Love this cafe and the staff. After the Cathedral visit we need a coffee and approach to this cafe which was about to close but we request them for a takeaway coffee if possible. We're truly appreciate for making that effort. Hope pop in again when around.

Good vegetarian options that tasted delicious in a sunny outdoors setting, besides Shrewsbury’s historic Cathedral. Definitely worth a visit.

We stumbled across this delightful cafe whilst walking around the walls. A lovely sun trap with ample tables outside. We only wanted a light snack: toasted tea cake and an iced bun washed down by a couple of tasty hot drinks certainly hit the spot. The breakfast baps being served close by were a feast for the eyes. Nice friendly staff, good food and a great location. Highly recommend.

Had afternoon tea as part of the Sabrina boat package for my daughter's birthday the sandwiches were lovely along with the scones and cakes the staff were very welcoming and made us feel very special we had a lovely day will definitely go back😊

During a walk around Shrewsbury we realised that we were close the Orchard Cafe and had been meaning to try it before the world changed. Their Covid measures were excellent. The menu was good with seasonal specials and drink/food combination offers. Our food was all freshly prepared and was fantastic. The prices were also very reasonable. I think a lot of people see the cafe as they drive passed but forget about going back to try it. We were very pleased to have made the effort and will be going again.

In these days of coronavirus. many will only frequent cafes that take all possible precautions. The Orchard cafe is one located adjacent to the Shrewsbury Catholic Cathedral that featured stain glass by the famous Shrewsbury artist Margaret Rope. Features social distancing, outside tables, one loo only, one entrance and one exit and sanitiser available. Recommended.

In the grounds of the Roman Catholic cathedral, although not part of it, the cafe is a pleasant and airy place for lunch. The daily specials are fresh and well presented. Sandwiches on the main menu are prepared to order. We went twice during our four days visit.

Dropped by the Orchard Cafe, an enterprise of Shrewsbury Catholic cathedral. Delicious, hearty chick pea and carrot soup and Chelsea buns (to go). A light, airy, quiet cafe. Friendly service. Great little boutique shop of Catholic paraphernalia. Prices all very reasonable and situated in nice part of town, high up over the river, but just short walk from the shops. Will come again, for sure.

Good food, friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Well worth searching out. We liked the sandwich and soup option for lunch.

Very good food, plenty of it and lovely caring staff. We had a room to ourselves which suited a group of our size, allowing us to talk and laugh a lot without disturbing other customers. A successful event!

We were lucky enough to hold our daughters 5th birthday party at Orchard Cafe at the beginning of November and we can’t thank them enough for making it a really special day. We were able to hire the function room above the cafe for the party which was a lovely size for 25 children full of birthday party excitement, plus a few mummy’s and daddy’s!All of the staff were so friendly and accommodating and Sandra and Chloe put together a lovely child friendly buffet which was enjoyed by all - lots of parents commended on how good the food was.We really can’t recommend this venue enough and we are very much looking forward to popping in for a coffee and tasty cake with them soon!Thank you!

This is a great little cafe managed and run by some great staff, Sandra and Chloe are ace, the food and service is great. There seems to be a lack of staff at peak times, I believe the "management" have reduced the full time staff, apart from Sandra and Chloe, and replaced them with zero hour contracted casual staffWhen it's busy, due to the above, you can wait a while but the girls work very very hard to combat thisI visit this cafe at least 5 times a week and it's always busy, even more so on a Saturday A great cafe with great food and staff

The Orchard very kindly hosted an after wedding ‘next day’ recovery brunch for 40 of our friends and family. A help yourself buffet style full English. Everything was delicious all locally sourced ingredients. A huge thank you to Sandra and her team for all of their pre planning and service on the day. 5* plus from us ‘The Goddards’ - Shrewsbury.

Revisited after an 18 month break and what a great surprise. The food was lovely and generous - freshly cooked soup with warm ciabatta and a hand cut ham sandwich with Brie and perfectly dressed salad. Service was friendly, efficient and attentive even though it was busy. Will definitely be back. Thank you Orchard Cafe!

Had a wonderful al fresco lunch in the sunshine at the Orchard Cafe. A diverse menu covering vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free food as well as standard fayre. Can highly recommend the ham, Brie and cranberry bloomer! We were made to feel very welcome by the staff, and the facilities were spotless. Will definitely return next time I find myself in Shrewsbury.

Today, me and my friends had a beautiful lunch at Orchard Cafe. We sat in the sunshine next to the beautiful cathedral. The staff were friendly and we all enjoyed our meal. I especially enjoyed my gluten free chocolate crunch cake. Thank you for a lovely day. I had cheesy herby potatoes with salad and coleslaw.

Popped in here to recharge our batteries and have a drink and rest. Not the cheapest but also very lovely staff.

Treated myself to lunch here last week & had the Leek & Caramelized Red Onion Quiche which provided the savoury hit I was hoping for. Came with a nicely presented rocket salad & new potatoes. Attractive contemporary interior, lots of glass. Not sure what I did to upset the waitress who gave me the evil eye several times but in the right place as there's a little gift shop tucked into the corner stocking religious items. Suppose her presence could generate panic sales! Anyway...followed the quiche with a very nice lemon cheesecake topped with strawberries. Passed on the pouring cream as the portions were very generous. Option to sit outside. Shall call again. Full marks for the food. Expect you could take it out if you worked nearby?

Went for lunch after hearing it was very good, there was hardly any clean tables both of the waitresses were quite rude and the food was exceptionally average...my husband and daughter ordered a ploughman’s, I don’t class ham, cheddar some bread and salad a ploughman’s!!! will not be visiting again.

We took a Shrewsbury friend there (her recommendation). Trying to be fair to the cafe, I hadn`t told the friend I was Gluten Free but when I asked if they had any gf bread or crackers, was told in offhand manner that they`d "run out". That meant there was absolutely nothing for me to eat for lunch. Not "didn`t fancy" but NOTHING that was gf. And to cap it all when our friend requested a sweet white, she was offered Chardonnay! I am not a great wine expert, but I know enough to know that Chardonnay isn`t sweet. Shall not be visiting again.

We went here with family today and it was absolutely lovely apart from a VERY rude waitress! She was the you best there and had a really awful attitude. She rolled her eyes at the gentleman in the que before us and also made two very rude comments. One to myself and one to my mother. She really, really let tgis place down which would have been a 10/10 experience otherwise the food, cleanliness and other waitresses were fantastic. Very disappointing. My mother intends to speak with the manager this week

I recently went to Orchard Cafe to meet a friend. It was my first visit and I found everyone very friendly. Access is very good for people with disabilities.It is lovely and clean and well laid out. Tables and chairs were not cramped together. We were not rushed and able to enjoy our coffee. The service was very good. They brought it to our table. The coffee and chocolate drinks were very nice.

The Orchard is great, Clive can not do enough for you, we had a birthday party there and the food was fantastic, catering for veg/vegans and all sorts

Called in for lunch on Wednesday ordered soup and sandwich soup was nice but only warm ..sandwich was what looked like sliced chicken with a bit of coronation chicken mayo on it it didn't even cover the chicken .... salad was lots of chopped lettuce bit of tomato very bad presentation the cook on duty appeared to be in a big rush to get out of there as we arrived there at 145 and kitchen closed At 2 wil never return

Used to really enjoy visiting this coffee shop but unfortunately it has gone "down hill" quickly. Relatively limited cakes to choose from now but more worryingly, the staff seem to be very demotivated recently from some of the comments they make. A real shame as we thought we'd found a real gem but with so many coffee shops to choose from in Shrewsbury, perhaps we'll have to find somewhere else .......

Beware the car park. Most signage seems to indicate the car park is associated with the cafe, but we got blocked in when the church had a service running. Just lucky that we finished just as the service was finishing and we were able to escape. We had to leave for the airport so would have been in deep trouble!!

A delightful setting; both indoor and outdoor seating. Staff are friendly and very helpful. we had breakfast which was served promptly and all freshly made. Good coffee and tea - perfect for brunch!

I have eaten there in the past and enjoyed a coffee as well. On this occasion it was a lovely sunny day, so we had the opportunity to have a coffee and sit outside there, for the first time.

On Sunday 29th July me and my family visited the café.

We arrived with 4 prams and moved a table under the large canopy for a bit of shade. We went up to order, the chef recommended the quiche so that what I had, it came warm with crumbly melt in your mouth pastry, smoked salmon inside and asparagus. ..yum. the side salad was substantial with capers and balsamic on top. The service was swift and friendly and the location was perfect!I could have spent all afternoon there!will definitely be popping back!

We had our daughter's baptism Reception here. Clive the owner was excellent helping to plan the celebration and worked with us to fit in with our budget. All the food was home made and an excellent standard. The staff looked after us really well and were so kind and pleasant. James in particular was very attentive and seemed to know what we wanted without us even having to ask. We cannot praise the orchard cafe enough, they made the day extra special and we will not hesitate in using them again. We have also been in for a coffee and lunch and the service and food is just as good every day as it is for a function. Definitely worth a visit for a coffee and a bite to eat, best place in town!!

My partner and I attended an 80th Birthday party recently and nothing was too much trouble. A big thank you to James, Amy, Sophie ( in the back) and owner Clive. These guys looked after us well, the food was lovely and the cakes were just super scrumptious, perfect for a function or just a simple cup of coffee.

Always a nice welcoming cafe, plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. We use it regularly after our bike rides, the staff are friendly and there is a great choice of food/drinks. It's set back off the road in a nice sunny courtyard.

We held a charity cycle ride from The Orchard. Clive who manages the Cafe put on Teas and coffees and pastries before we set off. After the ride he supplied a hot meal for all the riders as well as drinks. This was a thank you for our Cycling Clubs continued support during their first year of business. We shall use this great cafe after rides in the future, as we always receive great reception and service.

What a great day we've had. Great hospitality from Clive and his staff. With hot drinks and tasty pasties before setting out on our cycle rides. Returning to a splendid spread of hot and cold food. My vegan requirements were well catered for. Brilliant Café. My regular.

This excellent cafe within the precincts of the Catholic Cathedral is well worth a visit. Excellent facilities is a newly developed extension with a very good menu choice. It has the added attraction of the adjacent Pugin designed cathedral with spectacular stained glass by local artist Margaret Rope.

Popped in here as a pit stop after walking down the river. The meal was lovely (a good portion too) and the experience made even better with the chef coming out to provide a selection of dipping sauces to try with our meal. Definitely worth a visit.

Food freshly prepared and good quality ......we are regular visitors ...but our visits are often marred by the lack of interaction by the counter staff ...we didn’t even get a response to our “good morning “ today ...table number was slapped down in front of us and the person in question didn’t once break into a smile...hopefully she was having an off day...James is often at the helm and things do run smoothly when he’s there...

I came for a coffee in November on a recce for a group visit, which didn't work out as the date we wanted was booked up. Nevertheless, we enjoyed a coffee in lovely surroundings. Nice friendly staff.

Quiet, airy, great coffee, uplifting surroundings, parking (if mass not on in the church) and beautiful outdoor space for sunny days. I am hesitant to sing its praises too loudly, as I don't want it to get overrun! My favourite place to meet people in Shrewsbury.

During advent, the cafe are offering traditional Christmas lunch - three courses for four with a bottle of sav blanc and coffee, £85. Very well cooked, attentive service and bright surroundings.

My third trip to the cafe today and again I had one of the specials - a delicious quiche with a huge salad and homemade coleslaw. The other half had a steak pie and polished the lot off. The cafe has a very relaxed atmosphere, is bright and spotlessly clean. I couldn't quite fit a cake in so the staff very kindly allowed me to take a couple home for later. Would highly recommend this cafe to all. Great for a catch up with friends. There were a few cyclists stopping off for a coffee and cake too. Looking forward to my next visit.

What a lovely place. New, stylish and great food. The Chef and his staff were very friendly. I had the Lasagne (made on site and beautiful) my friend had Mackerel salad and said it was lovely. Could park too!

This cafe has quickly become my favourite place for a nourishing lunch in Shrewsbury. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is peaceful and the food is tasty and very good value for money. A great asset in Shrewsbury as there are few places where you can eat outside and catch a ray of sunshine.

The location is good, right on the town walls with lots of outdoor seating. Selection of food and drink fine but unremarkable. Unfortunately when I visited (3 in the afternoon) the café was quite dirty despite not being at all busy. Half the tables still had leftovers from lunch on (with attendant flies), and tables that had been cleared were not cleaned so were covered in crumbs and dried coffee residue.

Smart bright café with easy parking in the heart of Shrewsbury adjacent to the Cathedral. Excellent freshly prepared meals and cakes. Artisan coffees as well as wines! - Suited to all tastes, and a great addition to the area.

My wife and I heard God things about this place and decided to stop in for a relaxed light lunch. We really enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and prices were good too. Highly recommend it.

The café is situated to the side of the Cathedral. We have visited the Orchard on several occasions. Unfortunately my wife has to avoid certain foods at this time and the staff have been more than helpful in assisting her. Unlike some other establishments in the locality. We've tried the sandwiches and Sunday lunch too. All fresh and well presented. The coffee is also very good. The café is also licenced so you can have an alcoholic beverage if you desire. If the weather is nice you can sit outside and look towards the trees on the riverside. A really pleasant setting just off the Town walls set amongst period houses. It also has a nice garden area. When the sun shines it is even better! On my next visit I intend to try the bacon sandwich special.

What a lovely cafe! We were able to sit outside and it is such a beautiful setting, although with the big windows it would be lovely inside too. The menu had just the right amount of choice and a lovely selection. My hummus, red pepper and carrot sandwich was really nice and very reasonably priced. As a bonus a wedding party arrived while we were there which was great for people watching! I'll definitely be back.

Lovely cafe tucked next to the Cathedral with lovely outside area as well as good size indoor. Food is excellent and superb value, and well presented. Would certainly look it out for lunch again

This is a fairly new cafe that has opened up at the side of the catholic cathedral in Shrewsbury.

Visited today with hubby for lunch.

I'm delighted with this latest addition to Shrewsbury's restaurants. It's a true hidden gem. Tucked away off the Town Walls next to the cathedral with great views. It's warm and welcoming with a great atmosphere. The menu is simple but attractive with locally sourced ingredients. The staff were efficient and attentive to every need and it's a true pleasure to visit.

Visited Shrewsbury many times but not visited the Cathedral before. The Orchard Cafe is a little gem.....a great stop for lunch. We had excellent Ham Panini's with salad as well as coffees. Lovely friendly staff....very clean....will definitely visit again!

Called in for a rest enroute home. Sat for about 10 minutes before ordering a coffee.

Lovely location and very tastefully renovated

Thought we would try out this cafe as we had been wanting to visit for a while. There were lots of dirty tables outside but we managed to find one that was clear. As we approached the counter, the man serving us visibly sighed as if we were an inconvenience. We felt rushed with our order-this was a whole hour before closing time and there were only a handful of people waiting for their orders. One couple left because of the wait and one family were trying to clear a table to sit down only to be told by a member of staff that they were closing, as they had run out of everything! A few minutes later the doors were closed on everyone sat outside-charming. Shrewsbury has a wealth of good quality cafes and restaurants so good customer service is a must to ensure return visits. Such a shame, had high hopes for this place but will not be returning in the future.

This cafe is in a fantastic location, only a short walk from the hustle and bustle of town, it has become my favourite coffee shop in Shrewsbury. The coffee is great, the decaffeinated as well as the caffeinated. My friend had a panini which she said was delicious and I had a scone - looking forward to trying the gluten free cakes on my next visit.

Lovely location next to the Cathedral. Beautiful gardens, terrace & outdoor seating area with nice furniture. Car park including disabled space, mobility scooters & bikes. Excellent access for disabled. Inside is tasteful, spacious & appealing, modern clean toilets (very important). Food is fresh, good choice, quality & reasonably priced, with GF & vegetarian options. Staff are efficient, pleasant & smiley. In a nutshell "perfect".

It's a beautiful location, with clearly a very high spec which sets your expectations to a certain level. When you read "Bloomer bread" on a menu, you can imagine freshly baked bread, when in reality it's just standard sliced. Egg-mayo with far too much mayo and, although served in beautiful crockery with a biscuit, a disappointing coffee, we're not talking latte art. (oddly, we could only see gluten free cakes, but we could be wrong?)

We called into the café for afternoon refreshment. I was very impressed by its layout and location. The fittings are really top quality. Good coffee but a little disappointed in the small scones! The outside seating is really good with views up and over to the tree lined River Severn. It stands adjacent to the Roman Catholic Cathedral on Town Walls. I am sure this business will be a success. The service was ok but it was quite busy.

This cafe was fantastic .We visited for coffee and cake in the afternoon but will definitely be visiting again for lunch with a large glass of Chardonnay. The quality of the surrounds and cafe were superb. We chatted with the host who was very pleasent and obliging. Great choice on the menu and found the prices very reasonable. So I was driving up Town Walls, came across this little gem. Fantastic service, food was to die for. I enjoyed a perfectly cooked Pork Sandwich, I couldn't resist the pate, so I had that as well. My wife had Roast Chicken with a Pesto Mayo. Throughly enjoyed it. Will definitely be back.

Superb spot, the breakfast doorstep bacon sandwich and hot drink deal for £3.80 is a bargain too!!!!

Lovely little place in a beautiful location! The outside is perfect on sunny days but the inside is roomy enough for when it's not so nice out! The sandwiches we had were delicious, amazing quality for a great price! Love the crockery! Will be returning soon for more yummy food!

Bacon doorstop and coffee, both excellent. Friendly staff, clean modern decor. The radio is too loud but they turn it down if you ask. I also had the cheescake at another time, it was truly great.
