Came especially to visit this pub that advertises, open until 1am. It was very much shut at 10.30 pm. 😕

I recommend for an afternoon of board games in a pleasant atmosphere.

Came here looking for Angus Buchan. Wasn’t disappointed xx

I came into an empty location. But the girl in the bar was wonderful. Go here for a chilled and relaxing time. It's not a typical pub, but more of bakery kind of look.

Great pub to chill out, drink, eat and play games There's a good selection of games available, jenga, uno, many others.... Live music in the evening, what more could you ask for.

Grossly overpriced; case in point, here’s an £11 margarita! Not even full, and with ice. Nonsense.

It's on the sunny side of the street which is good but needs a better selection of ale not everyone likes lager

I walked past here many times and finally went in. Tiny place (possibly 8 tables??) but a bit individual. Place got busy just after I sat down). Toilet a bit cramped for me as I am on crutches but apart from that I will be back.. Freshly decorated. Tables to sit in the sun and music at the weekend.

Wee place, not for big groups but the atmosphere is great. They've got a good selection of board games, reliable live music and a good selection on tap. Would recommend!

Was in for the France v Wales game and then the Ireland v England game in 2023. Very decent wee pub for drinks and chat but not the best place to watch sports as it's only got one TV but it's got a hell of a lot of atmosphere. For a Rose Street pub, it feels a lot more like a local than a place full of tourists (despite the French rugby fans who were in! They settled in quickly and seemed like locals. 👍) The stand out point for me with the Shoogly Peg was the staff. Absolutely superb. The pub was packed and there was only one person behind the bar who held it all together. Nobody waited too long to get served and nobody ignored due to lack of awareness. A real credit to the bar and should be given double the money they're on! And they should be given more staff to work work with.. not just more money. Appreciate those staff please. 🤗

I visited this pub recently on the 23rd December with my wife and 3 other couples. 8 of us in total. Upon entry we noticed the pub was half full at best. We approached the bar to buy a round of drinks only to be told by the bar lady that we cannot be served. Of course we asked why..... Maximum permissable per group is 7 people.....this we found frankly unbelievable and astonishing! We voiced our disbelief and took our business elsewhere. This half full bar would turn away trade due to what was a ridiculous rule. We were 4 couples...... I hope in these times of financial difficulties the owner/s have the financial capability to sustain such a policy 🤷

Really poor cocktails and service from staff who didn't seem to want to be there

Decent boozer, decent selection of beers friendly staff, the singer was class great choices of music. Only downer the ladies loos out of order either share with the boys or use the pub across the road not ideal. Hope they are fixed soon!

Small proper old fashioned boozer on Rosé Street, it was quiet both times I visited, but friendly staff and excellent beer. Also has some outside seating.

It is an old fashioned pub on Rose Street, that is all you need to know! Ladies toilets were out of order when we went but the pub across the road helped out.

Had a lovely evening in this quirky little pub. The service was friendly and we were given plenty of drinking up time. The place was very clean and good space between tables despite being tiny. The only downside was that the women’s toilet was out of order but we could nip across the street to the sister pub which was very close so not an issue.

The young womans service on 16/7/2021 between 20:00-21:30 though she was rushed off her feet was fantastic. She was very friendly, helpful and the drinks were well made. Will definitely stop here again

Awesome bar over the road from its sister pub the Rose & Crown. Small place with a huge selection of drinks. Cocktails on draught! A great find and we’ll worth a stop for a pint or three.

El Shoogly Peg en Rose Street en Edimburgo es un pub bastante pequeño. Precioso pub de estilo antiguo, donde se pueden degustar platos típicos como Fish & Chips, Sopa del día y postres. Comida deliciosa y personal excelente y amable. El pescado y las patatas fritas eran excelentes. También hay asientos al aire libre. Altamente recomendado.

We went to the pub during a visit to the City and walk along Rose Street. Great atmosphere, nice bar and friendly staff. We will definitely be back.

Nos encontramos con este pequeño pub en Rose Street. Es pequeño pero tiene un ambiente acogedor muy agradable. Pedimos bebidas y un par de lados para compartir, y disfrutamos escuchando la música soul que estaba sonando.Lo único negativo que diríamos es que los muebles son muy antiguos para combinar con la sensación del pub, pero los asientos son muy incómodos y las sillas podrían ser tapizadas nuevamente.

Friendly staff great for a quiet meal

We went here after visiting a few places celebrating our engagement. We got a couple of drinks and the manager noticed we were celebrating. She gifted us a free bottle of Prosecco which was the kindest gesture. We have been back since for another drink and were really welcomed again. The Wall of Woof is also too cute.

The bar staff at this place are very rude, we were only allowed one drink as we were a group of 6 (adults in our 60s) then told to leave. The girl behind the bar was incredibly unfriendly, making rude facial expressions as we chatted quietly, definitely needs a course in customer service! The bathrooms were filthy too. Would not recommend, most unwelcoming pub in Edinburgh! Oh and cash only, which is very odd indeed

Small, cosy, good location and fair price

My pal and I dropped into this great little pub to be warmly welcomed by a friendly young Canadian lady (although she was eating rabbit food). She poured us a couple of pints of fine ale which we duly downed. Next visit north of the border I will certainly retun.

Una fiesta de 8 (4 parejas de 40 a 70 años) para tomar algo el sábado por la noche. Todo sobrio. No una despedida de soltera, una despedida de soltero ni una noche de fútbol. Barmaid dijo que no podía servir una fiesta tan grande. De Verdad? Mi hijo, desconcertado, le preguntó si podía servir a 2 grupos de 4. No, dijo, ¡no es aceptable porque sabía que habíamos entrado juntos! ! Aparentemente era "política" y tuvimos que irnos. Demasiado para una bienvenida en Edimburgo. Entonces, una advertencia: si quieres tomar una copa allí, tendrás que fingir que no se conocen. ¡Extraño! !

The food wasnt great, and wasnt even cooked on premises.

Primer pub de la noche recibido por un barman antipático, no atípico en el centro de Edimburgo un sábado por la noche. De todos modos, mi queja fue cuando pedí una pequeña copa de vino, no soy un gran bebedor y necesito mantener el ritmo. Me dijeron que esa no es una opción, solo sirven de tamaño mediano o grande. Entonces dije medio y me cobraron 4. 90! Teniendo en cuenta que esta taberna en Rose Street no es un bar elegante en la calle George y era solo un vaso barato de plonk, ¡pensé que era empinado! La pinta de mis amigos también fue 4. 90. ¡Me hizo pensar que el margen de beneficio es alto o que la propina está incluida!
