I really liked the exotic meat burger, meat... ALL MEAT!!!!! with mac and cheese. one improvement please ☝️... make the cheese more drippy BRUH What Does the 👅 Tongue Emoji Mean?

Dropped in for lunch after visiting their fishmonger place a little further up. Very nice crab sandwich with crinkle cut chips. Reasonably priced. Friendly staff and nice views over the estuary.

Hottest day of the year so we headed for sea side. Never been to Leigh on sea before. This was the first place we came to so went in for a coffee, had a look at menu whilst we did and thought it looked good, so went off around town and the beach then came back for lunch. Sat outside with a view over the sea, I ordered the sea Bream which was on a special and my wife had a pint of shell on prawns and some bread and butter. The sea Bream was perfect, crispy skin and cooked just right. I helped my wife finish the Prawns and the were lovely and fresh. I used to live in Portugal and this was probably the best Fish/seafood I’ve had here in England. Highly recommend and we will be back.

Very nice seafood lovely setting over looking the sea. Fish was all very fresh. Has a lovely holiday atmosphere we will be back. Only draw back people with their dogs barking not having any consideration for other people which spoils it if you want a relaxing lunch.

Disappointing... chips were rubbish overcooked skinny fries. Seafood platter for one tasteless, limited what you could choose on plate. One waitress said choose anything to change the other said limited choice. Nothing special really

Just love visiting No8 Cockleshed, Old Town, Leigh-on-Sea to purchase fresh Manx Kippers for our Sunday breakfast at home. Fantactic quality fish at it's best so much to eat with a slice of wholemeal bread and butter. Visit this local business twice a month mainly for their Kippers and excellent service. At the same time enjoying a dish of Cockles or Brown Shrips. Can't wait until my next visit.

We had toasted crab sandwich.fish platter.chips and poached salmon salad and prawns. coffees and tea.all realy nice .salad was fresh but so much lettuce.would have been nice to have more tomato .cucumber.and other bits. Service was very good.we didnt have to wait for a table which was good.had heaters all on .we all enjoyed it.

We came here for their breakfast menu after coming here and having meals off their main menu. Both our breakfast was nice freshly cooked and delicious staff friendly and very helpful too plus nice to have breakfast over looking the sea . Next time we are in Leigh on sea we would come here again . Best fish restaurant we have found

Enjoyed visiting Osborne's with my family over the weekend. Opted for the cooked mussels which was delicious, my only complaint concerning the food is I wish it came with bread instead of chips to soak up the sauce. Customer service was amazing we was served by a young girl with dark hair and a fringe (I didn’t see a name tag) who greeted us with a smile and guided us through the menu giving recommendations and was all around very attentive to our needs. Only downside is the restaurant itself is outside so during winter it can be cold even with a heater. But overall a very warm and welcoming experience at Osborne's!!

Was in Leigh with a friend for a day out and walked along the water but came back here out of all the choices (the seafood visible in the kitchen looked so fresh & it is a charming location). They aren't licensed but the very friendly lady running front of house said we could bring beers from the pub just opposite. So glad we chose this place. My friend fancied hot food on a cold day and although I usually prefer cold seafood we shared hot seafood platter and chips. They were out of mackerel but replaced with the plumpest tastiest whitebait I've ever had. They bought us loads of dipping sauces. Everything was delicious and fresh and well prepared. Even the salad made with fresh peashoots and the sliced chillis for the gorgeous salt n pepper squid were amazing. And I didn't fancy chips but these were just the best chips! With the wonderful view and the sea air on a January day this was an unbeatable experience with lovely friendly unpretentious service. I don't understand the negative reviews - for excellent seafood prepared by someone who clearly knows what they're doing this was an absolute steal and I only wish there was a place like this where I live (Wivenhoe).

Phoned up to reserve a luxury seafood platter for collection on Christmas Eve. Service was faultless from my social media query, through to my phone call and collection. The seafood was simply incredible quality, great value and stunningly presented. If you want to treat a foodie who loves seafood, this would be a top drawer gift! I often bring my parents here for a lunchtime treat. My Mum had the mackerel salad, my Dad had the Crab salad, and I had the seafood mix sandwich on Granary. We also shared some chips. We have been here on a number of occasions and it just gets better! Staff are all friendly, good size portions and reasonable prices.. We also visit Osbornes fresh fish stall. My Dad is like a kid in sweet shop, he loves choosing his fresh fish , crab & lobster. We will be back again soon..

Seafood was fresh and delicious. Setting on a sunny Sunday was idyllic. Waitress served us swiftly and with a smile. However, the lack of toilet facilities for a restaurant was a red flag for us. There is one unisex toilet, no baby changing facilities, with a broken lock on the door that serves the restaurant, it’s staff and most of the pub gowers adjacent to the restaurant. I didn’t even go in, the stench was overwhelming. As we live an hour’s drive away, we will not be visiting again.

After visiting your shellfish stall on saturday the 14th october 2023 to purchase a pint of cockles a pint of whelks and half a pint of shelled brown shrimps which are now being sold in plastic containers the young lady that served me said the price was £20 I questioned what the price was as only not many weeks ago after ordering exactly the same items the price was I believe £15 the young lady said there had resently been a price increase, Having asked to have the shellfish placed in a plastic bag to take away after opening the bag when I got home I was not very pleased that not only had there been a 25% increase on the shellfish but the pint of containers + the half pint was far from full so therefore did not contain a pint, After visiting your shellfish stall again on Monday 16th to complain not only had I been overcharged for the half pint of shelled brown shrimps which I was charged £5 but showed the young man a photo of the pot of brown shrimps unopened which was far from full which he agreed and offered me a half pint of shelled brown shrimps as compensation which I agreed which this time the plastic container was full which I would have expected to have the first time. I think your staff should be made aware to fill the containers up to the top as I would expect to receive a full pint or half pint having paided the displayed price. Very dissapointed after purchasing my shellfish from Osbornes for over 50 years.

Spent many a lovely afternoon here previously and really enjoyed it. Came yesterday and was really disappointed. When we’ve been previously in really busy times we’ve sat in the sun with platefuls ( proper plates and cutlery )of food and a drinks from the adjacent pub. This time however totally different. Small portions, thrown onto a paper plate. Oysters were taken out of the fridge already opened, they were dry. Red shallots for oysters were brown and soft. Tables were not being cleaned. Place looked dirty. I’m sorry to write this but was really disappointed.

Absolute rip off , 1 pot of what is called large jellied eels , 1 small pot of peeled prawns ……with 2 thimbles of seafood sauce (you used to get the bottle , to put on yourself) 2 cups of tea in cardboard cups ( used to be cup & saucer ) £21.30 …….,,ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!!!!!!!

It’s absolutely horrific! I went on a summers day yet only 3 umbrellas. I ordered a latte and I was served a sachet. Also, water was not served in glass wear but out of a plastic bottle from lidl

Been here a few times now.drove all the way from dunstable,straight to osbournes.they really are the best for seafood.even tried the jellied eels(yuk)but even the eels are good(first time ive tried them).had the fish sandwich,which is a brilliant budget choice.had some crevettes as well,these are the best ive ever had ,anywhere in the world. all very average , the cockles were small with little taste as were the prawns . a disappointment when comparing the quality of seafood that we have enjoyed for many years.

Great selections of cockles, prawns, cray fish tails, and so much more grab a pint at The Crooked Billet to carry over. Friendly staff can help you make the right choice. I went there 3 times, and I'm looking forward to coming back.

As a local I have always enjoyed going down to Old Leigh with my daughter for some seafood. Today the prices are so high it’s cheaper to have lunch at one of the local pubs. Such a shame!

We have been eating shellfish at Osborne & Bros for over 1/2 a century; as did our parents before us. Indeed they were good friends with Cyril and his wife; we would often chat with Stephen… when he a a few moments that is. We suppose progress is inevitable but please don’t forget your roots! Do what your parents and their parents did before them. Serve excellent shellfish, well presented, with a smile and without too much of a wait. Your staff need some training. They seem to have forgotten that they are there to serve the paying customer and provide a great experience, which unfortunately they have not done on recent visits. The queue was far too long. Not enough staff, Surly staff serving from the kiosk with the wrong attitude. They were obviously under too much pressure, having to man the kiosk and serve the new restaurant on the side. Together with plastic bowls and paper plates, not providing serviettes, or a knife and fork to eat the roll mops, just took the edge off the visit. And when I return to get a knife and fork to eat around Mob, a good amount of huffing and puffing from the staff member. Hhmm. Cyril would be turning in his grave.

We will never go back to this place. In a fish restaurant you get boiled or uncooked seafood in a supermarket tray. The taste is blunt, I am sure hospital food taste better! The chef doesn't understand allergies and his grilled sardines are really bad. The waitress doesn't know how to smile and very unexperienced. The chips they served are frozen from a supermarket. Therefore, the service was bad, the food was bad and we feel throwing our £65.00 down the gutter !!!

YOU need to stick to what you know. Seafood always been excellent! BUT this new side to your business isnt great. Odd choices & matched. Trying too darn hard. Portion size inconsistent?! NO china cups? Tea stays hotter in china mugs then paper?cardbard cups? Pricing & qualities not matching up. Fixed menu options on breads. I.E At £8.95 sardines on 1 bit of sourdough N tomatoe slices. Against Salmon & loads of scrambled eggs on 2 pcs toast £8.95????? Next Soft bun with egg, bacon & hash brown? All n this bun? Very oddly presented on a small plate? YES we are locals & wont be going back! Sad as last year we had super chowder there but its changed chef since then.

You get what you expect, lots of places to go on Leigh high street, but here, whitebait is very good, as are cockles and the prawn cocktail. Service was spot on, left us to chat fter food as we met with relatives for a catch up.

I thought as I was on my own this weekend I would walk down to Osborne’s fish shop in Leigh Broadway, I’m a Hugh fan of Osborne’s whether it at the cockle sheds or the shop but on this occasion I feel very let down, I bought the fish pie it was tasteless, bland and made me feel awful not sure what’s got wrong do you not season your meal??

Having been a customer for many years, mainly the fresh locally caught seafood, I decided to treat my wife to some of the hot food they are now offering on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. What a delight! There is a varied menu, but we went for the skewered prawns, with Asian slaw and citrus dressing. Wow! well cooked and presented, with a lovely "kick" to refresh the palate. Great service and value for money, on the bank of the river. Will be trying to visit once a week to try all of the dishes. Can't wait!

Osbornes were doing 'summer nights by the sea' specials, and boy did they get booked up quickly! We were fortunate enough to get a last minute cancellation.They don't have a drinks license, but luckily you can order from the Billet directly opposite. We ordered a bottle of Chapeldown Sparkling wine to go with the most amazing of seafood platter!I really appreciated the generosity of bread- if you wanted more, no questions asked or extra charges, they just brought it! Beautiful sourdough!Our platter consisted of Maldon Rock Oysters, dressed lobster, Cromer dressed crab and crab claws, King prawns, Langoustines, Cockles and shell on prawns. There was a small portion of fries with seaweed salt, but to be honest you wouldnt want any more fries. Beautiful accompaniments of shallot vinegar, garlic allioli, seafood sauce and tabasco.We left with some beautiful chocolate cockles by tempered peach.This night was simply beauty and seamless- service was not rushed, but not painfully slow. Staff were friendly. And the pictures I posted on social media was subject to lots of envy! Please keep these nights up!

Osbornes cockle sheds - we’ve been coming here since dad had his Ford Popular in the sixties. We currently make Osbornes the destination of our walk from Southend - one of us buys the seafood, while the other gets the beers in. We normally have the prawn rolls - you can’t beat an Osbornes roll - cockles, rollmops and this time, shrimps as well. Always fresh, always tasty. We love this place!

The first place I stopped by on my first visit to Leigh, and it guaranteed my intention return! Visited on a Sunday when they had the table service and outside seating (and I believe extended hot menu?). Had a plate of cockles, half dressed lobster, seafood cocktail, Fritto Misto and the Oysters. Not being a particularly adventurous sea-food eater, a lot of these were a first for me. But I felt comfortable trying them here, and I was not disappointed. They were all an absolute delight! The freshness was apparent with every bite, and the sea view and fresh air topped it off. The service was very friendly and efficient too! I'll definitely be back, with more Londoners next time!

Large selection of what appears to be very fresh seafood and fish, I bought a pint of shell on shrimp and a small dressed crab, which was £12. Service is from a roadside window, it is swift and efficient.

Friends recommended this place and we were not disappointed. My husband had the seafood platter (mussels, cockles, prawns and crayfish) and I had crab salad. It was all very fresh and tasty. My husband was very impressed that there wasn't any sand in the mussels or cockles. The staff were friendly and efficient. Reasonably priced and very good quality

Tried the newly added hot food and outdoor seating area for lunch today. Really great they have finally added this and brought to leigh-on-sea's Osbournes a similar experience to what is on offer at Mersea island. Had the hot cockles and fries, oysters, crab salad, and fritto misto. Selection of fish in the misto was good and well cooked, fries were excellent, as was the crab salad. Oysters were not on a par with those available at Mersea, and were not served with shallots, just it seemed some mild red vinegar. But were ok. So food was great overall. Only negatives were the plastic cutlery. Not sure how they can justify single use plastics - there are plenty of alternatives. Also the ordering of alcohol separately from the pub is a bit clunky.

Lovely alfresco seafood lunch. They have all the Covid security well under control and the staff were welcoming and efficient. We do enjoy our now rather infrequent trips to Old Leigh, and will look forward to our next visit to Osborne's; whenever that might be!

Having purchased fish from Osborne’s many times before I was very disappointed at the quality of there jellied eels . They were tough and just not like there usual eels . Are you cutting corners and buying them from Korea ?

The outside kitchen is amazing, food off the planet. Try the cockles and chips! Seating and service brilliant! An absolute must any day if you fancy some delicious food and a great time. They also offer a take out service.

A visit to Osborne's at Leigh is a family tradition. We dont live locally but when he was a child living in East London our Dad visited family who lived there some time in the 1930's. The place made such an impression on him that he wanted to take his kids there some 30 years later, and that's where the tradition began. Sadly both Dad and Mum are gone now but Leigh on Sea, and Osborne's in particular, play a huge part in our family history. Its so good to still see them there in the same place as when we first visited, we just hope they will be there for many years to come. Best of all the seafood is just as delicious today as it was back then.

Our visit to Osbourne`s was slightly off the main thoroughfare at No 8 the Cocklesheds. There we were treated to an amazing display of all the seafood in season you could possibly wish for. The produce available included cockles, whelks, rollmops, jellied eels together with a selection of mackerel, cod fillets, crabs to name just a few. A fishy aficionados paradise. Also available to order were platters of a selection of seafood perfect for any party. Having had our delicious meal at the Peterboat we could not resist the lure of the shellfish available to take home to relive the joy of our visit. Again the knowledgeable staff were available and willing to help with any questions about their wares. Superb!

After a long walk from Thorpe Bay to Leith I stumbled upon this establishment selling all sorts of seafood. Grabbed a half pint of cockles with vinegar & pepper and sat outside on a pleasant winters day. Worth the experience

Me and Becky took Uncle Alan here for a seafood feast and what a great decision it was. The staff were friendly, the views were peaceful, the cost was normal and the whelks, cockles, prawns , crayfish and winkles were fresh, juicy and flavoursome. Best place for seafood for sure

Visit Leigh-On-Sea stroll down the Old Town pop in into Osbornes great choice of sea food. Stunning views of the estuary to enjoy to make your meal even better cross over the road to the Crooked Billet and purchase a glass of wine or a beer. My idea of a very good day.

We had a great selection of all our favourites on Boxing Day from Osbornes as a welcome respite from all the delicious but somewhat festive treats. Have been coming here for as Lon as I remember and never let down.

I always buy a big box of prawns from here for Xmas prawn cocktails can’t beat them . Lovely seafood, crab rolls , roll mops , cockles whelk ., all great always fresh and lovely and clean .

We were visiting Southend and I searched for somewhere to buy fresh seafood and this place came up. Its down in Old Leigh on Sea - which is very pretty with lots of other cafes and restaurants and this lovely little place. We had a plate of cockels and brown shrimp (which I should have ordered ready peeled as theres a knack that I just dont seem to have - but they are delicious. Oysters Prawns Crab Whelks - everything you can imagine is on offer on little plates to have as a snack or made into sandwiches. The inside only has about 5 tables so sharing your space is necessary and makes it more fun. Larger outdoor terrace area would be lovely on a warm day but on a crips November lunch time we were pleased to find a table inside to enjoy our seafood treats. A nice little walk up and down the high street (High makes it sound much grander than it is - its mainly a a row of cottages and three or four pubs . Parking is very limited as is around £1 per hour - 2 hours is plenty of time to eat and see whats there, or park on the road and walk down as its not far. Definitely worth seeking out if you like seafood.

This big shack on the high street of Old Leigh serves great seafood - fresh, simple, reasonably priced.They have plenty of outdoor tables, they do take away, everything is efficient and friendly and informal.Perfect for a light lunch or a big snack or a just a break by the sea.

We arrived in Leigh and first visited the cockle sheds as my hubby and mother in law wanted to reminisce about their childhoods and to see whether much had changed. The Osbourne shop by the sheds was well stocked and clean, later in the day we visited the stall near the Crooked Billet and likewise this was well stocked and the staff were friendly, we travelled home with our prawns and cockles after a lovely day spent in Southend.

osbornes have a fine selection of top quality seafood available , which include the local speciality of freshly cooked leigh cockles and it gets very busy , especially through the summer months - there are plenty of places to sit where apart from the seafood , tea and coffee is served or it is permissable to cross the narrow road and bring back alcoholic drinks from the pub to enjoy with your food.

Absolutely excellent oysters. Right on the money price wise and the service was excellent considering how busy it was.

Lovely sunny day in September, and we sat outside and sampled a seafood platter and fresh oysters. What can I say apart from this is what seafood should be. Amazingly fresh and well priced.

I can only write about breakfasts as I have had two there recently but this is open all day for later dining.Great seafood at good prices and plenty of room outside on both sides of the café .

Great position overlooking the stunning bay and so much choice it all looked amazing. We ordered loads and ate it all the price was incredibly reasonable. It's cash only so be aware

Great place, but gets very crowded as the food is so good Excellent fresh, tasty seafood. Had a wonderful seafood platter for £8.50. Very friendly. Very reasonable. Lovely place to visit near the cockle sheds.

When you think of sea food in Leigh, you think of the Osborne Brothers. Get there early in the day and you get the kings picking of the best sea food in Leigh.

A party of seven, and three generations but the service and staff were lovely, the seafood is so fresh and very reasonable, dressed crab £5.50, crab salad £8 and was lovely, jellied eels, cockles, prawns and even lobster available. Lovely seating area inside and out with beautiful views across the estuary.

We enjoyed a seafood platter for £8.50 (prawns, mussels, crayfish and cockels) and four oysters for about £4. Fish was fantastic! We left very happy! Nice how you can enjoy a pint and bar snacks from The Crooked Billet in the same outside seating area.

We visited some friends in Leigh on Sea recently and on the hottest day of the year, we walked along to Old Leigh with the intention of having lunch at Osborne's. We both love any seafood. My OH and I chose to share a seafood platter, with an added Bismarck pickled herring - all absolutely delicious. Unfortunately our friend is allergic to seafood and had to have a cheese and tomato sandwich!! Such a great place, can't wait to return.

Osbourne Brothers is one of the only places still selling a range of seafood on a Sunday morning in Old Leigh. Perhaps because of a lack of competition, it may account for the slightly high prices. A small dressed crab was £5.50. A paper plate of a small scoop of prawns , a scoop of cockles, a few mussels and a small scoop of crayfish tails was £8.50.

Very nice surprise exploring Leight-on-sea. Good prices for quality see food snacks. ~3£ for small and ~6£ for half a pint + hot food available. You can take drinks in the pub. Pickled mininoctopus and prawns were excellent.
