Old Lane Chippy in Salford

This used to be the BEST chippy ever. Since taken over, The food is awful, I don't actually understand how it's that bad..

I call at the old lane chippy quite often now it’s under new management it’s been given a new clean look. Same staff serving with new management. Updated and with a bench to sit on while waiting for fresh food preparation. A good selection on the menu including an Asian themed dishes and traditional chippy food to choose from. It’s worth calling in for some delicious meal and a friendly reception.

It is out quest to make the best food in the area and to give our customers a fair deal. Having said that I would like to answer the points you make in your review and if the food was not satisfactory then please accept my apologies. I would like anyone with a complaint to let me know so I can resolve the issue. So to answer your review. The Bacon being overdone i can accept, we get requests for well done Bacon. The cold Fish i don't understand but I will be extra vigilant from now. I'm glad to know the chips were OK. As for the seats, they consisted of 2 stools with a piece of wood screwed to the stool tops and the tops were loose. As I carry the insurance for the inside of the building I assed the seat as being unsafe and a health hazard. I will try to replace the seat ASAP. I understand that the previous owner after 21 years knew everyone's order. But we have only been the owner for 5 weeks and I hope our customers will try different foods. I do remember struggling with the orders on an occasion when one of our regular servers was off due to illness but usually we don't have problems with orders with our regular staff. The potatoes in the shop use higher quality products. The shop tries to make fresh sauces every day. The cost of fish used is quite high. The chair looked unsafe and the shop brought it out for repairs. Cleanliness within the store is trying to be improved. The shop apologizes for the delay. But above all else, the restaurant wants customers to receive quality food.

Just had beef fried rice Thai it was delicious highly recommended

Used to be great but now under new management. Forgot the egg on a Sausage, Bacon, Egg barm. Also generally the food was subpar compared to before. For example the Bacon was so overdone and salty it was crunchy like scratchings. The Fish was also cold as it was from the cabinet. The only part that was redeemable was the chips There also used to be seating when previously owned for while waiting for the order to be made. This has also gone. On top of this, the windows weren't open and while I understand cooking takes time, it was clear a good amount of time was spent checking over what the order itself was. Something that was naturally remembered by previous management and staff

Staff seems to be family which is really nice, plus the way they deal with an order is not only clever but fast. They each take a part of the order and within a few minutes your paying and on your way.

One of the better chippies, certainly one of the best around here. The chips are great, the sausages are your usually good chippy sausages. 3 choices of curry, Irish, English and Chinese and then of course gravy. All good and the staff are friendly. Never had an issue here and the shop is always clean. Well worth a visit

I'm very fussy about chips, this place has them spot on every time. Staff are friendly. Not expensive. Fish is awesome. Defo the best chippy around.

Absolutely fantastic find for us driving home from Preston, the food here was the best fish and chips I've had in a long time. The fish was cooked perfectly & fresh. 3 choices of curry! Unheard-of where we are from. Top guy let us sample the curry prior to purchase. Absolutely nothing to complain about well deserved Google rating. Gem in the middle of a council estate.

Had the fish it was absolutely fabulous thick steak like well done made fresh when you walk in absolutely brilliant

This is one of the worse chippy's to date the chips were under cooked and swimming in grease and the fish was just vile i have never experienced a soggy undercooked battered fish before and every mouthful was a horror story which had to end within the bin.

The Best chips and Chinese curry I've ever tasted 💜 could live off the stuff 👍

Best fish and chips around ,, lovely freshly cooked food the gravy and curry is like you used to get years ago,, they also do a good kebab
