Great service The good and drinks were exceptional. Everything from decor to the staff is perfect. Cocktails were delicious and although we were only there for a short while we felt very welcome.

Lovely food, all very tasty, fresh, and generous portions.

The restaurant is beautiful and the staff is really nice. We ordered a green curry, fried noodles, fried egg rice and squid. The food is really nice and deserves to pay a visit again.

Giggling Squid in St. Martin’s Square, Leicester, is a decent spot for Thai food. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff provide good service. While the food was enjoyable, the menu could benefit from being a bit clearer to make choosing dishes easier. Overall, a nice experience, worth a visit if you’re in the area and craving Thai cuisine!

Delicious Thai food, attentive friendly staff, good atmosphere.

I've walked past loads of times and love cooking Thai food myself, so thought, today's the day, a birthday celebration too. I had pork dumplings as a starter omg divine, and a cocktail Thai style Rum and something lol and for main Slow cooked beef with cabbage and green beans, omg it was absolutely amazing and tender, I had jasmine rice with it, wanted a dessert but, couldn't quite fit one in. Ooh well next time. Gona get my partner to come too next time hell love it. Compliments to all involved, a very much enjoyed experience.

Fairly large restaurant and during early service, crammed a lot of people in a small area so was unnecessarily noisy. Food was lovely - fairly quick arriving, let slightly down by the service - very keen to take order without having much time to look at the menu, then had to chase them down later on to order more drinks and get the bill etc.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. We arrived at an almost empty restaurant, yet we were completely ignored. We had to flag someone down just to order drinks and food, despite the staff clearly having nothing else to do. That should have been the first warning sign. Then came the real horror – my food arrived with not one, but several long jet-black hairs. I have ginger hair, so they certainly weren’t mine. Absolutely revolting. I immediately called over the manager, who silently took my plate away and vanished. No apology, no explanation, nothing. We sat there waiting, assuming someone would at least acknowledge the situation. Instead, the only thing that came back was the bill, which was slapped down on the table while the manager walked off without saying a word. We even got up and looked at him, expecting some form of apology, but he just ignored us again. I initially sent an email to complain, giving them the chance to respond privately. But since that has clearly been completely ignored, I have no choice but to post this publicly. The level of disrespect, lack of hygiene, and sheer unprofessionalism is beyond belief.

WARNING 2 CASES OF FOOD POISONING Recently my wife and I went for a meal at the giggling squid (the only thing we ate that night), fast forward 8-9 hours after eating and we are vomiting from food poisoning at 3am. To add insult to injury, when bringing up the topic of a refund for the £76 we spent on food poisoning that night with the area manager, he refused to even consider a refund until we comply with a full investigation. All this regardless of the feelings and issues we faced from our visit here. If my review is still here I received no apology, refund or anything from giggling squid. However I will keep the memories of holding a potential refund as a blackmail for doing what management requires. As for the restaurant itself, the staff were attentive and friendly. Just food poisoning and terrible customer relationships mean this restaurant may just scar you Dr B

Bustling franchise with pretty authentic grub. Brilliant staff

Lovely restaurant, beautifully decorated. Delicious food, exquisitely spiced and great for vegetarians because of the wide range of vegetables in the dishes. The service was wonderful and caring especially for a lone diner - it was also comfortable because there were many lone diners clearly showing how welcoming the atmosphere is. Will have to visit other ones in different parts of England. Thanks again for the amazing meal.

Food did the job and service was incredible, which raises eyebrows. lt is quite astonishing how much you pay for microwaved food. The portion sizes are so abysmal they have to coat it in oil and salt to feel even slightly filling. Word of advice: come here really drunk or high, you’d eat anything without complaining

Visited Giggling Squid with a friend who is vegetarian. We were so excited and looking forward to it as had been raving ever since I visited the branch in Windsor. We sat down and ordered starters then mains, they had ran out of the lamb shank dish. The dish I had been craving for so long! Wish they would have told us when we booked the table or as soon as we walked in, we would have went elsewhere. The food was amazing, we loved the taste and felt was fair for the prices. Would recommend and visit again. The location is great in town too.

As an Asian I have heard mixed reviews about this place, I can say that some of the dishes although not authentic Thai but it’s very tasty. Service is second to none, great atmosphere for party 🎉

We had a big party last night and they found room to accommodate us. The food as always with Giggling squids was incredible the rising star red duck curry continues to be a favourite!

We wanted to try some authentic Thai Food and we went to Giggling Squid in Leicester St. Martins Square. The Starters were Delicious. I really enjoyed the Salmon Bites. These looked beautiful as they were served on edible leaves. For mains, I had Pad Thai Noodles and my Hubby Had Beef Steak. My Noodles came in a large bowl and extra spicy as i requested it. and delicious. My Hubby's Steak portion was also tasty but the portion was very small with most of plate filled with salad. This was a little disappointing because it costs £25 for this dish and he was still hungry so we ordered extra Rice. In my opinion for that price Rice or Noodles or Veg should come as a standard with this Dish. The Place was buzzing and packed and it was a great atmosphere. The service was good and staff were very polite and friendly. Overall Food was very Tasty but portion sizes for some dishes are very small and it's very expensive too. Our Bill came to almost £90 and my hubby was still hungry afterwards. Apart from that a nice place to dine.

Been here a few times this year, service is always very good and the place is buzzing. Food quality is very good but always seems a bit on the designer side rather than authentic, but that’s not a criticism more of a personal opinion. Good range of drinks, something for everyone. Ideally located in St Martins close to the city centre, no parking close by but there is plenty of parking in the city not too far away. Been here a few times and the food seems to be getting better all the time, the timid papaya salad is now full blown Thai flavourful, the pranee prawn were excellent and chilli basil gra pao chicken delighted the taste buds. Definitely worth trying, will be better going for more of the same again

Starters & 1 main dish were tasty, however the Pad Kee Mao & especially the Pad Thai were so greasy and oily, was like slime in the mouth and hard to eat…didn’t finish both dishes, staff never came to check in and didn’t seem too interested at the end when we mentioned it either- shame, other dishes might be better but wouldn’t come back.

Lovely food, lots of choice. The waitress said they didn’t do large beers but we found out they did draught Cobra after we’d placed an order! They did swap the small bottles though! It was a very busy Saturday evening and unfortunately we had a long wait for food. We would definitely come back to try other dishes. They have a special set menu 2 courses for around £23 which was great value and good choices.

Food was absolutely delicious! The rice was a bit dried tbh but the curry was really good and full of flavour! The place is really nice as well. I got the strawberry cooler drink and it’s so worth it! Would definitely go again!

Visited Giggling Squid last month for sit down to get non alcoholic drinks in a small group. We were told that we cannot order drinks only, so we ordered a starter to comply, but the staff there kept insisted that we need to order more food. We felt a bit uncomfortable but didn’t want to make a scene. She repeated the order and said it is a little less and left. We thought her attitude was odd and standoffish. While reading the menu outside there was nothing said we cannot order drinks only. The restaurant was nice, almost empty, but let down by the service.

Staff were attentive ( and friendly with it, if you need a few more minutes to decide they gave us time ), and the food was aromatic and fresh tasting. I loved the Crispy Squid Bits!

We have visited this restaurant over the years and had good experience. However, on our recent visit, the service was rushed. The lovely lady serving our table was possibly serving another table when our main courses arrived. They could have arranged the table to make room for the dishes to be placed nicely. On the contrary, the cup of tea was pushed and some of it actually spilled over. Our guests did not enjoy how the food was served. There was no apologies after such behaviour ( or may be they did not realise). The rest of the evening was ok as our lovely server returned to our table. We like Giggling Squid and would like to come back. Please can this be taken as a constructive feedback and service improved. Thank you.

Delicious food and brilliant organisation from the restaurant team for a group of 33 people (retirement meal back in April). Everyone raved about the service, we felt very looked after, and I’m sure that no-one was without a drink all evening. The restaurant team were great and supportive in arranging a set menu, we gave them the pre-orders & they managed a table plan against that on the day which meant everyone got the food they ordered in a timely fashion, plus they kept a tally on the bill for me so I knew when we getting close to the company budget which was super helpful for sure. Couldn’t recommend enough, thank you 🙏🏼

Tried a few other places for Saturday dinner but they were reservation only, so we came here. There were empty seats and could take us immediately. Maybe not the best sign on a Saturday night. I’ve had Pad Kee Mao in many places though out North America and Europe, and this was the blandest I’ve ever had. The noodles were cooked well but the rest of the plate, the part of the meal that’s supposed to add flavor, completely missed the mark. PAD KEE MAO CO Richly flavoured, spicy flat noodles with fine green beans, coconut tips, chilli, garlic and green peppercorns. Giggling Squid offers an authentic Thai dining experience in the heart of the city. The menu features a variety of flavorful dishes perfect for sharing. The food is consistently tasty, though the vegan and vegetarian options are quite poor and could be more extensive. The mocktails on the other hand are a pleasant surprise, with the Virgin Strawberry Chaser, Mango Chillin, and Lime Chaser all standing out for their refreshing and flavorful blends. Service is friendly and attentive, despite a 30 minute wait for dishes. Also like many restaurants A discretionary service charge of 10% to 12% is added to the bill. Parking can be a bit challenging due to the downtown location, but the overall experience at Giggling Squid is not bad at all.

Unbelievable food, simply tremendous. Chicken satay, one bite salmon for starters. So flavourful. Mains drunken ribs and tender pork hock. Both to die for.

Notwithstanding the noodles in my pad Thai were thin rather than flat/thick, the food itself was heavily greasy and sadly lacked any taste other than grease. Despite my order costing 25.00 it had to be thrown away it was genuinely inedible

Tasty well presented starters, albeit very small portions. We ordered three starters to share between the two of us. Squid, Chicken Satay and Spring Rolls, all were delicious. Sadly the mains were disappointingly bland and unauthentic. To accompany this, a small side of noodles at £5.25 and a tiny bowl of egg fried rice at £4.50 is ridiculous. £74.00 for two with water is extortionate for a chain restaurant. Sadly, independent Thai restaurants in Leicester centre are almost non existent. I will spend my money at Thai Kitchen in Littlethorpe in the future; where you can enjoy a fabulous authentic spicy Thai meal for a fair price.

We truly loved dining at “Giggling squid- Leicester”. The food is absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the “Green Thai curry with Jasmine Rice. The service is top notch as well. The staff is friendly,attentive and knowledgeable.We would like to make a special mention about “Chaya” for providing outstanding service throughout our meal.

It's a beautiful (very Instagram) environment and service is excellent. We ate when it first opened and weren't impressed with the vegetarian options so only just returned to try again. We had a veggie cashew stir fry with garlic noodles and the lunchtime veggie platter. It was a very mixed experience: the cashew stir fry was a bit bland, the noodles less so. On the platter, the green curry was excellent and the spring roll was OK. The stir fried veg didn't seem to go with anything, and was pretty bland. I think if you eat meat you would have a very different experience to us.

It's a chain without the feeling of a chain which is refreshing. Had a bad experience of the place on the opening night where I was turned away despite being completely empty. Gave it a swerve ever since. When I finally came to visit, the place was much larger than expected and felt open and yet retained an intimate quality which was nice. Staff were attentive and food was good quality. Has to be said, the food was not to my expectations however and I wasn't bowled over by anything I ate, which was a little disappointing. But I can't knock it for my own personal preferences and choices. Worth a try to see if it aligns with your tastes.

Downtown Thai restaurant with authentic flavours, offering the tapas set menu at lunchtime. For those not quite used to Thai spices, it cannot go wrong with the salt and pepper tapas set. It includes fried calamari, amazingly flavourful chicken wings, chicken curry and rice. The Thai milk tea is also authentic. There's also a green papaya salad with the same flavour as the streets of Thailand. The service is pretty good, but the food is served very slowly, almost a 20-30 minute wait at lunchtime. A tip of 10% or 12% is automatically added to the bill, although they state that it is discretionary, it is hard to say no in this case.

Waitress? Great. Atmosphere? Friendly; so why the four stars I hear you ask? Spring Rolls. The menu clearly said ‘Spring Rolls’ - NB the use of plural, indicating a minimum of TWO spring rolls. Below is an image of the ‘rolls’ received; it is in fact a singular roll, split into two.

Food was great and fresh, bit on the expensive side but the portions are huge so worth the money. Definitely recommend

NOT SUITABLE FOR MUSLIMS OR UNIQUE DIETARY REQUIREMENTS!. Absolutely shocking experience in this restaurant two of my close friends are Muslim, we went to this restaurant, as they have been to other branches in the past. Before sitting down, we checked if they had halal chicken, we asked the waiter who said the wings and duck spring rolls are not halal. Not a problem when they had been to giggling squid in Nottingham they swapped these items out. We sat down, the incompetent waitress didn't bring us a menu for my friends daughter who was eating with us. She only brought this out after we had ordered which meant a delay my friends daughter food being brought out. We tried ordering the lunch platters, two regular platters for my wife and I. Two platters for my friends, however we politely asked to swap the non halal items (wings and duck spring rolls) for just plain vegetarian spring rolls. Should be easy enough, cheapest thing on the menu, going to be significantly less from a cost perspective, as they are cheaper than both non halal items. The waitress said she will check, she went to the kitchen and said its not possible. My friends had mentioned they've been to the Nottingham branch and done the same thing. The waitress said ' we can't because of the way things are cooked and set out. Rubbish excuse It was late in the afternoon, we had a small child with us, we were going to go somewhere else to eat but decided with the little ones schedule we would just have to stay. Disappointed we asked to speak to the manager who gave the same rubbish excuse. We then had to order items separately for my friends and work with the manager to find a solution for the obnoxious chef who I can only assume is racist, who couldn't simply bring out the dishes as part of the meal deal, but make someone order each item separately which is the same thing. My friend did the math the meal was more expensive and asked then manager to cover the cost of the rice to make the expense more barable. Why did we have to come up with the solution for this ? Why is the chef particular about something but happy to serve the same dishes separately. This was shocking in 2024 to be in the middle of Leicester, which has such a strong Muslim community and not be able to swap items from the menu to facilitate someone's dietary requirements is ridiculous. I would ask the management to investigate this, it's truly unacceptable, nobody should ever feel singled out based on there background. The one star is for the food as it actually tasted good but the experience let a terrible tast in my mouth. I would have left 0 stars otherwise You failed at your mission to serve great tasting Thai food and a truly welcoming experience for our guests no matter how far our tentacles reach across the UK. We didn't feel welcome and will not return to your restaurant. I encourage others to reconsider before going here.

Excellent food, but quite expensive. One of the best Massaman curries (my go-to dish) that I have had. Coffees afterward a little disappointing.

We went for a birthday lunch on Sunday. The meal started well, drinks and starters were quick to arrive. However, mains were a totally different experience. The food was cold, had clearly been standing for a while as one dish had a "skin" on the sauce and the meat that was described as pink on the menu was overcooked. My main was served on a plate with a sizeable chip in it, not sure when it happened but as food was inedible anyway, I didn't risk it. Two of the mains were brought out after the other three and they were cold also. We paid for the starters and drinks, and were grudgingly given a 10% discount. We were all looking forward to the meal as it was for a birthday, unfortunately the experience was not one to get a redo.
