Old Station House Pub in Hounslow

This venue is currently covered in scaffolding and the building has been completely gutted. The current plan which has been approved by the local authority allows for the property to be developed into flats with the stipulation that the new development must have some form of bar/restaurant. There is currently no further information on when this development will be completed

I asked if they sold non-alcoholic wine, explaining my liver was not functioning properly. The service was appalling with the single waitress engrossed, in full sight, on her phone. We bought a bottle of wine and I added my own non-alcoholic wine so it was half and half. Suddenly, the Manageress appeared and started berating me. "Not in my restaurant" she quivered and told us to leave.

Website says it's open, Google says it's open, turn up and it's covered in scaffolding and in the process of a complete renovation. Travelled down from North London to visit, very disappointed. Doesn't take much to warn people.

It's closed even though it shows otherwise on Google.

Great food and atmosphere, and such a welcoming team!

The atmosphere in here is wonderful - it’s serene and elegant, with quite an old-fashioned vibe and nice background music. We love the fact it’s not over-decorated or flashy. The food is tasty and the house wine really quaffable, above what you’d expect at a standard pub! We’ve been back twice now for food and each time it’s been lovely. The staff are lovely too and provide a restaurant-standard service, always with a smile. Also, the sports TV is tucked away to the side so that those who want to watch can but it doesn’t take over the whole pub if that’s not your thing. Overall, a new favourite of ours!

Moved to Chiswick a couple of months back and this is my new local. Brilliant pub. The food is great the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Pub is a great size and always friendly bunch of people when I go in there

The new owners have really turned this place around. I've just had possibly the best Sunday roast in Chiswick. Ask for the landlady, Kat. Her hospitality is great. An update, today Jan 8 we went on another visit for Sunday lunch. Again the food was delicious and very good value in a relaxing and friendly atmosphere. There were different staff today, but all lovely and Kat was on hand as the charming host.

Came here for a family Sunday dinner and the food was lovely. The staff are really friendly and an overall great experience.

Great pub been few times since reopening and never disappointed always a friendly staff and the food have been delicious and great value for money great choices well above my expectations considering was there first night doing food everything went well and very smooth! Attended a party at the Old Station House over the weekend, the new management and staff have made huge improvements and this is a beautiful pub with a great atmosphere and team! Highly recommend!

This place had a hard time through Covid and suffers from not being as popular as the 3 pubs on the river at Strand on the Green, but it's nice enough and usually quiet

A couple of weeks ago we stopped by and spoke with the managers who were busy preparing for reopening. They filled us with enthusiasm. DISAPPOINTMENT! Visited last night to be met by drab interior and poorly trained and unenthusiastic bar staff. It would be nice to see this valuable local pub succeed,but it will fail unless something is done quickly!

One of the most atmospheric pubs I have been to, and we literally were just passing by on our way from the Chiswick station and looking for a loo. Very well designed, plenty of space and styles, with the 'old station house' being the dominant theme. I later found out that the place was closed for a long time before re-opening under a new management and kudos to the new management! Friendly staff, clean toilets. We watched the Premier League on the big screen but there is plenty of space to suit everyone's needs (an outside area, a quieter back area, the bar area). Great choice of draft beers, from Guinness to European to Beavertown. Check out the Mango-licious, if you get a chance, it blew our mind! We haven't tried the food but the beers and snacks are fantastic and moderately priced. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Friendly staff . Pub just reopened but just as scuzzy as before . In fact worse as sofas are gone and now looks like a 70’s youth club ; brown, brown , brown and uncomfortable. Even worse dreadful women’s loos are the same; really disappointing no money or even effort spent on it . Why bother ?

Strange atmosphere. Guys behind the bar seemed disinterested, not particularly friendly or helpful. Toilets were some of the worst I've seen in a pub in a long time. Scruffy and in need of a revamp. Shame as it's a great building in a nice village location.

0 stars! My 21 year old daughter was attacked by a staff member who refused to serve her for no reason. The guy with gray hair in his 50s came outside and dragged her out by her arm after asking him why she should leave as she hasn't done nothing. Absolutely disgusting behaviour this person should not be working in a customer service. Don't recommend this place staff are unprofessional and aggressive.

My friend and I were on a cycle ride 30 miles from home and it started pouring with rain. My friend had a puncture and as the Old Station House was closed due to Covid-19, we stopped outside to repair his tyre. The pub was in darkness and we sheltered from the torrential rain under the awning. A surly woman appeared and told us that we were on her property and we must leave. We explained that we were actually on the pavement, albeit under the pub shelter. She demanded that we fix the bike puncture in the rain - which we did. My friend and I were by now, soaked! I can only imagine the unfriendliness and the hostile environment if one actually entered the pub. Amusingly though, irony isn't lost on the staff of this pub, because outside is a sign that reads "Your Friendly Neighbourhood Local". The noun Karma anybody?

Quite a strange atmosphere and staff weren't particularly friendly. It's ok for a quick drink, but I won't be rushing back.

I have given this place the benefit of the doubt several times and always come away unwell with a very unpleasant taste in my mouth, if all the pubs in a 5 mile radius burnt down, I would make that extra walk over hot coals to avoid this so called pub. Now for the staffing, there has been one pleasant younger girl, but the couple that appear to be the owners are something else, god forbid you ever point out a minor irregularity in change given, wrong drink given or off beer, you are likely to get an irrational and aggressive response. Well the food, what can I say, think of the worst school dinner you ever had, then times it’s unpleasantness by ten and you may be somewhere close.

Ella se negó a abrir una pestaña. Llegué y fui al bar. Nadie a la vista. La misma mujer finalmente apareció. El mismo desinterés. La misma negativa a abrir una pestaña. "No hacemos eso". Absoluto sin sentido.Llegaron los entrantes y no estaban mal, pero nada especial. Luego llegaron los platos principales, pero no habíamos terminado el primer curso. Le pedí que lo llevara de vuelta a la cocina y que simplemente lo mantuviera caliente. Mi amigo casi había terminado y decidió quedarse con la comida. Hacía calor pero era comestible. Tenía un gusto.Cuando estuve listo fui a buscar a alguien ya que no había nadie en el piso. Nadie detrás de la barra. Probably my favourite bar in London... Great service, food is delicious and well worth the price, atmosphere is cosy and friendly. Would recommend for sure!

Took around twenty minutes to get two pints, we both ordered the burgers which didn’t have what they advertised in them... what they did have in them was quite a lot of hair. No apology from staff. Worst pub I’ve ever been to. Now I see why it was empty on a Saturday lunchtime.

Possibly the most eclectic open mic night in London. Will attend again.

Had never been here before but was meeting someone from the train and had time to kill. Grey-haired man behind the bar totally disinterested, actually had to be called over to serve by one of the customers. No smile, no communication. After about half an hour several families arrived, sat down for drinks and happily let their kids run riot, throwing food, toys, you name it around the pub. Could be a great pub, nice building but I presume it is being deliberately run down.

There's a reason this place is barely ever half full. The service is appalling and the drinks are overpriced and underwhelming. Last time I was there, I witnessed a gent at the bar politely enquiring as to why the rum and coke he had ordered was now £2.60 more expensive than the last one he'd bought. Turns out this bartender had decided to serve him a bottle of coke rather than a dash from the tap. The customer quite rightly pointed out that he hadn't asked for a bottle and neither had he even been asked what he'd prefer and instead of offering an apology and a refund for the coke which would have certainly been sufficient and put the issue to bed...the manageress started laying into him and accusing him of being threatening/a liar/a troublemaker etc. I was a bystander and I can tell you that was far from the truth. The customer was sober and polite and I was absolutely gobsmacked by what I witnessed. I wasn't the only one - others at the bar applauded him on calmly standing his ground whilst being subject to this bizarre tirade. I avoid this place at all costs because it simply has nothing going for it. I know it's Chiswick but the prices are beyond even those norms. The pints are flat/warm. The food is probably the best thing about it but even that is mediocre. It's a real shame. It's got a great location there by the NR station but folks, rather walk for 5 minutes and visit the City Barge at Strand on the Green - you'll thank me.

Changed hands recently and is now more than a money laundering front... it's a pub where the beer doesn't cost £6+ anymore and there's been live music recently. Happy days!

Great historical large comfortable neighbourhood pub that in the past has suffered from poor management. It isn’t on the river unlike the pubs on Strand on the Green but is convenient to Chiswick SW Trains Station. Food has always been good. Music sessions from time to time. It deserves support from local residents.

Staff giving misinformation about menu and being rude about it. I left straight away without ordering anything and will not return.

This pub is hopeless , fairly busy , no one at the bar , took a good 12 minutes to get served , then they couldn’t turn the TV on during the England match .

Very nice old English pub, with a variety of food to choose (we had a Burge, steak pie and green curry) and of course a choice of beer!

Oh Dear its not good. Terrible service very average food. The draught beer was not in good conditions, Management didn't seem to know or care.

He estado viniendo a este pub y por 35 años. Siempre ha sido un poco sombrío para todos los dueños anteriores. Pero ahora bajo una nueva administración es un soplo de aire fresco. Las personas que dirigen el pub (una familia, creo) realmente entienden la hospitalidad y saben cómo cocinar comida fresca decente. Un gran cambio. Solo entré aquí porque perdí un tren. Pero definitivamente volveré.

EDITED: Very hit and miss. Went in one day and the food and service was top notch. 2 days later, ordered the same thing and got a totally different experience. The young lad behind the bar didnt look happy to be working there and couldnt even be bothered to open his mouth when I asked if he could take something off our order. Dog friendly with dog treats by the bar. This pub has potential to be the place to be but let's it self down with challenging bar staff and odd mix of decor.

Menu has changed with the new owners. It wasn't great. Deep fried frozen food. It's a nice place for a quick drink after work unless a match is on. Then they turn the volume up so loud you can't hear anyone talk. We left.

This is a great pub that is serving a good quality beer, wine, and more Very tasty food, nice and friendly staff.Come over and see. Well recommended.

This pub was always a very popular place to hang out for musos businessmen/women etc. It suffered from a really nasty run of bad owners ...I am really pleased to see it back on track gradually regaining its former glory.lovely family management occasional live music good food good freindly service...I noticed a couple of bad reviews from peeps who were chucked out...oh well..

Absolutely rude staff, management and service. Never have seen such disgusting and rude waitresses. Not recommend this place.

We visited as we do when we visit my mothers grave . This pub used to have great food and service . My sister found a hair on her food . They took it back and had to wait a further 30 minutes . When we asked to cancel as the rest of the party had finished the manager said ‘you’re not getting a refund ‘she was very rude and aragant. . Won’t go here again and advise you not to if you want to eat . Rating zero

Friendly atmosphere in a nice building. Menu has changed since I last visited, so our old favourites didn't appear.......we were disappointed so didn't eat there for that reason. Give it a try if you're in the area, and then I can see what you thought of the food!!

Service very very slow. We waited nearly an hour in a reasonably quiet time of day before being served sporadiclly with below average food. Pitta bread so over grilled it was almost black. Additional veg comprised very undercooked carrots and overcooked broccoli. Whole experience under par and dull.

Went with friends who all enjoyed their food, including the vegiterian among us. The service was good and friendly. The roasts are excellent value especially the chicken roast, which was nice and tender and plenty of it.

Awful place please avoid. Very bad and very rood customer and management service. Never seen like this service in 13 years living in London.

Is it possible to rate a 0 out 5? It wasn’t until we were served flat beer & cold chips with packet sauce where we realised we made a terrible mistake. Not only were we appalled by the first round of service, taking the terribly flat beer up for an exchange proved even more so. On the up note, multiple parking spaces and loads of empty tables no wonder hehe xo
