Excellent food but need a renovation or moderation

Very tasty food and friendly staff. I had the chicken kway towe which was very good.

Good place to try out South East Asian food. I prefer having malaysian chicken curry, singapore fried rice, chicken basil and red thai curry. Some of the starters are also nice.

A hidden little gem! Really, really good. We love southeast Asian food and found this place by coincidence while cruising Orpington. The green Thai curry I ordered was excellent and the Wonton soup was hearty and full of balanced flavors. The mixed starter platter nice, but next time I will order the delicious soup as starter instead

Poor service. Accepted our order, then cancelled over an hour later without reason, too late to order anywhere else. Won't be using them again

Lovely interior and piano music, everything came out in a timely manner, waiters really nice and attentive, food is really delicious and just the right portion! Drinks also really nice!!

This place is a hidden gem in Orpington and deserved to be known. We went there 3 times already and they were able to maintain the quality of their dishes. We’d recommend their Indonesian/ Malaysian dishes, such as Indonesian fried rice and roti.

The food was incredible! I will say it was very spicy but I still enjoyed the food and I'm sure others would as well. The service was quick and we were able to take our food home

Serving some of the more popular Malaysian, Thai and Chinese dishes, the food is good and portion sizes good. A nice touch is that they put the chilli powder on the side of dishes for you to mix yourself depending on how spicy you want it. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere comfortable. Even though it falls short of a 5 star, I wouldn't hesitate coming back here again.

Amazing place to get authentic South East Asian cuisine! Reminds me of home. My favourite dishes to get are nasi goreng, beef rawon and cashewnut chicken.

Reasonably price with delicious food that out of this world.

I spent a lot of time working in the Netherlands and acquired a taste for SE Asian food which is quite limited in London apart from a couple of restaurants in town. So I was delighted when Joy Kitchen opened locally. The food is excellent, the owners and staff very welcoming and friendly and they have survived lockdown etc. which is a measure of their quality. I always notice the number of Asian people dining there which is always a good indicator. For anyone who likes this type of food I would thoroughly recommend a visit.

Never tried here before so only orderd small. Been living here 6 years and asking myself why i hadn't tried here sooner its delicious oh my and the roti with the sauce 🤌🏻. Will be ordering again when i get the chance Thank you joy kitchen.

Shocking is all I can say, the food was adequate, having been to Thailand and eaten and loved the food this was nothing like authentic Thai food. Service was shocking. Advice stick to take away only. Left having not received 3 of our meals.”

I did have joy in this restaurant the food is really tasty and there's ample amounts at reasonable prices. A glass of wine won't break the bank either. My fellow diners were also satisfied.

Beef Ho Fan tasted like a burnt wok and had burn bits in it, not enough seasoning and taste aside from burnt. Malaysian and Thai Red Curry sauce are incredibly watery, with hardly any chicken or veg in it. Not impressed with the quality of the food. Joy kitchen did not bring joy.

It's food of animal not for human being

Very attentive service and good food dining in, but the quality is lacking with the takeaway service - on 2 occasions we’ve been delivered takeaway orders of overcooked rice dishes (nasi goreng). Do yourself a favour and eat in!

The katsu tofu curry was delicious. Also, the special fried rice with King Prawns. Kids enjoyed the satay chicken skewers and vanille ice cream

All of the food was absolutely incredible! Our table of 3 enjoyed the hot and sour soup and the Vietnamese spring rolls to start off, followed by the tofu pad Thai, pho with chicken and the beef ho fun. Happily satisfied, definitely recommend if you're in the area!

Just went there today for lunch. All I had was Egg Fried Rice. Although minimal I have to say, that was one of the blandest Egg Fried Rice I've had. No idea how this place is rated 4.8 out of 5. Bless the young guy at the counter but he didnt even know the menu prices. Then I enquired about a Prawn Fried Rice... I have to laugh but £11.95 😂 But back to the Egg Fried Rice luckily it was only £2.95 but I have to give it 4 out of 10. Minimal flavour, no love, no passion, portion size didnt even fill the container. Utterly disappointing.

Delicious food and friendly staff! The Roti was the best we've had since our trip to Malaysia a few years ago, and everything was tasty and well presented. Would definitely recommend!

Takeout - tasted re-heated, runny katsu, dry rice, dry chicken - clearly not fresh, low quality, lifeless (gave them a 2nd chance after previous disappointment and I regret it..)

Service was good,reasonable priced. Good Portion size. I love the southeast Asian cuisine , Laksa, chicken satay skewers and Roti with curry dip were good. the salt and pepper squid, Tom yum prawns rice noodles were not recommended. I Cannot taste the salt and pepper in squid ( or maybe you can request more?), Tom yum soup rice noodles taste like tomato soup with some chilies, maybe it’s original Tom yum but I prefer the Thai style if you don’t see it as Tom yum soup then it tastes ok just because it’s not the Tom yum soup that I normally have. We had the Teh tarik but it tasted very chocolatey. Overall was good. Will still come back for More laksa 😊

Best Asian food in Orpington. Fried Rice, Chili paste and Home made spring rolls so good. You can ask them to make it HOT and SPICY!!! Will come back here everyday if I can 😋😋😋

Dined here last night as a party of eight. The food was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. Very friendly service. I have not tasted a better Beef Rendang outside of Malaysia, a country that I have visited many times.

Came here for the first time. We decided to eat in. The place was nice and clean. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The food came at a decent time and most importantly was pretty good! Happy customer, will come again!

I ordered a Vegetable pad Thai there this afternoon for takeaway and it was absolutely delicious, one of the best ones I’ve had in a long time. It had plenty of flavour and the portion was a decent size. Will definitely come back again

Plenty to choose from. Restaurant clean, well presented, & tables well distanced. Staff very polite & couldn't be more helpful. No long waiting for food, particularly as the restaurant was filling up quite nicely early. Good mix of 'happy' 😉 diners.

We have been eating at Joy for several years now and the food has always been excellent and the service friendly and efficient. Today we ordered takeaways to celebrate a family birthday. The food was so tasty and great helpings. It was a real treat and we can’t wait to be able to go back to the actual restaurant. Really pleased that the owners have managed to survive during these very difficult times.

Joy Kitchen is wonderful. Lovely food, great authentic taste: an interesting menu with lots of choice. We discovered Es Cendol, which is now a family favourite. Friendly staff. Good location – you can park nearby, for free, in Tesco. We went there quite a few times before lockdown and enjoyed the restaurant. Now takeaway through this period, but the quality of the food is still as good.

Amazing food (felt like homemade food) and very friendly staff. I tried out a dessert called 'es cendol' for the first time and it was delicious! Definitely recommend a visit.

Ordered a rendang beef with rice tonight for takeaway. Turn out only 1/3 of the take away box is full and only 5 pieces of beef inside the box. Taste is okay but 11.55 pound is too expensive.

This place is worth giving a shot. They serve large portions for convenient prices. Regularly well kept and with great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

I ordered the Malaysian chicken curry and the salt, pepper and chilli squid as a takeaway. There is noting Malaysian about the curry, it’s just chicken breast in a “curry” soup. They also added potatoes to the curry which is not standard of Malay cuisine. Maybe trying to mop up excess salt? The squid was disappointing too, just frozen deep fried squid that had been overcooked. The salt, pepper, chilli and onion mix was just tossed absentmindedly over the squid. You’re better off ordering at Sun Moon Lake, their food is better seasoned and closer to “authentic” Asian food for a takeaway in orpington.

Vinimos aquí hace un año y la comida y el servicio fueron excelentes, pero esta noche sentimos que el servicio fue terrible. Habíamos reservado en línea y cuando llegamos nos llevaron a nuestra mesa. Sin embargo, luego nos ignoraron durante un tiempo y, al final, después de intentar desesperadamente detener a un servidor, logramos pedir bebidas. La velada continuó en esta línea sin que nadie viniera a pedir nuestra comida o luego nos preguntara si queríamos más bebidas. En cada ocasión, durante la noche, teníamos que llamar constantemente a un servidor para que viniera a nosotros, lo cual no fue fácil, ya que seguían caminando sin mirarnos.Una decepción, ya que el servicio la última vez fue excelente. El restaurante estaba medio lleno y había muchos camareros, por lo que no podíamos entender por qué el servicio era deficiente. Me temo que tendremos cuidado de ir allí en el futuro.

Great little resturant, parking is best in the Tescos around the corner. Food was delicious and service was great.

Sadly a very disappointing takeaway. Spring rolls were soft and soggy, chicken satay was dry and Malaysian curry was bland and very salty. Prices were too high considering the quality. The ribs were the only redeeming feature.

Ordered the red curry, pad Thai and the mixed starter. We were disappointed with the starter. The chicken satay was chewy, and everything else on the platter was quite oily. The red curry came with rice. Very authentic flavours and quite chilly. Enjoyed it. The pad Thai was very nice.

Pedí comida para llevar durante el encierro que llegó a casi 40 y estaba un poco confundido cuando el conductor de la entrega me entregó una pequeña bolsa ligera. Faltaba un arroz y, en general, aunque la comida era deliciosa, no había mucho allí. Después nos moríamos de hambre. Tan decepcionado después de esperar toda la semana por nuestra comida para llevar, definitivamente no volveré.

We visit Joy regularly, at least twice a month. The food is consistently excellent and the service friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit. Explore the menu as well, lots of really tasty food that you might not normally come across, the soups are great, curry laska particularly so.

The food is lovely, always hot, presented nicely and the staff are very courteous. What I also love is the fact nothing is greasy and always seems freshly made..the duck spring rolls are great even the prawn crackers seem home made..Great place not pretentious just nice..

Hemos estado yendo a Joys Kitchen durante algunos años y, aunque siempre deseamos que tuviera un mejor ambiente, la excelente comida aquí nos ha hecho volver. Pero después de la experiencia de esta noche, nunca volveremos. La comida llegó 2 minutos después de ordenar - directamente del microondas al plato. El anacardo era absolutamente insípido y luchamos por encontrar mucho pollo, y el Rendang de carne era trozos de carne masticable en salsa. El servicio fue impactante, nadie se molestó en preguntar cómo estaba nuestra comida, las mesas no estaban despejadas por años. La mejor parte de nuestra comida fue la botella de vino tinto. Qué desperdicio de una noche fuera.

Normalmente como aquí cuando visito Orpington y hoy llevé a mi esposa e hijos. Excelente comida, tuvimos el Kway Teow Goreng, Pho, tartas de pescado tailandés y algunos lados. Viajo mucho y siento que se trata de comida auténtica de calidad, en un ambiente informal. También disfruté la carne Katsu y Chilli en un viaje anterior. Debe ser uno de los mejores en Orpington y sus alrededores.

Went with friends and we shared everything that was ordered. Was fatty and very salty. I knew I would suffer later. I did ... very thirsty and it almost feels like my body had been poisoned with the mono-sodium glutamate. Won't be returning.

I eat in this spot a lot since I work right next to it. I like how the service is always great and they keep the spot well organized constantly. Pricing is reasonable and they serve large portions.

Excellent friendly service, variety of Oriental authentic dishes, tasty flavoursome food, generous portions, reasonable price in a cleanly decorated, spacious and comfortable restaurant. I highly recommend dining at Joy's Kitchen. Sunday's you can park free anytime on the street outside the restaurant (and opposite road too) if you can find a spot! Mon-Sat these roads are pay and display for 3 hours. Otherwise you can park free for 3 hours at the nearby Teaco Extra. The restaurant can be booked in advance and they also allow for own birthday/party cake to be brought in to eat. They kindly play the birthday song out on speakers and also help bring and provide plates and cutlery for the cake. Thank you so much for making our evening celebration dinner an awesome one! Will be returning in future...

Great service, atmosphere and food

This is our second visit. We've had another delicious Thai/Malaysian meal. This time we had Seafood Kway Teow Goreng; Beef Ho Fun; Prawn Pad Thai; Tofu Nasi Goreng. Soooo nice! Highly recommend it.

This site is my favorite place. Of all restaurants I know I favor it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to this restaurant. when I I need a special lunchon, this restaurant comes first to my mind. good and many types of food and a large list of dishes.great staff members, and nice ambience. And very important, the cost is fair. I recommend this restaurant with no doubt.

Yep, worth it... clean and friendly staff, worth the tip. The mixed starter platter was quite good. The coconut water with lime and lychee was surprisingly nice and refreshing. The pad thai, too bad I got all broken pad thai...felt like eating rice... the Singapore fried rice with mixed meats and tofu, for my palate needed soy sauce and chilli oil... I will definitely go back and explore more dishes. Also very much recommend.

This is such a wonderful restaurant which I visited regularly when I lived in Orpington. The food is always richly flavoured, with generous portions and the staff are always kind and welcoming. Very highly recommended.

Fui anoche a Joy por primera vez, generalmente yendo a Chislehurst, y tuve una excelente comida. Muy especiado y no demasiado caliente, con un excelente Asahi helado en la parte superior.Lo recomiendo encarecidamente.El único comentario que sugeriría a la gerencia es agregar un poco de música ambiental en el fondo, pero sin duda volveremos.

First class food. Authentic dishes and good value.

As the only Indonesian around it could and should capitalise more on home deliveries. Deliveroo does not come to Bexley ! Food is tasty. Take away portions are relatively small in size and hence relatively expensive - £12 for Beef Rendang with rice. Menu is limited. No gado gado style salads any more.

Great food but restaurant lacking atmosphere. 3 May Joy Kitchen. A slightly strange restaurant that feels a bit like it's just opened and hasn't quite finished setting itself up yet! There's no music, so if you arrive before it's busy it has a weird, quiet atmosphere. Tables are rigidly laid out in a way that feels temporary and a bit weird. Staff seem quite inexperienced and unsure what to do. There's quite a limited choice of drinks (just a handful of wines). All that said, the variety of food is fab, from Malaysian to Thai to Chinese and the food itself is great. So I'd definitely get a takeaway from here if they offered it (not sure if they do).

Beautiful food very reasonably priced. The cocktails were lovely to I would recommend a woo woo and the cosmopolitan. The king prawn Thai green curry with jasmine rice is the best green curry I’ve every had. I can not wait to go back again.

Went for the first time tonight and loved it. Very reasonably priced and really tasty. Had a lovely lychee martini and chicken satay, Peking duck and chicken katsu curry and Thai green curry- everything was lovely. Really friendly and efficient staff and nice atmosphere.

I love it here....as does my family and we have been many times since it opened. I love the honesty of the food and it truly gives you a taste of South Asian food .
