This place must be scraping the bottom of the barrel for waitresses. Food is nothing special, very slow service. Keep an eye on your hand bag whilst dining there. Very rude waitress " Lynn"

Have had breakfast here a few times now so thought it would be worth leaving a review. The food itself is OK, although tinned mushrooms? A bit penny pinching for a breakfast at £8.95 + extra for Tea/coffee. Tomatoes and hash browns undercooked ( as previously), egg overcooked, yolk was hard. Very little effort to present the food nicely, this was basically a "pile" of breakfast. Sausages and bacon excellent, service indifferent, collect own cutlery a bit lazy. Whilst I might ago back there are better places

Have visited before but I don't pass this way so often now. Always loved the 'country' feel to the place, with its attractive location and good wholesome produce. This visit was no exception. Had a delicious bacon, Brie and Cranberry baguette and coffee, generous portion too. Even managed to find a nice card for a male friend, not interested in sport, for his birthday on the way out.

We had a fresh bacon roll and a tuna mayonnaise melt with salad. Good value and friendly staff. We go to the adjacent farmstore quite often to buy one of the many ciders there but the it was first in the Tea Room. The menu had full breakfasts, pies, tarts, cakes many of which were on display and looked good. The farmstore sells everything from fresh vegetables through to sweets, cakes, beers ... Worth a visit.

What IS wrong with some of the women who work in this place?? Both in the shop and the cafe, they are so damn miserable....only exception is the Polish woman in the shop who is delightful but if she's not there, God help you if you want basic courtesy or friendliness. They represent everything bad about English 'service' to the customer. Fire them and get some younger people in or some other Polish employees who have a bit more class. By contrast, the butcher next door is a top geezer...always friendly and helpful and his meats are terrific. Skip the shop and cafe though.

this collection off small business offers nice breakfasts and lunches and has theme nights for dinner events also on site is a nice butchers , a farm type shop selling local items including beers and ciders ice creams etc , this tea room is part of the orchard and nursery complex which is also very good , most of the food is of good value and when they are doing more complicated dishes these are very good , even if you are just passing this place on deliveries its a great place to rest up for an hour and have excellent value breakfast there is quite a good amount of parking area with no charges off main road , nice staff , we often use this place , car park is stone covered so may be problematic for wheel chairs but we have seen them make it in to venue and staff would help if needed ,dog friendly in outside eating areas

We came upon this place during a hike over The Weald, and stopped for refreshing cider dispensed straight from the cask; more than 20 varieties from small producers are stocked. We sat on the terrace in glorious late-summer sun. The adjacent farm shop is highly attractive, with a wide range of fresh and packaged foods enticingly displayed. Staff are helpful and charming. I heartily recommend the Orchard Tea Room!

We were hungry and I remembered this place from a previous (good) visit. We arrived in the late afternoon, but they were still serving hot food and main meals. They were so helpful, kind and generous, and could not be faulted.

Tucked out the way, off the main road. This little tea room saw good foot fall whilst we were there. Without any delay we received our order. Good sized pot of tea for us to share. The breakfast was very nice, the sausage I assume came from the butchers in the same location. Very tasty. Quite a large menu from what I could see, and open for select experience evenings. The farm shop is worth a look too.

Lovely setting and interior and all sorts of delicious food on offer. Settled for a lovely stodgy pud and coffee. Delicious as it looked. Just felt staff rather distant - they weren't even busy at the time. Will probably return if in the area though and compare visits.

Yesterday lunchtime on route to Sheffield Park & Garden (National Trust) we decided to stop off and have some lunch in the team room with our two grandsons (13 & 12 years old). The member of staff took our order and then read it back to us to check that it was correct which it was and then we sat at a table in the tea room. Although we didn’t have to wait long for the food, the two small mocha’s never appeared. I had to get up and ask the member of staff twice for them as other customers who had come into the tea room after us, were served their hot drinks before us. On the second occasion the member of staff was quite abrupt and she said perhaps the order for the mocha’s hadn’t been received by the kitchen staff yet, but this made no sense as she had even read back the order to us when we came in. Eventually another member of staff brought the two mocha’s to our table and by that time we had all finished eating our food. I advised the lady that we had been waiting along time for the drinks and I felt that we should be refunded for the mocha’s for that reason. The lady checked with another member of staff and confirmed the refund had been agreed by him. Whilst we were grateful of the refund, we won’t be rushing back there for that soul reason. I think customer care needs to be strongly reviewed as at least one member of staff has a careless attitude. Family from Tatsfield Kent

Tea was brought to our table and just left Along came the young girl with the scones and plonked them on the table I said thank you .no reply not even a smile . Scones were very basic not much flavour . I have been in catering all my working life dealing with the public a smile and a cheery word costs nothing .Certainly will not. Return here

Following a beautiful Sunday morning walk with dog in charming Ashdown Forest, we stopped for a quick breakfast at Perryhill Orchards Tea Room. We Arrived five minutes after opening time with smiles on our faces and even our normally ever-energetic Collie was relaxed, however we were met with the most unwelcome welcome from the two older people setting up the fruit and veg plus a young man who had clearly put his personality on hold to work alongside Mr and Mrs Miserable. We didn't stop to try the food, solely because of their total lack of interest in us and worse the rudeness with which we were directed to a menu, which had yet to be placed on the table (our fault ?) Independent businesses thrive on the customer friendly smile of engaged staff, this one, apparently primarily a fruit and veg stall, needs to check the sell by date of its customer service before others, like us, choose to drive on by in the future.I don't normally give poor reviews, preferring instead to focus on the places which have given us excellent service or exceptional experiences, but sometimes when I suspect the person responsible for the profit and loss of a business needs to hear something important; when most will tolerate poor services or not bother reviewing, I will not tolerate and will bother - to smile a welcoming smile costs nothing and on an amazing sunny morning, in a beautiful part of Britain, it shouldn't be too hard to find one.

This is just across the road from a nursery garden and the entrance looks like a run down industrial estate. On site there is also a local butcher and the Tea Room is situated at the back of a country produce store. It looked to me as if the food was prepared in an old domestic kitchen and it did not appear easy on the eye. The dining room is like something from the 1940s and the staff are efficient buy not particularly friendly. We sat down and were told where to collect the cutlery rather than it being brought to the table. Nevertheless the ubiquitous "all day" breakfast was good at £6.95 including tea. Sausages seemed local but a little spicy and the Black Pudding was excellent. This is a useful stopping off point on a journey as parking is easy but not somewhere with ambiance and sparkle.

Local tea room/cafe with good range of food & reasonable prices. Staff friendly but the whole place smells of fat- including the adjacent farm shop. I will only go if I know-it is warm enough to sit outside. Does have an accessible toilet but new ramp to the decked area is too steep

I came here with my father and my grand-father who was in a wheelchair. We entered the room; which smelled of fat, and was not cosy at all. The noise of the fridge was unbearable. I walked to the counter and ordered two cream teas, and a cake. I looked at the cakes in the refrigerated display (which was horribly dirty), the cakes looked disgusting, so I took a shortbread. Then the waitress came and put the stacked up teacups and saucers on the table, and spilt some tea, but never mind she did not even clean up her mess!!! I tasted my father's scone, it tasted like bread!, and had raisins in. Then she approached and told us we had to pay now because she was closing the till, even though we hadn't finished eating. So we left saying that we were never coming back.

I went to the tea room for a cream tea with my family. The room has plain painted walls , modern floor tiles and modern light fittings which give a rather harsh light. The walls are lined with some prints of landscapes with price tags on them. There's nothing cosy about this place! There is a smell of stale cooking oil, probably as a result of the all-day breakfasts. The service is non-existent as one is asked to order at the counter, and, once the order is placed, the crockery is brought to the table and dumped down for you to lay the table yourself. The counter has some unappetizing cakes under grubby cloches. As for the food: the cream comes in an individual portion plastic pot, and the jam in an individual portion jam-jar. The so-called scone bears no resemblance to any scone I have ever seen or tasted: a sort of crumbly bread with a strange aftertaste, but definitely not a scone. At £4,65 the cream tea is not expensive, but just make sure you leave any high expectations at home. Plus point: wheelchair accessible.

Despite advance notice the cafe was unable to keep up with orders from a small group which arrived. 15 minutes after ordering I had to chase up my coffee and the scone which simply had to be lifted out of its container on the counter and onto a plate. The coffee was good but the industrial style pasty cheese scone tasted unaccountably of some extremely bitter chemical substance which rendered it inedible. I returned the scone as I left, not having time to linger any further, and explained the problem but will not be returning.

I occasionally pop into perryhill orchard tea rooms when passing for a cake and coffee but this time decided to have their veggie breakfast. They are very obliging as I'm fussy and had to substitute an item as I don't like baked beans, so they gave me an enormous portion of mushrooms instead! The breakfast is a reasonable price, and comes with tea or coffee! The staff are super friendly, and nothing is too much trouble.

Travelling down to the Bluebell railway for the day and getting desperate for a cuppa and brunch we found this oasis in the Sussex countryside. Just mostly pubs around which weren't open yet. The tearoom is part of Perryhill Orchard farm which also has a craft shop, farm shop and butchers. Lots to choose from on the menu. We had a lovely breakfast and a bacon sandwich, 1 cappuccino and a small pot of tea. All extremely good, especially the bacon so I wish I lived nearer. May visit the area in the Summer so hope to visit again.

It was quiet for our Xmas do though we may have been the first to have a big group event :) We had the festive menu. The carvery was lovely, however if veg is left on hotplate too long it can be bit hard - not sure if there's another solution to this. Some in the group were not overly enamoured with the Mac 'N' Cheese, felt it was not cheesy enough. The chips were overcooked which came wit the burger. Overall, it was a super evening, lovely venue and welcoming staff.

I’ve been to this place a few times now, when flying to and from Gatwick Airport. I’ve always been impressed by the staffs politeness and courtesy, going that extra mile. They are very dog friendly with treats at the bar, and water bowls provided. There has been a hansom, well behaved, and affectionate Australian kelpie dog there on a few of my visits. The rooms are reasonably priced have been consistently clean, tidy and comfortable during my stay. I would not hesitate to recommend The Plough Inn to any other traveller or patron.

We visited the Boar's Head Inn at Crowborough today (19/6/24) for a Wake following the funeral of a dear friend. We were absolutely amazed at the wonderful spread that was provided. Both hot and cold food. Well presented and attentive service. Excellent! We have visited for lunch meals on a couple of past occasions and have always been impressed by the variety and quality of the food. Thankyou.
