I had not been back for a long time, so nice to see the place having been done up. Seems to be more tv screens. A better drinks selection and nice outside area for when the weather allows. Hopefully be back again soon

My wife and I popped into this pub today for a couple of drinks as we were in Portobello. I went to the bar ordered our drinks and we sat at a table next to a couple of guys. We were sitting there no longer that 2 minutes when one of them pulled out his vape and took a big lung busting draw and exhaled the smoke across the bar. This continued for the duration that the guy was drinking his beer. There was no challenge from the bar staff x 2 and you could not say the guy was hiding his actions as the vape smoke was worse than any council estate on the 5th November. What really disappointed us was when he left the bar staff waved goodbye to him so they must be fully aware of who he is and what he does. The smoking ban in pubs has been recognised as a great health benefit changer and for it to openly flouted and not challenged by any of the staff is really disappointing. It would be interesting to hear the pubs defence on this issue but sadly I doubt that will happen, I just hope that in the future a couple of off duty cops are having a beer when this happens again.

A quaint pub frequented by locals. Like before and without annoying questions about whether you want to eat or drink something. Very friendly service and you can talk to other guests. Gladly again.

Well you can’t beat the Ormelie for a warm welcome. This place has the history of people within its walls. If you are staying round here, pop in - always a friendly welcome.

Wonderful little Tavern. Love the decor and history/photos of days gone by Portobello, etc. Dog friendly too. Excellent service and staff. Never ever change 😀

Great old fashioned pub with the atmosphere that only a traditional experienced pub of it's calibre deserves. Defo for the purist who like this type of atmosphere with a great selection of drinks and friendly service. I would highly recommend coming here to sample what I call a public bar, because we are losing these types and are they getting replaced with places that have none of the things that make this place and others of this tradition unique.

The selection of crisps and nuts is of an extremely high calibre and beautifully compliments the extensive array of beverages on offer. The staff exhibit a degree of professionalism rarely seen in the service industry, all the while maintaining that personal touch and ensuring by glass us never less than half full!

Excellent pub, dog friendly and amazing staff. Make you feel welcome as soon as you walk through the door. Worth a visit. By order of the peaky bro's.

Remember how pubs were? Pint, chat or read the paper, no endless pressure to order food (ok push the boat out and have a packet of dry roasted), sport on tv but not overwhelmingly so. You have arrived. Look after it carefully. May have been Mr Doyle's (Caledonian Heritage, The Dome fame) first?

Disregard the review by hazel daze she is obviously off her rocker maybe been sniffing too much glue I’m not judging, Jenny is a genuine delight to behold and I’m always happy when she is serving always welcoming for the rest of the staff they are always attentive and very friendly would recommend to anyone passing through the portobello area

so sad to say but a few barmaids are just bitter, incompetent, jealous, inefficient and rude. i understand they can't do more in terms of careers but it's noticed by too many at this point where everyone else has changed a place. you want to go some where there is competency and actual staff that aren't completely inept.truly try anywhere else. jennie ? not sure it's here but she seems lovely but maybe bad conditions mentally... blonde hair ... a little oversized but that doesn't matter just be careful and spend your good money elsewhere with savory staff and company

WE popped in to this local boozer since we were staying at a nearby hotel. A real old mans pub, staff were friendly and attentive, with a good range of spirits and beers on offer. Prices were also decent. All in all well worth a visit.

Nipped in to meet hubby. Very comfy pub. Was busy on Friday afternoon.

Not much to look at from the outside but don't walk past! Inside clean and welcoming with great beers and a huge choice of whiskies. The best pub in portabello.... They also sent us to the best place to eat called the forresters which is quite a walk to the other side of town but well worth it.

Terrific traditional pub a short walk from Portobello beach with decent beers and a superb collection of scotch whisky. The staff and regulars were a friendly bunch and our group of four were made most welcome. Very clean with immaculate loos. Would recommend highly.👌

We went in for a few pints and its a good local pub ,proper scottish banter in here ,we were made welcome and had a good laugh .

A solid old school local , stop in and ask Davie the manager to recommend a dram from his extensive selection. The prices are a nice surprise :)
