Orpington GPO in Bromley

Came for Sunday lunch but sadly they don't do it during spring/summer. Mistake on our part. Stayed for a drink though. Really nice place. Friendly and helpful service. Would definitely love to try the food here in the future.

Unsure why GPO is not busier as it’s honestly so lovely. Interior, service and food. Our waiter, Kieran, was lovely, knowledgeable and hilarious. Food was great. Highly recommend the dirty burger and fries. There is also happy hour from 4-6. Whats not to like!

I had an amazing time there with my friends. The service of the restaurant is wonderful.

It was OK, the food was OK but expensive, service a little slow and not much atmosphere. Music and other people very loud…. Hard to hear my friends talk sometimes. My friend had the chocolate torte desert, but couldn’t eat it as it was too hard and dense, the waiter just said sorry! Also as the evening wore on they started to clean the kitchen area and the smell of burning made me feel very sick and the air was filled with smoke (like fog). I won’t be rushing back.

Booked a last minute Sunday lunch here. Was very impressed by the quality of the food and the service. Well worth a visit.

Last night visit was a bit disappointing, Food was cold and bland. Its expensive, would not going back anytime soon.

Kieran is an exceptional host, he joked with the kids, made sure we always had what we needed and stayed calm and happy even though it was very busy for him. The food is always amazing here. The chefs do an amazing job, and if you want a cocktail it’s the best place I know of in orpington.

Went for breakfast 9/11/24 service poor, breakfast was look warm and tasteless. Ingredients being used need to be changed the beans looked dry and no flavour whatsoever very disappointed, because in the past all was excellent.

My mate has just moved to the area and we popped in for the Sunday lunch lovely decor and nice feel to the place service was spot on so was the Sunday Roast only let down was the stuffing ball with was rock hard otherwise it was just what was needed on such a miserable day definitely be back

Sam & Laura made my birthday brunch really special this morning with my sister mum and niece. We were so well looked after and Sam went out of his way to do a birthday dessert plate for us. Laura was really lovely too. Lovely food amazing cocktails and overall a fab brunch. Thanks Sam and Laura x

A beautiful location, decor is stunning and atmosphere is super relaxed. However, the food was a complete let down, being exceptionally bland and lacking any flavour. I had to ask for ketchup and was provided with one small sachet and had to wait until a waitress was close by to ask for more. The food menu was small and the soft drinks and the hot drink options even smaller. There are no options for syrups with coffee and only two milk alternatives.There is a small kids menu with no suitable drink options nor kids cutlery or cups. Not child friendly or lunch friendly. Seems better suited for day and night drinking. Won't be going back.

We went in on 17th July to celebrate my daughter's 18th birthday. Zoe made us all feel welcome and made a fuss of my daughter, which made her feel very special. Due to the high cost of food, we only stayed for a cocktail each and a couple of nibbles. We will return another day for food when there is a deal. It was great that Zoe told my daughter about the pornstar martini and the prosecco. I could have told my daughter but it was a nice touch by Zoe. Considering we only stayed for a drink and nibbles it was a lovely surprise for a plate to come out with a candle and birthday message. Certainly was a wonderful end to a very special day. Thank you

Afternoon visit for non alcoholic drinks and a review of the afternoon's competition. The zero Doombar and Peroni 0.0 were the best options. The atmosphere was light with the pub about a fifth full. The pub has low lighting which makes reading and sharing printed & written documents very hard. We had to sit by a window to see what we were doing, so later in the day or in in the year we could do our review here. Subdued lighting suggest going elsewhere.

Waitress with the personality of a goldfish. Took an age for the food to come. Bland food and Low quality ingredients. AVOID

Love this place. Food is great, staff are chilled and friendly, not too noisy or busy and nice and spacious. Delicious chicken burger and nice steak, if you haven’t tried this place really recommend it.

Worst Sunday dinner I think I’ve ever eaten dining out. Beef far too rare, wouldn’t even hold its shape sliced as so rare was like a pile of mush on plate, not proper roasted potatoes they were dry roasted new potatoes, no taste to them either, carrots and butternut squash were just about ok, spinach not wilted so didn’t seem right on a roast dinner, red cabbage tasteless, weird garlic puree on plate (not everybody would like the taste with their roast dinner) but to be honest it was the only thing with any taste on the plate and finally the worst cauliflower cheese I’ve ever tried, period! Cauliflower wasn’t cooked, lots of sauce that was tasteless and not browned under a grill it was bizarre! The Yorkshire was the only nice thing and gravy was thick as it should be. My husband sent his dinner back. Come on guys a roast is really not hard to get right, it baffles me! This place isn’t cheap either. We tried it and we won’t return. Shame as decor is lovely and I love to see an establishment like this along the high st but its style over substance I’m afraid.

Roomy convenient restaurant in Orpington town centre. A very enjoyable experience.

My husband took me here for a quick lunch as he works nearby. The food was REALLY good and the two people who were serving us were extremely attentive and polite. Fab place. Really spacious inside with an industrial feel and I noticed a private booth that looked cool. I’m coming to visit him more often so I can come here again!! :-)

Lovey roast for me and my family. The staff were helpful. The chicken wasn’t that flavoursome and only 2 roast potatoes was a bit disappointing but overall the roast was good of the family really enjoyed the meat with theirs (they went for all 3 meats). The pork belly bites for starters were delicious! Nice building, good decor and a really nice afternoon out. Would recommend and return when in Orpington visiting family again

Great place for a drink and a snack, but I'm not sure this place can really operate as a serious food pub. Service is usually slow, in part (I suspect) because of the small kitchen. I would like to see them raise their food game, because it's a great spot in a largely average high street...

Customer: How can you possibly screw up chips and focaccia? GPO: Hold my beer! Service is incredibly slow! Starters - chips and focaccia were served cold (40 mins waiting). Was told by staff that they had bigger tables to serve... So we didn't bother getting mains. Food is good, but expect it to take a very long time (with reheating required).

GPO is one of our favourite restaurants to visit in Orpington. The food is top tier quality - there are loads of tasty options catering for a variety of palettes and dietary requirements. Being gluten free, I love coming here as I can enjoy a gluten free chicken burger to die for! The staff are super friendly and accommodating for everything you need. I recommend coming on a Tuesday evening as they do a £12 Tuesday deal where you can have a burger, fries/or salad and an alcoholic or non alcoholic beverage! I'd like to make a special mention to Zoe for the outstanding service we received for our experience. Zoe was attentive throughout, made great recommendations and checked in with us to make sure our food was to standard & that we were enjoying our meal! Zoe is a shining example of amazing customer service which is so rare to find nowadays. Thank you Zoe - we will definitely be coming again soon!

Pretty slow service and food was not amazing

Had a large family Christmas Day dinner at GPO and it was perfect. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere . The staff were just amazing . The food choice and quality was out of this world and they didn’t serve small portions. It was so good that we already want to book for next year. I absolutely want to thank all the staff that served us and those who worked hard behind the scenes to make our party of 16 be able to spend Christmas altogether , something that would have been to hard to do at someone’s home. Absolutely perfect

Expensive pub grub, the service was very slow. The food was OK, but it was a bit too greasy. Asked for condiments, received none. Drinks expensive. Patio lounge wins hands down.

Food is always excellent, service has always been friendly and prompt; i took a star off as I find the atmosphere just a little ‘off’ and can’t really put my finger on why. Maybe the decor, the music; the sparse layout, not sure, but would recommend.

Went to Orpington GPO for the first time for Sunday lunch. My friend only eats burger and chips which were not on the lunch menu but the kitchen were extremely obliging. I had the Beetroot Wellington. One of the best vegetarian/ meals I have had and did not expect such high quality in Orpington. The restrooms are spacious and clean. The staff are pleasant but not well trained. Had to walk to the bar to attract attention to be seated. Our finished meal was left on the table while the bill and card machine were brought to the table. There did not appear to be a Manager or senior waiter on the floor to oversee the restaurant. Given the length of the restaurant, staff clustering round the bar cannot monitor customers. I would definitely return for the food but, I hope, service improves.

Good experience, with a brilliant, relaxed atmosphere. Usual pub food handled very well, and welcoming staff on hand to help.

We have been here a few times and went again on Sunday for a roast. Every time we go the food and drinks are really good and the service is super friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. We will be going again soon, keen to try wings Wednesday!

We recently had a reservation for a group of 22 people, and I must say, everything went incredibly well, just as we had hoped. I want to give a special shoutout to Sam and Tom for taking care of all the arrangements, as well thank you to the lovely ladies who served the delicious food. And the guy at the bar who made some truly amazing cocktails/drinks for everyone! The food itself was exceptional, and the atmosphere was simply perfect – wonderfully beautiful and not too noisy, making it easy for us all to chat and thoroughly enjoy our evening.

Had a lovely time at Orpington GPO. Would highly recommend GPO cheeseburger with blue cheese. That was a treat to my taste buds. Cheesecake not sure of as the texture differed from what I'm used to. You will enjoy it if you like it sweet 😋 Drinks were great and customer service was outstanding.

Lovely place, excellent service.

It's a lovely venue, thoughtfully designed with nice industrial touches. Seats are comfy and it's conveniently located in the centre of Orpington high-street with plenty of parking nearby. Entrance is wheelchair accessible and everything is clean. Staff were very pleasant and helpful - offering us some water as we sat down is a big plus (they didn't try to sell us bottled water). The food is a bit over-priced (£15 for burger and chips for example) ...but everything is these days. My only criticism - the burger patty was very dry. The other ingredients (roll, bacon, cheese, chutney) were lovely but the burger probably needs a higher fat content to keep it juicy. Chips were brilliant. My only other complaint (and happens all too often) is the difficulty in getting a bill and then paying. In the end I gave up and paid at the bar. The hospitality industry is really struggling at the moment with staffing post Brexit and I suspect this is the issue here.

Well appointed restaurant in the lovely surroundings of the old Orpington Post Office. I was part of a large group when I visited and the experience may well be different in a smaller group. The staff were lovely and the service attentive yet respectful. The food was ok, but was a little under-seasoned, but I appreciate catering for a large group. Most of us had roasts, which came with plenty of veg and potatoes on the side.

Unfortunately my wife who has Celiac disease was extremely sick after eating here having had an allergic reaction from the Crème Brûlée. The waitress and chef assured us at the time it was in fact gluten free (even though it was not highlighted as gf on the menu) as there were changes being made to the menu. Needless to say my wife was sick the entire evening once we got home for a good few hours. Not nice especially as she is 5 months pregnant!

We went for a pre dinner drink on a Friday evening and we were early enough for the happy hour which we were not aware of. The staff were excellent providing a great service and the atmosphere was nice.

Went on a Wednesday night, and it wasn't very busy, so no real atmosphere, but that was fine for us. Staff were really nice and welcoming, quick to take our order. Everything arrived in good time, and the food was really good. Only thing we ordered which wasn't up to par was the cripsy squid, it was very chewy, but other than that, it was a fantastic meal.

Tuesday burger night - great value and really tasty.

Went for Sunday lunch and we both had the pork. It was very fatty and the skin was soft and not crispy and the meat was a measly amount. Thank goodness we had the vegetables.. Very disappointed

I travelled down from Hull and needed to find somewhere the team could work. I called up in advance and Sam was more than happy to facilitate this at short notice. On arrival, we received a friendly welcoming from Sam who offered us an office room on the side of the venue which was really ideal for us. We received great and attentive care from the staff making it a nice experience for us throughout. We will most definitely be coming back if the team meet up in Orpington again. 5 stars all day.

This bar is an excellent addition to Orpington high street, and a good alternative to Pato. But the cherry on top is the service, I have a dairy intolerance and it wasn't clear what I could order on the menu. A member of staff who's name I unfortunately did not take, made the effort to go through the menu and mark exactly what I could and couldn't eat and what alternatives they had. This level of service is unheard-of!

A decent place in the old post office. Their prices are more than I would like, but the quality of the food i had wasn't bad. I would come here for a catch-up with a friend or similar occasion - But i wouldn't dine here for dinner. There are plenty of other options on the high street. The decor is industrial and feels a bit like an IKEA showroom, which isn't bad per se but is what it is. Service wasn't bad though, which is a nice change, as places that tend to have this type of cuisine and design are horrendous and focus more on publicity and Instagram than food or service.

Sadly they had run out of roast beef so I'd probably get there a bit earlier next time but the pork belly was soooo yummy! I recently had my 30th birthday at GPO and it was brilliant. The prices are really reasonable and the service was second to none. I’ve been a number of times for food and drinks and everything has always been great. I would hugely recommend hosting a party here as it has such a large space and the team make everything so seamless for you. It was brilliant! Shout out to Tia and Jo for making my party planning and the actual event so easy!

Friday night out with four girl friends in this curious faux industrial setting with miles of pipework and ducting on display. We had pretty chaotic service albeit with great enthusiasm and smiles but with long waits between asking for things which never turned up and ordering. Lighting was incredibly poor and sound was cranked up a notch too high so we spent a lot of time leaning over our food trying to hear each other. Three of us ordered butternut squash caesar salad - some items were off the menu - which was basically a huge pile of spinach leaves, a few chunks of cooked cold squash and two small slices of goats cheese and no dressing at all. We asked but none was forthcoming. I think the staff are trying hard but we won't go back. Shame as I think the setting has potential.

I was gifted a £50 voucher for my birthday in August 2022 and went to book a table on the 30th April 2023, unfortunately my voucher expired 17th April 2023. I humbly explained to the staff my error in presuming the voucher expired in August. The supervisor could do nothing to help with this, and offered no gesture of goodwill. They made me feel like they had no time for me, which was upsetting as I live in Orpington and have been to GPO many times.

I visit GPO on a regular basis and highly recommend the service and food. Place is managed well and the high standards sustained at all times, very clean, and organised.

This was one of our favourites for a roast. But the music is so loud You can’t speak to the server. The place was empty after singer did the first Set. it used to be packed out. You don’t need the music it was good enough food and drink. Ditch the singer and let the Food and drink shine through. No customers seemed to be enjoying the music. Shame a great food and drinks

Called in Sunday afternoon for a drink and stayed for 4 as the atmosphere was cracking. Jo and her staff, the live music (Devanna) and all the customers were a total blast. If you could bottle this you would make a fortune!!!
