I have been wanting to go here. And finally did! Small cosy restaurant. Wonderful staff, brilliant service and food was amazing. Would like to go again but seems to be closed when we pass by.

Extremely tasty food. The staff were nice and answered any questions I had. I ended up eating the same amount as the couple opposite me as the food was so good.

A 3 month spell living in Seoul has given me a lifelong love of Korean cuisine and I can easily say this is the best Korean meal I have eaten in the UKThe food is fresh, bursting with flavour and, most importantly, 100% authentic and it is hands down the best meal I have eaten out this year. For me ambience and/or pretentious luxury will always come a distant second to the quality of the food and places like this are one in a million. I had bibimbap tonight with various banchan and kimchi and I will be going back tomorrow to try more of the amazing menu.

I love this place, so much so that I drive 45 mins just to eat here. The chicken wings are the best I have ever had, the cheese buldak is oddly addictive and the bibimbap is the most comforting thing I have eaten in a long time. The staff are great, it gets full fast and can seem chaotic but I think that adds to the whole thing. Last time I went they were closed, I am not ashamed to say I nearly cried. Take cash as they do not take cards.

We went on a Friday evening. We went quite early hoping to beat the crowd, but they just had few tables sat down just before me, so they were swept off their feet. There were signs asking customer to be patient and a hiring sign outside. When the food finally turned up, they were very good, very authentic. The menu outside, menu on the TV screens, and the menu are not matching each other, so it is a bit confusing.Food is ace, will definitely go back, hopefully they will be more organised next time.

A little gem of a restaurant, very unassuming from the outside but don't be fooled! I went with a group of friends and we ordered a few dishes and shared, would recommend doing this so you can try lots of the menu. We arrived at opening at 4 and by 5 it was nearly full, so be aware its very popular! Would recommend the yangnyum chicken, haemul pajeon and dolsot jeyuk-deopbap(also it is cash only)

I've been here four or five times now in the past 2 months and the food has always been superb! The service can be a little slow at busy times (like anywhere else) and it may not be a fine dining experience to necessarily impress the other half (at first), but when the food does come it is certainly worth the wait!Would highly recommend the yangnyum chicken, the cheese buldak and the Japchae as all three are incredible.I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Very basic décor. Food took a long time to arrive. I ordered spicy which it definitely wasn't. Portions were small and did not come with rice (we weren't asked if we wanted any). Two meals and one orange juice cost over £30. VERY expensive. When we wanted to pay, they wouldn't accept bank cards of any sort! NO MENTION OF THIS ANYWHERE - not when we arrived or on the menu. We were forced to wait a long time while a bank transfer went through! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

Some of the nicest kimchi I've ever eaten! The staff are happy to walk you through the menu, explaining what things are. Their food is absolutely amazing and probably some of the nicest Korean food I've ever eaten. None of the food I've eaten was particularly spicy but the flavour was amazing. Exceptionally happy and excited to go again!

Looked for a easy meal near Welford Road stadium. Excellent find. Don’t be put off by the outside. This is a cafe style restaurant serving delicious Korean food, lovely flavours. I don’t think it’s licensed....we had a pot of green tea. Most of the eaters where Korean. The waiter was rushed off his feet. Cash only. If you like fresh, spicy food you’ll enjoy Onggi.

I've been here 3 times and it's always been good. We booked for a party of 12 people (they don't usually take bookings but made an exception) and they looked after us really well. There aren't many vegetarian items on the menu but they are happy to suggest dishes and adapt to suit.

Absolutely sublime food from a small, quant restaurant. Watching and hearing the chefs cook whilst you wait really makes you appreciate the food all the more. A small restaurant however which I would imagine can at times become rather crowded.

A simple cafe on the outside but incredible food on the inside. We spent the rest of our evening talking about how delicious it was. A varied menu, excellent service and good value. We'll definitely be back.

This was one of the best experiences I had living at Leicester. The food is amazing and the service is outstanding. Even though they only accept cash, still is one of the nicest places to have a dinner with friends or by yourself

No cards accepted, cash only! Casual informal setting, waiter helped me decide what to eat. Chicken fried dumplings were crispy and fresh, and the beef and egg soup very filling, nice and spicy, served with nice, but not a big amount of beef

The friendly waitress explained the menu, including which dishes were spicier, and we chose two starters and three main courses between the three of us. The food was excellent. There was plenty, if anything we had ordered too much.

The food here is really good. I've been to Korea and the food here is as good as I remember it to be there. It's a cosy place and they don't take cards so bring cash, but the staff are friendly.

No bookings taken here, but luckily we got a table in this busy little restaurant. The menu was authentic and varied - we were spoilt for choice. The staff were friendly and accomodating. Delicious food and at reasonable prices. Thoroughly recommend. We will be back.

Finally made it to try out some Korean cuisine! Clean little restaurant with lovely smiley staff. Menu is quite interesting. I ordered squid and vegetable and rice in a 'hot bowl' which was simply amazing! Was offered two small dishes of complimentary salads which were also really good. The down side is that cash only is accepted but the cuisine was amazing! Highly recommended!

I've never been to Korea. I know little about their cuisine. I've had it in Birmingham and in Hong Kong before. Onggi is my favourite Korean and one of my favourite restaurants.

Always loved Korean food but it's a bit hard-put to find really authentic ones that are not too pricey or not mixed with other Asian/Chinese cuisine in the Midlands. Until now. Onggi is casual, bright and friendly. Service is good and food is authentic and excellent. We had the Sundubu-jigae, beef bulgogi dolsot, Japchae and spicy squid dolsot - the squid was so tasty that we ordered another one just for sharing! The restaurant is run by Koreans, with Korean chef(s). Highly recommended.

When I saw a Korean restaurant had opened in Leicester, I was so excited! We went with another couple who have dabbled in Korean cuisine and we all had a great experience.

I have to admit. I am not familiar with Korean food apart from the usual BVQ, ramen and kimchi. Onggi is a good addition to Leicester's growing repertoire of ethnic cafe/eateries. I ordered the steam egg casserole and the beef bulgogi rice bowl. Both were very nice, though being use to Chinese home cooking I have expected the steam egg to be silkier and smoother. At £6.50 per portion, this is a little dear. The beef bulgogi itself was tasty, loaded with vermicelli and veg. We got servings of kimchi, which goes extremely well with the beef. We did enjoyed ourselves and would be back again.

Visited a couples with Korean friends, and the we all thought the food was authentic. You often find korean restaurants are run by Chinese chefs, but this one is run by Koreans. There is a nice range of dishes to suit everyone's taste. Barbecue, soups, rice dishes, etc.

Never eaten Korean food before, but I can promise I will eat here again! Recommended by the friend that I went with! They give free kimichi and refills - a pickled cabbage dish that is great! Had spicy pork ribs in a soup with rice, and a seafood udong noodle dish. Would highly recommend this to anyone who loves eastern Asian food!

I have been twice already, with my wife and with friends. The restaurant is nice inside, can probably seat 20-25 people. We went as a group of 16!

Was disappointed with this place. The reviews suggested it was great. The food was bland bordering on tasteless and there was no atmosphere for new year's eve. Hate saying this but was not worth the money spent.

Firstly, the manager denied I had booked a table. I explained that I had booked online and followed up by phone. He found the booking, clearly marked, and said ‘oh, you’re last’. His attitude then and throughout the meal was surly and abrupt. The other staff were polite and attentive. The food was tasty, but the portions were meagre. A main course chicken sizzler consisted of 4 small pieces of chicken. I spoke with the manager about his attitude as we left. His was not apologetic and just said that the restaurant was busy. A busy restaurant, heaven forbid! I pointed out that he could be busy and polite at the same time. A couple at the table next to us overheard my conversation and said that he had been rude to them also. My friends and I won’t be returning.
