Shan Shui in Cherwell

We stopped off for a quick bite after walking to Langford Henge and Jubilee Lake. The food and service were great, especially Suzanne. However, the tea was a disappointment. It wasn't very hot and there was no tea in the pots so the refills were just hot water.

Worst food I had . Chicken curry was the worst . Only choice in Chinese halal at the moment

I really enjoyed the food here and the service was amazing as well. A must try would be: prawn wontons and udon noodles.

The seafood noodle was bad. It was not warm, and some seafood was even cold inside and was not heated up enough. The red pepper was also cold and uncooked. Noodle was slightly warmer, but it was not fried enough.

Shan Shui Restaurant is a restaurant that must be visited after shopping at the Bicester Village Factory Outlet. The restaurant is comfortable & the food is delicious. Our tour group from Indonesia gives suggestions for travelers to stop by at Shan Shui Restaurant. Top Markotop 👍👍👍

It is overhyped and overrated. Food is okay but overpriced. I'll suggest heading to itsu if you are that hungry, else go outside the village.

The food was tasty but the price was high for the quality. The place was cold and the darft was constant. The service was OK but not the best and note worth the 12.5 % service charge they like to add on. The food came out quick, but the cold temperature meant you had to eat the food very fast. My friends had mixed options.

Food was nice enough but fairly standard. Service was fine. Tables too close together so a bit squashed in. Left the restaurant feeling a bit duped. A member of my dining group read out the total to pay whilst I used my credit card to cover the total bill. Upon paying the machine asks how much tip you want to leave implying that the bill was for food and drink only. I added a tip but after leaving I was shown the bill which showed that service had already been included. Fair to say I should have checked the bill first before paying but I think it is extremely crafty to add a service charge and then ask for an extra tip on top. Needless to say I will not be returning to this restaurant next time I am shopping in Bicester Village.

Great experience I ever been having with one of the airport restaurants. We had duck on the rice and chicken salad. Highly recommended to this place , if you pass through the Heathrow Terminal 2. There is kind of hidden gems at the corner of the airport.

Shan Shui in Bicester, Oxford, delivers a fantastic dining experience with its fully halal menu. I ordered the Singapore Laksa Noodles, which tasted just so-so... and tasted like something you would eat just to fill your stomach. There were a lot of people when we went there. We shared a table with others and it was very crowded. Because we ordered some shared dishes, the waiter kept telling us to put them in front of us as much as possible without putting them out. It was like watching you finish one dish and then take another one away immediately.

Authentic Chinese cuisine verified by me as a Chinese. The crispy chicken is juicy and every bite burst in my mouth. The Shanghai spring onion noodle is slightly different from the one in china, as it uses more bouncy egg noodles instead of the original wheat noodles, but the original taste is mostly preserved. The curry chicken is not too salty, which makes the chicken a perfect combination simply with the potatoes inside the dish, no rice needed. A wide range of chinese tea options are available, but the taste is light so I suggest the restaurant to put tea leaves into the pot. Suggest you to reserve early, the waiting time during peak time period can be up to 90 min.

Overpriced, terrible food. Seems like they put wasabi sauce on top of everything . Their sichuan chicken was just fried chickens and red chillies! Literally no sauce!!! They add service charge and refused to take it off when requested. Unfortunately I didn’t tally the cost of my bill there and didn’t take a copy either but later on realised I was over charged and as from other reviews this seems a norm. Pathetic! Would not recommend

Whenever I visit Bicester I always eat at Shan Shui, the food is really good. Portions are quite large so I would recommend sharing between 2 people. The only issue is that you cannot book at all, which is annoying when you have 8 people. Their answer is that you'd just have to wait until a table became free, yet I've seen them seat 2-3 people on the bigger tables, why not have them wait for the smaller tables to become free?

Highly recommended. Must come. Authentic fried chili and free diced chicken. Smoked Seafood Udon, Quick Frozen Siomai, Mini Chaoshou, it is recommended to eat with an ear scoop Three pounds a cup 🥃apple juice

Very authentic Chinese food. The spicy chicken is full of spicy food. Friends who are allergic to chicken can use it with confidence. The quick-frozen siomai shrimp dumplings are exactly the same as the garbage in China. Relive the scenery of the motherland. No matter how much you eat, you won’t get fat because it feels like you haven’t eaten it.

Friendly service and nice resturant. Food came quickly. We had the Prawn dumpling and chicken boa buns, tasted good. Only let down was main portion sizes disappointingly small for almost £17 with rice/noodles not included

Be prepared if you order something spicy it will be HOT. Limited options for dining in Bicester Village, and this is consequently busy with queues. The food is reasonable. Service is fine. The biggest issue on a cold day is the automatic door which is constantly opening, and sitting anywhere near this means a very cold draft.

We had Singapore laksa! You know how Singaporean lives their laksa? It’s cooked just right and the spicy feeling taste straight away zap u back to Singapore! Oh goodness! The best laksa ever, the closest you get or even better than home! Guys you gotta try and rate it yourself! Sorry finished mine and never had I thought about reviewing this! Set in the heart of the very popular Bicester Village retail outlet and therefore easy to access if shopping. The service is good with attentive waiters, but the food is mediocre at best and everything seems ‘microwaved’ as opposed to ‘wok’ so not as authentic a Chinese food as initially thought. However, judging by the popularity of Chinese / Asian shoppers / tourists perhaps I’m wrong! Only visit is shopping and for small plate snacks as the rest of the menu is expensive for just a shopping replenish. I would stick to grabbing a Pret on the go and power through my shopping as there’s many more authentic Chinese eateries around Bicester / Surrounding area.

Virtual queue showed 380min wait. Where people basically show up, scan the QR code and carry on with their shopping while others who want to eat need to join the virtual queue.

Shan Shui merupakan restoran Cina Malaysia di Bicester Village. Pada Shan Shui is a Malaysian Chinese restaurant at Bicester Village. Generally the food is fairly good (the sambal fish is among the best dishes) and service is excellent. The waitress that served us was attentive and patient. However, as a Malaysian, I'd say the beef rendang needs more work as it the beef is quite tough. The beef rendang needs to be tender. Anyway, beef rendang is best served with jasmine rice or sticky rice (not available at the restaurant).

Do remember to CHECK THE PRICE ON YOUR BILL! 注意复核账单！Food is also over-priced (£4.5 for a small bowl of rice), small portions yet not authentic at all Long story short, the items on our bill had higher price than the menu. When we raised this issue, we were provided with multiple “explanations” - from “you probably remembered the wrong price”, to “we updated the menu”, then finally “it was a system mistake”. Also, when I shared this experience on RED (a popular Chinese social media), within 7hrs many people left comments saying same “system error” happened to them before. Now it’s difficult to believe it really was just a careless mistake/system error rather than a scam. Here’s what happened- When we got the bill, I noticed that the price of some items didn’t seem right and I checked this with the photo of their menu in my phone (I took it for my friend to order his food as he was queuing to pay at a shop). Once confirmed, I raised this to the staff and was told that maybe my memory’s a bit off cuz the system had the prices listed as such. I then showed him the menu picture I had on my phone along with the timestamp. Then I got a new excuse: “The menu has recently been updated, and you probably got an old version." We were sure that the menus we all had were the same and there was no chance of only me receiving the wrong menu due to a careless mistake (we had complained about the price of the bubble tea before ordering 😂). We also felt that it wasn’t reasonable to be charged extra after ordering based on the menu prices. The staff went to talk to someone at the till then apologised to us that was a system error, and that they would correct the prices for us. At this point, we asked if they could also remove the service charge. Shockingly, his response was, "I’ll ask." (While this was a discretionary charge anyway, and it’s not hard to understand why we wouldn’t want to pay it). Finally, we received an updated bill, but oddly, some item prices were still incorrect. However, they gave us a 10% discount overall and removed the service charge, so we didn’t dig deeper and just paid and left. Apparently they got to do this multiple times knowing people wouldn’t want to make a big scene on a shopping day. Not sure if this really was just a simple error, or a planned scam, just hope this review can help anyone avoid such kind of off-putting experience.

A lot of people ordered nasi goreng, so we ordered it too. In addition to nasi goreng, they also provide two skewers and fried shrimp-flavored chips. Fried eggs are also half-boiled, so you can mix them together. I recommend it because it tastes good and the quantity is generous. In the case of stir-fried udon, the amount is a little small and the red paprika is cut into large pieces. The overall taste wasn't bad. Because it was an outlet, the price was a bit expensive. And since I pay later, there is a separate service fee attached. I don't know if they were forced to tip because they didn't ask for a tip, but it was more than expected due to the service charge.

We ordered a few starters and some dim sum, and the food was absolutely terrible. My wife actually had to spit out the chicken dim sum because it was so bad, something we’ve never had to do at any Chinese restaurant before. The taste was awful, and it left us questioning how Bicester Village could allow such a poor-quality restaurant to occupy such a prime location, especially in a shopping centre with limited dining options. We ended up returning the food and leaving without ordering anything else, as we didn’t want to let the bad experience ruin my wife’s birthday further. We didn’t even complain because it was meant to be a special day, but I wouldn’t recommend anyone waste their time or money here. We’ll stick to Pret or Itsu next time, and I strongly advise everyone to do the same.

Can't knock the food as it was very nice, and our servers were very polite. However, one of the head staff members seemed a bit annoyed and was passive-aggressive to his staff in front of us. On the food, it was lovely.

I recently visited Shan Shui Restaurant and tried their amazing food. The flavors were unique and the overall experience was enjoyable. However, I did have one issue with my order. I got the chicken curry, and unfortunately, the chicken came with the skin on, which I personally found unappetizing. I would have preferred it without the skin, as it made the dish less enjoyable for me. Other than that, the food was great, and the ambiance was nice.

The restaurant is delightful and comfortable, with friendly and respectful waitstaff, especially George and Greta.

A wonderful lunch with my son. The staff and the food was delicious. The staff were all incredibly well humid, kind and looked after as extremely well. We should definitely return

I arrived at 7:34pm and was told I can only order take away. I was in shock to learn that! All restaurants in the village close at 9pm and I walked into a Resturant nearby and experience no problem to dine it. Horrible hospitality by the Chinese waiter

I’m extremely disappointed visiting here today. I did read the reviews before coming and thought maybe people are just over exaggerating about the food being the worse. But no… they were right! Right to say not to visit this place. The only items that were nice were Dim Sim Chicken and Mushroom and the Calamari. We ordered about £100+ which including 3 mains and what a rip off! I think that dish with the million chillies is such a gimmick! It’s the same chicken they offer in starters but only thing they add it in the main course is peanuts, spring onions and a bit of ginger with again MILLION RED CHILLIES. And it was SO SO DRY that I couldn’t even have 4th-5th bite. Though we already ordered the chicken bites in starters - no one in service cared enough to say that it’s the same chicken we are ordering for the main course. I was so happy to hear that we have an option for halal food. There is so much potential though and it could be better. Wont be visiting again though. There are better places with better food and service. Truly disheartened.

Very disappointing experience at Shan Shui Bicester Village. I ordered a £24 ( Chicken malayi main dish , it was same chicken as our starter! The plate was filled 70% with dry chilies, leaving barely any actual food. For the price. Starters were decent and can’t complain but I expected much better in the main course. Definitely not worth it

It was good but I suggest the portion size for the starters is increased. The 2 buns were not worth the price.

Honestly I don’t even know where to begin. So we ordered the mala chicken - waiter seemed a bit shocked that we wanted it but it was raved about I mean we hardly received any chicken we got a plate of chilli which truly isn’t edible in anyway we tried because we were actually lost as to why we received a plate of chilli. The vermicelli wasn’t great either it was super bland. The service was pretty good but not worth a gratuity charge like you just brought over a plate of food overall I’m so disappointed with the food that we won’t be coming here again. You are one of the only halal places to eat in Bicester and you have taken advantage of that by providing subpar food

First visit to Bichester outlet and came upon Shan shui restaurant. Decided to have a try. The udon noodles was abit sweet for me. I would definitely come back to try other food. Service was good and friendly.

Found this halal restaurant in bicester village, was abit skeptical at first but went ahead and booked a table. Thoroughly enjoyed my vermacelli chicken and my Mrs ordered wok fried chicken and rice which was amazing. Highly recommend visiting if coming to Bicester Village.

The only restaurant in Bicester Village!! Definitely go Calamari is really, really delicious and the seafood noodles are also really delicious!!

Very small portions, Service was not the best. We arrived at 8.20pm around 8.55 they was rushing us to pay so they can clean up. Would I come back when I am in Bicester again? No. The price your paying the portions are very small.

Had crispy chicken with a wonderful sauce, plus egg fried rice and a very nice chilli oil. Some of the other customers' behaviour was a bit uncivilised (loud burping). Maybe it's ok where they come from, don't know. Will be back anyway

It is really terrible Chinese food. Poor quality, not authentic at all. We ordered vegetables curry, it turned out just 5 baby potato sitting in curry source. No green leaves at all.

Today, 21/4/24-Sunday, I went shopping at Biceater Valley with my husband. And we went to this Shan Shui @ Bicester Valley for lunch. My husband & I enjoyed the food there. Food is tasty, unique, and well presented. Services were excellent. Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I needed to book in advance 2.5 hours in advance for my lunch during Christmas. The queue system will alert me when it was my turn. If I didn't turn up within 15 minutes, then my reservation would be cancelled. Taste wise, just mediocre. Nothing special. In fact, it was too pricey compared to the small portion given. Not value for money. 2 stars But the ambience here was comfortable. Not like pret a manger or itsu that was always full house and no social distance

I recommend the beef rice noodles, which are delicious. The prawn fried rice has large and fresh shrimps. The rice is just plain. The seasonal vegetables are Qingjiang vegetables, but the processing method is different from Taiwan, which is very good. The fried dumplings are pretty good too

Quick and friendly service. Nice decor. Food was of good quality. Lovely starters. As for a main, I do recommend Mala Chicken. I usually eat spicy but have to warn anyone that unless you eat naga chilli level, stay away from Nasi Goreng. Minor downside, place is very small for a restaurant. You have to wait in the virtual queue and constantly keep an eye on the notifications.

Other customers were prioritised over us repeatedly even before we entered the restaurant, from waiting for our seats to ordering our food to payment. Even our food portions were ridiculously smaller than other customers. Not sure why we were discriminated against while others receive preferential treatment. Food wasn’t even that good

Honestly I am surprised the place is only rated 4.0 on google. It was amazing. The staff were very attentive and the food was better than great. I had chicken and mushroom dim sum and pan fried gyozas for starters. When i say I wanted to order more I mean it. They were really pleasant and some of the best I had. I also had the chicken satay because I wanted to try it, it was recommended to me by friends. It was good and seasoned beautifully but just the peanut sauce was too sweet for my liking. Maybe it was not the dish for me. I also had the king prawn fried rice, the portion was huge and filling so it explains the price. The fried rice was definitely above average but I had better. The king prawns with it were really great and seasoned beautifully. I also tried a some of their popular tea. I had to iron goddess of mercy. Really interesting name. It was really light and refreshing. Definitely coming back and trying more dim sums and other mains :)

The saving grace was the sambal chili, with delightful pickled vegetables. The prawn fried rice was passable but nothing exceptional. We left around 11:30 AM, and the restaurant was already bustling. As they only accept walk-ins, be prepared for potentially lengthy wait times. If you're craving Asian cuisine while in the area, it's an option. However, considering the wait, it might not be worth the time investment. Exploring nearby eateries could offer better alternatives.

Wow , what a great experience 🤩 George served us and the service level were more than 5 stars . The food was great and the restaurant standards are absolutely perfect. Clean and cosy also a very welcoming place to come. The price is great and I will definitely recommend George and the staff services to my family and friends.

Bit disappointed to be honest , the service was extremely fast and the place is spotless , however the food let it down somewhat . Jasmine rice was spicy , not expecting that !! The chicken coconut curry had just a few pieces of meat , the remainder was potato to bulk it out and a very watery sauce . Not rich and creamy as the menu stated more like bland and greasy . The chicken was the cheaper cut and slimy in texture . Didn’t enjoy this and I’ve made better at home . The vermicelli chicken was an improvement and the dumpling's were quite pleasant . Value for money ?? No sorry far from it . Great service ?? Yes cannot fault the staff . Plenty of space ?? No it’s cramped . Would I return ?? Sadly no .
