Old George Inn in Cotswold

Our first visit here while on a little lake holiday. Beautifully decorated country style pub. We were seated in the upstairs area which was spacious and decorated tastefully in a winter & Halloween theme. All staff who welcomed and served us were warm, friendly & helpful. Talking us through children’s menu options, specials and offers. A little dog mattress & cup of treats was brought out for our pup. So thoughtful!!! Food was delicious and very generous portion sizes. We had prawn & chicken starters, pie and mash, tapas plates, chicken curry and a brownie for dessert. Irish coffees were lush too. Every aspect of their service was excellent and we wish this was our local.

A lovely Sunday lunch here with our family and dog. Staff are very friendly and kind, delicious food and dog given his own mat! Very relaxed atmosphere-a warm and very genuine welcome.

Visited South Cerney before came to drink here most nights but didn’t eat here. What a missed opportunity. Came today on the off chance that we could have a Sunday lunch. The staff were absolutely lovely. The food was brilliant. We would definitely recommend.

Came to The Old George Inn for lunch on a Saturday. Fantastic choice on the menu and a good selection of specials too. We went for the Ribeye steak, it was delicious! The parmesan chips were amazing. The lemon cheesecake took me by surprise - very tasty. The team serving us were great, very friendly and welcoming. We are looking forward to our next visit. Spotted the Christmas menu on their Facebook page - definitely booking for that. Our only disappointment was that we missed the Barn Dance/Hoedown thr previous night. We would have been their dressed up!

The breakfast here is excellant & well worth the money. Such value for the quality ingredients topped off with lovely coffee. Staff were v good & happy Highly recommend. & looking forward to going back

I won't be going back, due to parking fines in the pub car park, I didn't see any signs, and was not informed by the staff I need a permit, on the website they say they have plenty of free parking, no mention of a permit?

Went in for a drink, and am disgusted to find I have a £100 fine for parking. Answers to other reviews say there's ample sign to say you must register. There are not! In short, dont use this place!

I wish I could make this my local. We turned up around 12.30pm without a booking and it was full. The landlady had been talking to my son about their chicken Goujons and felt so bad she found a space for us if we could leave by 2.15pm They could not have been lovelier. I had a vegan pie and my wife and mother-in-law had the Roast Chicken. It was really incredible food it felt like traditional home cooked food at its very best. Great, fresh produce and really tasty. Honestly not sure what all the negative reviews about parking are for. There is a huge sign as you drive into the car park and signs all over the pub! I chatted with the landlord who seemed genuinely stumped about what more they could do to notify guests. If you're in the area give this place a try I don't think you will be disappointed.

Was the best meal we’ve had in a while! Staff were so friendly and had a great laugh! ( made fun of my boyfriend for not liking cheese) which was amusing! They were very speedy and checked on us constantly! The chicken burger I had was huge! Really good price for the amount you get! The cheesecake was amazing too! The kitchen really spoilt us! Would highly recommend this place and next time we visit this area we will be going back!

First visit whilst staying on the Water Park nearby. Chosen as a result of reading the reviews. They didn’t disappoint. Excellent food in a very nice two tier dining area. From the outside it looks to be a small quaint old pub. Once inside it is quant but is very nice and very welcoming. Bigger than the outside suggests. I had steak and my partner had the pie of the day. Both were excellent. The steak was perfectly cooked and the best I’ve had for a long time. The two girls that waited on us were very friendly and their service was first class. The whole pub vibrant and clearly frequented by locals. The whole of the pub was very dog friendly and our dog got a fuss and was provided with a dog bed to lie on. If I am in this area again I will certainly visit again and would recommend this place unreservedly.

This was the best pub meal we have had for several years. We were a group of friends attending the Cheltenham festival and we came to the Old George because we’d had some pretty good meals with good atmosphere in the past. The atmosphere is still really good and the food and service were fantastic! I understand the pub is under new ownership and the management, chef and service was really excellent. We came away feeling happy and grateful that such a pub exists - especially the quality of the food was brilliant. Do visit, we did again a couple of days later - still the same quality.

The food and ambience were actually really good. What let's it down, though, is the prices. We eat out a lot & so know how things are usually priced. My husbands pie & mash was nearly £18 & my fish & chips almost £17. I only had a pea smear on the plate, which 1 chip soaked up, so the portion wasn't great either. The food, though, was very tasty, no complaints about that.

Came here as it was near our hotel, cosy pub vibes and yummy food. Quick service and even provided a dog bed and bowl for our dog without even asking. Thank you :)

My father and I came with our small dog and they gave her a bed to lie on which was a super cute touch! The food and wine was fantastic. I had the wings, followed by the tarragon chicken and then a sundae, delish. My dad had the calamari and then the steak of the day and he absolutely loved it. Aside from the great food, we had walked to the pub and didn’t fancy walking back so asked the pub if they recommended a taxi company who would accept a small dog, the manageress said absolutely not and that one of her staff will drive us back! Couldn’t believe it. Such a kind kind gesture and completely blown away. Great service, wonderful food and a truly lovely and unforgettable evening. Would 100% come back in the future and recommend to all!

Phenomenal service - that was the first thing that stood out. The pub itself is beautiful inside and had a lovely atmosphere on a Sunday. We stopped for Sunday lunch and did not leave hungry or disappointed!

What a wonderful find - so accommodating and let us sit in the main pub/restaurant with our dog, even bringing him a bed and bowl of water! Food was wonderful (chocolate brioche and ice cream is to die for!)

Pleasant setting and attentive staff. Pizza oven outside, we tried to order but there was some confusion so chose burgers instead. The beef burger was a little underwhelming and cooked medium rare but the chicken burger was delicious and a generous portion. Looked cosy inside.

Really lovely setting, just a 5 minute drive from where we were staying. Table for three, pre booking very advisable. Staff so friendly and welcoming. Dog friendly, they even get a pet mat to sit on. Just come back from holiday and younger daughter chose to go here for her birthday. Very popular place, so always book first if you can. Friendly staff, good service, lovely food and nice atmosphere. Only moved to the area last September and for sure, this is one of our favourite places to go to. Always said, how nice it would be to have a local you can walk to.

Visited The Old George for Sunday Lunch after staying at the De Vere Hotel. We were warmly welcomed, the staff are so friendly and helpful. They serve a cracking pint of Cider. We opted for a Sunday Roast Beef Dinner, the meal was delicious, everything had full flavour. A little disappointed with the desert selection and at 8.50, I felt very over priced, but it was my choice to pay it so I won’t let that ruin a good meal or take away the fact the staff were so welcoming. I love country pubs and this was a pleasure to visit, if I am local again, I will be back. Ps the fire engineer pizza place in the beer garden is absolute genius Thank you

Excellent. The 1st night opening was a fantastic experience. All the covid rules applied and were set out brilliantly and very easy to follow. They had a big marquee in a lovely garden area with an outside bar and an outside kitchen. Even though it was fully booked the service was speedy and efficient. Well done to all of the staff, they all worked so hard but were smiling and happy through to the end of the evening.The food was great and super tasty, i had the chicken and chorizo paella, i highly recommend that dish. Dijimos que lo queríamos bien cocido, sin rosa.Llegaron nuestros bistecs y mi bistec estaba cubierto de mantequilla de ajo cuando lo había pedido a un lado, así que dijeron que me harían uno fresco. El bistec de mi esposo estaba ligeramente rosado, pero dijo que estaba bien. Mi segundo bistec salió rosado después de que lo había pedido bien cocido, así que lo devolví. El chef compró mi tercer bistec y me dijo que era un bistec diferente, todavía una plancha pero más delgada. Este bistec estaba muy bueno, pero cuando llegó, mi esposo casi había terminado su cena, así que comí solo.Cuando expresamos nuestra decepción a la señora que compró nuestra factura, nos dijo que sus bistecs provenían de un carnicero de buena reputación y que no habían tenido quejas sobre ellos. No estábamos cuestionando la calidad del bistec, solo la forma en que se sirvió. Básicamente, no podría haberle importado menos, ¡no hace falta decir que no volveremos a comer allí!

¡Excelente!Bien organizado con respecto a las restricciones y precauciones de Covid 19. Cuando estábamos sentados, una familia estaba desocupando la mesa de al lado y en un par de minutos el personal estaba desinfectando y limpiando. Las personas que servían eran amables y muy eficientes. La comida llegó en un tiempo razonable, y muy sabrosa también. Sin duda volveremos.

No estoy muy seguro de qué está pasando con este lugar. Hermoso para mirar desde afuera, adentro no hay un tema real. Se sentía como un bar / restaurante americano / club de baile o algo así, ya que había luces de discoteca encendidas y no había nadie allí. Tomé un whisky, lo recibí en un vaso largo. No tenían vasos de piedras. Solo tenía el 1 y se fue. Pero necesito organizar de adentro hacia afuera
