My wife and I opted to have a meal at The Orangery having seen that they were offering a Valentine’s Dinner. We were also married at the adjoining hotel (over 20 years ago) and so we felt there was a romantic connection to the evening. The table had some red petals and a tall white candle. The room was lit beautifully and the temperature was comfortable. It seemed like a good choice on arrival But then the “restaurant machine” was switched on and any first impressions we had were soon evaporated. Our order, including drinks, was taken and within 5 minutes the starter and wine had arrived. Our empty plates were whisked away and the sorbet mouth cleansers were popped in front of us. They were removed with the upmost efficiency and we were on to the main course. And so on.. in fact, we were seated and proficiently guided through 4 courses in around 1 hour and 10 mins. Our main courses were cooked very well, though they lacked imagination. In contrast, the starters and desserts were prepared well in advance and we felt they had been bought in. Overall, we felt that The Orangery had stage-managed a Valentine’s Dinner. The speed at which we were whisked through sapped any sense of romanticism and the food was better than average. We may return to sample what the chef could offer on a non-themed evening, but we will consider all our other options first.

A nice choice for a local restaurant, good selection of wine, and the quality matches costs. The decor is superb.

Not a huge choice on the menu but the food is really good and the young staff extremely friendly and helpful Stayed over in the hotel so also had breakfast here. As there were a lot of guests it was buffet style breakfast and my only complaint would be that there were only scrambled eggs out and we weren't advised to preorder fried or poached eggs. Food top quality

Excellent service, very impressive menu which lived up to the recommendations we'd had from friends and colleagues. The price fits the quality of food and atmosphere provided. Generally a nice place to eat and relax.

Had fabulous meal here. It far exceeded our expectations. However, whilst the Orangery is bright and fresh I wouldn't choose it for a romantic meal based purely on the ambiance.. Great servic though.

We booked for the afternoon tea at the Orangary and it was lovely. The food was beautifully presented, very tasty and there was a lot of it! We were well supplied with tea and hot water. At the beginning of the meal, the staff were very attentive but at the end we were sat waiting for a while and had to go and find someone so that we could pay. We all really enjoyed the meal although I would have liked to have had an option about the type of tea I was drinking.

Staying in the hotel went to the restaurant for my evening meal. The selection was reasonable. Selecting the sizzler it did come on a metal skillet but far from sizzling. The sauce was very sweet hope it was honey as I am diabetic. There is no indication of this on the menu. Would eat here again

Excellently prepared food, fresh and piping hot - excellent wine as well. The service was top class. After enjoying our meal in the restaurant so much we decided to stay and eat in on the second night as well, rather than go out to a restaurant . Between us we had most of the items on the menu and tasted several dishes - all were enjoyed. i

Il ristorante è semplice e con un menù non molto ampio. I piatti sono buoni, ben cucinati e presentati, in particolare la carne. Servizio cortese ed efficiente.Prezzi leggermente alti.

Pleasant and efficient service and well-presented, tasty fare of plentiful proportion from a good, balanced menu. I was staying at the hotel and, as already remarked in my review of that, several weeks have elapsed so, unfortunately, I cannot remember what I actually ate! I do know that I remarked on the all-round pleasurable experience to friends and family afterwards.

We went to the Valentine evening on sunday, we asked if we could go get a pre drink as we were quarter of an hour early, the reception staff said to go straight into the restaurant as our table would be ready ! dont know why we agreed as once we got there there were only a few people in this large area, and we felt a rushed. There was a few Red heart shaped balloons at the front of the room, and a tea light on each table. The table cloth was covered in artificial red petals and silver table decor. All sounds very nice but it was really dissapointing ! the room was very lit therefore no evening atmosphere in the room, it felt that we were having a tea time meal in there. The starter arrived we both had king prawns, that were minute! 4 to be precise on the place, and a thin slice of bread.Main course of steak, and Fish were however lovely, no complaint. Desert for me was the chocolate desert, with one chocolate covered cherry and a couple of berries. I had to ask for ice cream to help me actually be able to swallow it Very rich, but once the ice cream arrived lovely. The cheese board was good.Various staff served, and were all helpful and accomodating, but we do like an allocated waiter waitress to identify a tip. We did tip but we didnt feel it was fair that only one member of staff received it.Overall this was our Valentine night that we had looked forward to, and to be honest we didnt leave feeling it had been a very special night. It needed the light to work, the table needed classy candles and maybe a vase with a rose in. We have happy memories of this hotel as we had one of our childrens weddings here, and as its a best western we travel to Devon Wednesday and always stay at another best western, which is an Amazing stay !!Come on Best Western get your act together, put some fun into the events.

Had an evening meal. Wild boar terrine with brioche was a little odd but the beef brisket for mains was a delight as was the apple pie and custard.A lovely Rioja to go with it was perfect. Service was good but the waitress was not an experienced wine waiter but I suspect new to the hotel team.

Excellent Christmas lunch with a choice of main course, recommend the belly pork. Would have had five stars except a senior waitress finished her shift during the meal and even though she assured her tables they would be well looked after they were seemingly forgotten for a while. Training is possibly required so the room is worked rather than just individual stations.

Although we chose from the Orangery menu, actually ate in the bar lounge as it was cosier after a very cold walk round town trying to find a good restaurant. In fact this suited the bill perfectly as it was tasty without being enormous. The chips with the sea bream were first class. The staff coped well and took trouble to answer queries, despite there being a big do on in the ballroom.

Ordered crab & crayfish cocktail to start. Few crayfish no crab. Pan fried lamb for main which was tough undercooked and tasteless. My wife had vegetable soup to start which was okay and duo of chicken for main which was lacking. Pity we are here for a wedding. Hope the wedding breakfast is better.

We had a very enjoyable evening meal here. My husband had steak which he enjoyed, i had a sizzling platter (wasn't sizzling much but was nice) it was quiet as two wedding were on at the hotel. The staff were attentive but not over powering.Guessing it would be lovely on a summers evening to have a meal here. It is very wheelchair friendly and there is a toilet not far away.

First time to have Christmas meal out on Christmas day. The ambiance and service was perfect. Staff very attentive but not intrusive. Had amazing menu well cooked and some of the best sea bass ever. As someone who doesn't eat Turkey the variety of alternative s was great, and my friend's Turkey did look delicious. Well done to all the the friendly professional staff I will be back .

Booked a table in the Resturant and wasn't told it was shut. At no time when I booked was I told the Resturant was shut. we walked out after one drink. They even had the gall to charge for a drink we didn't drink. Staff were useless and didn't offer an apology or a way to solve the issue.

Attended our yearly Christmas lunch last week and was so very disappointed with the food. Brilliant venue, attentive staff, great atmosphere unfortunately the event let down by the quality of food. The prawn starter poorly presented and tasteless. The main a disaster in that the roast potatoes were mushy and the turkey terrible. Looked as if it had been thickly sliced from a solid block, not carved off the bone as it should have been. Inedible. Eight ladies at our table and just about all the turkey taken home for the dogs! I am booked to go for another Christmas lunch on the 18 and sincerely hope there is an improvement otherwise I will post again!

What a refreshing change to go to a Tesco store and find they have a proper café in situ. My local Tesco changed to Costa some years ago and it is dire in there, noisy, very expensive and very limited on choice. The café in Tesco Worksop is wonderful, clean, bright, great value for money and the staff are so friendly and helpful. I visit my sister who is in a local Nursing Home and the Tesco café has proved a godsend for somewhere comfortable and reasonably priced to get food and drink. Long may it last, wish my local store still had its decent café.

Myself and my husband went to the boat on a Monday evening for some food . We haven’t been here for a few years but what an improvement from last time we went.

Went for Sunday carvery, really not what we expected. It’s not your usual carvery as you choose the meat and the server puts the rest of the food on your plate. The veg is on a table to the side but it’s mostly stood in hot water keeping warm, but making it tasteless and you cannot help yourself as it’s put on a plate while you stand there. There are different size plates to choose from but £12.50 for what you got seemed a bit much. The whole place is in need of a refurb and the loud music being played throughout made us decide we’d try elsewhere in future.
