A really great venue upstairs for our private 60th birthday party. Thanks to all the staff.

Always warm and comfortable, usual Spoons food and drinks available and good service. Grat town centre location next to the castle grounds entrance and near the new cinema / theatre complex. The range of beers on tap is sometimes disappointing. For Spoons, with so many at their disposal it could be better. Not every pumpclip displayed is available, management policy. 10 Feb 2025 - Disappointed, not a dark beer in the house, pump can or bottle!

Good if you fancy 40 year old blokes

We arrived at our table at 2.30, we could clearly see they were busy but we didn't receive our starter till 3.45!! That's unacceptable and what made it worse was the waitress kept saying for 35-40 mins it's on its way or it's next out. Why loe just say we're having problems and it will be a while. Also 2 of our party had the hunters chicken which quite frankly looked like it had been say there all day, the sauce had dried up and then they both had an upset tummy all night!!! NOT GOOD ALL ROUND and Definitely will not be going back!!

Freezing cold. No fires lit. All cask ale was off, and this was a weekend! I notice it is up to let so maybe they are running it down. We won’t be back.
