called wonderful App you speak of well I can't find it anywhere on my app gallery what is so difficult about table orders anyway or at least a menu of sorts on you Web page like 1000s of place seem to manage Heres a tip put a link or even description of said app on you Web page I checked not there looked on your insta page hmm a mention but no link or title to search TripAdvisor has you down as shut every day so needs and up date too Only second time I've ever been to your establishment and will be last not for meMuch more deserving establishments around

Rang to book and was told there would be plenty of tables at the time we wanted . When we arrived no tables . Sat outside and had to download the app to order . Was told there was a 40 minute wait for food. Fair enough but the app wouldnt load and they wouldnt let us have a drink whilst we waited , it had to be ordered from the app !!! I know in the current situation things are difficult but after spending 40 minutes sat outside getting distressed by the app and being ignored by the staff . It was time to leave . Been a few times in the past and food is good but we have always had an issue with the staff , no customer service Got a lovely Indian takeaway from next door !!!

Had an Indian on a Monday night and then decided to try this bar afterwards. Didn’t even get in as they had a bouncer on the door who was stopping people entering who had trainers on and not shoes. There was 2 people in there and there was 8 of us who would have probably bought 2-3 rounds. If they want to lose that sort of money on a Monday night for a ridiculous rule then more fool them!!!

The inside of Otto may have had a refurb, sadly some of the staff haven’t. Unless you possess testosterone then the chances of you even being acknowledged at the bar are slim. If by chance you do get noticed then you will be served with a sneer not a smile, almost as if you are greatly inconveniencing the bar staff.There is very little evidence of bar training in how to spot who is next at the appalling effort of a queue at the bar, and don’t get me started on the loyalty cards that have since been abandoned since the refurb.It saddens me that there is no loyalty for people who have supported this business since day one for it all to be thrown away in the blink of an eye.

Heard that this place has got and a new head chef so I had to re visit. Well all I can say is that I have been back twice in one week...absolutely amazing. Fantastic food, packed with flavours and the love is definitely back in this venue. Jo and Jake (Front of house) brilliant. Lovely relaxed service. I was privileged to speak to Mike the new head chef. I had expressed my appreciation of the outstanding food he did for me. He tells me theres more exciting things coming too. I had also spoken to Laila the manageress to say how fantastic my experience has been on both occasions and I wish it continues. She was so nice too and took everything on board. Some of the recent reviews are harsh and I am a big believer that it's best to express your feedback to the people in house than write a review to knock them down! Keep up this amazing transformation and thank you for looking after me. I will definitely be spreading the word.. PS the chef is awesome x

We’ve been coming here since it opened, and always enjoyed the place and the food.However the new menu is lack lustre, with not much choice, and they’ve taken off all the favourites. We’re so disappointed as there’s nothing now I would choose to eat.Looks like we’ll not be going again.

Went for sharing platter this evening with the hubby Didn’t look like the pictures shown and was cold when it came . Very expensive for what it was as it was mainly veg and about 4 roasties to share between 2Pudding had a hair in it ! Thought atmosphere was for drinkers not dinners and the place didn’t look that clean. First time and was disappointed Wouldn’t return anytime soon unless we were just drinking.

Two families with 4 adults and 3 kids. Cute establishment that is meticulously maintained at the front of house. But, menu item missing and the substitute unavailable. An additional side was ordered but after breaking the tacos, they had no substitutes. A starter ordered for one came after all the other parent's had finished their main. And, it took hours to get in and out.Food was decent. Desserts were great. But the service and absence of menu items has to result in a poor ranking.

First time visiting here. Paid £11 for a Cajun chicken burger and homemade chips. The burger was no bigger than a McDonald’s burger. The chips were delicious and homemade, but a small portion. The food tasted good, but when presented, felt underwhelmed. I left feeling still hungry.

Having eaten here 3 times before, was looking forward to my visit and catch up with my colleagues. We were really let down by the poor service, people arriving after us were being served their food whilst we were left sitting there. I eventually went and asked where our meals were, they apologised and said it wouldn't be long. We'd also waited for our order to be taken.When the food arrived it was as good as previous occasions.Think I'll give it a miss for a while and try somewhere new.

Never disappointed with Ottos. Good little place to catch up with friends or go for a quiet drink. Particularly like all the gins they have!

Second visit tonight. I’ll begin by saying it’s a great place with a great menu and fab service. One thing that’s totally spoiled the two visits is the very clear use of the shop round the corner.First time round it was Kingsmill pancakes for our breakfast, paraded through the restaurant as if it were no issue. When you’re paying £5+ however you do expect something better than your bog standard toaster pancakes.What compelled me to write this review is that it happened - again!! This time meringues. Just take a bag with you please, hide the evidence.This place is great but you’re falling short and falling hard. 4/5!P.S. the app is very impressive. Even slicker than the spoons one.

Called today for lunch and a cocktail with my daughter. After spending half an hour trying to order via the new app for 20% discount we gave up and ordered at the bar and paid full price. I ordered flatbread with turkey and pastrami, with a side superfood salad. When it arrived the salad was totally wilted and stuck to the plate, and full of grit. There was a small blob of something like quinoa which was ok but the leaves were so gritty and wilted they were inedible. The turkey meat was ok, although I had to remove it from the flatbread which was hard and stale. Used to love the food here and have brought a lot of friends, but definitely won’t be returning it was awful.

Called today for lunch to have a nice end to the bank holiday weekend. We have to wait an hour for a salad and also remind them to bring the coffees out. The food was basic and over priced and the tables in the seating area outside was cluttered with dirty plates and glasses and needed a good tidy up and wipe, the table we was eating from had crumbs all over it. I will not be eating here again

I have always loved visiting OTTO up until recently. I’m not sure what type of vetting they do on staff but it’s questionable they do any at all. My friend and I used to visit a bistro similar to this in wickersley for a girlie lunch but stopped when we witnessed a certain member of staff (now employed at Otto) taking money out of the till and placing it in her bra. After confronting the manager we were told to basically do one. We have witnessed the lady in question now working for Otto and won’t be returning. Word of advise Otto do your pre-checks or watch your till

Food was good, drinks was good, atmosphere was good however I must say the service from Sue was outstanding, made us feel so welcomed, so friendly and she is just amazing, if nothing else, visit ottos just to meet Sue! Deffo will be back!

Popped in for lunch,farmhouse platter for 2 about £16, very poor, miniscule amount, i could have made it myself for under a £1 , bit of branston & pickle, bit of ham & blue cheese, half pork pie & burnt bread!

Nice interior, but too small and too busy. Cramped and not relaxing inside, because of how busy it is. Nice beer, but a bit over priced.

Have been to Ottos on numerous times due to how good the food is. It’s got a lovely feel to it plenty of outside seating if you have your pooch with you with patio heaters. We arrived and there were a few table taken. The staff member at the bar told us to take a seat and she would come and take our drinks order. The staff were very friendly. Our order for drinks and food was taken. We ordered 2 Chicken burgers and Halluimi fries to share. Food was gorgeous. Chicken was juicy everything was fresh and well presented. We cleared our plates and followed with Coffee. Would definitely recommend. However it does get busy at tea times and weekends

Had not been for a while and came away feeling quality of food has deteriorated. We had the full English breakfast. Sausage pale, thin. Tasted cheap. Bacon thick with white residue. Tasteless. Toast only toasted on one side. Mushroom stale and stone cold. Eggs okay. Still enjoy being at Ottos but in future will stick to just coffee.

Visited here today with family.Food was lovely and nice choice of beers and wine.Prices not cheap but friendly staff and helpful.Only downside is 150 ml and 175 ml measures of wine available no 125 ml measures which I believe it’s against the law re this .But having said that will return .

First time we had visited ottos and we were pleasantly surprised. Food was lovely, staff were very friendly. Prices not the cheapest but not ridiculous. Only downside was that the temperature of the building was freezing throughout our meal.

Nice location in the middle of this lovely village (popular for riverside walks) and the restaurant is well presented with funky decor and lighting but we had a quite rude lady serving us which dampened the experience! Quite busy inside at lunchtime but we got a high table and chairs. Menu looks pretty good with plenty of choice; sharing platters all looked good but we went for chicken and mushroom burgers for the adults and pizza and a kids picnic for our children. Quite pricy but decent quality food. Portions aren’t enormous but adequate. Two young lady servers were lovely but the older lady was clearly in a pretty bad mood!?

On arrival, the Lower seating area was closed, even though the bar was reasonably busy, we had to take a table next to the door, we ordered drinks (delicious gin and a great selection) and food (the mixed sharing platter was really good, very tasty and plenty of it. However at 9.30 a young lad started sweeping up around us and put the chairs in the vacant tables around us (this bar closes at 11pm). We asked if they were wanting us to leave, they said no, we asked them if they minded taking the chairs down, they did, but then continued to clean around us. We really felt unwelcome, and like they wanted us to leave so they could get an early finish. So thanks Ottos, our anniversary meal was spoilt. I won’t be going back.

Upon receiving 3 breakfasts we all noticed how bad the eggs looked before then finding out how cold everything was.Handed them in, but was then brought out a warmer replacement but still not got eggs right ? Gordon Ramsey required. Shame really because such a lovely place. Probably a case of pay peanuts and you get monkeys.

I paid £11.95 for the duck salad today and couldn't believe the size of it when it came out. You can see in the pic how tiny it was. We complained and were offered a free dessert- such a shame as it was very tasty. But felt completely ripped off!

My brother kindly purchased vouchers for a meal at ottos as a present .

I visited Otto's on both Sat 1 & Sun 2 Sept and had really contrasting experiences.

I am sorry to write this and I hope that the right people read it and please don something about it.

This place is dreadfully let down by a lack of good staff training. Poor quality service, where there is no table service, should be easily tackled. I do not want to be called ‘mate’ every sentence, either.

Lovely relaxing atmosphere for drinks with friends. Friendly staff and great service, highly recommend! Great choice of gins too with a different gin of the week each week. Can get busy on a night time

Great atmosphere, great drinks and great coffee but that’s as far as it goes. Don’t eat food there. Gone right downhill on that. Two weeks ago had pork belly and my partner ordered something else. Terrible. So much so the nice chap who knows how poor it is by acknowledging our complaint with a couple of free drinks next time. Clearly got issues in the kitchen or they ain’t bothered

I’ve scanned a few of the reviews about Otto’s and there seems to be a theme...the food is hit & miss. It’s a real shame as the venue itself is great; nice location, good atmosphere & innovative decor etc.

Went to friends in Doncaster for dinner and we decided to go to Otto's to listen to the jazz on Wednesday after our meal. The place was extremely busy, but we managed to get a table outside and as there was no table service, we had quite a long wait for drinks. The jazz was good, although they seemed to have long breaks in-between playing just a few numbers. Staff were run off their feet, but managed to be pleasant and helpful.

Over priced breakfast for what you got. One slice of bread for the toast. Sausage was not even full sized. Even the fried egg was tiny. Tasted ok but not value for money. Wouldn't go again.

Visited here with a friend food wasn’t up to standard .Different staff all the time who spend to much time on phones rather than working .Wont be visiting again such a shame this place isn’t what it used to be sorry guys

I have sat on this review for a week, as I have a tendency to only review places providing a quality service. However, it would be wrong to let our experience pass without comment. My partner and I went to Otto's last Friday, following a meal in the the Boat Inn, also in Sprotbrough. The service couldn't have been more different to that at the Boat Inn. Now Otto's can be very busy, however the staff were shocking, rude and ignorant, not paying any attention to those waiting at the bar to be served and serving in the order they chose, also glaring at and ignoring my partner when he made himself known. Now lets be honest, Otto's bar is not that big, when I was younger I worked in far busier and larger bars in London, but always made a point of keeping myself aware of people who had been waiting at the bar. We decided to leave after 2 drinks, however before we left my partner went up to the bar to complain about this appalling service to what seemed to be female manager, but was told to F off! We will, but we will be sharing our experience.

Not in the slightest bit cool bar in Sprotbrough. No atmosphere, and full of legging clad blokes alongside bleach blond overdressed girls. Not cool, not clever and incredibly rude and undertrained staff. Get with the programme and "sprot" your real money spending customers. Good luck.

Dropped in for a Wednesday lunch and it was quiet so just helped ourselves to a table and ordered sandwiches from the menu - they turned out to be beautiful with a huge side serving of salad.
