Start with the good - great atmosphere and very friendly staff. Wasn't overly impressed with the food. Place was busy so service was a little slow. They had ran out of ribeye steaks so ordered chicken ceasar salad instead. At £16 for lettuce and few thin bits of chicken I thought it was an expensive meal. I ended up ordering a takeaway later that evening as wasn't filling enough. The kids fish and chips wasn't very crispy, he refused to eat it. I thought it was an expensive meal for what can only be described as below average food. Its disappointing for the floor staff as they are doing a great job. I probably would not have tipped but you don't get that option as the service fee is added on without choice.

Worst Christmas party night we have ever had … not even a Christmas cracker on the table .. no choice of main course unless it was a dietary requirement .. turkey or veggie that was it … no atmosphere… music to slit your wrist by during the “Christmas” dinner … it was awful .. our table of 12 had all left before 11pm and another full table had emptied before that … awful night.

The food was really disappointing. I had the 6 oz steak with 'hand cut' chips. Sadly the chips were not hand cut, but were instead cheap frozen chips reheated in the oven. Tasted very similar to the frozen oven chips you would get from a supermarket. The steak was chargrilled to the point of being burnt on the outside. My husband got fish and chips, his fish looked fine but was served the same frozen chips unfortunately. The overall setting is nice and has a relaxed vibe however won't be back for food.

The side restaurant is called "The John Muir" room. A shade hard to find and even the bill does not use that name! Great table for 4 by the coloured glass window was good and private, few eaters today, and one waiter. The table rocked so we fixed that for ourselves. The card machines were bust so we had to find the cash! Cullen Skink @ £8 was creamy and good. The Steak pie @£14 OK, but the chips were cheap and tasteless. Muscles large or small portions looked fine. Coffees OK. The red & white we chose was £26 a bottle and fine. ADDED together food and service did not shine and I wont be returning. 10% service was added to the bill.

Our friend found this gem when searching for somewhere to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary, and what a find! The owner contacted us prior to our visit providing us with information on the area which was really helpful. On arrival there was a bottle of wine and a gorgeous home made sponge cake courtesy of the housekeeper. Built with luxury and comfort in mind by the current owners, this lovely place was just what we needed for a much relaxing break away. The kitchen was a cooks paradise, really well stocked with quality appliances. My friend and I had some happy times that week experimenting with different dishes to be enjoyed by us all around the large dining table, sipping champagne listening to piped music throughout the house via the sounds bars. To end the day it was chill out time in the hot tub. Liquid refreshments in hand, under the star lit sky, surrounded by the smell of pine coming from the forest of pine trees from the Glenlivet Estate was a perfect end to the day. A week in this place was like balm to the soul. Amazing. We will return.

There was nod to Covid service but that was all. To many people moving around in nooks and crannies. We were seated in a booth which was a really good place to be. Menu is comprehensive so no problem finding some interesting dishes. Service was a bit corparate not a lot of fun. You have to be quick to get noticed but as i say it was busy. The food is not at all memorable but we had no real complaints. To much choice in the area to go back again.

Visitamos con mi esposo y mi madre. Me senté abajo.

The outside of the building is just as interesting as the inside. Well worth a look inside but you'll have to buy a drink or have a bite to eat. Food is basic but nice. A little pricey for what you get. You can't see the impressive upper level and ceiling art without attending a special event. A bit quiet during the day. It is a gentle stroll from the Glasgow Botanic Gardens and about 15 minutes walk from Kelvingrove Park.

If you are visiting Glasgow and want to do something different at lunchtime Oranmor is well worth a visit. You can take in a theatrical experience while eating (and drinking). Oranmor is a converted church which combines a terrific bar, a function room and a small theatre. At lunchtimes you can take in the experience known as a Play, a Pie and a Pint. Basically you will see some theatre, could be a play, could be musical, could be comedy. If you phone in advance you will be able to judge if that weeks' offering is to your taste. I would say though that you should not prejudge the programme. It is invariably original and occasionally brilliant. The Pie lives up to its name in that you will be able to partake in the quintessential Glasgow pub fare if with a modern twist. The Pint part is basically alcohol. Not restricted to pints of beer however as there is a decent choice of wines and an excellent choice of whisky. The theatre is in what used to be the crypt and the main bar is located in what was the main part of the church. The bar is also well worth a visit as it is a friendly well appointed pub with a good choice of beer and an excellent choice of whisky. Oranmor can stay open late but you should check this beforehand if you are planning to go hear after theatre etc.

Grad ball on a Sunday night, dinner was £45/50 per head. Received half a bowl of soup which admittedly was nice. The main was chicken which again was nice but came with 2 boiled potatoes and one yes one baby carrot and one bit of turnip and aubergine. Really disappointing and left most still hungry. Cheesecake was really nice but could have had more than the dribble of sauce or even more than the one strawberry, raspberry and blackcurrant to eat it with. Otherwise it could be a bit dry. Moving on past the meal the overall venue is lovely and has ceiling paintings but is really rather run down and in need of some TLC. There are stairs up to the venue and further stairs up to the toilet. The place was far too warm as there are no windows that can be opened and when asked we were told there was no air con. Most were sweating all night and quite uncomfortable. We had around 90 people in the venue which states it can have 250.... I would love to see how that would work.

Our waiter took the details of the reservation to try and sort out the issue as well.Reservation issues aside we had a lovely experience. There is a good choice on the menu and our waiter very kindly helped us with our decisions when my husband and I strugglen to pick. The lamb was beautiful (a bit fatty but to be expected with lamb) and the balmoral chicken also very tasty. We were booked for a family birthday lunch for 6 people on a Saturday recently. It took half an hour for our orders to be taken and another half an hour for our starters to arrive (nothing fancy). One of them was wrong in that we were given mackerel pate instead of the chicken liver parfait that was ordered. I'd asked for some olives and bread, and the olives looked like cocktail olives (small and pitted) and hardly what you would expect. My main (chicken Balmoral) was ok, but our other mains were poor. The kids had ordered burgers and they all came burnt on the outside and very pink (i.e. undercooked) in the middle. My wife didn't like the smoked salmon linguine that she ordered, saying that it was full of cream and so rich that she could only eat half of it. The only positive is that they took the price of the starters off the bill. I won't be back to eat here.

The hall is beautiful especially when the sun comes through the big round windows. We were only having a small ceremony with immediate family and a few friends during the day but a big reception in the evening so we wanted something with a wow factor and Oran Mor didn't disappoint. We had the ceremony in the main hall then the meal in the private dining room (which is a lovely cosy room) then back to the auditorium for the evening reception. Everyone commented on how beautiful the venue was.The events staff were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Everything went to schedule I didn't have to worry about anything. I came here with three work colleagues for dinner. Once you realize the side door, the one with the menu and sign posted, isn't where you enter and walk around to the front music entrance, you are rewarded with a great atmosphere. In addition to bar seating, there are lots of tables around the periphery. Seat yourself. There is one menu on each table but I found the mother lode and grabbed enough for all of us. We started with the baked Camembert and it was exactly what we were craving. We would order it again.Mains didn't go over as well. My soup and salad were great but the other three all got fish, which they said was fine but just very bland, no flavor. Our main issue was getting the waitress to come over for drinks; getting them in the first place was tough and there were very long lags with empty glasses. I'd imagine sitting at the bar solves this problem.

Having been before for a gig and also drinks, first time I've gone to eat. Wont be back.Took my mum & aunt for an early mothers day drink and meal. Arrived at 1pm and was very quite, staff behind the bar were too busy chatting among themselves to serve. Stood for a while before a member of staff came over to take my drinks order. Went back up to bar to order food, again waited a while for someone to take my order. Note if you are eating in the bar area then you have to pay up front for your food. We finished our drinks I then went back to the bar for a bottle of wine to have with our meal and had to wait again while staff chatted to each other. We waited over an hour an a half for our food to arrive that was after 3 visits to the bar to ask where our food was. Each time was told they were very busy. We noticed the table behind us arrived after us and were being served. Then to make matters worse the table next to us, who arrived some time after we had ordered the food was served. Yet another visit to the bar to ask where our food was. We were told everything is cooked fresh and from scratch which is why it takes so long. We had ordered fish & chips and a burger, it shouldn't take an hour and a half to cook these. My Aunt ordered the Haggis which was most definitely plated and re heated. When it eventually arrived it was tasty enough although the burger was a bit dry and the fish a bit soggy. I paid extra for BBQ sauce with the burger which was missing and mentioned this I was then brought a bowl of what looked and tasted like bottled bbq sauce. When we had finished I complained about the length of time it took to arrive to be told they were busy and they were short staffed in the kitchen. I asked if I should have been told that when I ordered, and was told it was also due to a birthday party being in and a wedding being on, however when we arrived the place was quite and the wedding hadn't started as the groom and some of the wedding party were having drinks at the bar. The member of staff I spoke to offered no apology, said she was the supervisor in charge, yet earlier after my previous complaint said talk to your waitress you may get a discount. I asked for a manager to be told there would not be one on duty until after 5pm. I asked if the manager could phone me when they came on duty. I'm still waiting. All in all not a good experience and won't be back. Will follow up should the manager ever phone me.

This place is in an old church, and has a wonderful gothic atmosphere. It's also got good craft beer and great value food.Service is a little slow, but it's worth waiting for the whisky "bible";- this list is huge, full of tasting notes, and they've got wee drams from places you never knew made whisk(e)y. The prices are very keen, so try something different at Oranmor.

Wish we had this place in our city! We were told about the pie, pint and play deal at Oranmor by our airbnb host so we decided to check it out for ourselves. Oranmor is set in a beautiful old converted church which has a distinctive illuminated purple ring around the spire at night. Inside there is a pub area as well as a theatre. The pie, pint and play deal is superb value as was evidenced by the full house on the day we were there. The pie was quite tasty and there were a range of drink options that you could get as part of the deal if you weren’t interested in a pint. The play runs for about 45 minutes, which is perfect for a lunchtime performance. We saw “Sunset Boulevard” which was performed by four very talented actors. It was interesting sitting in a theatre in Scotland hearing American accents. We were very impressed with the show and it seems like they have new plays on pretty regularly to keep the home crowd coming back for more. This was one of the highlights of our stay in Scotland.

Having wanted to attend a gig at the Oran Mor back in September, and knowing that it was one of the best Whisky bars in the Glasgow, when the opportunity arrived to go, I jumped at the chance. I went there with my friends for an evening meal, and I choose the cheese garlic bread for starters. Which I must say, as my friends would agree with me on this, as I shared it with them, that it was one of the best garlic breads I have ever tasted. Then I choose the Steak and Ale pie, which was very good, nothing specially, but it certainly filled the hole and at £8.50, was a very good price. They also were able to split the check from the beginning, something a lot of restaurants struggle to do. That was an added bonus when there were 5 of us, all paying separately.Later that night, we went back there after midnight and stayed there till 3am, it was a great atmosphere to drink in and the alcohol was a reasonable price.Highly recommended.

My party had one of the upstairs room for private dining. We had a set menu with choices and the food was delicous. The atmosphere was amazing and the service was grand. We ended the evening with whiskey tasting and although I am not a whiskey drinker, the presentation, presenter and stories were great!!A few of us stayed after for drinks. A lot going on and definitely place to stop in for drinks or food.

I don't think I like what they have done here- it was a stunning building and it felt a bit spoilt with all the garish colours and neon rainbows. I attended a dinner here. The venue was amazing in terms of decoration but service was VERY slow and the food was only average. I had no idea what I was eating because of the lighting which made everything bright pink! The starter was meant to be butternut squash soup but everyone independently of each other thought it was more carrot. The main was chicken with unknown veg. The skin was still on the chicken and was flabby. Worst coffee I have ever had in a restaurant- so watery. Shame as it has a lot of potential. I can't really comment on the value as I paid a set rate for the whole event

We dropped in for lunch on a Friday and were surprised that the pub dining area only had a couple of other tables full. The tables were well set out and no danger of overhearing any of the other diners. The Bar had an impressive gantry and a good selection of guest beers available. We were attentively served and the food quickly delivered to our table. The Haggis, Neeps and Tatties looked a small portion, but was quite filling none the less. The Steak and Ale Pie was excellent and the Mussels were a good plateful.Dessert was an excellent Sticky Toffee Pudding or Ice Cream that was good too.

Fancied something a little different from the chain restaurants, so was delighted to find this little gem just down the road from where we were staying. The building is stunning, the food fabulous (even though I wasn't quite brave enough to try the haggis it smelled amazing) and the staff were attentive and patient with our dithering over the menu. Reasonable value for money too.

After having enjoyed Patsy Cline & A Bottle of Wine so much when we saw that Doris & Dolly had been written & directed by the same amazingly talented woman it was a no brainer! Book the tickets! As it coincided with celebrating my husbands birthday everything seemed to click together! We arrived on a wet & windy July night ( typical Scottish weather hey? - well this year at least) to be warmly welcomed & seated for a bite to eat before our entertainment. My fish & chips were ab delish - even though abit pricey at over £9; my husband's steak & ale pie melted in your mouth & was nestling in a to die for gravy! Doris & Dolly & friends didn't disappoint; what a superbly crafted together show! After a well earned encore the group said they were going onto the Edinburgh Festival - what a show to perform for so many tourists from around the world well done girls! Looking forward to the next offering from the team!

An amazing setting for one of the great bars/eateries in Glasgow.. normally fairly easy to get a seat, the array of beers is good and if you like a whisky then you're in for a treat... stunning. Live music when I was last there and it created an great atmosphere on a warm evening.

worst service I have ever encountered - I had to leave after first courseit was so bad I left after the starters. I was charged for starters and wine (only 1/3 drunk) and the manager did apologise for the poor behaviour of the staff. However, although they still charged me for the starters I look at this as approx £150 pounds saved. Had I stayed and paid for whole meal and written this review I would really be annoyed. Instead I know what poor service looks like - it is this place. if you are going for a nice meal with partner trust me guys don't go here. It seems the chef was unable to time the cooking of a rare steak - so kept sending staff out to harass us to eat quickly - experience was horrible and disgusting. I also notice many poor reviews on trip advisor on this place - also note they don't even try to answer - that says it all really.

Oranmore is amazing.A must visit!!! There is a bell tower that is apparently open to viewing but we unfortunately never seemed to get that opportunity. That aside, Oranmore is a delight for all the senses. We had a taster of a few of the locally brewed whiskeys and craft beers. The staff were delightful. Look up to view the quaint paintings on the ceilings, smell the tar as if the wood came from boats but it would actually seem that the building was originally a church or a cathedral. It was a busy place with all types visiting. Artists, actors, business tycoons, families, friends and couples. The venue caters to everyone and do wedding parties also. On our second visit, we went for "A PIE AND A PINT AND A PLAY!"A lunchtime treat where by you pay 14 pounds per person and for that you get a pie ( a meat and vegetarian option), a pint and a play performed by local well established and up and coming actors, artistes and the like. We were spoilt rotten with this wonderful hour of entertainment .We love Oranmore and can't wait to go back!

After our dinner at the Hilton we decided to go to the Oran Mor expecting a bit more upmarket than we got. It was quite dingy and when you buy a beer you have to ask for a glass and they do not do cocktails! It is a long time since I have been in a bar that does not do this. We had one drink and left, I think this place is living on its reputation for being different but it was too different for me. We had a nicer experience in the Curlers Rest.

an excellent way to spend a few hours at Saturday lunchtime with friends enjoying a play in an old church, the atmosphere is unique. You take your chances with the play, certainly this week was quality, brought tears to the eyes with occasional comedy moment, excellently performed by the 3 actresses.the venue is superb and creates the correct atmosphere for the event, enjoyed a pint and pie to add to the experience and is an event that I would recommend that revellers should attend to enjoy the superb experience.Has been a number of years since last visit and will not be as long time next time!

I've loved locally for years and on a Sunday generally drank in the pub closest to my home. Today I popped into The Storm Queen. A totally unique experience in Partick, a genuine swing band, live music with great vocals. Staff were amazingly aware and attentive. Cannot praise this enough and hard to believe it was free. I only wish I had discovered it before. Forget the football and give this place a chance. You will not be disappointed.
