Relaxed atmosphere, fast friendly service and great food.

Just been in for lunch,we had lasagna, it was very nice, we love coming here as the whole place is exceptionally clean and tidy, along with the service which you can't fault.

Came in today to have Sunday lunch with my nan. Food was amazing and my nan loved it too, hard to please a 90 year old master chef!!!! Caroline our waitress was extremely polite and especially caring towards my nan as she is hard of hearing and Caroline took her time to read her the specials. Bar staff pulled a bloody lovely pint too. Will definitely be returning soon!

Been here a few times with my sister and the food was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere was great and the vibes were awesome! The staff were very kind. Me and my sister were served by a young lady called Caroline. Who was a lovely girl! The place is lovely and would highly recommend a visit! All the best

Another lovely visit, this is the second time in 6 months we have been and yet again it didn’t disappoint. The food was good value for money and the staff very friendly and attentive, a young lady called Lydia served us from start to finish, friendly, happy and extremely helpful, a pleasurable lunch for my wife and I. Recommended.

Had a lovely experience at this pub. The food and staff were excellent! I really enjoyed enjoyed the lasagne , one of the best I’ve had in a while. - I’ll definitely be returning!

My friend and I often visit the Old Halfway House as it’s local to us both. Until relatively recently, we have been for the lunchtime menu, and it’s been fairly good. The pub has a nice atmosphere, and it’s clean and tidy. However, the menu has now changed; the lunchtime menu has increased from £6 to £8. Soft drinks have also increased, and a glass of coke is now £4.25, which is simply too much. This last visit, I ordered scampi chips and peas. I could hardly believe my eyes when the server brought my meal. There were 9 small pieces of scampi, a few chips and what I estimated to be 1 spoon of peas. I was really upset about this. The tartar sauce was also underwhelming - a tiny bit in the bottom of the dish. The plate actually looked like a child’s meal. Ok, so we all know prices are increasing across all sectors, but whilst pubs need to make a profit, customers also need value for money, and this falls woefully short of what one would expect. Would a few extra peas and chips, and maybe a couple more pieces of scampi really cost that much more for better customer satisfaction? I’ll answer that myself - no. When the lady came to collect our plates, we were asked if everything was ok. I mentioned the measly portion size, and she said she’d mention it to the kitchen. We remained in the pub a good 20 minutes, but she never returned, so I don’t know what the kitchen had said. We were going to order dessert, but after seeing that portion size, decided we wouldn’t bother. As mentioned before, we eat out locally once a week, so we have plenty of places with which to compare this to, and it falls way short of the competition. It is sad, but we will be finding somewhere with better value for money in future.

Rubbish and a rip off! Went here for a family meal which was really disappointing due to the tiny portion sizes. I ordered a kids meal and when it turned up there was 2 chicken nuggets and a small handful of horrible chips. Other meal came with some mash which was the smallest portion I've ever seen! So after eating the small amount of food everyone in out party was still hungry, so much so we had to stop at McDonald's on the way home. Then when I asked about the free kids meal that was advertised on their website, I was told it wasn't on anymore, even though the we visted between the dates stipulated. There was also no exclusions on the 'offer'. Mentioned my disappointed to the manager, only to be told 'the sizes are brand standard' so basically 'tough. No offer to subsidise the food I had to buy afterwards and clear false advertising of the 'free kids meal'that doesn't exist. Worst place I have visited for food in some time.

Great atmosphere with some lovely outdoor seating options. A short but dashing young barkeep named Lou was very helpful with suggesting items off the menu and made me feel welcome. Will be coming back.

Booked online but no table available when we arrived so had to sit in the bar area by the front door. I ordered the Grilled chicken and bacon salad and 3 of the ingredients were missing.- no avocado no soya beans and no slow roasted tomato. It was basically a bit of bagged salad, one rasher of bacon and half a chicken breast. My husband ordered the bbq burger which was a very thin burger on a small brioche bun. We were still very hungry so ordered the sharing dessert combo which I would have said was really for one person. The food we did have was ok but wouldn’t go back

I came in on sunday 10th march, the food was amazing and our server Caroline was happy and bubbly, would definitely recommend.

We booked for mother’s day and had a great time, was a table of 8. Restaurant was clean, and has a generally nice atmosphere. Steak was cooked to perfection, and all meals were enjoyed. Good range of drinks too. The staff were all very friendly, Lou, Amiee and Hayden served us and were all very polite. We will definately be back!

Came for Mother's Day. Was disappointed that the steak on the set menu was unavailable as apparently it had all been preordered by a large group. The fish and chips I ordered instead wasn't that nice, a bit undercooked. The starters were nice though.

We went on Saturday the 2nd for a family birthday all together there was 12 people two meals came wrong and I left with food poisoning from the chicken burger. My response from the manager was that she was sad because no food is made on site all come cooked and frozen . We then found out from a family friend that the stay were complaining about our table as we sent our food back for being wrong . Definitely won’t be going here again .

Shocking service from here. Arrived at 7pm and they didn't tell us they were only serving food until 7:30pm until we tried to order at 7:40pm and they told us the kitchen was closed. Also faulty table caused our drinks to topple over twice during the evening. Reported this to the manager who was extremely rude and refused to offer any replacement or apology and even advised it was our weight that caused the table to topple. Needless to say won’t be using them again. !!! 😡

Fantastic food, and a good menu. Very attentive staff who made sure we were looked after the entire time. Hayden and Caroline were a big help and can’t thank them enough for the service they provided.

So good we have booked for mother’s day! Menus have a good variety of very high quality food, staff were friendly, served by Caroline and Hayden on this occasion, however all staff are all very pleasant

Came in today with the family for dinner and turns out there was a live musician playing. What a lovely surprise! We only went for some scran and ended up staying for hours. Such good Saturday night vibes

Vicky who served us provided exceptional service. She helped my mum with a new chair when she was struggling. The Tortelini was amazing.

Very good place. Large private flat car park with wheelchair suitable entrance. Wheelchair toilet near the ladies toilet. Whole place very clean and bright. Good choice of drinks at sensible prices. Very good menu, superb food at reasonable prices. Staff well on the ball.

We went to the Old Halfway House for Christmas dinner this year, the first time that we have done this, and we are converts. The pub made it such a great experience, the staff were brilliant, the atmosphere was lovely and the food was delicious.

The food was great value, and tasted great; service was impeccable from everyone - from start to finish. The young man, I believe Hayden, who served us ensured we had a great experience throughout with efficient service despite how busy the restaurant was. He showed us how to download a website to receive some free drinks.

Good all round service fab food same will be back

Came here for the first time tonight, The staff were friendly and seemed nice, it was quiet but everyone seemed friendly. Wasn’t impressed by the food though. I had a burger and my daughter had sausage and mash. The gravy came like sludge (we like a thick gravy but this was really sludgy and very salty), there was also only a mouthful of mash to my daughter’s disappointment as she loves it. My burger came with some warm fries. On the menu it said it came with cheese ‘slices’ there was one that didn’t even half cover the burger. The bun it came in was burnt and there was gurkins on it cut up really small, no notice of this on the menu and they were that small I struggled to get them off as they were mixed in with lettuce. Overall the experience was okay. But I expected more from the food if I’m honest.

Sunday roasts are amazing, wonderful staff and a lovely relaxes atmosphere.

Came for lunch. The food was fabulous and reasonably priced. Cask was great. Atmosphere was lovely, there was a kids Halloween party on which looked to be busy. Staff were friendly and attentive. Would recommend as a great local food and drink pub

It’s hard work for pubs these days but these guys dig deep and beyond the call of duty to make you feel at home, and ultimately that’s all that matters

Awful food. The tables were sticky (very off putting) and the sharing platter was literally a plate of Doritos with a lump of slimy meat, sour cream and salsa (they ran out of guacamole). We couldn’t have desserts (at 7.30pm??) because the kitchen was already shut. We sat down at 7pm? The chips were also cold. Not a good experience.

Come here on a regular basis with work or family. Never a bad pint and food is always enjoyable. Staff are amazing

Well what Can I say , we were there 27th September a party of 13 and each and everyone of us all said we enjoyed it , the food was spot on , service excellent, we’ve been many times when there are only 2 people right up to large group the food and service has always been fab , so thank you to all the staff and of course the chef for cooking the food to our request .

The booking was taken for 7pm. I wasn’t told food service stopped at 7.30? Ordered drinks given a “sticky” table and we attempted to order food. The waitress informed us the specials were The chicken & mushroom pie and that was it! We ordered then 10 mins later the waitress came & said “ we have run out of guacamole for the taco beef dish. Ok we were offered extra sour cream. That dish was DISGUSTING, NO WARM TACOS And a blob of of what looked like dog meat no melted cheese. It was very poor value at I think £10.00 to share! We then attempted to order deserts and was told the kitchens closed but then told it’s ok I’ll do the puddings so you can order. We didn’t and would not return again.

Wouldn't darken its doors again. 1st visit food adequate but the service was terrible. The "waitress " was abrupt and rushed us . 2nd visit ( not by choice) was to celebrate a relatives birthday. Food was abysmal, The staff made absolutely no effort to make our LARGE party welcome. Again rushed out.

What a wonderful experience! Family of 15 and the best service was received. Adi, Hayden, Caroline and especially Amiee were incredible. Amiee looked after us brilliantly and was so helpful. Cannot recommend enough for an amazing family lunch!

Visited to meet up with grandchildren before they return to studying. Been here a few times in the past and it's generally been quite good, except they never seem to havd rib eye steak, which is my husband's choice, Unfortunately today was not a good experience. . We arrived five minutes prior to our booked time to be told that there was 35 minutes delay for food. Food orders are taken at the bar and our granddaughter ordered as we both have walking difficulties. When the food arrived the starters and mains were brought out together. Apparently this was due to the fact that she'd asked for each persons starter and main together instead of 4 starters then 4 mains. There was no apology for this as it appeared that it was considered our fault. Additionally my breaded mushrooms were overcooked and very hard. Granddaughter's breaded chicken was hard and tasteless. She didn't eat it. Her main was sausages and mash. One of the two sausages was burnt so she left that too.. Grandson also left chicken wings and sausage on his mixed grill as they were also overcooked and very hard. I left some of my gammon meal as it was cold by the time I had crunched my way through the overcooked mushrooms. Additionally no one came to ask if our meals were OK. The place was exceedingly and the staff seemed very stretched but a really disappointing visit overall.

Came back the very next day for a meal. Staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful So the review for the food Starting with the positive Food was delicious and good value for money. Every plate was enjoyed and finished and will definitely come back again Now for the negative Nothing. Everything was perfect Will definitely be the 1st place we will consider the next time we are wanting to go for a meal out

It was okay. I have had 2 lunches there with group of 20 friends from our choir. The first visit was nice but some of my friends had problems with the dishes they ordered on both occasions. On the first visit the staff were really nice and we had 4 members of staff looking after us, the second time there were 2. I don't think we will be eating there next time we have meal

Food was fresh and hot and from ordering to getting our food was very fast and efficient. Staff were very helpful and friendly and welcoming.

Had a small gathering with 15 of us including kids. Made space available for us in our own area. Food was spot on and served quickly. Service was brilliant, staff were really friendly. Would defo return.

Visited last night. 3 of us had steak all of which were cooked perfectly. One rare one medium one well done. It's a shame there is no longer table service to order food. But with only 3 tables indoors occupied on a Saturday night maybe staff has been reduced. But food was delicious so can't give less than 5 stars. Desserts also scrumpy even though the millionaire puddle didn't have a puddle. Really like the interior design of the pub. With it being so quiet I really hope this place will keep going. We will definitely return.

Really nice pub. Outdoor seating has different types of style from traditional pub benches to a central covered area, benches with cushions etc. Range of drinks is large and varied. Menu is small but food is good. Staff are really friendly. All round, a nice place for a drink and something to eat.

Outstanding! Family meal for 4 on a Saturday midday. Excellenly cooked half duck in red wine sauce, kids menu, steak and burger with sweet potato chips. Brilliant choice of beers. All for £50.

Great varied menu, food always fresh and delicious. Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere for all ages. Just devoured the most delicious burger and fries combo with a side of onion rings which were to die for!
