Olde Red Lion, Market Bosworth in Hinckley and Bosworth

Took family here for an evening meal and drinks. Food was excellent as was the staff and atmosphere.Nearly forgot to book my car in as car park has parking eye, fortunately Jo behind the bar reminded me. Many thanks to all staff for a lovely meal and relaxed time and meal with the family.

Lovely pub that cooks wonderful home made meals staff are so friendly especially josie behind the bar who served us quickly and generally was a very friendly and welcoming.

Food was okay,but refused to accept our money- as it was Scottish - which is legal tender. They told us that it was a Marston brewery policy. Shocking! So, we will avoid Marston Vrewery establishments ,which funnily enough trade in Scotland too!

Cory and Cole today have been exceptional bar staff the conversations and service was excellent and they made the red lion a great atmosphere to be at. Thank you will see you again soon 😁

Just about the best - and biggest - full English we've ever had including at establishments many times the price. The chef is just one of a great team at Ye Olde Red Lion which I can recommend to anyone who likes a proper traditional and unpretentious pub.

Very friendly, good Directors pint and rhubarb crumble was excellent. Food good and service was excellent. Relaxing and very wrlcoming, dogs allowed. Would recommend a visit as we went as stop on walk in area.

Our first overnight stay was better than I could have hoped for: the room was spotless, very well equipped, the four-poster bed and firm-but-very comfortable mattress was perfect; I had one of the best night's sleep for months. The walk-in shower was one of the wettest I have known in England (I remember the days when one normally had to run around in a shower to get wet!) and breakfast was fine, if unpretentious; the soft poached eggs were perfect. Our next booking is already recorded.

Food was of poor quality, staff did not know how to work out the bill, carpets covered in food and a child was going in and out of the kitchen, not great for hygiene. This pub used to be so good with lovely food, now even the locals are moaning. We will not return.

the red lion is the perfect spot for families and couples, super cozy and relaxed. staff are welcoming and the food is lovely. we always feel very at home here, cannot recommend more highly. also dog friendly so perfect for lunch after a walk at the country park.

Popped in here for a few afternoon drinks. Very quiet when we visited. Staff were very pleasant and friendly.

The food was ok . I do not like parsnips or sweet corn. But was told all cooked together.so did not have any vegetables at all .the tables are right next to each other we are talking inches apart .The place was warm as it was winter. But the toilet had No hot water .only one tape .I let the water run for a few minutes but still cold. When the food arrived see photo.i asked where was the rest of it. Was told that I did not ask for vegetables. They did bring out some more potatoes after I had complained . But was not happy I had to ask. The price for two Sunday lunch one cider and a diet coke Was £40.20 this was about the twelfth time we have been. In the last 5 years . We used to celebrate our birthdays there when staying local.on a number of times have booked a table for over 9 people.sorry to stay do not think we will be back again. Really need to sort out the presentation could have been much better.my wife's dinner was ok 4 out of 5.

We stopped in for lunch. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. We had the steak and onion wrap and the brie and cranberry wrap. They were absolutely delicious and hit the spot. However the very best thing were the home made chips. We could honestly say they were the best chips we've had for years. Lovely and crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. Yum. We'll be back soon. Welcoming, old fashioned pub with good atmosphere and nice beers on tap. 2 min walk from Bosworth Hall hotel if you're staying there- well worth a visit

How do you make lasagne without sheets of pasta . Strangest lasagne I have ever tasted and it was loaded with garlic . Looked like a ladle of bolognaise mince with cheese over the top to hold it together .

Was not very impressed with the meals here,it was very overpriced for what you get,I had cottage pie with seasonal vegetables at 11.95 I got a small dish of cottage pie plus what looked like one small carrot and a small gravy,I would have thought for that price there would have been a few peas or a bit of Brocoli.2 friends had the Cod and chips,there was about 6 chips on each plate again 11.95,Other friend had to have Scampi has they had ran out of fish at 6.30 on a Saturday night.Wont be returning.

Had an evening meal there whilst staying at Bosworth Hall, wished we'd booked a room here! Service was relaxed but friendly, food was good and decent portions, beer also good.

The only thing I can fault is the bar staff chatting away between themselves instead of being attentive to customers. We had to collect our own cutlery and condiments from the bar. Maybe we should have sat at the tables already set in the dining area but we like the pub atmosphere. Food good and reasonably priced.

We visited the Red Lion while doing a walk from Sutton Wharf. On walking in, it reminded me of a pub I might have been taken into as a kid in the 1990s, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I ordered a very good pint of Wainwright's, and took a menu to the beer garden: a real sun trap!! The menu has a lot of choice, but mainly pub classics. I went for the ham, egg and chips...and it was exactly what I hoped for, and more! The ham was top quality...but the chips - amazing! Proper home made fried chips, some of the best I've ever had. Always good when you do a new walk, and you come across a gem like this!

We had a walk into Market Bosworth from our dingy hotel and found this delightful pub. Welcoming staff, good food and good beer. It was just a great atmosphere. So good we did it twice !!!!

My husband and I had booked a weekend away in Market Bosworth and had this pub recommended by a local, it was lovely food and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating.

Amazing steak - the tastiest I've ever eaten - proper sirloin cut, extra tender and caramelised on the outside, cooked to perfection. Absolutely wonderful pub; full of character, attentive and friendly staff, good ales, well priced .... A MUST if you're visiting the village. I will definitely be returning on future travels. Busy and obviously popular town centre venue. First Saturday night after lockdown lifted so pleased to get a table reservation (staying at nearby Bosworth Hall). Very efficient service and covid measures. Great choices on menu, tasty food and all well presented. Really relaxed evening in a pleasant environment.

Myself and my wife had 4 meals at the red lion over the time we stopped at Market Bosworth. every one was good and service was great we look forward to going back again.The covid things they have put in place are good.

Wanting a drink and a rest in the middle of the afternoon, this pub offered us a lively atmosphere (with customers of wide range of ages) and a good choice of beers. Although we didn't eat there, the food choice looked good - if simple. The pub advertised a range of activities and the bar staff were friendly and informative.

Called in one night when we were staying in the nearby Bosworth Hall Hotel. Good selection of real ales which kept hubby happy and I enjoyed the wine. They have Sky sports so show the footie when its on.

We had the Vegetarian Lasagne and Vegetarian cottage pie from the lunchtime menu. Both were excellent and served really quickly. A lovely old building with helpful staff and food was served really quickly. we will definitely return.

I visited for Sunday lunch and requested a vegetarian roast, they suggested that they could do one, however the meal was just veg and potatoes without no substitute for the meat. I complained but was ignored and made to pay the full price.

Lovely quiet pub in the middle of the village, we had a lovely drink by the fire, very cosy. Beer was a bit expensive for real ale, but the staff very good and polite.

Looking for that good traditional pub which seems so hard to find these days - this is the place to go! Offering everything you would expect plus a whole array of extras. Excellent menu with all the old favourites plus new additions. Special event evenings and a great range of drinks - including for those not wishing to partake in the alchol. Family [and dog] friendly. A 'not to be missed' location if you are in Market Bosworth.

We were staying at Bosworth hall and had walked into the village, we came across this pub on the way back and decided to have a drink ... this is a old style pub with a lovely atmosphere, old pub styled seating. I had mulled wine which was possibly the best I have had ... but very very hot ! We spent a good hour here ... there was sports on tv if you wanted to watch but otherwise you can just people watch !

Plenty of nearby Country walks so after a modest 3 mile hike we were thirsty & peckish. In the middle of of the town centre you walk into low beamed welcoming atmosphere with laid out tables plus some not laid. Banks Bitter was served by a pleasant waitress who also catered for our light bite needs. There was a Main Menu but the Lunchtime Menu gave a wide choice sandwiches & hot choices (under a tenner) so we opted for that. 2 of us had lasagne 1 fish & chips & 1 ham & eggs. They are smallish portions but all were very tasty & easily enough to fill you until the evening. They came out in good time & a smile (so easy to do yet so often absent!).

I cannot comment on the food as we only visited for a couple of beers. They had a reasonable range of beers on but the beer we chose was not very well kept and very expensive.So we left after just the one.

Comfortable country pub in the beautiful town of Market Bosworth. Located on the Main Street close to centre the place has a welcoming atmosphere with traditional furnishings. There is a seated dining area to one side and less formal tables in the remainder where you can enjoy a dink and something to eat. Round the L-shaped bar there’s and elevated seating area where I enjoyed food whilst watching the midweek football. The menu is limited and the food reasonable for pub grub, served quickly by the friendly staff. All in all, worth a visit.

Staff were really friendly and approachable upon arrival and were very attentive towards gluten free requirements. We enjoyed oour main courses that much that we couldn't leave without finishing with a nice hearty dessert to send us on our way.

Very friendly staff fantastic service and awesome food. Just had one of the best steaks ever in this lovely British pub. Staying at the Boswell Hall Hotel round the corner by the walk to this pub was well worth it. Can’t fault it at all and clearly very popular with the locals oh and they do real ale as well. What’s no to like? Definitely recommended if you’re in the area.

I was staying at the hotel a couple of minutes walk away where there was a 90 wait for food, so gave this a go, wasn’t disappointed, friendly staff, tasty food which arrived quite quickly and there was a good atmosphere. Would recommend

We stay at Market Bosworth regularly and always ensure that we eat at the Olde red lion in the evening. It’s a lovely little pub with friendly staff and friendly locals; you don’t feel intimidated walking through the regulars because they’re all polite anyway. I ordered gammon with a fried egg last night, which was served with chips and peas; I couldn’t finish it at all because the portion was so generous! My husband had a big rump steak (I think it was 12 oz) and again, that was served with chips and peas, as well as mushroom and tomatoes, and he was really impressed. We didn’t manage dessert because we were so full, but once again, we had a lovely meal here, served with a smile, and will of course return when we are back in the area.

Just popped in for couple of pints before having dinner at the local hotel. Beer was good, good choice of ales, friendly enough just a bit expensive for a pub. We would pop back again though.

Decided to have lunch in Market Bosworth, and decided on Ye Olde Red Lion. We had a choice of lite lunch or the full menu, as well as a specials board, so a wide choice. We both had fish chips and peas, one from lite lunch and one from main menu. Both were lovely. Obviously bigger fish and more chips on main dish, but my wife was more than happy with the smaller option. Wide choice of beers and ciders(3). Very good prices compared to other venues and the staff were very friendly.

Four of us looking for somewhere to eat on an Monday evening in Market Bosworth, found that the Red Lion did food on a Monday so tried them out. Excellent experience. Pub busy. Food excellent quality and price, rump steak good butcher and well cooked. Service good from the moment we walked in - many thanks for a great experience

Whilst on a canal boat holiday, we decided to stop off for dinner , walked from the Canal to the Olde Red Lion, staff were very friendly, accommodating a party of 6 adults and 2 children almost immediately, varied menu, food was served quickly and very tasty, as well as reasonably priced, would highly recommend

Nice old pub in a great Leicestershire village Market Bosworth just a short drive from the Battlefield. Nice clean and comfortable rooms excellent breakfast and very friendly staff. Lots of parking.

At £10 a portion, this was a decent Sunday lunch. I had a smaller portion for £7 have to say it was a much smaller portion but enough as I wasn't very hungry. We chose beef, it was cooked to perfection. Roasties were good, carrots delicious and a nice surprise was some parsnips. Large yorkshire pud and gravy topped it off. Couldn't fault it. Drinks not expensive for the area either, around £4 a pint.

Popped a couple of evenings whilst staying at a local hotel. First night ripped off for half pint of Guinness! However, we returned and another barman on duty! Charged correct prices. Just be aware if you do call into this pub. Check price list at the bar first!

Called in this lovely old pub.whilst staying at the nearby hotel. Very friendly barmaid that served drinks with a smile and chat. Lots of character and charm, toilets clean and easily accessible. Would recommend to others when in this area.

Good bier, so so food, slow service even when not too busy. Is one of the few place in the village open every evening but no food on Sunday.

Pleasant friendly pub. Pet friendly also which for us is a bonus. Meal from the lite bites good but a little too light on some choices, which is around a fiver. Coffee lovely and well priced. Sunday lunch good with good portions and well priced. Pets not allowed in the restaurant but you can eat in the bar. Staff very friendly and polite. Will be going again that’s for sure.

We called in here friday night and it was busy with a good atmosphere . We called in and had a glass of house red wine which turned out to be Malbec and it was delicious. We went back later and had a gin and tonic the staff were friendly and we had a great time.

We visited on Monday evening with our golden retriever and were impressed by the bar and courtyard. The staff were very friendly and the food was great, large portion of vegetable lasagne for me and the gammon for hubby. On food, there is a specials board in addition to the menu you can see on the website. Wine was very drinkable and there was a large selection of gins, Stella, Carling and Guinness as well as lots of guest ales. Good selection of music playing and happy ambience. Large car park though easy stroll from Bosworth Hall if you're staying there. Would recommend!

Visiting people at the local Marina but stayed here overnight for bed and breakfast.

We dropped in for lunch, attracted by the courtyard so we could sit with our dog. It's definitely a courtyard not a garden. The food was fine, very spicy cajun chicken roll. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Went for lunch with friends. Nice atmospheric pub in the lovely village of market bosworth. Nice food and reasonably priced. Friendly staff made for a warm and welcoming experience. Free car park at rear.

A beautiful little pub full of character that does excellent home cooked food food. We booked as a party of six but two more people joined us. We had fish and chips, steak and kidney pie, mushroom stroganoff, chilli and rice and a mixed grill. Each meal was excellently presented and hot. We then indulged in a selection of yummy puddings. The food was reasonably priced and we had a very enjoyable time there.

Arrived about 13:30 Saturday 12/05/2018. For a drink and a snack for 4 of us. Ended up having Steak and Ale pie, for two of us. Lashings of meat and a dinky pie crust on top with Chips and peas (extra gravy for me). Absolutely MARVELOUS... The staff was on the top of their game and looked after us very well. Would have no hesitation coming here again.

Stayed in market bosworth on way back from Yorkshire. The staff and managment where so helpfull and really made us and our dog feel welcome. Had a lovely four poster bed in room. Which was cosy and quite.

Average pub, getting very close to needing decorating. Menu good but range of beers available is below average for today's pubs. We visited at a weekend and the atmosphere was very good.
