On Ho Chinese Takeaway in Cherwell

FOOD POISONING AVOID!! I ordered last night the food was vile. Food took nearly 1.5 hours to come. The meat looked like dog food, completely undercooked. Chicken balls were rubbery and I found a small bit of plastic inside. Rice was so dry it was the worse I’ve ever tasted. I called them to explain this food is inedible and not paying for this and they just said nothing can be done, useless. Anyway from what I did eat I ended up being sick/ on the toilet half the night. DO NOT EAT FROM HERE and I will be reporting- health and safety.

Very bland and soggy food , never again. Don’t waste your money

Not the fanciest Chinese food, but decent for the price. Nothing to complain about, but also nothing to jump and and down and get excited about. Honest Chinese grub that taste good and won’t kill the wallet.

Would have been no stars? Vile food. Mushy battered chicken balls Re-fried chips Fatty duck pieces in rice not shredded as stated. Chicken looked and tasted like tofu Really disappointed

Awful food, over cooked cold chips disgusting chicken like mush and “duck” (duck fat) ,when call back instantly after food was delivered cold they tried to blame the driver then tried to blame the weather for the awful food “we never do refund” just 25% off next order which will never be happening wouldn’t give the left overs to my dog £50 wasted wish i would of checked the reviews here before ordering!

It was my 1st time there and the shop was old and dated, like the 80s. I didn't care about that initially. The young women taking my order was cheerful and very polite. The food was bland and overpriced for what I got. The next morning my gut didn't agree with my choices, so I won't be returning.

The girl behind the counter the pigs the orders is absolutely awful very rude and I would not have a working in my shop as she hasn’t got a clue about business. I tried telling her what I wanted but she was trying to be too smart she needs to be sacked if they want the business to grow.

Given beef burgers instead of gammon, told they are sold as the same meat here, because she couldn’t accept a mistake. Awful service and so rude.

So we’ve just had a Onho take away, food was absolutely disgusting, chicken was soft almost like a mousse/foam consistency. 🤢 It’s a shame because food is usually really good. I spoke with girl at the desk for a refund, stating that I would bring the food back for them to see. She wasn’t A bit interested. She said we don’t give refunds, write a review, and then put the phone down. 🤦‍♂️🤣 Great customer service

First time to use on ho delivery not very nice I had duck chips and gravy Hardy no gravy duck horrible and dry chips warmed up not nice at all partner's chips dry aswell only good thing was partner's omelette sorry on ho won't be ordering again

By a long way the worst crispy duck I have ever had. Duck was gristly and was pre-chopped but rather than being shredded it was like it had been in food processor. Very disappointing.

Overcooked chips Dry rice Over cooked prawns Undercooked Chicken Sweet and Sour balls. Absolute disgrace and will not order from here again!

Gave 3 stars for friendly service only. Unfortunately food was bad! funny taste from beef & mushrooms,not fresh made me gag. Battered prawns very rubbery.Standards have gone down hill I'm afraid.☹️

I ordered special curry with boiled rice vegetables curry and rice and chicken chow main the food was absolutely rubbish rice was uncooked no taste in the curry to salty chow main uncooked whole food thrown in the bin never ever ordered again just waist money please be careful.

It was not good. Both of us had two separate dishes with king prawns and neither of us enjoyed them. They were tough and dry, couldn't bite through them easily and they were so smashed flat that they didn't even taste of prawn! The sesame prawn toast was also very dry. On a positive note though, the chow mein noodles and the egg fried rice were tasty. The sauces were fine. Finally, the tubs have holes in the lid so when we got the bag home, the sweet and sour had leaked all over the place. Not the end of the world though as there was still plenty of sauce in the tub.

Thw food is still good but the front of house is showing its age, some of the posters look like they have seen more than the last 15 years

My wife and son adore this place and being just down the road make it much more desirable

1st time used and wont use again rice and chips reheated food wasnt fresh there loss as i wont use again

I had accidentally ordered some food to the wrong house my friends, and I tried to call the place to ask them to cancel and couldn’t get through, they end up taking the food to the house and proceeds to knock until testing to see if the door was open, and came round the back and started flashing a light into the house

The large vegetable spring rolls are lovely. Biggest complaint is the ‘satay sauce’ which I would sooner call a soup, a really really thin soup. This is the second time ordering it, as a sauce for dipping… it’s farthest from. Trying to dip chips into it is useless, if it was thicker it would be perfect, much thicker.

Where to begin.... Ok well on ho you can thank my partner first for star no one she liked the beef curry and the spring rolls (as my partner hates the same dish in all other Chinese takeaways in Banbury that's a big feat so well done). The second star is for the gentleman who deliver the food he was displayed fantastic level of customer service and is a very likable person. NOW I'm sorry to say you received no stars from me and I will tell you why my duck chaw main was in seasoned coved in grease l bland to the point the only reason I know it was duck was the fact I ordered it the duck was also full of grease, The fried rice again bland greasy and I found a single piece of chicken in the rice (I did not order chicken at all) it is my hope that as a business that you address any and all failing that I have highlighted in this review and improve the quality of the food as On Ho has a lot of potential proven by the previous owner when I was living on the fairway.

Our Favourite Chinese in Banbury ! Everything always taste so lovely with big portions , and they do a really nice salt and pepper squid-I’ve had to try a few places and by far the best !

Excellent Take-Away Chinese food! Big portions with lots of flavour. They're also happy to cook individual dishes to your own taste, eg. Extra Spicy, different size noodles, etc. Great value for money and superbly cooked too!

had spare ribs in honey but not honey and not very fresh meat was hard and i ordered beef curry and got king prawn curry

This is the 1st time I've ordered a Chinese here and I definitely will be coming back again one of the most delicious meals I've tasted in a long time!

Had food from on ho meny times neaver been disappointed but wish they you started doing orders on line like the others...order from on ho tonight 6.3.21 and the food not as good as it has been the chicken.balls.were flat as a.pancake and the batter was still raw in the middle that I had to bi. Them dnt think.i will.irder from here again any time soon

Always a tasty well priced meal

I love this place, their beef chow mein is perfect and really caters for a person that can eat a whole portion by themselves, my boyfriend adores the egg fried rice and will eat it non-stop. My only complaint is that my beef chow mein always has more beansprouts than anything, it really would make this 5* if i had more noodles and beef than sprouts!!

This take away is great a pluging up my letter box with their menus , but they never answer the phone for a take out service !!! If you dont want my business then stop putting you junk through my door.

First take away from On Ho and the four of us were very pleased with the meal. Good choice of pretty standard items on the menu but well cooked and flavoursome. Sauces did not go gluppy. We will use On Ho again.

Phoned my takeaway order through, Vegetarian sweet & sour chicken, egg fried rice. Set meal B for 2 people, Roast chicken (Chinese style), sweet & sour chicken, king prawn with mushrooms, house special fried rice and prawn crackers. The shop is very clean and tidy, the staff very friendly, the order was just ready when I arrived to pick it up, the set meal for 2 was excellent, very tasty the chicken balls were quite large, the roast chicken was sliced with a very tasty sauce, the king prawn and mushrooms were perfect, the prawn crackers was quite large and all intact (not broken) the whole meal together was excellent. The vegetarian sweet & sour chicken was for my daughter and although I am a meat eater I would happily eat the vegetarian chicken as it was very tasty and well worth trying. If you are thinking of eating Chinese you must go here On OH the best in Banbury.

So it's Been nearly a year since my first review and all I can say it was 5 * then is 10* now .The food quailty and taste have been very consistent chips alone are very tasty and the chilli beef is absolutely delicious have tried a few other dishes and they were all very good.portion sizes are spot on you might even have some left for lunch .staff are very friendly always with a warm smile and a hello. let's you know your a valued customer Best in Banbury don't go anywhere else

On Ho is a great local restaurant. Food is always ready in 10 mins max. Staff are friendly and efficient. One fault is they don't accept cards which very odd these days. Other than that great place

slimy meat . pork balls was sliced meat in batter. not even round i ordered chicken balls and got pork balls. the whole meal was gross.

Ordered from here about a week ago it is now 1/11/2017 Ordered Salt and peper ribs (not bad) 3/5 Sweet and sour pork balls overal 2/5 Sauce very vinegary need some brown sugar adding to it to balance the flavour.(1/5) The pork balls had been stollen from sliced pork and was flat disk shape more like coins. However they was ok also 3/5 Satay sauce well where do i start tasted more like scwuachen sauce it was hot, no peanuts not even peanut butter to try to cowboy it no. I feel it needed peanuts peanut butter cocnutmilk or splash of double cream. ( 0/5 very poor in my honest opinion) Also ordered special rice whitch was cooked well and the food was hot thats my stars counted for.

Pretty good Chinese meals, they let you swap the items in the set meals which personally I find great!

Food was ok not crap not grate but if your hungry and need food fast it's 👍

Food was ok, not too greasy. Chips were a bit soggy, but special fried rice was very good and a large portion.
