This Chinese is the best! Me and my grandad always get it, they always have the best chicken chow mein and they always make it with the skinny noodles especially for me, the food is always hot and has good portion sizes, it also doesnt take long for them to make and it is 100% my favourite chinese ever!

Always good value and a pleasure to take home and eat. However due to a run on beef meals they could not complete my order. This is a first for me but readily substituted with chicken. Delicious!

Great customer service and excellent food

Still fantastic food at the Poplar. Have used them for years and always superb. Great choices and lots of flavour..spare ribs are fantastic. When the far flung family come to stay it is either "Can we go to the pie Pub or have a Chinese" ..and we do both in equal measure. Fantastic local takeaway that deserves all the support it can get. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

I use this takeaway quite a bit. It’s always good. It’s not a high end restaurant, it’s a local takeaway and the cooking is always good and the owner and his staff are always polite. I would ignore the fairly unkind comments about hygiene as I understand that it’s was a minor error that has been sorted out.

Hygiene. Check out their recent Council rating, zero out of five. Have purchased there for years but why risk when its hygiene is called out as really poor.

I’ve had a few good meals from here but recently they have been very poor. Order two Chinese curry’s, one was half empty, both were cold. Check your food before you leave.

Good Chinese takeaway for anyone staying or living in the Deddington area. Friendly staff and food cooked quickly. Very reasonable prices.

Sadly it's gone down hill. A regular for many years disappointed last night. The prawn toasts were frankly disgusting, deep fried bread with a terrible topping. And the crispy beef cooked too long and leathery.

I came to work in your village from London and I was looking for something close to me to buy food and I found this small restaurant and I bought food, so incredible food, an authentic and very fresh taste and a very good and polite waiter, I recommend this restaurant 5 stars for absolutely no matter what. Thank you

Portions are so small this place no longer offers good value for money as a takeaway. Nice service, and it's a shame but I will not be visiting this takeaway until they up their portion size.

Good Chinese with friendly service

Had takeaways years ago and it was good now I'm afraid it's gone downhill, food was terrible, cold chicken overdone. Crispy beef not much of it and again overcookedMy dog couldn't even eat the lemon chicken it was hard very bad chinese. Won't be going again unless they get their act together

With no competition in the village this takeaway has gone down hill. Less and less meat in every dish, and increasing levels of cheap filler such as onion. No longer good value. Prefer Thai to Go delivered, and the Vi-gan Punjabi local offering beats it hands dow,

Meal was lovely, but when we ordered we were told it would be ready in 1 hour and 10 mins, which was fine, but I still had to wait another 20 minutes on top of the 1 hour 10 minutes, which was not fine!

Honestly the best Chinese there is. Loveliest people and tastiest food. Nothing else like Popular !

Fantastic food as always and great service. He's at to order by phone as can be a long wait. Easy parking too.

Bought fish and chips fish had literally pouring grease out of the batter, ruined clothes, peas yuck and chips tasted vile. Can't comment on Chinese food had I've, not tried it. Personally don't want to.

An hour and 20 minute wait to collect and then forced to wait another 30 minutes only to be given the wrong order of someone else's cold, half cooked "meat". Criminally incompetent business.

Had to wait a really silly time for the food, they had had an unprecedented rush and it was obvious they were crumbling. Ordered King Prawn curry and it really was delicious.

Reasonably priced and have a good verity of dishes.

I come here frequently and there timing is horrendous. I ask every time if it will be ready and realistically when it’s likely to be ready to collect just to make sure and every time without fail it runs anywhere between 25mins and 1 hour behind. Leaving me waiting with 15 other people who also have there orders incorrectly timed. Advice for the owners, just give a realistic time frame. It’s appalling for this to be occurring on a weekly basis. Especially when I ask several times how long it will be - just to be consistently lied to. Poor service.

Friendly staff & great food as always

Moved house last year and this is my local takeaway. Regular Fish and Chips at lunchtime, Chinese for an evening treat. Never let us down. Decent value.

Best Chinese in Deddington, between myself and my partner we've tried quite a few of their mains and starters and can happily say we've not had a bad one to date. Polite, friendly staff with fairly priced, delicious tasting meals.

This has got too be the best Chinese around, we have tried quite a few dishes and never had a bad 1. it's just a shame they don't deliver

It's ok. Not the best but not the worst. You get what you pay for.

Staff were very helpful and sent the Menu via 'Whatsapp' so that we could all make our choice, ready for the family members to collect the order. They did not have to wait long and the food was still nice and hot when they returned. Everyone enjoyed their Chinese meal and would definitely choose to go there again for a take-away.

This is the second visit for us, delicious take away once again, very friendly staff, and ready for collection on time.

Used to use very regularly when i lived in the village of deddington and standards havnt changed 8 years down the line still strong some times a bit of a wait but personally id rather wait and get something worth waiting for rather then rushed and shoved in a box I do travel still quite regualr just for some chinese food from this location specifically.

This place offers carry out Chinese food. Honestly it’s the best place we’ve found in the area. They are average priced, but the cook/owner is very friendly. Whenever we want Chinese this is where we go!

This is a modest family run Chinese takeaway and it 'does what it says on the tin' Sometimes they are busy so be patient and understanding as they are trying to do their best! There is a huge selection of dishes and the food is good quality Portions are huge though so if you’re a big eater you won’t be disappointed Never had a bad meal here and BCF thoroughly recommends the Popular Chinese Restaurant

Great food a Deddington essential!

Terrible fish and chips. Stodgy, greasy batter on the fish. Same on the awful tasting battered sausage. stale tasting chips Long wait for poor food, won’t be back again.

We first used Popular last November as it was so late and nothing else open. we were pleasantly surprprised! Good chips and nice CHinese. Last night we had satay chicken and crispy chilli chicken with very good mini veg spring rolls. The vegetarian sinapore noodles were good too . Only one we didn't like was the duck with cashew nuts - too much onion and skin on the duck. Would use it again.

We had driven past this place for years and one day decided to try it. We are so pleased we did, and it is now the only takeaway we use. The food is great and the service is very pleasant.

We always loved this place as a take away so having family to visit my husband went out to pick it up, assuming it would be better than our usual delete from Banbury. So disappointed it was luke warm, tasteless and a let down. We won’t be back and won’t recommend again others do better

Found this little gem and I will never go elsewhere best service best authentic Chinese. Love it.

Very busy takeaway. They also serve small portions as regular fish and chips is usually too much. At £4.50 certainly a good buy

Lovely food polite staff well priced

We ordered over the phone and the price quoted £95. On arrival it was £112. When home 3 dishes missing! We phoned to explain and was not well received on the other end. So my niece and daughters returned the 15 min drive to be confronted by a lady who was clearly cross who called them liars in front of many customers who most of them were not happy also with their orders. My niece cried once home and my upset daughters told us we were banned from ordering again! A lovely birthday celerbration not! Food is great and we have lost count of how many dinners we have ordered from there. Very disappointed.

This is a great Chinese take away for the area. The crispy chicken and the chilli chicken (stater) are excellent and we order them frequently. Whilst the Chinese is good, so are the chips. It is really well priced. It is worth phoning as on a busy weekend you can wait for up to 45 mins, so making a phone call from the comfort of your home is well worth it.

Came up to see family for the Easter weekend. Couldn't be bothered to cook so came to get a take away..... Worst choice we ever made. Not only was the food aweful but we had to go home but spent the rest of the weekend with the worst cases of food poisioning ever! Wish i'd kept a sample to send off. AVOID LIKE THR PLAUGE.

Hay unos cuantos chinos Takeouts en nuestra zona, así que a veces nos probar diferentes seres, en vez de adherirse a nuestro habitual. Steve tenía la carne con pimienta y salsa de judías greeb negro y dijo jt era increíble, sólo tenía un pato crujiente con tortitas, que también era muy agradable, habría estado bien que han sido triturados, pero eso no fue un problema. Estaba ocupado y era una media hora de espera de ordenar, que estaba bien, y es bonito ver que estaban ocupados! Chica detrás del mostrador era muy amable, sin duda, volveremos!

This is a nice little takeaway restaurant in a little village. The food is very well cooked,it is very tasty and is very well priced. We visit here on all our visits to the area.

Myself and my wife were staying in Bloxham and picked up a takeaway from hear. It was averagely priced and the service was quick. The food was very good and plentiful. Will definitely go back.

The service is outstanding, the menu fairly priced and the food is delicious. Best takeaway in the area by far.

The people in the popular are so nice, I highly recommend their chicken burger if you are ever passing by and feel peckish.

I've used this takeaway for a couple of years, I've found the food to be well cooked and tasty. The owner is very friendly and is willing to make changes to suit personal taste. He is passionate about the food. The cost is very reasonable. I've never had any cause to make any complaint in all that time
