Old Town House in Warrington

I was about to write a review for the old town house and I was really surprised that it has such a low rating. it turns out that the bad ratings are six years old and the old town house has changed hands a couple of times since then. It's a great pub that is sometimes a music venue, quiz night or games night. The food is really great and the vegetarian options are brilliant.

Me and my girlfriend come here for the Vegan options (which are amazing), but giving 5 stars just the for the effort these guys put in. You can tell they care about the place and their customers, staff are mega friendly, always doing activities like quiz/board/video games nights, and have loads of live music! Definitely a place to check out, you'll definitely return!

Called in last night (23 march) to see builders in the place is been gutted and hopes to reopen shortly as a music venue! Could be interesting!

I can only re-iterate what scousersuk have said. We waited an hour for fish & chips & steak & chips. We had pre-booked & although there was only one other table of people in at the time we were told that they had run out of almost all of the meals on the menu. The place was dirty & the local drunk was making a nuisance of himself. I didn't dare venture into the toilets as the place looked as though it had not been cleaned for days. Don't know how the place passed food hygiene standards. Lastly I can reassure you that the voucher deals are not all like this as we have used many & this is the only one we have not been satisfied with. ( I don't work for voucher company by the way)

I bought a "deal" off living social for this pub, who offered a Sunday lunch for two people. Firstly the telephone number on the deal information was wrong, I eventually found the number and rang to make a booking, I was told just turn up. We took along some fiends, when we arrived (about1.30pm) we were told to find a table. We went to the bar to order drinks, after waiting about five minutes we eventually got served, The waitress behind the bar said that she would bring the wine we ordered. We sat down and waited for the wine, after 15 minutes I went to the bar to see where it was, the girl said she couldn't find wine glasses and would I have them in 2 half pint glasses, I said yes, but pointed out that there were glassses behind her(????) We ordered our meals at1.50.pm, 50 minutes later our starters came, they were passable, but we had seen one of the staff nipping out to the Asda store behind the pub, at least twice .After awhile the waitress(cook ) came out and told us she only had 3 lambs left and would somebody like beef.Our meals came at 3.40, and to say that they were awful, would be to praise them, they consisted of dried meat, rock hard yorkshire pudding , peas (they were ok, probably asda budget range), and what they called roast potatoes, again out of a packet , some overcooked, others not at all. A couple sitting nearby were asked because there was no beef left would they have chicken????. The pub itself was dirty, the bar was sticky to the touch, the carpets were dirty, but the worst was , the ladies in our party went to the toilets, and said that they were filthy, no soap or towels and the smell was fowl, which we got a whiff of everytime the door was opened. Had I not already paid for this I would have walked out without waiting for a meal and I certainly wouldn't have paid for it. IT REALLY WAS THE WORST DINING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. In conclusion I can only say BEWARE OF BUYING MEALS OFF SOCIAL SITES, because once the money has been paid, You have very little recourse. . I am trying to claim a refund, but with little success.BUT I WILL NEVER FALL FOR IT AGAIN..... On the rating system here you have to give it a mark, if it was possible I would leave the circles blank
