We were invited to the restaurant. the menu looked good with steaks and sea food choices. We had steak Frite and scallops. The steak looked good but the meat had no taste. The fries were good. Scallops were over done. Service was friendly and efficient. One advice to the restaurant when you personally recommend a dish and are then told that it does not taste good it would be a good idea to offer a substitution rather than just ignore it.

4 of us had a great steak meal here on a busy Saturday - booked the window table a week ahead. 2 of us shared the 900g porterhouse steak for £75 and it was very nice and cooked to medium rare as asked for. I had the posh looking and nice tasting beetroot starter (see picture). Tried the smoke popping cocktail beforehand on The Bit on the Side in their adjoining bar - great fun if you ask for them to wow you, talented barstaff! Don't think it was on the menu. All in all, a good restaurant for a group of people with varying food and drink tastes and nice to impress with next door for a relaxed drink beforehand.

Great friendly service and good vibe. Food was above average, plating was great (I was too hungry and forgot taking a photo). Cheesecake is a must!

We have no hesitation giving a 5* review for this amazing restaurant. Service, food and atmosphere were perfect. A great place to dine when in Torquay. Callum is an asset, and compliments to the chef on perfectly cooked steak . If we ever return to Torquay we will definitely be booking a table at Ollies again.😁x

OMG!!! This place is amazing!! We only stayed in Torquay for 2 nights and the food was so good we came back both nights!!! The steak is out of the world and Ollie’s chips, just WOW! Callum’s cocktails are fantastic! I was convinced to pair my expresso martini cheesecake with ‘The Italian’ and honestly the return visit is worth it just for that!! You get what you pay for, and the food, cocktails and company is worth every single penny!! We will be back!

Absolutely sensational. My partner and I visited here on Wednesday and are already planning another trip to Torquay to eat here again. I had the scallops which were cooked perfectly in a gorgeous sauce that I just wanted to drink. We shared the porterhouse - we couldn’t decide between rare or medium rare so the chef cooked it in between those. It was melt in your mouth delicious, gorgeous seasoning and the sides were fantastic. The peppercorn and ndjua butter were great but the steak was so beautiful we didn’t even use much of the sauce in the end. Such fantastic quality and quantity for the price. Highly recommend to anyone. The service was so friendly yet prompt. The time absolutely flew. Whoever is in charge of the music needs a high-five too; I was reliving my university indie dream. Thank you so much everyone who works here, definitely a memorable experience.

Unfortunately, not particularly good service - an hour wait for the food, really too long for the restaurant to not be fully booked. And no real apology - well, a glass of wine as compensation! Summary: food good, staff bad!

Expected better tasting dishes. It’s ok. At this price point expected better than ok. Had fish not the steak. Wine was more memorable than the food. Might try the steak next time.

Had a delicious roast dinner here on Sunday, couldn’t fault it! The beef was outstanding. Service and atmosphere also very good, highly recommend a visit.

Great restaurant with a perfectly cooked steak

So happy we chose to eat here. The food, service and atmosphere were amazing . We had the crispy beef to share then enjoyed the steak night deal. We highly recommend this venue.

Quite frankly the steak was tasteless. For a restaurant that prides itself of steak, it’s fish was much tastier. The atmosphere and service were unrivalled but the steak let this place down. If you do eat here, order a fish dish. Much more flavoursome and also cheaper!

10 out 10 for the food, drinks , hospitality and great value. 3 of us ate here on Easter Sunday where the food was very good with a very relaxed and chilled out atmosphere with great background music. Excellent hospitality and attention to detail we will 💯 return. Warm Regards.

The monkfish was absolutely delicious. Cooked to perfection and well seasoned. Overall really enjoyed ollys!

First visit last night. Got to say the experience was very, very good on all counts. You can count top restaurants in Torbay on one hand and this is one of them. To many it may perhaps seem a little expensive. It isn’t because you get what you pay for. Five of us dined, one a child and everything from start to finish was Michelin plate/ Bib Gourmand (whatever it’s called now) standard- service, drinks/ wine menu and most of all, the food. We had a mixture of starters including the ‘classic’ prawn cocktail, which was agreed as being very good in terms of the balance of the sauce in particular. Scallops were served in shells, again ‘classic’ style and were plentiful, very tender and the garlic butter base was perfect. Monkfish bites, pitted olives and sourdough all to the same standard. Main course chosen by both couples in the party was the Chateaubriand special, to share. This included two small glasses of house wine (good quality) and worked out at £30 each, including ‘chips’, which was very good value. Why? Well we had the meat medium rare, being nicely crusted and slightly blackened on the outside, the meat so tender inside and tasty. Great butcher, great cut, cooked to perfection. The chips were simply the best I’ve ever had. Fact. The only markdown was atmosphere- not the restaurants fault. Just the fact that there were only eleven diners in there- but it was a rainy Wednesday night in Torquay! Background music was good, Service was really good- the waitress was happy to engage out banter with a smiling face- that’s how the job is done. Top marks all around.

Everything first class .quality,service,value highly recommend

Ollie’s is a good restaurant if you are a meat eater. As a vegetarian it is a recurring disappointment. I had Sunday lunch here and for a pound MORE than the beef roast was served an overcooked slice of breaded cauliflower. Then one of the side dishes was cauliflower cheese! The accompanying vegetables were good. The service staff are also good, the right balance of attentive without being overbearing. This is the second time I’ve had a disappointing vegetarian meal here. I wish it wasn’t so as everyone else’s meat and fish dishes were good. I can only take away the message that vegetarians are not wanted here.

We actually meant to go to another restaurant. Having found it closed, we walked randomly into Ollie's and it turned out to be a happy surprise! One of my best food experiences. Who says you can't find good food in England...;)

Had a really good dinner here last night, would highly recommend. Staff were very friendly and informative, didn't feel at all rushed during the meal. Can highly recommend the korean fried chicken, rib eye (with a whopping portion of crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside steak chips) and pear with gorgonzola salad. Only very minor quibble is that the chips did not appear to be seasoned, but that was an easy solve!

We booked here for dinner before a show at the theatre. Lovely welcome, great food, nice table for two by the window and despite us being 10mins late for our booking, still got us out before the show started. Excellent!

Had the most amazing Sunday lunch here today. The food was just beautiful, plentiful and amazing quality. The staff are lovely. Attentive but not intrusive. Deserts..just wow. I would definitely say the best Sunday roast in the Bay....by a country mile.

Booked table of 7 for my sons 21st birthday and specifically requested balloons, when we arrived there was nothing and noone had contacted me beforehand to say otherwise so that was very disappointing to start with. Nibbles.....Monkfish bites were hard and overdone. Starters.....5/7 starters came out at the same time but waited a further 10 minutes for the remaining 2 to come out by which time some had finished or the food was cold through waiting. The meatball sliders were well over done and the cheese was left out....very disappointed. Main course.....2 sharing steaks were ordered one of which was well underdone for medium/rare, extortionate price at £75 for a cut of meat that can be purchased from the wholesalers for less than £20. We have been here before but probably won't go back as its over priced for the level of food and service and the menu doesn't seem to change much at all. The front of house staff were friendly so can't fault them. Bill was over £400 and we all came away feeling it was not at all worth it.....such a shame as it was a special occasion and feel we would have had a better evening either at home or elsewhere. Went home for birthday cake.

Fantastic lunch here. I had 2 courses from the set menu which was great value for money (I am vegetarian so the options were understandably limited for me, but delicious) and my partner had the fillet steak which he proclaimed to be the best steak he has ever had. Good drinks selection and friendly service. Worth the money.

Excellent food and good value for this level of quality, good service too.

This hard working couple are running this restaurant serving great food however the whole experience for us was completely ruined by an extremely rude and arrogant waiter. When we complained that the food took over one and a half hours to arrive he became angry. He actually never apologised but instead told us we were immature!? He said ‘you’re not from round here are you?’! He was so rude and insulting he really upset us. What a shame for the couple who ran the place. He needs serious training in customer and hospitality work. A simple sorry would have been sufficient!!!

Lovely restaurant food to die for friendly staff. A little bit expensive but you pay for what you get. Will certainly be back.

Dinner. A gem in Torquay. We've had our eye on this restaurant since they opened. Finally got the chance to try it, and so glad we did. The menu has a great mix of fish and meat dishes. For Starters, we chose *Crispy monkfsh bites / black garlic mayo £6.95 *Very moorish and could have eaten a bucket full. Salt & pepper squid/ ponzu dipping sauce £9. Mains Monkfish over coals / romesco sauce / almonds chimichurri/ fennel & orange salad £25. *As good as any fish restaurant. Dry-Aged Grass Fed Beef Sirloin £29.95 Served with OLLIE'S chips & pepper corn sauce. A side of Barbecue cabbage/ 'nduja butter £6. Desserts Churros with chocolate sauce Affogato with disaronno. The food and service were exceptional. This is a true all-rounder of a restaurant and very good at what they do.

Amazing service with amazing food

Have just come back from lunch with my Mum and best friend at Ollie's. Its such a hot hot day didn't feel like going anywhere. So glad we did. I cannot fault Ollie's in anyway whatsoever. The food is superb, very delicious and very well presented. The front of house boys today were so accommodating and friendly (as all the staff always are) nothing was to much trouble they were happy to put us at a different table then the reserved one which was wonderful as it was so cool. Its such a refreshing change to eat out in Torquay where you are welcomed and made to feel important and treated top class. Would thoroughly recommend Ollie's for a really wonderful dining treat.

I don’t normally do reviews because I expect a level of service when I attend a restaurant, and when they deliver what I expect I’m grateful but satisfied. In this case I found Ollie’s to be exceptional! So I guess it’s worth writing about now… and worth sharing! I’m well travelled… lucky I guess… this beats all the stake places I’ve been in Vegas, and is the same quality as the Four Seasons in Whistler… and is better than Wine & Co in both Melbourne and Sydney… the stake was exactly as ordered… perfectly cut and hot when presented… chips were to die for and the peppercorn sauce was spot on… the hosts were delightful, the service was prompt and quicker than expected… what more could you want? Perfect…

The food is simply glorious. I’ve never tasted steaks so perfectly cooked. Have been here so many times now and have never been disappointed. The quality of the food is consistently top drawer, as is the service. The staff are always cheerful and helpful, and the ambiance is really lovely. lol

Two of us visited for a birthday meal last night, had portuguese red wine, the sharing steak option 900gr Porterhouse, that came with vegetables and fries. Good portions. Followed by chocolate truffles. They looked a bit odd but they tasted great.

We ate here for my husband's birthday. It was our first visit and came highly recommended. In short, we will be back! The food was simple but beautifully cooked. We shared a Tomahawk steak that came with the house chips, (delicious, cross bred chip / roast potatoes), and fresh buttered veg. We asked for medium rare and that is exactly what we got. The service was second to none and the staff couldn't have done more. We were served by Tess and a young chap, (sorry we didn't get your name), who were extremely knowledgeable and engaging and made our already special visit, even better. In a day and age where customer service is generally in decline, this place feels like the good old times and we cannot recommend it enough. Thank you all!

What a pleasant surprise. We opted for the Wednesday deal which sounded good value and certainly was. Perhaps not as 'buzzy' as you would expect but service and food were excellent with an additional highlight of Ollie's side of chips which are amazing. Shame we couldn't stay for the Thursday steak night too - sounds super value!

What a lovely experience! My hubby and I booked for the steak night but we ended up having 3 courses. Every course was just excellent and even though I'm a huge steak fan my favourite dish was the lobster bisque. Service was also outstanding (thank you Rosie and Callum) and a big shout-out to the kitchen staff and everyone else there that made this a perfect evening. We will be back!

Nice quality food, ordered my steak very rare, it came medium rare. Worked out quite expensive £99.90 for 2 steaks a bottle of wine and 2 pints of lager. Music was for much younger age than the majority of the customers. Could do better.

The fish was delicious. Sauce was a bit garlicky but the fish was cooked nice.

Tonight was a first visit to Ollie’s and I can’t wait to come back for a second. We visit Torbay a lot and especially love to visit torquay for food, I’m rather particular on finding quiet, Friendly and more of a finer dining experience style restaurant and This was exactly that !! The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed and the service was amazing. We’d like to say a special thanks to Callum who looked after us whilst there, his knowledge on the menu and wines especially was brilliant (being a wine drinker myself) it’s nice to have some recommendations. We had scallops, crispy beef, sirloin steak and a chicken dish. All were perfectly cooked, fresh, tasty and presented beautifully. Thank you again for a lovely meal on our last night here. We will be back !!

Overrated - not a good experience and won't be back. Waitress disinterested ......asked for white wine were told there was little choice left. Prices were high and quite frankly it's not worth it. Terrible under cooked pork chop verry fatty. Poor customer service, attention to detail bad - dirty mirror above the bar, basic toilet facilities. If you are charging these prices in a competitive bay - these things need to be addressed. Coffee ordered - Irish - couldn't taste whiskey sent it back. The guy who made it scowled at us. Won't go back - sorry but there are some amazing places in Torbay much more reasonable. We did not feel valued as customers. Was also very noisy so if you're after quiet relaxed ambience forget it. We have former experience in hospitality cannot recommend this place. Unfortunately had booked it for a special occasion but did not feel special. They had even run out of bread, though offered focaccia. Some tables were cramped. Location has no views - not their fault but again prices too high. Definitely spoilt husband's birthday celebration. Since writing this review the owner has been in touch, to explain difficulty with supplier's re bread and wine. Also to apologise which we appreciate. Hopefully some things will be addressed, and we wish them well in the future.

Very pleasant lunch. Good food, quality service and nice atmosphere. We had £20.00 for 2 courses and what good value for quality food.

First visit here and it won't be the last. A genuinely lovely restaurant. Nice calm atmosphere, service was friendly and attentive. The meals were delicious. We ordered scallops and crispy beef, steak Diane and rump steak and sticky toffee pudding and baked alaska. The barman suggested the Baileys Martini which was amazing, so creamy and moreish. Wine was equally as tasty. Steaks were perfectly cooked with buttery vegetables and thick chips to accompany. Only two pointers were that I needed more Diane sauce and it would have been ideal to soak up the delicious scallop juices with some bread! (Both my own preferences).

It's not often I post Google reviews but it's less than a month since my last TripAdvisor review for this outstanding restaurant. A New Year's day lunch. All beautiful from the crew led by Lydia to the food and ambience. For a change, rather than a starter and main, we opted for a range of starters and nibbles. All absolutely divine. Wow wow wow, what a great place, the food was cooked to perfection, our waiting staff were fantastic, the gentleman behind the bar was a great laugh, always had a smile. Great work Ollie's you have a great team. I will be back to try another amazing steak soon.

Food nice but well over priced for what you get and watch for a service charge for 7 or more on a table gets very expensive and check your bill we did and got £60 pound over charge back

We had a fantastic meal in the "bit on the side" and were looked after splendidly by Louis - thank you! The food was amazing. I've been craving the crispy beef starter since, so amazing! Louis's cocktail making skills finished the evening off perfectly. Such a great place!

I cannot praise Ollie’s enough, the staff were superb and the food and drinks are amazing. Ollie’s served the best steak I have ever tasted; I do not drink red wine however, the wine we had was delicious. We shall definitely come again!

Food was amazing, had the steak, absolutely stuffed, no room for pud. The service was lovely, warm and friendly, we both have food intolerances, celiac and lactose, which were catered for, no probs. XX

Superb 2 course lunch with great choices

Incredible. First time eating out in Torquay, down from Kent. My wife has quite a few food allergies, Wheat, Oat, Onion, Egg, Dairy and Ollies were extremely welcoming and accommodating, especially front of House who is Ollie’s sister. Ollie did an amazing wheat free/dairy free pepper sauce, the fryers had become ‘gluteny’ during the day so they did roast potatoes instead. We shared the Chateaubriand steak, it was perfectly cooked and incredibly tasty, my chips were out of this world, big and chunky, and the Veg was brilliantly cooked carrots and cabbage etc. Overall as a first experience of Torquay, the food, catered service, atmosphere were incredible! Definitely going back next time we come to Torquay.

First time eating at Ollies and me and my partner were pleasantly surprised. Highly recommend the salmon for a starter and the Cornish olives for nibbles. The beef is very high quality and locally sourced and also of a very reasonable price. Portions are a good size also. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the menus and wines. The negatives for us were the size of the tables for 2 persons. If you’re ordering sides or a couple of staters and drinks, it gets a bit cramped. The desserts we had (lemon meringue and baked Alaska) were incredibly sweet, sickly sweet almost and hard to enjoy as a result. The mens toilets were pretty disgraceful and hadn’t been cleaned in a while. Overall though, I’d recommend visiting this place and more than likely I’ll go back again for another meal.

Lovely place for a drink. Came here on a evening where we wasn’t sure what to eat. Came in and what a brilliant atmosphere, lovely, warm and welcoming. The staff uniforms stand out a country mile and look so good. We was lucky to be given a table and got to ordering as soon as we sat down. I went for half shell roasted scallops and my partner had prawn cocktail. The scallops I felt weren’t the best, but all I could hear was crunching as I ate which felt like sand. After we had rump stead with chips. We asked for medium rare but found out steaks were more rare than anything, left chewy. The peppercorn sauce was lovely but sadly we got wedges more than chips, something I really don’t enjoy. All in all, it’s a lovely restaurant, but there is a lot of competition in the area and I know I wouldn’t go back again to this restaurant just due to the steak not being cooked right. (I didn’t complain about anything but when the waiter asked I did feed this back to him)

Spectacular in every way. My wife and my 4 year old son arrived without a reservation at 8:25 pm but were told to return at 9pm. They sat us at the window and attended to our every need by explaining the specials and recommending wines with our mains. The food was delicious, the atmosphere relaxed and they even brought my lad vanilla ice cream after we had settled the bill. Highly recommend this gem.

We ordered a sharing steak and it was delicious. The meat was tender with a great deal of flavour and came cooked to our liking.

No impressed which was disappointing due to the fantastic reviews. Felt staff were judgy and took a long time for them to come over. Almost got the impression that staff favoured some customers over others. Food was nice but massively overpriced. I feel like this place wants to present as fine dinning, but doesn't have the experience or the space. Wouldn't recommend or go again

Very popular fine dining restaurant in the heart of Torquay. The staff were very friendly and service was fast and thorough. We ordered the shared tomahawk steak which was quite reasonably priced given it includes two side dishes. Unfortunately the cook on the steak was poor (blue-rare rather than medium-rare) which did sour the experience a bit, however would be happy to give Ollie’s another go if in the area
