Room on arrival had a soaking wet floor, absolutely stank of damp. Very basic. Bathroom had mold patches in between tiles. No Prosecco in room on arrival, as paid for and arranged. Very disappointed had a two night stay. Spa is very dated, never been to anything like it before. Pool was crammed with kids. Our package was booked for a couples spa weekend. Food was ok nothing special.

Set in beautiful grounds with a magnigicent Hall as part of the complex the restaurant promised a delicious meal. The food was excellent as was the atmosphere, although very casual for such a grand setting. The staff were friendly and helpful although a little slow in reacting to our needs. We had dinner once and breakfast twice. Breakfast on the first morning was very good, plentiful and hot. Sweetner was lacking with the sugar on the tables and took a while for staff to bring back. The second morning was not so good, lots of messy tables not cleared. Staff clearing tables with guests still eating and leaving the empty tables still dirty. No cups, juice glasses, small plates for toast, marmalade, bacon, hash browns, easier to list what was available. Staff pleasant but looked a bit lost with what was required of them. More training needed. More guidance by restaurant manager/supervisor who didn't appear to be helping or managing. The beds however were excellent, a really good nights sleep, plenty of towels althought the room was basic. The hotel needs a thorough deep clean, new carpets etc. It just looks unloved and uncared for. Outside maintenance is also an issue, wooden windows flaking and dusty, needs sanding and repainting. The spa also needs some TLC from the outside.

Set in beautiful countryside, with plenty of parking, great facilities, great staff, comfy beds and more than adequate rooms… We would recommend this hotel, and also the swimming pool, and sauna.. We were here as part of a Buyagift stay, an anniversary gift.. The food was we found very good. Great variety, tasty; no complaints. Bar area was pleasant, and the seating in the bar and especially the restaurant was very comfortable. Whilst all staff made this stay particularly nice, some were worthy of note. Lena on reception.. she is exactly the person you want to meet after a long drive, helpful, kind and funny. A real credit to the hotel. The same can be said for Maz in the restaurant; what a pleasant welcome in the morning; and then also being attentive without being intrusive.. Tom over at the pool / spa was also very helpful; he was happy to advise and gave my wife advice on treatments and massages. There was one manager during the evening meal service, a tall, well built guy in a white shirt. We forgot to ask his name (apologies) but he was very helpful, and attentive; even with it being the later sitting and an obviously busy shift.. very professional.. The evening and morning staff were all helpful, no complaints at all.. We would have liked to stay a couple more nights and explore the surroundings, maybe next time .. Thanks team.

Booked afternoon tea. Service not good. The tea was well below average for £25. I had booked a time so we should have been expected. The staff did not seem to know anything about the booking. Vague attitude and slow service. Real shame because I am local to hotel and would have been able to spread a good review if it hadn’t been so bad

We booked our stay with Groupon and we were staying in the annex rooms. On arrival we made our way to the main Walton Hall building to have a look around inside and was greeted by Sayed who we got chatting to and he kindly upgraded us for a stay in the Main Hall, which was wonderful. Thank you. We had room No.1 which was huge with a separate lounge area and great views of the grounds which we walked around and are beautiful! We used the swimming pool and spa in the afternoon which were lovely, but you need to get a ticket from reception beforehand to gain access to the leisure facilities, plus you need £1 for the lockers. Evening meal was a two course meal with Groupon and the menu choice was good, the food came quickly, the portion sizes were big and the food was great! Equally was the breakfast in the morning with continental and buffet style hot food (you could ask for any type of eggs to be cooked). Great value for money! Nice relaxing bar area to have drinks with seating outside too. We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay, the staff were friendly and Pinaky was helpful on reception. Would recommend The Mercure, Walton Hall, Warwick. Thank you,

Lovely overnight stay. Room was good. Could do with a safe and a handrail for stepping out of the bath/shower. The pool was a good temperature but the overall spa/pool area could be freshened up as it was looking a bit tired. Food was good, staff very good. Will stay again. I would have given a 5 if the spa/pool area looked a bit less tired!

My friend and myself stayed overnight. The hotel room was nice and clean and the bed was huge and very comfortable. Dinner and breakfast was inclusive. My friend has quite a few allergies and cannot eat a lot of ingredients. She emailed the hotel a week before and listed her requirements and also handed a printed list of ingredients she could not eat, but nothing was arranged. Besides that I enjoyed the food . The service was excellent and the staff were friendly.

Sad that the staff were very poor at cleaning up or clearing tables. The floor looked like it had not been cleaned since before Christmas day. The sausages were probably Richmond and very chewy, the bacon NOT crispy, the scrambled eggs were watery, poached eggs over cooked and the toast machine only worked on one side so it took an age to toast the cardboard bread. The coffee machine was ok but the orange juice was concentrate NOT squeezed or pure which I would expect for a 4 start establishment. We were never asked if we were happy with the service and the only good thing to say was we were only staying for 2 nights. Needs a LOT of improving in all areas but especially cleanliness, staff training, food quality and customer service.

We had sticky toffee pudding next but did not eat it since it was like hard Xmas cake and inedible . We left the restaurant and cancelled our next nights dinner Very disappointing !!

We were staying at the Mercure Walton Hall hotel and had our first evening meal in the Orangery Restaurant. We were shown to our table by the bar tender who was pleasant and courteous. As soon as we were seated a friendly waitress came over and took our drinks order from us. My daughter, sister in law and I fancied a cocktail and even though there were no cocktails available at the bar the waitress said she could arrange a Kia Royale for each of us. These were amazing and we were very grateful. 🥂 For our meal I had mushroom and tarragon soup which came with a seeded bun, delicious. My daughter and sister in law had superfood salads and my brother ham hock terrine, all were fresh tasty and enjoyed. We all choose salmon as a main course and the chef actually brought these dishes out and stood and talked with us, he was friendly and helpful. We felt this was a special touch. For dessert we had a trio of sorbet which included pineapple, blackcurrant and mango and my brother had apple crumble and custard, all were well presented and lovely. All in all we had a lovely evening and no complaints at all. Clean comfortable restaurant and lovely atmosphere. Compliments to the team who looked after us, they made us feel really special. Thank you.

I met a friend for lunch here a couple of weeks ago, and it was so bad, it was almost funny! When I arrived, the staff didn't know where the restaurant was, we were given one menu, badly printed out from a computer, and when we ordered a large bottle of sparkling water, we were told they had run out. We should have left at this point, but we were already in full catching-up mode... The food was like something out of the 1980s. I don't think I have had a plain boiled, frozen vegetable assortment since that time, when the height of British epicurean delight was chicken served in a basket. Season vegetables (as described) they were not! We then went out onto the attractive terrace to have coffee, which was brought to us separately and slopped down the side of both mugs. We then came to pay the bill and wanted to 'go Dutch' and the staff couldn't work out how to split the bill, so this resulted in me having to send my bank details to my friend to pay me her half! The only consolation was that the staff were so bad, they missed off the coffee from the bill, which I would normally flag, but in this instance, I felt this was at least some consolation for an awful lunch. I wrote to complain and have still received nothing. The website describes the experience as 'mouth-watering' and the menu as 'international'. I would challenge both of these descriptions and wholly inaccurate...

This is the second time we had stayed at the hotel and it was every bit as good as last time. We were on a deal again and it included a 3 course meal and bottle of wine in the orangery. It was excellent and I am talking as one who loves a top class meal in top class restaurants. It was my birthday and we were hoping for a good meal. Smoked salmon for my husband and I had the pate as starters. I had the 12 hour cooked lamb and my husband the chicken for main and we finished with the cherry cheesecake and cheese and biscuits. Neither of us had any complaints at all; it was excellent. More than adequate portions for 3 courses and we are good eaters. I struggled to finish. Its not piled high 'pub food' as some have commented about small portions but it is certainly more than enough as restaurant food. All obviously made at source, not the usual triangle of cheesecake or slice of pate, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Wine was excellent again (red) and glass of cava.Breakfast again as good as last time, wide choice, continually replenished. Very happy customers.

Arrived in the bar, asked for food menus to be told there was an hour wait for food. Told could only order from restaurant menu if I physically sat I the restaurant (as a single business traveller I often ind sitting in a restaurant amoungst lots of couples & groups a bit uncomfortable so prefer to sit in the bar). Some items on restaurant menu duplicated on bar menu but at different prices (fish & chips as example). All this aside I contemplated sitting in restaurant & proceeded to order seabass from this menu to be told that this had now been substituted for cod. So cancelled that & reverted to bar menu. Ordered to eat in my room (room services) due to hour wait ordered steak burger & specifically requested they send salt & vinegar. Also ordered chocolate fondant pudding. My meal arrived over an hour later to my room with no salt or vinegar as I had requested, no coleslaw side (as per menu) & no bacon or melted cheese on burger (as stated on menu!) Burger & chips was barely warm but tasted ok, chocolate fodant arrived at same time, it was £7 on menu & tiny, not worth the money the fondant wasn't gooey in the middle and the ice cream was half melted when it arrived let alone when I had eaten my main. Not impressed! Hotel rooms are Travel lodge standard at best & over priced if paying full price.

Barmaid incredibly miserable, empty food plates left for ages after we had finished, lager flat , my daughters mock tail was served up with no ice in all fairness the food was good, but the bar person we found was rude and ruined our meal by being this way. It’s happened every time she is on so we shall never set foot in there again, we use the Post House now 5 stars.
