Really love restaurant and amazing food!

Absolutely ruined Xmas eve. So so so bad.

What a disappointment. It's as if the time stood still, and they are still stuck in the early 90s. Dated decor, typically boring menu and tired staff while the prices rival fine dining establishments. It is a common misconception that they are cheap, with expensive prices for mediocre, tasteless food. What a con! And to top it all, there was no ambience with an empty room throughout the evening, making us feel conscious of the staff hanging in the corner.

NOT A BENGALI restaurant, yet a friendly regular British food joint. I didn't enjoy the bland food but I understand that the flavours were altered for Western palates. Why I am writing this review is because we had really gone all that way for a Bengali restaurant and there was nothing Bengali about the food. Not the South Indian papad (Bengalis have a whole range of fried foods), not the dry powered spices packed rice passed off as Biryani (not even Hyderabadi biryani), surely not the saag paneer (cottage cheese in spinach) which is a traditional north Indian dish but has a lot more character than just cottage cheese pieces tossed about in spinach lumps or stuffed parantha (another North Indian - not the mix vegetable stuffed parantha though). Even though all the food we had, along with the options on menu, are 'Indian', none of it was made very well. I understand that the restaurant is at the heart of the local community here and I hope the management chooses a more sensitive and authentic naming convention, along with a much-needed overhaul of the kitchen.

So iv been here a few times now and iv got to say the food it’s very very good. The restaurant is nice and dark lovely friendly atmosphere service is really good and the owner is really friendly. I would definitely recommend to go you wont be disappointed AMAZING indian food.

I have walked past this Indian restaurant many times and have never thought to go in mainly because it looks quite dark and is sandwiched between a fish and chip shop and another nice restaurant with outside dining covered in by awnings. However my husband and I had been for a drink in a local pub and were hungry so we decided to see if it was open. It looked closed as it was dark inside. A gentleman opened the door for us and showed us to a table. Then the waiters took over and gave a first class service. They were extremely attentive without being annoying. We didn't have to wait for anything...they were well on the ball. It filled up very quickly so we knew this was a little gem in Chislehurst to eat. The food was amazingly authentic and very tasty. I wanted more but was too full to finish so we took home what we left for a midnight snack!! We will definitely return to this great restaurant that isn't full of bling, fancy lighting or fancy decor, but is clean, tidy and basic but full of charming waiters, a relaxing atmosphere and fantastic food. I went to this restaurant last December and this is the BEST INDIAN IN CHISLEHURST! I ordered a vegetable thali costing me £13.50. And separate paratha £3.50. It tasted really delicious and full of flavour like they cooked this food with so much love it tastes so perfect. This is great quality for just cheap bucks. Went with my partner after reading the good reviews and we definitely made a very good choice. Food was really tasty chicken was like butter I had a chicken shashlik my partner had chicken jalfrazi Nan bread was so fresh as well as all the side dishes plus they had a very good wine menu. Service was really good and very friendly restaurant had low lighting and that made the ambiance even better *definitely recommend *

We booked here on a whim a few days ago and I have to say, it was one of the best Indian meals I have ever eaten. The staff made both me and my partner Curries that weren't on the menu, my word were they delicious. We were in there a long time chatting and really enjoying ourselves. Our waiter was glorious, attentive and kind. Go here, you won't regret it. Edit, went back for new years eve meal - despite being the busiest restaurant I have ever been in, the service and food was impeccable. Cannot fault these guys.

Been here a couple of times now. Food is quite bland and dry. Very dry, tough chicken. Quite expensive too for a basic curry. Pleasant, attentive staff though.

Not what it used to be. The food was average and the atmosphere was zero.

We came in for our reservation at 8:30, when they told us to come back in 20 minutes. When we came back, they told us they can’t get the people off of our table, no explanation whatsoever. We were basically just turned down at the door after talking to them and booking our tables in advance. Absolutely shocking. We went there many times, and this was just unacceptable. 100% not coming back.

Nice friendly clean restaurant and with excellent service. The food however was bland and below average, which was disappointing bearing in mind the high end prices.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening at Shaon. From the moment we walked in we were treated brilliantly, with warm poppdaoms and friendly staff. Every single dish was great and very warm / fresh. We left talking about how it was the best indian we had tried - will definitely be returning.

I have been going for many years (more than 20). It never disappoints. Food is good, service is good always friendly and menu is excellent. I thoroughly recommend tandoori but any of the dishes are excellent.

Popped in late last night just when we thought they were closing but they allowed us in. We had the butter chicken and chicken tikka masala, both very good and generous portions. Staff are always super friendly, we will return. Apologies if we were a little loud lol.

They used to be good but not so anymore :) terrible service. They don’t treat you well always commenting bad things. The food portions have gone smaller and the food isn’t that nice anymore plus they take hours to serve you your food. A very slow service

We really enjoyed our curries from Shaon tonight and can’t wait for lockdown to end and we can take our familiar seats in the restaurant. So pleased that Abdul is on the mend after a really tough battle with Covid. Keep supporting Shaon as a takeaway and we’ll be back to normal soon

Unfortunately this restaurant has gone down hill of late. The food quality was fantastic but is slipping and I have now noticed they have reduced their portions sizes (containers were literally a quarter to half full) and limited the amount of meat in dishes ( think I spotted two pieces of lamb in my biryiani last time), still charging the same prices however!! The owner is also too tight to implement a delivery service which shows their lack of foresight and intention as a business. Unfortunately I am now going to other restaurants. A shame because it’s not the food just the standards and penny pinching

Very great service with very polite members of staff taking orders over the phone. The food was prepared a lot earlier then said over the phone which was very impressive for a Saturday night. The food was of high standard and i would recommend Shaon to anyone who asks about it.

The restaurant was extremely busy as it was the last night before lockdown again, the owner had been taken ill and was in hospital, so his son (who doesn't normally work there) had to take control. The staff come into their own at times like this, and we were made to feel welcome and special, even though our table was no where near ready. The food is delicious and the service, i think, is top notch! I have been here on numerous occasions but the ladies i was with hadnt, all would go again and i would recommend Shoan 100% for everything, service, food and price! Wishing Abdul a speedy recovery from Covid!

Dined in here whilst visiting friends, social distancing was in effect and was very well organised. The chicken shashlik was one of the best I have ever had! I knocked off one star only because the sag paneer was not so great but still acceptable ( I wish the paneer was cubed) All in all this is a very good restaurant well worth a visit.

Not only after being told our food would be ready in 30-35 mins, we had to wait an additional 20+ mins within the restaurant being looked upon unfavourably by the impolite staff. When we finally got the food home, not only was our order completely messed up with food dishes swapped for what we actually ordered, the dishes we received were so bad and bland tasting it actually ruined my appetite. We had heard great reviews about this restaurant and how amazing the food was but that must have been a one off as this was terrible. Food is over priced, with unrecognisable ‘Indian’ dishes - massively disappointed. If you want good Indian food, I’d suggest elsewhere - even a supermarket curry would be better.

Ive been here a couple of times. You can tell the food is made freshly. Even though the main meal takes ages it is worth it to wait ages for. I would wait a year to get quality food and this place does that they value quality over time. Best in neighbourhood food everything cooked properly.

Hi we had a table booked for 7.30 we waited to be shown or even acknowledged for 15 minutes after which time a waiter asked us if we had booked we said we had for 7.30 and he said well you have booked for 6 and its 8 now (it was 7.45 now) then another waiter appeared and we were shown to a table no apology!. Eventually we were asked it we wanted to order drinks and told the waiter yes please and my husband said and we are ready to order our food. He ignored the food order request took our drinks order and off he went. The drinks were brought to us and we waited and we waited whilst numerous takeaways were sent on their way past us. Eventually our food order was taken. We got our starter and then waited over an hour for our main meal only then prompted by my husband having to go and ask who was in charge and enquire when our meals would be coming. There was no asking if we wanted another drink at all and even after our meal was complete we were not asked if we wanted a dessert or a coffee. At no time did any waiter apologise for the delays the way we were treated was a disgrace. We have been to this restaurant many times so they know us by sight and the service has always been very good and the food very good too. Tonight the service was a total let down although the food was very good. Maybe they should have concentrated on serving customers in the restaurant and not on takeaways then it would not have taken 2 and 1/2 hours for a starter and main course.

Hidden gem, the best Indian of the wide selection in Chislehurst, don't be fooled by the small and humble restaurant, the food is delicious. I usually have the Shah Guataba - a fantastic lamb and honey curry that I haven't found anywhere else.

Worst curry I have had in a long time. Lamb pathia was chewy lamb covered in a strange thick onion sauce, nothing like a pathia should be. Vegetable curry was incredibly bland with no sauce

Fantastic curry, not greasy or oily like other places and is also loaded with flavour. The staff are incredibly friendly too.

The chicken was dry and chewy but the stars are all for the service. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating however the indian down at the parade is better foodwise

Food very nice, steaming hot. Service very good. However when the bill came up it was handwritten and not easy to decipher as not itemised either. So best to keep a count of how many drinks you have.

This restaurant has amazing service. These gentlemen are attentive and generous, helping mum and welcoming her back like an old friend - not eaten there for several years! The food was generous, well cooked and tasty. The only thing which may have helped was that we managed to order 2 chicken dishes which were rather similar, this would have been good to have pointed out. Otherwise, great experience with Grandma and 2 teenagers.

Food is good quality but it is very expensive for what is essentially the same as 90% of all other Indian restaurants. Was something like 12.95 for a chicken jalfrezi. Go elsewhere.

Ate here as a group of four on a Saturday evening. The place was full which is usually a good sign. And don't get me wrong, the food was pretty good. Nothing mind blowing but the portions were generous and it was all served steaming hot and in decent time.The trouble started when the bill came. We had ordered some beers and soft drinks during the meal. When the bill came the drinks were not itemised. It simply said "D" for drinks and then the total. Which looked very high. So we asked our waiter and he said we had ordered X number of beers and soft drinks. We disagreed and counted back. None of us are big drinkers and seeing as no one in the group had had more than two drinks it became pretty obvious that there were too many on the bill. So we pointed this out.The waiter shook his head and said, point blank, "you had more drinks than that".We politely insisted we didn't."No" he said, "you all had at least 3 drinks each".The manager intervened. Said his waiter never lied or made a mistake (hmmm').We said, we didn't say he was a liar, we said he has made a mistake.Manager says, "Fine, fine. I will take the extra drinks off the bill..."And as he is about to walk away says, "but you did have those drinks, didnt you?"Not the way to handle a customer complaint I'm afraid. Basically he implied (more than implied) that we were lying and trying to pull a fast one. We weren't. And up to that point had been happy with the service and the meal.So we paid, no tip. Reputation of restaurant tarnished. And all for what? Stubbornness? Lack of customer service training? Or does it go deeper? Is it common practice to try to overcharge customers and then protest (too much) when the customer queries it? Who knows. It goes on.So if you eat there, you'll get a good meal. But check the bill!

Me and my partner went here for the first time friday evening, I rang at 5pm and we managed to get a table for two for 7.00. It was already pretty busy when we got there, we was seated straight away, the food was delicious and full of flavor, not a trace of oil anywhere, i had the tandoori king prawns, five juicy prawns on a bed of onions and peppers, my partner had the chicken vindaloo and boy it certainly hit the spot, i only had a little taste as its way to hot for my palette, but my partner said it was very good. We had mushroom rice which was fluffy and tasty, spinach, potato and mushroom bhajis, we have tried all the other Indians in chislehurst and this was just as good as the more expensive ones up on the parade.. we came home with a doggy bag. As we couldn’t eat it all.. one other thing the nanns are the best I’ve ever had.. light fluffy and hot.. the only thing that we was disappointed with was our two poppadoms we had for a starter... unfortunately they were a bit stale, they defiantly wasn’t fresh, but i didn’t want to start complaining as soon as we got in there! i thought i would try the rest of the meal before making a full judgement, we will defiantly go back and hopefully the popadoms will be fresh, if not i will tell them, but this wont stop us returning to see if the food is constantly good... well also be ordering a take away from here the next time to see if its just as nice. They do not deliver though! Thats a bit of a shame as i am sure they would be very popular as word of mouth with our family/friends is something we listen to... maybe this could be an option in the future..

We had booked a table for 7.15pm. When we arrived we were asked to wait, after which we were told that the table was not available for another 45mins or more.I wanted to take my family for a nice meal, so we left to see if we could find another table in an indian restaurant in Chislehurst. We could not find one as expected on a Saturday night, so no meal and ended up heading home. Very poor service and we will never return.

Best service and curry ever.... have been going for years with both family and friends - we refuse to go to any other Indian .... and that’s the truth. Abdul and his team are the best at what they do can’t revommend enough

We live locally but have only recently discovered this restaurant. The service is a bit erratic but the food more than makes uo for that. Large portions, good quality. Small restaurant so book in advance.

Food good, service brusque and offhand. There’s lots of competition in this area of London, and I’m not sure I’ll be going again.

I was late on Saturday coming out of London around half ten and the gentleman here at Shaon we're extremely welcoming and committed to excellent customer service. The food was really great and I would highly recommend anyone from families to couples and single travellers like me to visit and enjoy the experience here. Thank you all for making my first visit in your restaurant a humbling one. Look forward to returning again soon.

Just passing by after seeing a friend and went in to get a bottle of coke and bread for my daughter and the service and staff was amazing! Have never eaten in there before but could tell it was amazing as it was full up with people. Would definitely recommend Raza Miah

Shaon never disappoints, Abdul and his team are welcoming and professional and the food is gorgeous.They serve different dishes and they are super-love the chasnidag. Highly recommend.

First time visit on a Saturday at 8, and the restaurant is boisterously busy, with one table seating a party of 20! This didn't impede the service, and the menu featured the usual standbys and exotic choices. Breads were good, rice fluffy and meat dishes tasty, with the Achari chicken the best. Well done Shaon!

20 plus years of excellent food and service

Went there recently with my husband and kids. Was greeted by a manager Abdul. Food was great, but the service was appalling. The manager Abdul was eating himself whilst his customers were waiting over an hour for starters, let alone the main course!!. We made a complaint to him and all we got for our troubles is an lousy apology, thwn it was back to the food for him. Never again!!

Again, the nth time we went there and came out saying- always liked the place. Its a bit expensive, but offers a decent place for Bengali curry. I would usually focus on land and fish, but my kids order chicken. When you are out of options, it works

Sharon is a regular venue for our curry night, always excellent food and warm welcome from the staff. You will also get advice on what to order if you are not au fait with the menu.

Good food. Piping hot. Great service. Very clean and hot plates to eat from. Staff very attentive. Taking a doggy bag home is the norm.
