Old Queen Street Cafe in City of London, Westminster

Called in for a coffee. I had a flat white, my wife a latte daughter the peanut butter smoothie. The coffees whilst they tasted ok were lukewarm both I and my wife like a hot coffee. Also I have had larger espresso? Cups seemed a little small? Perhaps as it’s not a specialist coffee house? (Which I try to avoid, soulless) The peanut butter smoothie was really good I have been informed. Service was good although a check back would have resolved the coffee issue. I would return and possibly ask for a hotter drink? Setting was good. Place was spotless Dual use toilets is never great, in my experience women don’t want to share a toilet with men. But it seems the way places are going? Possibly eat here next time as the bfast looked good but we had eaten prior. Overall good, lost a point for the coffee temp.

Food was OK. Staff reasonable. Service not worth 12.5% . Food not worth what was charged. Toilets were an absolute disgrace. We always think if that's the bit they let you see then whats the kitchen like? Advised staff member of toilet situation. Took comments on board reluctantly in my view. Still charged 12.5% discretionary service charge which, bring british, I just paid. Won't go back there and wouldn't recommend

We visited the restaurant a month or so ago after a morning cycle into London and had a fabulous breakfast of Eggs Florentine. We returned for Mother’s Day brunch with our youngest daughter. My coffee was lovely, the Full OQS Veggie breakfast was quite dry, not very filling and one of the poached eggs was accompanied by its eggshell. My husband’s Eggs Benedict was tasty but not hot. My daughter loved her Bakewell Brioche and Berry smoothie. I left a bit disappointed, compared to my first visit and not feeling comfortably full.

An absolute hidden gem just around the corner from Westminster Abbey and right next to St. James Patk. Decided to stop here for lunch after walking around this area. The place was busy and we didn’t have a reservation but they had a table and we sat down quickly. I ordered the fish and chips and it was the best I had my entire time in London!! The fish was delicate and crispy. The peas were pureed and yummy. It comes with a sort of deconstructed tartar sauce. So good!! The service was lovely as well. Would recommend!!!

As a local I have been to the OQS Cafe a number of times. It’s been steadily declining in terms of food quality and service but today took the biscuit at £53 inclusive of a 13.5% service charge. We arrived. Went in search of the person in charge of seating. It was relatively busy but not not full, with adequate staff. We asked if we could order quickly and offered to sit at the bar to save the waitress setting up an unset table. Our drinks came 40 minutes after being seated, including having to ask to be given water, the barman couldn’t work the coffee machine, and after several clarifications of which juice I had ordered, it didn’t turn up until I asked (again). No idea why the food also took some long given it was clear that most items were pre cooked. The food came, was cold and not fresh, undercooked tiny portion of scrambled egg and stale toast. The waitress was polite and positive throughout but it was plainly apparent sitting at the bar that frankly the staff were struggling with processing orders and clearing up, and were simply inexperienced. That’s understandable and is often now the case post pandemic, but at the prices on the menu neither the service or cookery were up to much.

Last minute booking for Valentines day lunch with my partner and Son. It was my sons birthday. Very friendly professional staff. I had a chicken salad and chocolate cake, both delicious. My partner had the chicken snitzel sandwich with coronation dressing, and my son had tuna, also very good. The prices are very reasonable. We would definitely return.

A real gem in the heart of Westminster I have been for breakfast and lunch, food is always great and the service is great too. Looking forward to returning soon. @cabbie_london

Got the breakfast, it's good. Great atmosphere and very friendly service too - albeit it's a bit on the pricey side. They have an allergen menu and are very knowledgeable and helpful about the contents of the food, even with gluten free options

We loved our food! Location is awesome as it’s right by the Westminister Abbey area. We stopped in on our way to Buckingham Palace, and we loved our time! Leti, our waitress, was so sweet and accommodating. Great, new place!

A very pretty building, tastefully decorated for Christmas, just around the corner from Westminster. It was about 2/3 full when we had breakfast one morning, but it wasn't too loud or busy at all, and the staff were attentive. The food and coffees were perfectly edible, although nothing special, and I would recommend for business meals.

I just love this brasserie. Friendly efficient service, relaxing lively atmosphere good food and wine. Highly recommend it.

Super Ort. Wir hatten im voraus als sehr große Gruppe reserviert und es hat absolut super geklappt. Der Empfang, die Bedienung, alles war sehr freundlich. Die Dame, die uns bedient hat war absolut auf Zack. Sie ist die ganze Zeit rotiert und hat den ganzen Laden bedient, das war unglaublich. Das Frühstück war zudem preislich absolut fair und die Portionen waren Klasse. Absolut empfehlenswert!

Lovey atmosphere and great service. But the Waldorf salad was a huge let down, for the price the portion was quite small and the dressing was more like a cold soup because it has been pre prepared and the cucumbers had bled out water and weren’t crunchy at all. It would have been wonderful to have some actual Roquefort on top instead of a wet slop….

Everything is Above the mind. Despite being on a side street, I think this eatery is really conveniently positioned yet sometimes gets overlooked. However, the waitress says that lunchtime is bustling. It was quite quiet when I arrived in the early evening. I adore the décor, which is filled to the brim with artworks. Therefore this is a good spot to enjoy some peace of mind and rest your legs after a long day. In terms of the meal, I enjoyed the prawn toast. However, even though I ordered medium rare, the sirloin steak was a little too tough, and there wasn't much sauce to go with it. The waitresses were quite amiable, though. Additionally, the veggies had a great flavor. They're really kind and willing to swap out the chips for broccoli for me. The wine list is broad as well. would return eventually.

Nice ambience. Fussy staff but fake nice. Had eggs on toast. 2 of us had scrambled with sides of bacon and one had fried eggs. The fried eggs were cold. The toast tasted like stale bread that had been toasted and was burnt (all of us). Coffee comes in the smallest cup and isn't great. No refills unless you pay. You wouldn't get that in the States. And I'm English. The service is very poor in comparison. Wouldn't go again.

We initially went to Two Chairman, just down the road. We weren’t in the mood for a loud pub, but my husband wanted fish and chips, so we stopped at the Old Queen Street Cafe. The fish and chips were excellent! I had the roasted squash, which was also very good. The staff were incredibly attentive and kind.

We had a really lovely dinner here tonight! The food is absolutely delicious and the servers were so friendly and attentive. We had the fish and chips and tuna and both were fresh and portions were good. Desserts and cocktails/mocktails also very tasty. Highly recommend a stop here as great location in Westminster.

Lovely little place for brunch.

I have been to OQS Cafe several times and it was good. Turned up on a Sunday at 15.45 and asked for table. Was told kitchen closed at 15.30 and there was no food. I pointed out the website said it closed at 17.00. Blank look. No apology - just told the kitchen is closed and made to feel it was my fault I did not understand that a close time of 17.00 meant 15.30. Just a warning - don’t believe the web site.

The cutest and quite cafe close to Westminster Abbey. Grab a quick lunch of fish and chips or their brisket. Book your tickets to Westminster Abbey while you wait for your food. Then head over for your tour using the fast track lane. The service was very accommodating. Easy for us to just walk in without a res. Food was a great place for lunch portion British food. Don't forget to try their in home sodas. We enjoyed the experience.

A very nice and traditional place to enjoy an english dish. We had fish n chips and brisket witch was very welled cooked and flavorfull. The restaurant itself is quite and the service is good.

Our server Leti was an absolute gem, she was welcoming, sincere, and made us feel at home in the company of friends. The food was delicious and our party all enjoyed their plates. I took advantage of the all you could drink coffee and juices; they were all quite yummy! We enjoyed our visit and will be sure to visit again next time we travel to London.

Especially if you are in London and near to Westminster station, excited to see Big Ben area and then you get Hungry and looking for the best+++ option then here you go.... My wife and i was in London last month, while enjoying the beautiful view of Big ben Area, we did not realize how much hungry and tired we were. While looking for restaurant we accidentally stopped in Old Queen street Cafe. We were so tired that we had no patience to wait outside the restaurant and wait until 12 pm, as they start the lunch by noon. As we were there 20 minutes before. Thanks to the front door assistance, she allowed us to sit in and said you can order drink and will get your order ASAP. We had nice fresh juice and waited about 10 minutes, one of the staff member was very kind as they took our order 10 minutes before and said " Anyways it will take somewhere 10 to 20 minutes to prepare your order, so i will go ahed submit your order" Oh wow, I was very impressed with this hospitality and we immediately place our order. It did not take as long. This was about hospitality and their genuine gesture which makes us very welcoming. Which is important when you visit the new country. Okay Lets talk talk about food. We ordered Chicken Schnitzel, fries and Fish and Chips. Food certainly deserve 10/10. Amazing food quality as you realize when you eat. Cooking style was amazing!!! Indeed, Why? Because texture, temperature, thickness of chicken and fish was exactly as expected, we are not kitchen expert but it makes your soul satisfied and hit the right spot. Green immunity Booster and Sunshine Juice is Amazing. Experience is really amazing and entire time we spent their makes us feel that even we came to this restaurant without planning, it was a great decision. Every time my wife and I talk about next London visit, We always talk about Old Queen Street Cafe. Staff, Chef and Management of this cafe is really Amazing!!!! Sincerely, Varun

Currently writing this as I’m sitting in the table waiting for my dessert to be reheated since it was served cold for a while now. I also asked for butter 3 times until it was given to me with a frown. I really don’t mean to be a demanding customer, but I feel like asking for a desert to be served as it was intended is a minimum and a smile isn’t necessary but so is a sigh. Although I do like their banana bread and milkshake, but a bad service never makes a cafe worth the visit. Keeping in mind this is my third time coming here experiencing this consistant attitude. Definitely there won’t be a fourth..

Service is awful and staff badly mannered. The supervisor made it even worse. I knew service wasn’t great here, but my mom liked their banana bread. But after this she’s definitely not coming back. Not only was it served cold, she was handed the butter with a sense of arrogance and disgust by the supervisor. I was going to walk out, but I had invited family. To the point where I felt I was discriminated against, as the supervisor asked for feedback from different customers but did not even apologize for how we were serviced. The waiter, although lacking skills, tried to put on a smile.

Unfortunately despite looking like a very lovely restaurant, the service I experienced this morning was terrible. Neither of the two waiters who walked by me countless times even acknowledged my presence. After waiting nearly 10 mins decided to leave. Granted the place was 75% busy, but if this business isn't set up with the resources to handle this number of customers and knew that the service was going to be so slow, I wish they would have informed me when I arrived.

Just popped in for a cup of coffee in the evening. Very pleasant location in the center, on a quiet street. On a weekday evening the place was almost full. The service and overall experience are excellent!

What a great place. A true hidden gem in the centre of London. I almost don't want to tell you about it, because it's so quiet and lovely. But it's too good to keep to myself. A brilliant little country cafe, with reliable mains, solid portions, and atmosphere so pleasant, one can easily forget they're in middle of London and while away the afternoon over coffee and light conversation.

Lovely little gem tucked down a side road. Food was lovely and well presented with quick service and friendly staff. I can’t comment on the atmosphere as it was a Tuesday early evening and few people in there. Nice decor inside and very clean. Would definitely return.

Great addition to limited Westminster dining options. Have been for both breakfast and lunch and enjoyed both times. Good range of interesting and varied - including lighter, healthier - menu options.

Had a great 3 course lunch at OQS. Everyone loved their food, great cocktails and atmosphere. A winner in a great location - tucked away on a quiet street so a bit of hidden gem! Lovely service. Will definitely be back.

I had booked a table for one, coming in to London especially for the restaurant on a recommendation. When I arrived I was told I had been 'put at the bar' because I was on my own. This was on an uncomfortable (for me) high...

Characterful café/brasserie tucked away literally yards from the QE2 Conference Centre and the hubbub of Westminster Abbey and the Palace of Westminster. The dining area has the homely feel of an old skool drawing room with some contemporary touches. The dinner menu is short and seasonal but includes something for everyone. I had a delicious steak salad which was the special of the day - the meat was a perfect medium rare accompanied by a beautifully dressed mixed salad. The hazelnut cake was rich and moist, but the ice cream that came with it was more like vanilla ice and a little disappointing. Service was excellent throughout. Well worth seeking out.

We had seen previous reviews and decided to try the restaurant for brunch. We ended up arriving earlier than anticipated so had breakfast. The place is lovely, the staff friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. I had the full vegetarian breakfast and my wife had the bakewell french toast. 웨스트민스터 사원 가기전에 근처를 찾다가 우연히 들른 곳. 잉글리시 브랙퍼스트 먹으려고 들어왔는데 가격은 17유로 정도였고, 맛있었다.(이전에 노팅힐에서 먹은것과 금액이 비슷한걸 생각하면 여기는 분위기도 서비스도 훨씬 좋아서 돈이 아깝지 않았다.) 특히 아침부터 아이스 아메리카노 먹을수 있어서 행복했다...(아이스롱블랙)

I found this place in a quiet place round just around the corner from the parliament building. Luckily that had space for 5 on a Sunday so did not book in advance. Food, atmosphere and service was top quality.

Exactly what I needed. There is a certain comfort and nostalgia you get upon entering that immediately soothes the soul. The food, cocktails and service were impeccable. Must try the octopus starter and the schnitzel. Leave room for their dessert as the French toast is not to be missed.

Nice brasserie type restaurant down a side street, close to St James' park, Westminster Abbey and the QEII building. We visited for dinner, and the ambience was nice, but it was surprisingly quiet. The food was lovely, but beetroot carpaccio was a tiny bit on the sour side for my companion (the beetroot puree/sauce was a little too heavily applied), I also enjoyed the goats cheese salad with pear as a main.

Fabulous booked late lunch with my daughter and granddaughter. We were seated in a great booth and experienced fabulous service throughout. Food and drinks excellent and brought in a timely order, and we weren't rushed at all to leave after eating. All the team really spoilt my 5 year old Matilda and I am sure she'll remember it for a long time - see you again soon.

Schlechter Umgang mit Gästen. Das Restaurant war voll und wir könnten in einer Stunde wiederkommen. Wir stimmten zu und meine Frau wollte aber noch die Toilette benutzen. Das wurde jedoch abgelehnt, mit der Begründung, nur für Gäste. Aus diesem Grund sind wir dann natürlich woanders essen gegangen.
