Old Shutter Cafe & Bistro in Enfield

Service was great, food was great, the manager was lovely! Food came quickly and we were well looked after :) the homemade cheesecakes are DIVINE!

We were greeted and seated immediately. The ladies were really helpful and the owner was great. We had to return to work after an hour and requested our meals come as quick as possible which they did. The food was delicious and dessert was great too! Good price, lovely interior. Can’t wait to go back!

A nice quiet local place to eat. Food was amazing, good portions, variety and service was outstanding! Definitely will visit again.

I visited with family last week and the service was AMAZING. The staff were so friendly and accommodating with a good sense of humour. I am also gluten free so it was lovely to have some options for myself, and I also treated myself to one of their gluten free cakes. We had a variety of meals, all of which were 5*. Highly recommend.

First time in there this morning, staff seem to ignore you until you wave them down. Fresh Juices are nice... That's about it. Full English was pretty much all cold, tomatoes weren't grilled, it all Looked good on the plate, but it's like it had been sat there for an hour before they served it to me. Wife had the Turkish breakfast, all quite nice except the cucumber, you can tell its pre sliced and sat out getting dry. We complained and they said no it's freshly sliced, so they brought out more, same dry cucumber again. As I said the food looks good, but it's not worth the money they charge. 11 quid for a cold fill English. Steer clear, won't be returning.

Service is terrible. After awaiting outside for half an hour under a super windy weather, a table was available. Another customer had a table at front door who requested to change new table more inside. However, the staff didn’t check with me if I would like to take their table next to the door or inside one, also ignored my request to take inner seat. The staff was facing back to me, she already arranged the customer to change their table, and said here is your seat. I felt VERY DISRESPECTFUL AND EXTREMELY RUDE SERVICE indeed. No matter how good their food is, service and respectfulness to customers is always the most importance to everything for a restaurant!

Seated and given menus but took a while to place order, it was quite busy. Food was decent but nothing i had not had before and a little pricey. Probably would visit again if in area.

Had a lovely light lunch in the Old Shutter - completely unplanned as this was our first visit to Enfield. The food was tasty and good sized portions. Smashed avocado was a delight while the Parma ham ciabatta sandwich also pleased. Service was excellent and the ambiance very pleasant. Would thoroughly recommend.

I can’t believe I’ve missed this little gem, we visited for lunch recently with friends and teenage kids, we were seared quickly by the lovely staff. We had a selection of wraps (served with fries) which were all delicious. A great cup of coffee, which isn’t always easy to find! In terms of price it’s more in the ‘visit for a treat’ range but portion sizes are good so we’ll worth it. Lovely decor, ww weren’t rushed at all, had a lovely brownie to round it off, next time we’ll be trying the delicious looking pancakes.

I travelled from Cambridge to dine at this real hidden gem in Enfield town. Greeted with a friendly smile by the ever-helpful rachael who was never short of attention and quality of service. The food itself was cooked to a high standard of taste and presentation. Could not recommend enough and I will be returning again in the near future. For an altogether pleasant brunch, choose this establishment over all others in the area.

Atmosphere is always nice and calm, staff always trying to appeal to the customer in nice way and energetic than other place. Food is top grade with a great selection of meals for different times of the day like Breakfast,Brunch,Lunch Etc...

Mostly get takeaway due to not having time to sit in as I’m always busy working but even so friendly staff and good atmosphere .....the staff are very welcoming and the food is always good !! I highly recommend the eggs Benedict 10/10

I have visited a few times - the lady that works there is so rude and arrogant. Its enough to put me off ever attending again. She’s half arsed and flounced about not even bothering to take an order and calling you “darling” - embarassing. The prices are high and it’s not worth it. Overpriced poncey and patronising is how I would sum the place up - avoid there are much better places in Enfield that don’t condescend clientele!!

Came here a few weeks ago with a friend for brunch and was amazed by both the friendliness of the staff and how tasty the food was! Would 100% recommend and I will definitely be returning!

Was shocked how rude the woman was. I won’t be returning. If I wasn’t in company I would have got up and left. Very overpriced too for Enfield Town.

Went here for the first time on a Saturday morning for breakfast. Had the full English which was amazing. Then also had tea & cake which was also lovely. Got very busy too, so obviously very popular & will defo be going again soon. Staff friendly & very efficient.

I was extremely disheartened when this cafe refused my my Guide Dog in training, and would not allow us in for a coffee.I showed my Guide Dogs for the Blind volunteer ID badge but they still refused to let us in as 'Dogs aren't allowed', despite me explaining she is not a pet, she's a working dog (and was wearing her blue Guide Dogs jacket).This is the first place i have ever been refused entry with a Guide Dog. It was extremely disheartening, and this policy should be reviewed. How else can blind people live a normal life if they are refused entry into public spaces. Im outraged.

I usually go once a weekend when I can. The breakfast from Turkish, to Veggie to Traditional is always so tasty & the added bonus of being able to get a fresh orange juice (when the machine works) is great also

I have dined in the old shutter a fair bit since it’s opened, it’s a secret gem, the deco is amazing and the food is always amazing too! Such a variety on the menu!

I used to love this cosy little place as food was great with a wide selection of breakfast/brunch/lunch options and was reasonably priced. It seems that they changed the menu & put the prices up! Not sure if it’s such good value for what they serve now :-(

I cannot speak highly enough of the Old Shutter. I have visited countless times and taken many friends to experience just how great it is. Every single time the service has been nothing but welcoming, polite and friendly. The food is exceptional. Fresh homemade food every time. I have sampled many dishes off the menu and have always been so happy with my choice. It so nice to finally have a spot in Enfield that produces fresh high quality food. I cannot find fault at all with this place. The two negative reviews encouraged me to write this review as they are nothing but lies. Everyone should support this fantastic independent small business.

What a fabulous hidden gem on my doorstep! I was looking for a place to eat for my daughters 30th birthday brunch and found the Old Shutter on TripAdvisor. The reviews are great, so I rang to book a table. No problem to book. Promising start. It’s so friendly and clean. Quirky decor and just the right size to be a delight. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I had the old shutter and tea, and it was extremely good. My daughter had the full English and a Mimosa! I didn’t know alcohol was available so that was a nice surprise. I will definitely be visiting again soon.

I found out about this place when I was hungover and wanted a cooked breakfast delivered. The food was so good even when delivered that I continued ordering and decided to visit.

Came here with friends for a quick catch up and loved it. Love the interior and menu selection was varied. Looking forward to returning

I love good food. (I run a cook school) And Enfield has been horribly deprived of good places to eat breakfast until now. (The Art Cafe has a great ambience, food is OK) At last, we now have somewhere that serves a great breakfast. These people have taste. Everything is of high quality, from the tea to the bread. The dishes are imaginative without alienating people, and the cooking is excellent. The space itself is a nice place to relax, and the staff are friendly. If you live in or near Enfield, get in here and eat. We need great places like this to flourish!

I have had quite a few breakfasts in my time but this is definitely in the top 2. It was so good that my wife almost finished all hers and that is unusual in the extreme. Well done to the creators of this fabulous cafe/bistro next time we are in the area we will be back

Had brunch at Old Shutter and the helpful staff were very happy to accommodate my long list of allergies. Food was great and I've been back for more brunches and a lunch, each time the staff have been very happy to help. Thank you so much for making me feel welcome and not a pain. It's so nice to find cafes and restaurants you can eat at with family and friends.

I went for lunch with friends today as we really love this place. The menu is excellent and very tasty, good sized portions really tasty coffee and a wide choice of drinks. The staff are very attentive without being over intrusive.

Came here with my parents and wow we didn't expect the food to be sizeable portions but it was great! Everything seemed fresh and the tea was nice too. Friendly service as well.

So someone recommended this place and we decided to have a late breakfast. Interior design is well thought gives a very warm atmosphere. Greeted by very friendly staff. "But" first impressions starting deteriorating slowly when I picked up the menu, although plenty to choose from, the pricing looks a bit over priced. Turkish style breakfast was all in one plate several spreads, fried egg served in copper pan so presentation was good with several slight slices of bread. Here is the "but" one person Turkish style breakfast costs similar at various places, however this breakfast should've been offered with tea. I don't want to go into one how much teabags cost and all that, but if some of you didn't know almost all Turkish breakfasts offered comes with unlimited cups of Turkish style tea yes in those small slim waist glasses. Observed other people's plates and noticed a typical English style breakfast is definitely the same as one would get from a greasy spoon worker's caffe minus the ingredients, yes smaller amounts of the exact things except pricier. My food was the cheapest tostie in the menu yes decent size but same style tostie costs less in heart of Knightsbridge. So overall nice atmosphere to visit for a quite coffee alone or as a couple expect to pay Central London prices in middle of Enfield. Ideally 3.5

We popped in on Saturday as we were passing by and tricked in by this cafe's cute design. We wanted to just have a cuppa coffee and a dessert. It was not busy at all and yet the coffee arrived so late it was cold when we asked the waiter to change or heat it up, she was not happy and it took her 10mins to bring the cofffees back!! Then we still waited and also ordered pancakes which was not worth the money at all! You're better of going to Creams down the road...

We popped in for Saturday breakfast. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the space is warm and comfortable. Great music, relaxing and not too loud. A lovely choice of dishes for breakfast/brunch. Our food was delicious and reasonably priced. Highly recommended and exactly what Enfield needs. They are open for lunch and are licensed.

I have a serious allergy so have to know really know what’s in my food - mentioned it to the waitress serving us- bear in mind I wasn’t ordering anything particularly difficult (a salad) - I asked if she could check the dressing and marinade to be sure and was told that because it was made off site, there was no way to be sure- so I asked her if anyone could just ask the kitchen to look at the ingredients list and was told that all the staff were way to busy and I’d have to order something else. When I asked what I could eat- she said she couldn’t be certain on any of the food- and I could make up my own meal with side dishes- which coincidentally she wasn’t sure about either.

We had a lovely Sunday brunch at the Old Shutter. The place was busy but we were found a table straightaway. The food was lovely and pretty good value. Highly recommended

Whist on maternity leave my daughter managed to visit and eat in most of the cafes in and around Enfield. In her opinion this was the best for food (she doesn't drink coffee). We then visited it on her recommendation and have since been regulars. My husband more so than me. He loves the poached eggs on sourdough with avocado - and of course, the (homemade) cakes and pastries! I had the buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup and fresh fruit last week and it was delicious. I am very fussy about coffee and don't drink much but I really enjoy the espresso here. The staff are friendly, welcoming and very efficient. It's a lovely place to go on your own or to meet friends. Highly recommended!

A warm welcome is met when entering the Old Shutter! Staff are very friendly and helpful. Great selection of food for meat eaters and vegetarians. Love the breakfasts here. What's great is that they taste amazing but are not greasy or fatty. Would be great if they had some gluten free options. Decors lovely and has a vintage feel to it! Would highly recommend this place!!!

The cafe we normally use in Enfield was closed so we wandered round into Silver Street and found this delight. Very good clean and the ambiance was good. The service was great. We will certainly go there again.

Been to this cafe 4 times now and have enjoyed it everytime. The food is delicious with generous portions and staff are friendly and attentive. The decor has been really thought out to match the theme and the cafe has a cosy atmosphere.

My wife let me visit the Old Shutter as a reward for good behaviour on a Christmas shopping trip in Enfield.

Fantasic Brunch menu. One of the best in Enfield, especiallly the Eggs Benedict/Royale. I also enjoyed the French Toast on another visit, and my partner the Full English. Staff are friendly, welcoming and accommodating.

Lovely cosy place and food is great with a wide selection of breakfast/brunch/lunch options. It would be even better if the meat/chicken was halal but there are plenty of veggi options to choose from.

Had a really tasty lunch at this relatively new cafe. Great decor/atmosphere and prices not too bad either. The menu is also quite good if you're vegetarian as there are a lot of meat free dishes.

Poped in for lunch with a friend to this fairly new cafe in town around mid day it was already very busy we managed to get a table we were greated fairly well we made our order of pots of tea and wraps with chips both were delicious and well presented I would say it’s a little bit more experience then other cafes in the area yes I would go again most of the staff seem friendly and pleasant a few could be a little more pleasant with a smile

Lovely interior great food costs a little more but worth the extra had a healthier veggie breakfast everything cooked well good ingredients, very busy which is a good sign and service was high standard

A great new cafe to have in Enfield. Nicely decorated inside with lovely fresh food, coffee and cakes. The staff and really friendly and accommodating too.

Really enjoyed my time at the place, the cosy ambiance does make you feel welcoming. The menu offers unique options from selective rich coffee and tea, the freshly prepared food can be a reason to come back here with friends and family. I recommend everyone to not leave this place without trying their home made deserts!

Well above then avarege Cafe shop, all fresh ingredients with mouthwatering selections. Very friendly and fast service who made us feel like home. Absolutely gorgeous interior too.

Our first visit here - an unplanned one as we just popped in whilst in Enfield Town. We had not heard of this place but were immediately pleased by the nice decor, the warm welcome and the friendly, efficient service. The food and drinks were all excellent and quite reasonable value. My only slight suggestion would be that they find a way to knock out the coffee grounds on something a little softer, as we were near the counter and the frequent very loud banging, though bearable, was rather annoying to those sitting close by and I don't think they realised this. Should also make the choice of breads clearer when ordering. Overall, though, it is so much better than the Art Cafe with its lazy and incompetent staff so we will probably make this a regular port of call in the future.
