Old Moor Tavern, what has happened? We used to live Sunday lunch, it was perfect. Today, we had the worst meal ever here today. The server tried to make us order a cauliflower cheese each. I explained that we only wanted 2 dishes for the 5 of us. She continued to tell us we needed more as it was a small dish. I said I know, we were there a few weeks ago." She carried on telling us what we should have. It took my husband ready to lose it a little and say we want 2 portions for the table. The food came, and it wasn't a patch on what it used to be. The frozen Yorkshire puddings were appalling. When I asked why they were using Frozen, she said it was because of the oven. She also said the normal Yorkshire puddings are frozen and made elsewhere and that they don't any at the moment!!?? The vegetables were mushy and tasteless. Also, what has happened to all your customers? It used to be packed on a Sunday, and now there's hardly anyone there. It has been run into the ground. Overall, it's a poor show.

Shop bought yorshire puddings, not freshly made, when asked was told chef didn't have time to make them. Oven was too small. Size differed from starter to main meal again when asked why ,told different supplier would not become d unless you like slumming it.

We visited the Old Moor Tavern for midweek lunch . Good welcome by the 2 female staff, and one came to our table to take our orders. I ordered the Liver and onions with chips and mushy peas. My wife ordered the Gammon steak ,chips and baked beans. How the kitchen could issue a plate of burnt liver, and greasy gammon is beyond me, and we will not be retuning.

I pre booked a meal for mothers day 2 weeks in advance and still our food order was wrong. I have been previously with family for dinner and the food was nice. But on this occasion the carvery tasted frozen & processed. My order was totally messed up receiving only 1 starter & 1 desert for a family of 4. I was also billed 4.50 extra for drinks & snacks i did not order but received a cauliflower cheese with our dinner im guessing this is what i paid for. I will not be back for food. The pint was lovely.

After our poor Sunday lunch last year we returned in the hope we'd find better quality. It was not to be. Called in on the off chance midweek. I chose chicken with mushroom sauce. Chicken overcooked like an old shoe. Despite them giving me a steak knife to cut it I still struggled leaving half of it. Sauteed potatoes, peas like bullets, frozen green beans and a side of peas ( again) and carrots. All frozen. It's a lovely pub and the staff are friendly but they really must not skimp on some quality. Our meals arrived really quick so I suspect the chicken had been stood precooked in a bain marie. The sauce came in a boat and needed a stir to remove the skin on top. Again been left. The meals were both around £14.95 each. Please Old Moor take more pride in your food as you have a lovely pub. I work in catering so know the challenges but I'd rather wait 20 minutes for a decently cooked plate of food than 5 minutes after ordering.

What A Delightful Pub - Great Food & Wonderful Staff. Just got home from - a 3 hour - lunch visit (17/1/24). In Our 60's Got a personal recommendation and although 20 miles from where I live, it was only 15 mins from an old work colleague, so arranged to meet up. A nice suprise to find a proper tradional pub, rather than an attempted replica. The layout was comfortable & welcoming, with friendly regulars, and that lovely local pub atmosphere. The staff were very helpful and attentive - nothing too much trouble. The food beatifully cooked, well presented and truly delicious. We both had the braised steak & it was to die for perfection. (£14 each) Shall definitely be back. Thanks for a lovely afternoon Graham & John

We went for the festive menu, I ordered a festive chicken burger, which I was shocked when I saw it.... it came out on a tesco soft break cake, more like a hot chicken sandwich which is very disappointing given they advertise it as a special Christmas menu. .. we spent over £200 as a family to have a bog standard meal... shocking to be honest.

Love this place and visit on and off through the year usually for a drink but eat here ( bar meals) Tried the Sunday lunch and were very disappointed. Bland. We’d had the restaurant recommended to us for Sunday lunch and have to say we were not disappointed. There is a nice homely feel to the pub and the staff were largely welcoming. We were offered drinks on arrival that came quickly but we did need to wait quite a while to order our food which was frustrating as we were rather hungry. We both ordered Sunday lunch with an extra portion of meat for £1 extra that I would definitely do again (Beef and Turkey if you’re interested!). The food was hot, well cooked and very tasty. We were offered condiments too which helped make it - cranberry and horseradish!! We ordered a glass of wine after our meal which seemed relatively pricey given the location (large Malbec £7.50) but lesson learnt. Overall a good experience and we’ll certainly be back. On a separate note, it does seem quite difficult to book a table at short notice and we’ve seen people turned away even though there seems to be several free tables. Probably a reason for this but not sure what.

Came here for the first time as me, my sister and my mother are visiting different pubs to sample their sunday carvery. This was beautiful and would have been our number one choice except for one thing. The roast potatoes were awful. They were clearly frozen and made by a "famous auntie" They were very large, very pale and frankly tasteless. If they sustituted those horrible things for homemade it would be a 10 from us

Practically empty when we visited. The pub is dated and probably not what we expected. Service was very friendly though and we started with mushroom soup which was very good. Followed this with the steak pie and the creamy mushroom tagliatelle with chicken. The pie was just ok and clearly shop bought not homemade (doesn’t say homemade on the menu though), but pubs serving food in this day and age usually serve home made pie. The tagliatelle was ok but nothing wonderful.

I visited here with my family of 7 for a celebratory meal. We also had children with us. The pub is traditional which i loved about it. It is very well maintained and clean. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The menu had a variety of meals but i believe in "less is more" i would much rather have a very good quality cooked meal than lots of options. I would say they could be more starters but that is just my option. We all ordered different meals and we were all envious of each others. I had fish and chips and my partner had hamburger. The fish was a little well done but tasted amazing!!! the chips were lush and the portion size was good so so that i could not eat it all. I tried a little of my husbands burger and it was so tasty and definitely home made like most things on our plates, even down to the coleslaw which was lush!! i hope they one day tell me the recipe for that. The children's meals were also a fair portion size and again home made. So apart from the well done fish which i am sure is a one off as they were busy we really all enjoyed our visit. The next day my parents visited here again for the Sunday Lunch and they also praised this so i am already planning my next visit.

We have eaten here many times before and always enjoyed it. As the title says, it wasn’t bad but, the veg were overdone - for me - and swimming in water. The beef was over cooked - for me - (but that’s not been a problem in the past) and tending to the dry side. Roasties and Yorkshire pudding were good. We will be back so fingers crossed it was a one off.

Decided to take our family to this pub for food. I ordered a sirloin steak which was £14 and asked if I could have a jacket potato instead of the fries as I am on a diet. I was told yes but the jacket potato would be an extra £1! Then my nephew who ordered off the children’s menu wanted a bit of cheese on the top of his garlic pizza and we were told this would be an extra 50p. These sort of practices do not encourage you to go back. Out of the 6 meals ordered I don’t think any of us were impressed and the steak I would have got a bigger and better quality from Morrison’s. We won’t be back

Poor menu choice. Starters of 5 tiny “king” prawns ( £1.25 per prawn ). Steak as tough as old boots and over cooked. What is the point is asking how you want it cooking ? Scampi was Iceland finest budget range. The chips were abysmal just lumps of fried potatoes, tasted of nothing really. Onion rings and chicken goujons had to be drained and excess oil removed before they could be eaten. Chicken fillet was ok, but served with a jug of tasteless sort of creamed sauce. Anyway I could go on but I think you will get the message.

Sadly this place hasn’t improved since my last visit 2 years ago. Pie still soggy after being probably microwaved, Sunday lunch was ok- nothing major wrong just one roast potato though! Starters were not correct even though we said they didn’t seem to want to apologise or correct it. Desert was dry and ice cream for the price was poor. I don’t think I’ll return again now. Not that it’s terrible as it’s not but there are places far superior for the same price I.e. Burntwood court £20 for 3 courses on a Sunday. The one thing we didn’t like as a family was not being able to go to the bar to order and pay for drinks separate from the tab. Children’s menu needs addressing- far too large for children under 5 years who won’t eat that amount of food- price not reflected fairly here

We called in last Friday, it was very busy and we hadn't booked but we asked the manager and she got us a seat straight away and said we will bring your drinks order shortly and they did. I ordered the chicken sizzler and the wife chicken curry, I think. When my sizzler came the sauce was nice but the chicken was in big white chunks like they had just added it to the sauce before bringing it out. It tasted a bit funny, I don't know if they boiled it or what but I usually get chicken sizzler when out and it's normally cooked with the sauce. I also had rice which was bland but then again I'm not a big white rice fan. This is what I sent back. The waitresses were great, I got a refund for my sizzler but I just felt a little let down. It is a lovely pub with great staff but maybe the chef needs upgrading.

We went for lunch - four of us. Got there early to make sure things nice and hot as have been before for lunch at a later time and vegetables cold. Anyway ordered off the over 60's menu meat pie. Shop bought, warmed up pie (in microwave therefore pastry soggy), small portion. Very disappointing! Won't be going again.

My friend and I have walked together for 50 years on a regular basis and like to call in half way to a good pub with good pub-grub; real ale and who welcome our companion, my wonderful well behaved dog.

I have reviewed this place one already for Christmas 2016 but we visited again on New Years Day 2018. I opted for the chicken goujons and pie. The starter (only 2 pieces) was not much to rave about, batter was flaky wasnt at all what i thought a chicken goujon should be. The pie then, well it was soggy, raw pastry and I could tell it had just been banged in the microwave as it was piping hot. The service I found poor, had to wait over 20 minutes for the young (prob 16 years old) waitress to come and ask 1. if our meals were ok and 2. If we wanted more drinks. I ended up having to shout her over despite the place being dead! Not returning anytime soon.

Again well cooked food at a reasonable price. There were 10 Adults and 2 children in party. All starters mains and puddings came out so we could eat together. Variety of dishes were ordered and everyone commented on how they had enjoyed thier meal. Staff are friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend.

Wow!!! What can I say. I had Christmas Day Dinner here with my family and it was Amazing. Compliments to the chef. The food was outstanding. Best Christmas dinner i'v had there. Leanne and her staff were brilliant!!! The service was calm but quick, the food was georguos and plentiful which all made for a very enjoyable experience for me and my family. I have recommended that the chicken dish be put onto the main menu, it was beautiful. Thanks to you all for a lovely Christmas Day.

We went for a 3 course meal tonight for New Year's Eve. I had sirloin steak and my husband had lamb shank, both were cooked to perfection. We visit regularly as the food is all home cooked.

Went to the old moor tavern on Monday 11 th December the place was very busy as expected lunchtime in December but the service was still excellent. The Christmas meal was fantastic from the starter to the dessert couldn’t fault it and great value for money. I will definitely be back again.

Lovely service here, the food is always well cooked and good value for money. Been here many times as you cannot beat it for value. I'd best describe this as home cooked pub grub. No micro meals very good quality food. Lovely atmosphere and they do brilliant oap discounts. Can't fault the place.

Visited several times. Always leave full and happy. All food freshly cooked and well worth the short wait. Comfortable surroundings. Friendly staff and good service. We had the mixed grill to share on our last visit and found it to be plentiful and excellent value for money. Will definitely be calling again very soon.

I had liver and onions which is usually a safe bet where ever you eat but on this occasion I found myself chewing on part of a plastic bag. The staff where very apologetic and they took the half eaten meal away. I was offered a new meal but my appetite had gone due to the experience. I wasn’t charged for the meal but that was no compensation has I sat there watching everyone else eat their meal my evening totally ruined has I felt nauseous at the thought of me actually eating and swallowing some of the plastic.

Lovely table service by Donna and a delightful amount of fatty scraps carved by Henry. Always make the effort with their customers.

We went out for a birthday dinner to the lemon tree and we had the best experience. The food was absolutely amazing and reasonable prices for the portion sizes. The staff were lovely and sang happy birthday and the restaurant was very good hygiene. I would recommend this to friends and i had an amazing night.

Poor experience at breakfast. Overcharged, order came wrong and drinks machines either out of order or not delivering drinks properly. We travel around using Wetherspoons regularly and have found this branch to be the worst yet.
